    Russian Roulette mini game

YES thats what I'm talkin about. Come on Rocket, make it happen!
  2. Shadow Man

    Remove Death Messages

Yes but hardly anyone wants to play on servers without them.
  3. Any sort of perk, handicap or modifier that is based on playstyle is an instant no. The only viable way to make DayZ more balanced is by fixing the things which are wrong. Things like brush rendering. Personally 3rd person unbalances the game in favour of the sniper.
  4. Shadow Man

    Raw-input.

Well an option to use either would be nice. Then we can try both and use the one we think works best.

    Logging in and out

Sounds ace to me! If I was a new player I would say my heart would be racing while I tried to figure out how to escape alive. This is a good example of a situation that is theoretically possible in real life. "You find yourself in a building and you hear voices nearby that you can tell are not friendly. What do you do?" Maybe your only hope is to make a run for it and hope for the best. Just imagine how memorable it would be if you actually made it to safety doging bullets all the way out of Cherno! Its these siuations that are what DayZ are all about. Not find some loot then log out. Whats the point of playing the game? Honestly, what is it you want from DayZ? Because it sounds very different from what I and many other people want. You also haven't thought that those campers might not have such an easy time. Remember, THEY cant log out either, and everyone knows that. First thing most players would do is check the popular sniper spots. I'll bet the numbers of rooftop snipers are reduced. As someone who never ever logs out in a town, if I have to shoot a zombie on top of the school, I don't stay up there long. You get a couple of players heading your way and you know there's gonna be trouble.

    Logging in and out

Its always been a thorn in my side, talking about a persistent world. A game where you can freely move to a low pop server, gear up and then go to another high pop server is not what I call a persistent world. Because of the vast number of servers available it basically means there is a huge loot pile somewhere just for you to go and grab stuff before returning back to where the action is. Thats not scavenging and suviving, its exploiting. Players should be locked to one server. Unless there is a better idea that creates a persistent world.

    Biological Night Vision

This a tricky one for me. When there is a moon then yes you can see quite well. With a full moon and no cloud you can see surprisingly well. But with no moon at all, it really is as dark as DayZ portrays. In real life you would not know where the hell you were if you wandered around without using a torch. Why would peole be out in the pitch dark looking for loot anyway? Maybe because there's less chance of anyone else being around, but then someone else could be doing the same thing. The night time gameplay in DayZ is quite realistic if you ask me. People you try it, walk through a wood at midnight when there is no moon and see how well you can see without a torch. The one thing I would say about DayZ is the way the guy uses his torch, waving it about like a retard while running. Make turn on/off a mouse click too.

    Frostbite.

I'm liking this. You could put trench foot in too for prolonged exposure to wet weather with the wrong footwear. Hypothermia. Along with the infection/illness stuff there's a big list of symptoms to deal with. :beans:

    Logging in and out

I like the idea. Combat logging and ghosting are the two most unrealistic events to happen. The fact that you can have a building or a base completely secure and a player can just materialise inside is utterly rediculous. The only drawbacks I can think of are that in the event of losing connection you would pay heavily (happens maybe once a week to me). Unless the server can make the decision based on how a disconnection happens. Also, how far does this region need to extend? Whats the maximum distance a sniper can sit from Cherno or Elektro and still shoot at people? This means either a huge area of log restriction, or a very irregular shape of log restrition based on line of sight. You could have to run 1000m to get out of the no-log zone.
  10. If you're gonna have potatoes you have to have sausages. What better to go with your beans?
  11. I disabled the mod to play ArmA and now I get this. I enabled the mod again and am joing an official server. I noticed that the battleye writing is red now which I don't think it was before.

