Dude you left out hand loads, we need to be able to create better ammo this bulk Nato 7 is garbage.... Joking aside once possesion rates get back to where spawn rates should have them at and hoping is removed you will see far fewer *Fancy* guns. So Acix is right, fix the systems that cause the problems before you introduce new systems to fix your problems.

I thought OP gave up.... Can't you see that giving in an inch will result in giving in a mile? WTF are you going to do with a 5 swing item, if it did get in the game you would be back on the forum the next day saying it should be 10 swings, or infinite swings, or stronger and should kill in one hit.... Stop lying to yourself you want the early game easier and you think a weapon will do that. Be honest its fine, maybe theres someone out there that will agree, but I think most people won't and will flame you, just say'n.

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

Thats how you deal with bandits Side note, if they were sitting somewhere snipping alone they were probably a duche and deserved a bullet. Not a special skin, but a bullet. -
Multi Map Dayz - linked servers.
xximrtwoixx replied to Strategos (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
1. In my mind this would be an EVE type of system where there are *NO* public servers, all servers/locations and all worlds (To reduce ping you have a world for US/CHINA/EU) are all owned/operated by BI single settings, non linear difficulty. No jumping between worlds, ie hopping and altf4 solved at once. This is the holy grail and from what rocket has said in his latest interview about stand alone the direction things are going to go in. He has the capital with BI from this mod alone, add in the extra revenue that people will pay for access to an early alpha and he'll be able to support DEV work and server infrastructure. 2. Massive corporate servers would mean large player counts matched to demand your not full but are near capacity. Also this is addressed with map building, servers would most likely not sport OP locations compared to others, this is close to how city/county planning is anyway (ie you have hospitals spread around). A few and dynamic differences like seasons/temperature etc could exist. 3. See 1 4. See 1 5. See 1 -
Stabbing people with the hunting knife
xximrtwoixx replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Your the one who wants a knife to attack infected that would live through multiple stab wounds, yet you think you could "clear out" a whole town; and your making fun of someone that wants a COD feature..... -
Maybe snipers could be more rare maybe not, but as a weapon system they should totally outclass others shooting long range. And because this is a giant open world you have the ability to shoot from some long ranges, thats what a sniper should be doing. Their should be no balance to anything other than what naturally occurs, yes Sniper systems are very deadly, they should be. They suck within 100m, unless you play on a CH server but who does that? There is plenty you can do to defend yourself from a sniper, its not like you *Have* to go to NW or Stary or Chern you are choosing to. It doesn't hurt the players, it hurts DayZ as a project. Have you read any of this thread, its been explained multiple times, PVE means more DEV work that is taken away from the "Original" game. This means a crappy product for both PVP and PVE, and the minute this becomes some re-done all satisfying standard mmorpg/fps the project dies.

Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome
xximrtwoixx replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If new players die before they aquire skills how does it make death worse for them? I think there should be a point buy bank that only refills every 24h to punish new players also but skills would have a much harsher effect on characters that have aquired them. This could also deter simple DM as a player would run out of skill points to use from their bank and if skills included weapon skills their combat ability would be negatively effected. Point buy also ensures that players can start off with the character they want, build the character they want, and that newbs aren't starting from zero. With specialization older characters may also be more friendly as they may have need of certain skills, ie medics, engineers, foragers, etc. Also as it was pointed out to you skill systems would not add "health" or other standard RPG/MMORPG type of stats, thus even the oldest IG characters would be just as vulnerable as a noob. This makes skills mainly another opportunity to turn up the stakes even higher and give death more impact while maintaining immersion/authenticity. With hacks you can't speak for everyone but gathering supplies, making a base, and establishing yourself/group is what alot of the gameplay is about I think if you remove the ability to do this you remove alot of the game play and additional emergent game play that this hording behaviour creates. (Like buying tent locations etc) Also I view these things as a players ability in a sandbox environment to control their own destiny, if you really hate starting w/nothing and being unarmed then work hard get a tent set up a base/horde and your set. Now your next character is a prepper. I prefer this to people bitching on the forums about not having a weapon at spawn, take care of it yourself you have the oppertunity.... -
weapons are fluff at this stage, we need more meat and potatoes IMO.

