Suggestion for the process of dropping the kids off at the pool :D
DKR replied to Easy_Tiger (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Then well need underwear added to loot. I suggest boxer briefs -
That's a decent idea. They're planning on redoing the inventory layout, maybe that will be implemented. Maybe you'll have to stop, open your backpack to see what's in it. Like the mod.

What do you think of the future plans this year for DayzSA?
DKR replied to SxeDave's topic in General Discussion
I'm looking forward to their progress. Bugs and glitches will be predictable growing pains of an evolving Alpha, but it won't deter me from playing. I agree...if they scale back military weapons or reserve them for only a few select areas then they should make it difficult to enter and exit those areas because of zombies. I, too, would like to see more civilian weapons..and they're coming. I'm just enjoying the game while it evolves. -
We should start a new Beans & Books Club....the more books you read, the more beans you get. Reminds me of the ol' Pizza Hut Book Club when I was a kid....ahh those were the days

There seems to be hope in the wasteland. Don't read if you're not interested in my experience tonight. No hard feelings. Semi-wall of text follows! I'm sharing this story because of how impressed I was by the interactions of two survivors. Location: NWAF-Firestation & Jail > I see a flashlight shining on the wall of the firestation and move in to investigate. I hear the sound of a voice towards the jail so I slip over behind a pine for cover. Eventually, I get the courage to move up closer to look into a window so I can see what kind of firepower I'm dealing with. Two players are carrying nothing but fire axes. One thinks he hears someone outside, so I fall back to a pine and watch as they both come out the door to investigate (bad move), but eventually lose interest and/or assume they were mistaken about my presence. They move on towards the northern end of the strip. > I stalk them to the north jail. A conversation ensues about various pieces of gear while I slowly move up to some brush in front of the jail door. I'm undecided, at this point, as to whether or not to be cool or attack the survivors. They've done nothing wrong and have no real weapons, but its the NWAF and I'm not about to take any chances. Considering my past interactions with "friendly" survivors (who turned out to be thieving bandits), I was in no mood to trust anyone, especially at the NWAF. I had over 600 rounds and recently cleaned M4...so I was prepared for the worst. > But damnit...I couldn't resist. I assumed the worst would happen. I'd trust someone for a second, and they'd kill me...or just log off when I approach them. This was the NWAF for christ sake...no one is friendly! I'd lose this encounter...just like all the other times. But I couldn't help myself. I wanted to have a conversation...a negotiation...some kind of interpersonal exchange of motives and intentions. Something like in all those YouTube videos...so instead of just popping them as they came out the door, I figured I'd try to communicate. What happened next was the kind of (rare) interaction that I strive for with every spawn. > Sitting in a bush, right out side the jail door, I can hear them talking out loud. I initiate contact with an exaggerated proclamation. "You're gonna die". Well...maybe I didn't start that off very well. I heard them react to my statement. There was no way out for them, and they knew it. But wouldn't you know it.....even with the knowledge of being trapped in the jail...they didn't log. They had fire axes...and they were WAY up at the NWAF and didn't log when I threatened them. Honestly, that impressed me. Kudos to them. > They responded with a plea to spare their lives. We negotiated for a minute...I asked for an ACOG scope, which they could not deliver. They countered my offer with food, a beret, and something else I forget. I told them I was fine on the essentials. The conversation went on for a minute or two and I advised them to not be so liberal with Direct Chat, since that was the reason I was able to locate them and stalk them. > You could say I made a foolish move by offering trust on my part, and I wouldn't argue with you. I told them I could help them since they didn't have any firearms, but only if they walked out slowly. They complied and we spoke to each other for another minute. They said they were moving north to the tents and I offered to assist them, considering the two intrepid bambis migrated to the NWAF with no weapons. After a quick run through of the tents and another couple of conversations, I thanked them for their sportsmanship (for not logging) and playing it cool. It was the interpersonal, RPG experience I had been waiting for that, to date, I have not had in DayZ. I wished them good luck and we gave our farewells. I move off to the tree line to find a spot to log off. I had plans on moving to Vybor and Zelen the next day. But before I do... >>> I hear a clip reload....then get shot 12 seconds later in the back. No way to know, but I assume it was from a combat logger. Fucked up my plan for tomorrow....but you'll never take away hope in the wasteland! And you'll never have the kind of experience and satisfaction that I had with that god awful combat logging playstyle. You killed me and I only lost easily replaceable items. You've sacrificed substance for cheap thrills, so you've lost way more. At least in my humble opinion...in the end, I win.

lol Why wouldn't you just kill me and take what you want?

Got held up twice tonight. They both just shot me and laughed. Never surrender again.....