    Unplayable Freezing (New Issue)

I used to get this playing ArmA. The only thing that sorted it was rebooting my whole pc, but it would soon start doing it again. After getting DayZ and all the various updates for DayZ and ArmA it seems to have stopped doing it.
  13. So to make a console that was up to modern pc specs it would contain tech that makes it cost a grand to buy. Hmmm I see.
  14. I would love to see DayZ on console. I agree completely that consoles create a level playing field. None of this team speak, we all have the same machine and all run the same graphics settings. Part of the reason I'm rubbish at DayZ is because my pc totally old. Consoles are inferior, but they try hard to hide it. If you compare the map editor of Far Cry 2 between console and pc, the pc lets you place infinite(I think) exploding barrels. The 360 lets you place about 20 or something. Vehicles are the same. If I win the lottery I would make a console that was on a par with modern pc's.
  15. What I want to see are zombies that make your life hell. They are the one thing that can make firing a weapon suicide. The more I read in these forums the more I am starting to believe that pvp and pve can't exist in the same place at the same time. As soon as players survival depends on not killing each other then you have a pve situation and the game will be fundamentally different. Even if you are able to kill others players, no one will anymore because the game will have been made in such a way that its too hard and there's no point anymore. As soon as the balance tips one way even slightly, then the whole game changes. Although I'm still hoping I'm wrong :D

ADR- The "After death replay", like in Civilization.

I'm pretty much in agreement. I like the idea but to be honest if you have to wait even one hour the chances are you'll have started a new game and will soon not care about your replay. Unless you had the most amazing lone-wolf-versus-team-of-seven win.

    Cholera/Crapping Pants

Diarrhoea may be a symptom of cholera. But by that logic I've had cholera many times in my life, which is seriously unlikely. One symptom could mean any number of things. Also, I have had the misfortune of having diarrhoea while hiking in a large group. I had to hold it for some hours and I can tell you now, you are absolutely physically unable to hold it in until your intestines burst.

    Colapsable AS50

I'm thinking the AS50 should need to be dismantled to carry it. It could be used in the way the machine gun nests in ArmA work. You choose your position, then assemble the AS50. There could be very slow crawl adjustments because of grass etc but no more run and gun. You could leave in set up where is and run off but to take it with you it needs to be packed away.
  19. Its not poor game design. Its a damn apocalypse. You don't think that in real life there would be a shortage of food? Ok the game needs some work but people would have eaten all the food and killed lots of animals. Starvation would be more common than it currently is.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Maybe they should release it a bit earlier. Just in case the world does end I'd like to play the stand alone at least for one day... :)
  21. Intersted to know people first game of DayZ leading up to their first ever death. The first game I played I spent alot of time crawling around trying to get used to the controls and unsure how visible I was to zombies and players. I remember it being quite stressfull not knowing if I was being watched. So I climbed up the nearest ladder and onto a big flat roof to have a look about. While trying to crawl near the edge of the roof to look down and observe zombies behaviour, I slipped and fell to my death. YOU ARE DEAD

    Please don't implement passing stool

My hope is that it will be as simple as eating a can of food. Just an animation like 5 seconds of being in a squat position. No silly long straining animations. I think the idea behind it is to make areas more unhealthy. Its not about the animation of having a shit. Its so that the populated areas becomes cesspools. Statistically the places that players are spending more time (Cherno, Elektro, NWAF and Starry) will be shit in more, thus making them more consequential to visit. I'm sure Rockets idea is not about the act of having a dump, its about the effects.

Food and drink should be more rare

Yes, just play on Namalsk and its just right. You really feel the need to look for food as much as weapons. You're glad to get a weapon only so that you can defend yourself against the Z's while looking for food. Add to that the shakes from being cold. Its a good balance.

    Where's all the kids?

Dead Space 2 had killable necromorph children.

Discussion of the standalone defecation\poo feature

Looks like we're all talking shit again... Something occurred to me a while back. I'm not sure its really a good thing to have an alpha open to everyone. I know its great for feedback and all that. But its impossible to not get used to the game the way it is before its finished. All the things we like DayZ for now are not necessarily going to be same when its finished (whenever that will be). If Rocket talks about implementing this or that mechanic, he's not ruining the game we love because it doesn't exist yet. We need to remember that we're just testing the alpha for him. I must admit I'm finding it hard to imagine how taking a shit in game will not just be a source of trolling etc, but also remember that if a huge majority of people are saying the same thing, be it good or bad, then there's a good chance he'll hear that and MAYBE do something about it. Don't bank on it though, from what I can tell he couldn't give a shit if the whole thing goes down the pan.
