It's not those dlc's that are the problem. Try resetting your machine and then again attempting to verify game chache.

My first step would be to verify integrity of game cache for both Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA.

Can be done. Adding mods (admin menu) so that you may spawn in items will take some prior knowledge or a climb up a pretty steep learning curve. Do you just want to practice building?

These two dlc's shouldn't restrict you from any server. What is the message you receive when attempting to log into a server?

I guess you came into the mod a little late seeing as though you didn't mention .50's. And I wouldn't be surprised to see a complete overhaul of helicopters and piloting them in DayZ. And if it's anything like Take on Helicopters it will make piloting a tricky task for most players.

Try Origins.

I also really like the intro by LONGaming. I do think this intro needs a little more to it. Maybe MoonR1d3r could add some more that better reflects the game. Running and zombies comes to mind, lots of running.

Any dayz player or famous detective would pick that up.

Just like to the add that the wind is always blowing East. You can get your bearings easily without a compass by watching the clouds. And the North star of a nighttime.

It's Chernarus. I think the DayZ logo would be better.

Sounds like you best work in a pack rather than lonewolfing. Since leaving your old group it sounds like you've been a lost soul wandering the wastelands looking for others. I'd look for another group to join and play with as it seems you prefer that playstyle over solo. There are plenty of medic groups recruiting on here.

They're very rare these days :( I know of ANZ #3 AUSARMA for 1.8.0.3 or you could try the MustyZ mod. Basically 1.8.0.3 but updated with heaps of extra content. Very survivalist and new zombies are currently being tested.

I also had to shutdown steam to delete the battleye folder for a forced update.