3 fully geared people just killed me after "waving at me" 2 fresh spawns "waved at me", said hello, and then beat my head in with an axe I can trust veterans....fresh spawns...I can't trust the gestures that people make. I can't trust Direct Chat messages......\ > I HAVE to kill all of you...on sight. Immediately. Sorry 'bout it

DayZ SA - Which headset do you use ?
DKR replied to zaphodity (DayZ)'s topic in Technology/Programming
Tritton Pro 5.1 4 separate speakers each side -
A continuation from my first suggestions here Shouting Chat Mode Instead of just close Direct chat, implement a "shouting" type chat range...that just has a much longer range than Direct chat.....if you need to holler to your friends across the field. Or troll the streets of Cherno. Needle and Thread Use fabric (from torn up shirts and other clothing) and a needle to add pouches and pockets to your pants or shirts for extra inventory space....in increments of 2 squares, and up to 4 additonal squares for pants, 2 for shirts, 4 for jackets...8 for backpacks....roughly. Something like that. Smell Text Messages One of our senses that doesn't get enough help in video games. "I smell my wounds"..."I smell a campfire nearby"..."I smell salt"..."I smell a dead body", or something Footwear Affect Speed Allow for a small variation (nothing drastic) in run/sprint speed depending on the type of shoe you're wearing. Face and Head items Ski masks, berets, head bands (not athletic, maybe bandana) hocket mask, jungle hats, facepaint, bandana mask, etc Belts Perhaps have utility belts that add small amount of inventory space. nothing huge...just a few spots to store 1-square sized items...batteries...maps...bullets...compass. Bandage Maintenance Have bandages appear as actual items that are "equipped" at the top of the inventory screen for a certain amount of time. Whatever amount of time that is....require the bandage to be replaced periodically...couple of times would do. Bandages need replaced IRL...maybe it'd be fun to implement this in the game. No more "fire and forget" bandage usage? Response from Trauma Stagger animation from being shot or hit with melee weapon. Character Creation More hair styles, hair colors, and face types. Nothing crazy...just a small expansion. Books Get rid of them. No value. Wastes a loot spawn. Tents To fit the spirit of being a "civilian survivor" in the zombie apocalypse, tents should not all conveniently be camouflage. Tents should be various colors...perhaps the camo ones can be rare loot in military structures? Other > Craftable rafts? > Craftable flags?

That's how KoS feels. As illustrated above, 99% of your experience (in blue) will be destroyed by the 1% (in red) > You're NEVER safe at a military hotspot. Check your corners before approaching and exiting military buildings. Good luck out there!

This is a perfect solution to 3PP in dayz. Great idea. Simply reconfiguring how the camera works should improve its authenticity. To others, yes, you can do things with 3P that is pretty cheap. I can do things in the SA with 3PP that I couldn't do in the mod, mainly looking through things. It's alpha. Fix the camera behavior and all will be good. They're not going to remove it though.

I could have swore this had been addressed by Rocket himself. 3rd person is not unrealistic from a FOV point of view. First person IS unrealistic. Humans don't have a FOV of 65 or 85. They have 180. Third person helps alleviate the difference between unrealistic, narrow FOV and real world FOV. Being able to see OVER things is really the only issue at the end of the day, IMO. It's in there for that specific reason, as stated by Rocket in a live stream Q&A session. Since the roots of DayZ came from a military simulator, its perfectly understandable to include 3rd person functionality to make up for our inaccurate, unrealistic history of FOV in games.

Well said, sir.

If I spawn in with the aim to survive as long as possible...I head inland. Get away from the coast. Period.

Honestly....I sit there and grieve for a few seconds. I step out for a smoke, relax, calm down, let the adrenaline wash away. I make an effort to remember why I'm having fun with DayZ...the loss of a character drives me nuts, but the brutality of it is exactly why I enjoy the game. Every "life" in CoD or BF is meaningless, every "life" in Skyrim or Dragon Age is meaningless, just load up your quicksave. I care and struggle with loss in DayZ. Seriously...no other game in history, literally, has higher highs AND lower lows than DayZ. There is real value in your character. Just keep your head up, take a break, start fresh, reevaluate your game plan...its tough out there.

Odd that's the one thing you concentrated on from my paragraph response. Being a hipster isn't just a fashion style. There's nothing of value to this post. I've wasted enough of my own time.
-
Literally the point of this post is to only insult a specific social demographic that you have generalized into one narrow description, while including their clothing and political styles...for..no..apparent..reason..? Very odd.

Today I discovered a bug with zombies that makes them invisible for a moment or two after logging in. I thought it was an invisible hacker hitting me with a baseball bat continuously, so I'm yelling in side chat at him and cursing him and his existence, calling the invisible hacker names and everything. Then a zombie appeared. Obviously I apologized to the zombie when I realized it was just a glitch, so we're cool now.

Does this kill you immediately? Or can you retreat before it goes boom?
-
Those are great ideas. I agree with you. Since its Alpha, I personally ASSUME they'll be adding in more ambient set pieces to the game once they reach that point in the development process. Good ideas...I think it will come in time.

Of my town. I'd know all the good loot and sniper spots. lol
