Well I use Fraps, I'm sure there are others that are better but thats just what I use. While playing you just press F9(you can change this), then press it again to stop recording. Fraps lets you click the vid location. You start movie maker and drag the clip over. Do any editing(which isn't that hard) and then then export to your own computer. Then go to youtube and upload. Your first step is getting capture software, after that its easy, and can be quite satisfying and fun too.
-
Ok but honestly its not hard. Once you have the software its simply a case of pressing a key to start recording. Use windows movie maker to export, then upload. You don't even have to edit much if you dont want to. You should look into it man.

Bring back the debug menu! or at least another way to find out my humanity!
Shadow Man replied to elf cakes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think thats the point isn't it? You're not supposed to feel all warm and comfy in a zombie apocalypse. Do you just want it to be easy? Surely you carry a couple of cans of food with you? Thats plenty of time really. I barely take notice of my hunger until its red. Look at it this way, there is no such thing as 100% blood. If you cut your finger you don't panic because you don't know how much blood you have left. You're in trouble when there's an obvious colour loss in your vision. Man I wish the debug had NEVER been there at all. Everyone fussing over exact numbers. The whole point is that you don't know. -
[DayZ SA] Will DayZ remain a sandbox game forever?
Shadow Man replied to Penny Sue's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well I pretty much agree with everything the op said. As soon as a game gives the players absolute free will, they will all start killing each. Even in Arma2 (not DayZ) you get people team killing randomly at your own base just because they can. Other than servers, there is only one way to limit players from killing on sight, and its the zombies. Imagine, hundreds of zombies that can follow you indefinitely. The only way to survive is to either kill them all or barricade youself in somewhere. It would need to be nearly impossible to survive on your own though, and somehow a huge benefit to team up with other players. A player, ANY player, has got to be made to think "Thank f*ck, another player", and really feel like its valuable to not be on their own. For the non KOS sight players this would be great, lets all build bases and develop clans and factions etc etc. But a huge number of players only play because of pvp, so we could lose all of those entirely. I have no idea how this would be done without radically altering the game or losing a large percentage of players. The reason players kill on sight is pretty simple really. For some its the only way to guarantee you stay alive. For others its sport. After you're fully kitted out, what do you do? Well, I guess I'll head into town and look for trouble. So we create things for players to do, dare I say missions...? That is one huge can of worms. To be honest I'm not sure you can change the way people are playing DayZ without making changes so big that it stops being the game as it is today. I can imagine a whole other mod seperate to DayZ which caters for roleplayers, probably called Z Day or something... Other than that, the only thing is servers. -
Good for you for not alt-F4ing, shows some integrity and despite dieing they would have respected you for trying to get away cleanly.

Not everyone wants to cheat. I choose not to look at online maps deliberately. Royal, with regards to bumping into players, what you choose to do depends whether you have a mic for direct chat. If you do its much easier to try and approach another player. You can talk while moving around(you may have seen this on youtube) and lets you keep behind the player. What you say and how you deal with the situation is one of the best aspects of DayZ. But if you are typing in direct chat, it puts you at so much risk as you are a sitting duck.

What was your very first ever DayZ death?
Shadow Man replied to Shadow Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like these first game experiences because they're quite often what I imagine to happpen in real life. Before you've got used to the game and know every way out of any situation. On my 2nd or 3rd game I started a new guy in the evening. I decided to venture out away from the coast(no compass or map of course). I didn't find much and my hunger was getting worse and night was falling. I came across a barn and had a snoop about. After being attacked by some zombies I had no choice but to run for it. Not realising that torch I had started with did in fact have batteries, I ran blindly through the dark, being chased the whole time. I stumbled my way through a farm in pitch blackness all the time hearing the zombies gurgles and screams. I ran and ran across open fields and through woods until eventually simply falling down and dieing of starvation. I'm pretty sure that sort of thing won't ever happen again. Unfortunately. -
Killing children is fine if they're not normal and healthy. eg

Only way to be sure is video evidence. Otherwise anyone could come up with some story abot what they did.

You want some more progress screenshots of DayZ Standalone?

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

I cant see many ways to stop server hopping other than having a player locked to a server. -
I guess a good gauge would be this: How difficult should it be even if you are the only player in a server? The z's should present some challenge surely?
-
Trouble is, loads of people who have got used to DayZ being a pvp based game will just be irritated by the zombies more, rather than playing the game differently. If Dayz had just appeared as a finished game, it would be accepted for what it is. Its one of the unfortunate downsides of making an open alpha.

How to make the zombies more of a threat, by only changing a few small things.

I'm assuming that was directed at me. Would you mind being a little more specific about your problem, rather than talking like a dick? -

How to make the zombies more of a threat, by only changing a few small things.
Shadow Man replied to Hello moto's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ok, I have been on low pop servers simply to avoid being killed. But only to get a break from being killed over and over. The way it is now it just seems a bit unbalanced. The bandit factor absolutely has to be in the game, no doubt. But they shouldn't be the primary threat. I want the zombies to be f**king hardcore. They need to be hard enough that camping on a hill and firing one shot with a high powered rifle is nearly as risky as being the guy he's shooting at stood in Cherno. Then it would give would be bandits more to think about rather than sit and snipe while drinkin a bud with their mates. Making the zombies brutal but not impossible is the trick though. No one will want to play if they all see you from miles away and come running. Zombies are stupid, but infinitely persistent. Their awareness needs to be predictable but punishing. They should run straight at you. Yes, that makes them easier targets but then there could easily be more than all your ammo. -
As much as I would LOVE to have ts removed and everyone somehow forced to use ingame chat, it just won't happen. The lengths some people go to to gain an advantage means they will always find a way. People will just grab a cheapo second pc or a laptop simply to run ts on.

I'd say that is absolutely correct. The crucial part being the direction of the barrel of the gun to create the correct trajectory.
-
Ace has been put into a private hive, but I think they decided to take out the stamina. The idea of stamina does appeal to me, but seeing your character start passing out after running for 30 secs starts to get really tedious. Takes ages to recover too.

What about it? Also momentum is not a force that can accelerate anything. With no physical resistance of any kind to a ball or bullet, its velocity(after its initial accel) will remain steady and not continue to increase. This is its momentum.
-
The decompression of the ball can only accelerate it while its still in contact with the club. As soon as it is not touching, any remaining decompression will act in opposite directions to the centre of the ball. Thus no more accel. Whoops, slightly off topic...
-
So, after a golf club hits the ball you're saying it accelerates? Can you tell me what force is making the ball accelerate AFTER it leaves the club?

Shadow Man replied to elf cakes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm glad the debug won't be in it. For all the people who seem to want it, just wait until the UI is even more simple. No temp/blood/hunger/thirst icons? No ammo/clips in top right corner? You'll forget about the debug when you're counting bullets.
