  1. Molotovs? Knives? Ninja stars?? :D
  2. Although I understand entirely the desire for global chat(or similar), it boils down to what sort of experience you want DayZ to be. For it to be realistic, you cant be able to make long range contact with someone you haven't met. Unless its believable. Like a loudhailer or something. You could implement walky talkies, so you could talk to team mates but to be honest thats already done in teamspeak. From what I've seen of interviews with Rocket, he's not too interested in making the game convenient for the player. He wants it to be a struggle. Personally I think removing global and side couldn't come soon enough. There are plenty of mmo's with global chat, why not embrace the change and see the game for what its meant to be not what you want it to be? I'm not hating btw. Friendly! Friendly!

Suggestion for a Better Humanity System

Anything which lets you have information about a player that you cant find out from meeting them in game shouldn't be allowed.
  4. Never a truer word spoken. Even having skins for hero/bandit makes people play in a different way. If its possible to have X amount of anything, players will effectively stop playing to try and achieve a number. Whether its kills, humanity or whatever. DayZ needs to remain as close to reality as is possible in a game.

Decrease number of psychopaths with Karma system

If the way zombies behave is done right, they may cut down alot of sniping and "fun killing". A sniper rifle on a hill makes alot of noise, if zombies make their way there it forces snipers to move on after firing. I don't think a karma system seems right for DayZ. I'm of the opinion that in a real apocalypse there would be psychopaths waiting to kill you. Somehow you have to make it much more beneficial to not kill someone if you stumble across them. Maybe if loot is rarer, the only way you can get some stuff is by trading with players. If you shoot them, 50% of whatever they are carrying is damaged and useless. Or something like that.
  6. I like the idea of "friending" a player. But I don't like the permanent nametag. Although very useful it doesn't fit with the game. I would prefer to have to recognise a player by appearance like clothing or something. A nametag would highlight a player in pitch dark which seems to easy. They could show up on gps, providing they have some way of being tracked, like they must have a gps too.
  7. This is what I think. Zombies should be reasonably easy to sneak around (they see you if they're facing you etc), BUT if they see you it should be bad. They alert all nearby Z's. Shouldn't be too bad for new players. I think their movement needs to be less erratic, so you can shoot them, but they need to run indoors and straight at you. The other option is they move at half speed, but there are 3 times as many of them. Either way it needs to be VERY important to not get their attention. Infection would be great to see. Vomiting, blurred vision, trembling. Maybe food and drink have reduced or adverse effects. Maybe if a character dies of the infection they become a "super" zombie npc of some sort?
  8. In 6 months of playing as a "friendly" survivor, I never really tried to kill anyone apart from self defence. I was in Elektro behind some houses near the general store and started hearing occasional shots. Another survor running, looting and killing z's. All of a sudden I decided to track him and try and hunt him down. It was much harder than expected to keep sight of him while not letting my presence be known. I lost him a couple of times but caught up again after hearing more shots. By now my heart was beating out of my chest. There were over 15 players in the server so the chance of running into someone was very high. I decided to make my move and ran with my revolver into the general store. Fired a couple of shots which missed and chased him outside. We ran all over the place trying to line up a decent shot. I fired a few more shots but just couldn't pin him down. He realised I wasn't giving up, and Alt-F4'd. Despite that, in was a pure adrenaline rush.

How to 'force' new items to respawn?

To me this is about how something is properly implemented in a game. I can understand the point about deep scavenging. But I personally think it needs to be fixed so you cant loot cycle. I think Rockets vision is about authenticity or believability. Obviously there's only so far you can take realism in a place where the population is continually dying and respawning. In a real life apocalypse if you were the first one to find the loot, quite simply, you'd be the lucky one. Loot spawns happen to give people a chance of finding something. But surely its meant to be just a chance? It gives value to items that are rarer than others. If you're going to all the trouble of loot cycling you may as well just hack yourself a few essentials and save yourself the time. Btw no I don't hack :)
