Despite Night's flaws, it can produce good experiences!
acebane replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Awesome. I didn't necessarily have a night-time meet up like you, but I experienced the night alone and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was at Krasnostav looting as the sun was setting and night was coming. As darkness came, I was trying to head to Devil's Castle but I couldn't see very well. I climbed up a radio tower that I happened upon by accident. Climbed up it and saw the silhouette of a castle. Maybe I'm not so bad of a navigator after all, I thought. I approached the castle only to find it was Black Castle (West of Krasnostav). As I climbed to the top with my flashlight, I realized the fog was too dense to travel at night without getting lost in those vast forests. So I turned off my flashlight, sat down and waited for day to break. The second the sun shined, I started moving, setting out to go to my original destination, Devil's Castle. Sun rises in the east, sets in the west was my compass. I was running along some railroad tracks for what seemed forever. The sun was beginning to set and I knew if I wanted to make it to Devil's Castle, I had to find a landmark soon. I ran inland and I happened upon a small village known as Gvozdno. But darkness had already set in by the time I got there. I turned on my flashlight, read the sign's name and found out where I was. But, I'm not sure what direction is which anymore without the sun to aid me. That's when I looked up into the stars, found the big dipper and from there found the North Star. I then proceeded west and it wasn't long until I could see Devil's Castle silhouette against the night sky. Once I made it there, I climbed up to the top and looked at the darkened landscape. Impressed with my navigating, I rewarded myself with some well-deserved food. I can't wait for campfires :). -
That's the beauty! Can't forget about shifting your whole body left or right, while ALSO being able to do a normal lean with it. Makes for a SUPER-LEAN lol. I've been playing hardcore lately and I found myself using the lean function a lot to get a bit "lower" to grab stuff under furniture without proning. Can you imagine how amazing it'd be to do the lowest stance (Furthest left in picture) under a car to either dispatch a bandit or get that well-hidden loot? Sometimes those window sills or furniture pieces don't cover us enough, or are too high for us to shoot our guns over. The couple of inches can make allllll the difference in the world...... Just get ready to change your push to talk key if you use left control =p.
-
You know, I agree with that. The shifting of a couple inches up and down helped add the immersion to peek out of a window etc. I've been saying that for awhile to my guys on my teamspeak. I feel though, your picture instead of words didn't really explain the idea or the purpose. Was hoping for a lengthy post explaining the benefits of the stance system :(

Shameless-Love-bump? I feel guilty :(

@Thehuntsman87, thanks man. Yeah, I figured I'd compile it in a nice guide for people. Since you're into camouflaging, how do you feel about all black? I feel it's viable still, but in certain environments you stick out like a sore thumb. When it rains, it's nice to wear black. @SHR119, Thank you for the kind words. I'm hoping this helps encourage the community to play a little slower paced, and not so loot-frenzy-mode. Did you guys use some of the techniques in the video prior to seeing it? If so, was there anything you didn't know that I mentioned? Just trying to see how helpful it was to more experienced players.
-
Anyone tried any of the techniques out and have a success story? I used it to get around in those tall apartments. I snuck away from a squad of guys looking for me by climbing a ladder silently, v keying across to another roof, then climbing down into the building and running out full speed. They had no idea where I went =p.
-
At first I thought "Yellow submarine mode" was using yellow text in the video lol. I'm glad you guys knew what he meant because I was rethinking the text color suddenly.

Hello Nex. I'd like to let you know I do very much enjoy the realism/challenge involved with hardcore servers. I however have two characters, regular and hardcore. I play regular more often because that's what the majority of my friends play. I think all server should be hardcore and there shouldn't be a single 3rd person view server out there BUT.... The reality of the situation is there are people who prefer 3rd person view and will never be interested in hardcore mode. I understand their perspective on it and respect their ability to CHOOSE what server they play on. This guide however is help ALL players, both Hardcore and Regular players. Of course I have to encourage people to use "Periscope mode" in 3rd person servers. If they don't, they'll be at a severe disadvantage. Fortunately for you, you have the choice to play on hardcore servers so no "periscope mode" there. I ask you respect other players' decisions in regards to what server they play on etc. From a guide-making standpoint, if I didn't cover it, I'd be failing at my goal. My goal is to give people tips, information, and ideas to assist them in surviving in DayZ. If you made a guide, wouldn't you appeal to both kinds of players? In any case, this "debate" is a life-long one that occurs on these forums often. I ask we try to keep the thread focused on the video and feedback. If telling me you won't watch it because I take advantage of 3rd person view is feedback, thanks I guess. Thank you for your feedback. Also thank you for trying to explain to Nex about 3rd person view. Your welcome, community! lol. I just want to encourage more realistic/strategic gameplay. The loot-frenzy playstyles are a bit dull and don't really savor the DayZ experience IMO. I'm hoping fixed zombies, more survival elements and other various fixes will make the loot-frenzy playstyles obsolete. Suppose that isn't fair of me to say, but it's an apocalypse after all! SECRET HIDDEN DESIRE OF ALL TIME FOR DAYZ: Stamina system, running forever is a no-go in my book!

Hey, Thanks Mr. S&P. Appreciate the feedback.