You can't expect people to trust a total stranger armed with a gun that can end their life in one shot. People that advocate for PVE are just trying to kick the game board over, take their toys and go home to play by themselves. If you were advocating for things to make the "Entire" game better like player built structures or specialization, skills, massive in game projects, etc then no one would bitch about it. You are saying you want a whole other game developed, and thats complete shit. I don't play wii sports and then go on the forum and bitch that I can't bash someone's head in with a bowling ball, and that the Dev's better put it in. I instead choose not to play a game that I don't like.

Multi Map Dayz - linked servers.
xximrtwoixx replied to Strategos (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Basically the transfer zones exist in both servers, so your at X01Y02 this exists in Map1 on the W border, this also exists in Map2 on the E border. A script gives a player/hive acount a token when they go past X01 as they are now in the transition. This token allows them to log into Servers running Map 01 or Map 02, when you leave the X1 or X99 grid you get a different token that only allows you to log into map1 or map2 dependent on what map you are on. This is a very simple system and has been used in privatley funded mods for games, so I think something like this would be well within the scope of DayZ dev team and current technology. This also allows players to handle the security problems with transfering and gives to much area for campers to camp, but would still allow authentic things like watching main roads for traffic. -
EVE concepts in DayZ (solution to horizontal load balancing)
xximrtwoixx replied to ShaddnArakh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the entire map could have some islands but not every server should be an island and not every connection should be via island. Say for instance the setting was TX @ South Padre Island, there are a few large islands off shore that people could get to but most of the other servers would be continental and not require you to swim, also one Island could have a huge bridge to it. Swaping between servers could be with a zone that extends the entire length of the map, you move into the zone your player gets a token on the hive that they can move to the next server over. When you transfer you are at the same relative position lat/long wise on the next server over. (Basically the transfer zones exist in both servers, thus they should be wilderness type of areas) This allows players to handle the security problems with transfering and gives to much area for campers to camp, but would still allow authentic things like watching main roads for traffic. -
Dogs as Detectors of Humanity
xximrtwoixx replied to SalamanderAnder (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Like the dog mechanic over a skin, you have my beans. I still think humanity/counter system is broken because there can be to many justifications for shooting someone in my view, doesn't matter if it resets or not it a counter will always be broken for humanity. The just needs to be more content that inspires groups to be larger and accept help from outsiders, ie if your building a town/clearing a forest you need extra hands. -
Yea because players that want a new game mode to avoid conflict will not complain about not being able to stop people from trolling them, stealing their gear, chopper, etc. If players aren't able to impose their will/defend themselves on other players then game mechanics have to be developed to stop this otherwise its just crap. Why would they waste *any* dev time to deliver such a crappy experiance as what you say you want? Saying you only want a switch is BS, you want a different experiance and a quality experiance isn't delivered with a switch so stop lying and accept/say that you want a different game. People will tell you to GTFO, yea but at least you're giving your true opinion. I don't know why people assume that there will even be an option for PVE or people to manipulate the experiance/game themselves. The whole point of the game is to expose you to a hostile environment where everything is against you, ie survival. If you look at what Rocket has said he wants this to be the same for everyone and he knows the best way to do this is create central servers, hell he's talked about EVE countless times. A set up like this costs money but he has already raised a shit load of capital with BI through the mod so its there, more money for people buying ALPHA/Beta of stand alone and he'll be able to set up enough infrastructure to support central servers. You will all be forced to endure the pain that DAYZ is, one central server with un-balanced non linear difficulty. Set standards for tags, view distance, FP/3P, Damage, etc. You will not be able to escape via AltF4/Disconnect, you will die, you will bitch, and you will come back for more. Or you will go play some standardized crap that has tried to ride the coat-tails of Dayz, were your doing the same thing over and over again with no risk. If your a good boy you get a cookie and you only have to deal with violence if you choose to.

