    Are blue barrels capable of storing anything? Found one, but, while it gave me the option to pour things into it (which I didn't do), I couldn't store any of my items in there.

    Was unable to remove a damaged MP5 plastic hand guard. And I have been unlucky trying to find a battery on the private RP shard I'm on, but it's been fun for me. Been playing for several hours... didn't rush to any high value loot places, but happened across a couple police cars.

    Yep. Also... no zeds in stable. Something you'd think they would've mentioned. They mention a few zed/animal fixes, but I don't think either are in the game at the moment.

    My guess is that stable servers will have zeds and animals... they were turned off on experimental. The changelog makes no reference to having them out for stable.

    This was mentioned in the status report. They will be able to tweak the CLE. They want to see how things balance out with the greater number of players over a much, much larger number of servers.

    I thought I read somewhere (could be wrong) that zeds spawns aren't client based. It may be that they can update servers to add them without the need for a new client.

    I agree about things like reloading and holding breath as soft skills. The more stamina you have, the longer you will be able to hold your breath and the shorter the hand sway when you stop running. The more you work with a weapon, the faster you would be able to reload. So long as it doesn't give you a kind of auto-aim or more damage for a weapon, it should work as a soft skill. What will make players want to stay alive is the fact that they will lose these skills if they die. The problem I see with soft skills as it was originally described is that you will get the PvPers who don't care about soft skills still being able to shoot/die and re-engage with no disadvantage.

    I just did a test and went through Cherno on a pretty full server with no weapon wearing an orange raincoat. Made it from the spawn point near the construction area all the way across to the supermarket (saw 3 people and 2 in the distance and 1 tried to kill me with a pipe wrench). Not one zombie attacked me or even chased me. In the end I died, but it wasn't from the zombies. I got pinned down by the usual Cherno sniper douchebags... 1 on top of the firestation and the other on top of the Tall industrial towers. The first one broke my leg with his first shot. The second one took 7 or so shots to hit a guy crawling in the grass. But I survived and ate and drank for about half an hour or so... and had no problem with the zeds. Now, you'd say... well, you still got killed. Yes, but in regular gameplay, I'd never stick around Cherno like that. Dealing with the zeds requires stealth. But, it's not impossible, it's not even ridiculously hard. The reason the recording is split is because I alt-tabbed to see if it was the game or my computer.

    On second thought, I take that back. As I was typing my last post in the Steam overlay, I heard a zombie groan and immediately tabbed back and was terrified wondering where it was. So... there ya go. Tension is back in. I actually fear the zombies now. And not just a horde, but... one... my heart is racing over one zombie somewhere among the trees.

    Alrighty... had my first sneak attack encounter from a zed. I must admit... at least until they fix the fact that you can't hear them, the mile a minute blows should be reduced. That I'll agree with. I had a zombie come at me from behind from... who knows where and before I could even react, I'd been hit several times in about a second. This is one instance where I concede that a bug with the zeds should be addressed before the zed attack speed is buffed. This is a fair point.

    I'm intrigued. I haven't played the stable branch update yet, but I did play the experimental build of .55 and did not have the problems surviving described here. You're able to hide behind trees and cars - though, bushes don't work so well. Use your environment and treat the zeds as though they're actually dangerous. In other words... dealwidit. Adapt. This is a game-changing update... one that has been discussed, intended and (certainly by me) hoped for since the beginning.

    bet we'll see more of these ^ as people figure out that the Infected and melee don't mix any more. Have the zeds gotten harder between the experimental branch and this stable update? Cuz I was killing zeds with a small hatchet in Cherno a couple of days ago. I just hope they've fixed the silent zed issue. Couldn't hear them running up behind me.And so, it begins... the "zombies are too hard" noise. It was the same with the mod. Now, the zombies are an actual challenge. They aren't supposed to be easy to kill and it should be hard to kill one unscathed with a melee weapon. Stealth. If you're stealthy, they can be avoided. It's the run and gun (or run and loot) folks who are going to have issues here. What you've played to date is not what the game is supposed to be. With zombies being harder, the game is finally beginning to move toward what it is supposed to be.

    Anyone else experiencing silent zombie attacks? I'm not hearing them run up behind me. And, I know this probably happened a while ago, but leaning angle seems more restrained - of course, it may change with new character controls... but it makes leaning seem almost useless in 1pp.

    Is persistence still going to be wiped weekly? This kind of thing impacts gameplay pretty significantly - can I store it? Or do I have to make sure I'm only gathering what I can carry? So, I know there have been some adjustments to the loot economy and loot spawning. There was a mention of mandating persistence across all servers in this patch, has that changed?
  20. Several updates ago, there was a change to the controls. The one that stands out most to me is the one that eliminated using the run key while crouching. Now, you have to sprint to run while crouching. It worked better and was much more intuitive the old way. When you wanted to run while crouching, you hit the run key. If, while crouching, you needed to get away quickly, hitting the sprint key would allow you to stand and sprint... when you finished springing, you'd return to your crouched position. This made total sense and made it easy to sprint between buildings or trees from a crouched position - it was authentic and intuitive. I don't understand why it was changed. Now, I've also discovered that you can't crouch with your hands up (meaning fists raised, weapon raised) - which is just strange. Not intuitive at all. It's quite clunky, in fact. It would be great if they returned the earlier controls, or if not, find some that were more intuitive and less clunky. It's all a work in progress, right. :)

    Thankfully, unlike in the mod, wearing a ghillie will have disadvantages. 1: you have to make it, and hopefully netting will be rare (sounds like it is at the moment). 2: It'll make you hot, so people won't be able to camp in trees the entire day. 3: you can't wear a backpack with them (or is that only the full ghillie?) I'm also wondering about persistence. Does it still have the same problems as it did in .50? Are there still going to be persistence wipes every week on stable? Edit: played outside a lot... never made a ghillie. If you're going to speak hyperbolically, best not to use the word "literally." ;)