It's to combat the server-hoppers. It makes it so if you disconnect from a server and then join another server with the same difficulty settings (Regular vs Hardcore, since they have different hives per difficulty), it'll add the timer. It prevents players from "ghosting". Ghosting is when a player disconnects from a server #1, joins server #2 to move freely and get in a better position to engage a player on server #1. Then when in a good spot, switch back to Server #1 and kill the player. This system in particular seems effective enough. In your case of faulty connections, it kind of screws you. But to be honest, 300 seconds, (5 minutes) is not that big of a deal. Go get a drink and snack while you wait. Alt tab and watch youtube for a bit. With that said, be happy there's a system to stop ghosting/server hopping in general and wait the 5 minutes! :)

I went to Green Mountain... On the outskirts, I stumbled upon a body of a survivor, which laid mangled in a fence (Half of his body on each side of the fence) with two mysterious notes near his corpse. A warning if I've ever seen one... The notes were illegible (bug I assumed)... I began hearing many noises there, some that cannot be described... Before my eyes, the sun became blocked out by clouds the further I crept into Green Mountain's compound.. It was all too much for me... I followed my instincts and ran as fast as I could from the haunted mountain without ever looking back... All I'll say is, Green Mountain allows many enter, but very few leave... Heed this warning...

Day Z Youtube Series - Bandit Acts/Fire Fights/Day Z Questions
acebane posted a topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Hello Day Z Community, My name is S6! Acebane and I have recently started uploading videos to youtube of my encounters with other players. I'm very much a "PVPer" so I figure I would document my fights with others and share it with all of Day Z Communtiy. I try to keep the videos fairly short while balancing the amount of action and the context (to give it a little more meaning than random killing). Please bear in mind that these series are fairly new, but I'll add more as it happens (I got to play after all to get these moments captured). Some of the content may not be as prestigious as I would've hoped, but the mod is fairly new and has lots of time to mature. Also, I recommend you watch all videos in 720p HD. are gun battles in which fire is exchanged and is a longer fight than the usual *shoot oblivious person, they die*. I'm hoping to get more group fire fights going as time passes, but we'll see. are videos showing instances of me being a bandit pretty much. I'll show you how I do it, and how I sometimes kill those people for their equipment. There may be some disapproval coming from anti-bandit players - I understand that, but please I ask if you hate bandits that you don't watch this series. is a series I've come up with that will allow you guys to ask me ANY questions you want in regards to Day Z. Whether that be mechanics, opinion, patch notes, tips and tricks - doesn't matter, just come ask on the comments.Bonus Bandit Video: I would VERY MUCH love to have feedback on both this thread and individual video's youtube comments. I'm open to criticism and new video ideas. I thank all of you for taking the time to view this thread and/or my videos. If you like what you see, please remember to subscribe! I encourage you to tell your friends, and have them tell their friends about these videos! Check out my channel for more videos that may not be listed here in this thread. I currently play on US195 Super Six Gaming server, so if you would like to join in on the fun(or death lol), I look forward to seeing you there. Well, let the good times roll! Hope you enjoy the videos! -

Hello Day Z Community, My name is S6! Acebane and I make a variety of Day Z youtube videos. You can check out my , , and several other videos for Day Z on my Channel. But I decided to make a quick video to inform some of the newer players to the ARMA series of some tactics that are very useful when within a fire fight. I hope this helps and some of the new players learn from it. If you want more Fire Fight Tactics, show your support in this thread/youtube comments/likes.

ASIAN ELMER FUDD!!!!!!!! You'll understand near the end of the video. -
Hello Day Z Community, My name is S6! Acebane and I make a variety of youtube videos and you can view my channel from my signature. In any case, I do bandit acts quite often where I rob players and recently one player I robbed in actually had his SURRENDER key bound. I want to increase awareness of this keybind that is, by default, not assigned to a key. I make a quick video about how to bind your key if you are confused. It's up to us as the player base to spread the word of things like this to enhance gameplay. To yell at someone to put their hands up is actually VIABLE with the surrender hotkey bound. Hopefully with more people binding this key, more bandits will resort to robbing instead of shooting everyone on sight (disconnecting aside :/). So spread the word to all of your friends and enjoy spamming the key to make trolly videos as if you're doing the macarena dance :).

Someone said it should be stickied lol. It really could change the way SOME bandits play if they know they can straight out say "put your hands up or I'll shoot". Makes it so survivors, if they care about their life, have a chance to comply or die. Problem with this though, it's dangerous for the bandit to take a chance and make the survivor aware of his presence. Many survivors just end up saying "I'd shoot you in the face because I'm a hero and a badass!". That's because in a game world, we all want to be the badass hero who isn't afraid of anything. So the bandit is now in a bad spot, he just announced his presence and he's in close quarters (Where they can simultaneously kill each other, due to lag) with his potential victim. Many bandits say, it's easier to loot a corpse than it is an alive player. I can see both sides of the ordeal and at the end of the day, I think people using the surrender key will benefit the day z experience by a lot. Sure the bandit may not have such an easy time robbing people, but it's still do-able. It's expected to have some victims who won't give up their AS50 or L85AWS will try to shoot at the bandit. Suppose violence is the only way to deal with those people. So a little Surrender Key-Robbing and some violent approaches are necessary on both ends of the spectrum (survivor/bandit). Here's a robbing of the Nicest player ever who was legitimately scared of dying and acted accordingly.

LOVE BUMPING with a new Bandit Act! Spread the word about this thread/videos if you like them! Warning: THIS IS THE NICEST PLAYER I ENCOUNTERED AND I FELT BAD FOR ROBBING HIM :(. Banditry isn't always pretty, ladies and gentlemen. -
Hello all! I must announce that the us195 Super Six server will be taken down. On August 11th (MY BIRTHDAY!!) the server will go down. I ask you tell everyone you know who plays there to move their loot/tents to another server. Apologies all who made US195 their home but the upkeep of the server and frequency of the hackers just made it not worth the money. I'll still be playing Day Z with S6 crew, just on random servers. I'm thankful for all of your support/time you put in to make the server successful. I hope you all enjoy your future Day Z endeavors! Kind regards, Acebane.