Stabbing people with the hunting knife
xximrtwoixx replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Does anyone ask themselves why melee weapons or melee combat itself is not present in RV engine? It's because it has been created to assist with training soldiers for combat, and you should never seek to engage in melee combat. Range is a huge tactical advantage, going into melee combat throws away your advantage and exposes you to injury. A silenced weapon coupled with range > knife to throat, there is less risk. The image of a SF soldier knifing a sentry is complete BS fabricated for movies. In DayZ people are desperate and unarmed thus improvised weapons or melee weapons should have a small place I think. They should be an afterthought though, as they would/should only be used until you find a gun. Just as a handgun is *really* only used to kill/defend until a rifle is aquired/functional. The second point to consider with melee combat in DayZ is that the infected feel no pain, emotion, and do not care about their own survival. This would greatly increase their effectiveness even unarmed against an opponent in hand to hand combat. You would basically have to kill one with one attack in the .5 seconds that they are within range before they reach you, not only are most weapons incapable of this, but virtually no one is trained in a martial art that is designed to do this. If this were 1200AD maybe, but its not, so the training and weapons required to fight this way are non existent. If melee combat is outside the functionality of RV or whatever engine is used then it should be scrapped, it should be one of the last things on the priority list. Normal people survive being stabbed more than a dozen times, what do you think your going to do to an infected with a knife? Why is melee combat in every FPS an instant kill, its because if it wasn't you would be toasted by the guy with the gun. Incorporating grappling (The only situation where a knife may be handy) would be a waste of resources/Dev time IMO so I say no to knife combat. -
Move 9mm SMGs to the Sidearm Slot
xximrtwoixx replied to xQlusive (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think if the SMG's were made smaller in terms of inventory space it would accomplish nearly the same thing and would need less coding/balancing for things like secondary deployment time etc.. -
Choose between restart with nothing or with our stuff
xximrtwoixx replied to stewwy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Is that really a choice? Do you think anyone would select to spawn without their gear?? Death should suck, it should make you want to cry, I hope Rocket can make it hurt more. -
Wait for the bitch fest that creates, even if they can't get one massive server they can have geographically connected servers that all represent one world with one hive, ie Zones like EVE, but each being a server. No private servers, no admins, no abuse, no advantage, and a security level that will limit hacks and exploits like hiding foilage etc.

If you look at the drop rates you will see that the odds aren't in the players favor for getting a weapon at the first spot they hit even if it is a military spawn. Add to this the fact that other people have already hit it if there is junk there, and then you just get the junk they spawned but didn't take. So saying its so super easy to get a weapon is a false arguement, for this to occur players are both beating the odds and showing enough intelligence to look up and understand the spawns and choose to go to the best locations. To counter the dumbest arguement ever, if its so easy to get a weapon early in game why do you need a weapon at spawn... ugh lets shout in a cirlce.... I think most people that want a spawn weapon agree that its not easy to get a weapon early in game, this is why they want them. Its also bs to say "its only a hatchet" now it is, once that concession is made people will be bitching that they want something better, they want a gun, they want no damage when unarmed, QQ QQ QQ No concessions, nothing that makes gameplay easier, ever. Make the UI slick, make a sweet guide, whatever, but the gameplay should punish you.

FAMAS F1 5.56mm <<< Edited to add a poll !!! Please Vote !!! >>>
xximrtwoixx replied to Choice777's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Diversity isn't skins its actually different weapons, thats basically all the famas would be when compared to M4/M16. We need .22LR rifle and pistol, they would create a different "Slot" in the current weapons as they would be weaker than anything but unlike a shotgun could be semi auto and shoot out to 200m or so. -
Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch
xximrtwoixx replied to JulieMeyers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There is also no way for a system or code to determine if you are protecting someone, just as there is no way for a system to determine if sumone is a threat. The fact that rules or parameters are established means that people will know the rules and then abuse, min/max, and make them pointless. Thats why I think Dev time should be focused on the systems and subsystems that result in KOS/DM instead of trying to put a bandaid on PVP with skins and rules, its not going to work and is a waste of time. If you never talk to strangers, or never see strangers, or no one witnesses something then how would a rumor escape about a bandit, his acts, or his location?? Here's a rumor for you... "There are bandits at Cherno, Electro, NW airfield, and Stary you should avoid these places" Its common sense were 90% of PVP/"Bandit" action is, you don't need a "rumor" system wasting game resources to tell you.
