Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113925
Shadow Man replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
The entitlement is strong with this one. -
Well technically the point is just to survive. Potentially another player could kill you to rob your beans because he's starving. Many people soon come to the conclusion that the best way to survive is to not trust other players and the best way to know that a player is no longer a threat, is when he's dead.

How will flying work? Simulator or Arcade?
Shadow Man replied to DayzForumer's topic in General Discussion
Extreme realism would be best in my book. Throw any civilian in a heli that has never flown one and there will be one true result: Death. This should be reflected in game if heli's are implemented. -
what kind messages you will leave on NOTES?

Killed by zombie horde in no-man's-land
Shadow Man replied to Orcinus (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
5 zombos isn't what I'd call a horde. The minimum for a horde has to be at least 20. To be honest I'd like there to be hundreds coming at you out of the woods. -
Does anyone know if Rocket came to any sort of decision about whether ragdoll physics would be implemented? I wasn't sure if it really suits Dayz, but there's nothing quite like blowing someone across a room with a shotgun :P

Feedback of an ArmA Veteran and DayZ N00b
Shadow Man replied to derdoe (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I don't think I would be playing Dayz just minutes before having to go to a wedding. I'd probably miss it. I never really play Dayz unless I know I have a couple of hours when I'm unlikely to have to stop. If I know I have to stop in 10 minutes I play differently, I mostly avoid player interaction. -
Weird Mouse movement DayZ standalone.
Shadow Man replied to Nibiru (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
No its definitely not the same as Arma 2. I have what seems to be negative mouse acceleration, that is, if you move the mouse slowly you turn faster than if you move the mouse quickly. -
Yeah most players are still kos-ing. I have to admit its hard to resist the temptation of a good ol' punch up ^_^ The only thing to ever make a difference will be the zombies. Its either PvP or PvZ. Players and zombies will never be able to have an equal threat level, its simply not possible.

Um... Doesn't everything you've just told them to do make them the same?
-
Whats wrong with it?

Your first encounter with a player in SA
Shadow Man replied to Herkon's topic in New Player Discussion
Night time, I think near cherno but not sure. Saw a guy murdering someone with an axe, shone my torch at him to distract him in the hope to save the poor guy but he was already beyond saving. Axe man turned and ran straight at me, I raised my fists and danced round his sluggish axe trying to jab at the back of his head. His axe found my body and I ran for my life into the trees to bandage. -
You can recover. I ate rotten food and got sick, ran around looking for food and drink. Found some vitamin tablets and took some (no idea if that actually helped), made sure I was never hungry (but not by eating rotten stuff) and drank everything I found. Was lucky to find a water bottle and drank all of it. My sickness started to get better a bit later.

Lawn mower Parachute for base jumping Sledge/snowboard (they could work on wet grass) Skateboard/rollerblades/skates for making those long walks down roads a bit quicker. Fireworks/small rockets for attaching to rollerskates to make rocket skates

Poll: What are your thoughts on the Standalone?
Shadow Man replied to Fold's topic in General Discussion
Generally I'm well chuffed. Its so much better than the mod. All the different items you can come across, many of which are usable as weapons. And thats the biggest thing for me, MELEE! I can fight zombies without a super glitchy axe! Zombies aren't perfect but at least they seem to "hit" in a direction now. I played for a few hours on a server with about 25 other players and I don't think I saw a single one, I think this says a lot about how much more there is to do already compared to the mod. People are spending much longer in towns looting, rather than doing the sprint through either cherno or elektro and heading to NWAF. The downsides for me are server hopping. This really breaks the game in my opinion. Negative mouse acceleration but that may just be me. I'm not too worried about KoS at the moment, as the game is developed and things are added it will sort itself out on its own. Ammo being in short supply rather than rare would be the quickest solution. If you just found 2 or 3 rounds at a time you wouldn't use them for no reason. I'd like to think that if some guy came up to me pointing his gun then he may only have one shot, and in this game its easy to miss. Was nice to play on a full server at a night too, I was sad to see the mod turn into daytime only. The one major problem with night is the way torch light goes through walls and you can spot players miles away going through buildings with torches. Makes it intense though which is good. I'm not sure how I feel about the huger/thirst indicators. I'm not keen on the text but I don't really want the icons as in the mod. People have already been stressing about not getting the "I'm full" message, which is just silly. I won't be returning to the mod  -
Help with navigating the menu/inventory
Shadow Man replied to frenchyboyjack's topic in General Discussion
Are you trolling? Edit Sorry that may be a bit harsh. Basically you're saying the mouse cursor isn't visible? -
Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
Shadow Man replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't respawn like it did in the mod so no its not a bug, it stops loot farming which to me is a good thing. I'm not sure if it never respawns though. You can miss all the coastal buildings if you want, if enough players do that, I should find all I need on the coast. -
Here we go again ..armed players kill newspawns..
Shadow Man replied to Merle_Dixon's topic in New Player Discussion
This one detail is, for me, a glorious improvement. There is now a (albeit small) price for being a geared player. -
If you start at the top of the list and double click each server, despite them saying 40/40 or whatever, usually one will let you in. I've managed to get in within 6 or 7 tries.

Ambushing a T-34 Tank for revenge and another suprise... (DayZ Epoch)
Shadow Man replied to devildogdelta's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
There is a reason why a lot of people are not liking this. Its meant to be an apocalypse. I wouldn't expect to be able to "buy" a tank, or much else for that matter. The closest thing should be a Mad Max/A-Team style home made armoured car. That at least would be plausible. If they implement a welder perhaps you could strip parts from old cars and stick them the outside of another one. This may be fun in its own right, which is fine, but people don't like the connection with Dayz because its so far removed from the original mod. -
Still primarily killed by zombies
Shadow Man replied to RAM-bo4250's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, it's not like fallout 3, where its unthinkable to leave that house without checking every box, every corner and every shelf just for the chance of some great stuff. Its easy for games to make us like that but in Dayz its really not the wisest course of action. -
Ambushing a T-34 Tank for revenge and another suprise... (DayZ Epoch)
Shadow Man replied to devildogdelta's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
"Vanilla Epoch". Thats a good one. To me Vanilla means the original mod. Seems more like wasteland than DayZ
