  1. Shadow Man

    Dream Map

If you could play DayZ on a map from a different game, what would be your first choice? Mine would be Fallout 3. The open wasteland, the DC ruins with all the huge enterable buildings to get lost in. And don't forget the metro tunnels.
  2. Shadow Man

    Respawn button.

I would rather they fixed the game so that respawn was never needed.
  3. Shadow Man

    Dream Map

I don't see why. We all like new maps to play on and I just like the idea of a "place" I'm already familiar with. I'm not after a discussion about other games. @samirocks Yeah I did wonder what the right place was for a thread like this was. And yes the map would need to be stretched a bit.
  4. Another pvp thread?? We will all just have to wait for the SA to see for ourselves if the changes balance out the gameplay for for non pvp-ers. Although I rage when I get killed for no reason, I do seem to spend alot of time doing laps of Cherno spawn points to see how long I can stay alive in the most hostile place. Last night I spent 40 min crawling around in the pitch dark with broken legs typing help into direct chat while throwing flares. Rather strangely, I was killed by zombies in the end...

    "Hey, I know you!"

Havent read every comment but what if the time delay for recognition varied over distance. As in real life if you saw someone in the trees 100 metres away you could easily spend 10 seconds trying to work out if you recognised them, but if you walk round a corner and are face to face then you'd instantly recognise them and the name would appear instantly.
  6. Shadow Man

    Ponies

I'm not riding a damn pony. I'm 6'3". Horses would be good though. They could spawn at farms and they'd be more useful than a dog that barks at a zombie giving away your position.
  7. Its not always visible but you def know there's a good chance of becoming sick. And whats that about things outside your control? You are not in control in DayZ thats the point. You've got to look after yourself. I think the chance of you suddenly dropping dead for no apparent reason is unlikely.

    ... worried about standalone :(

By annoying you mean it was inconvenient. It interrupted your game at crucial moments, potentially changing your state from one of control, to one of uncertainty. This in my mind is a good thing.
  9. DayZ was never designed to be a pvp game. Its just ended up that was because of how the game is at the moment. It was never going to stay the same, and if you knew nothing about where Rocket was going with DayZ then thats your fault. Sounds like its not the game for you. Rocket doesn't care if you don't like it. He just hopes people are open minded enough to try something new and different. And fucking hardcore.

    ... worried about standalone :(

Is that good or bad?? I really liked Far Cry 2, if anything I wanted that game to be more hardcore. That was one of the few games that pushed the boundries of what people expected from commercial game and was heavily critisized. People seem to like being spoon fed for some reason.

    Colapsable AS50

"Under 3 min using nothin but a screwdriver" Still not exactly pick up and run. The idea was for balance. With such a powerful weapon there should be some degree of realism. The 5 sec ArmA animation pretty quick I'd say.
  12. Shadow Man

    Colapsable AS50

    Just LOL
  13. Shadow Man

    Please don't implement passing stool

Puts a new meaning to "I'm just going to log off" Just think of all the youtube vids of people being caught literally with their pants down! Def should be in game. With varying sounds for constipation and diarrhoea. Mybe if you get really sick you could vomit and have diarrhoea at the same time?!

    Perma Death - extension

Nice idea but also cant see many agreeing. I often wonder whether your character should be locked to one server. Less server hopping.
  15. Shadow Man

(whispered) shouting to reveal your position/presence

How would someone you've never met know you have a broken leg, need meds or dying without you actually saying it? If your idea was automatic add ons to your chat message of "Hello, can anyone hear me?" I don't see how or why the other person would obtain tha info. Its making the communication less realistic. The fact that you could be lying about you condition is exactly what DayZ is about. Its a no from me.
  16. So I was thinking, if there was a cholera outbreak, and I found er... whatever it is that cures it, I could send a radio message out (would require a radio to receive message) saying "I have cholera cure at *place*, trade your stuff to get cured!" Then the first person turns up, shoots me and steals the lot. Well what if by shooting me it damages some of the stuff I'm carrying? He may get lucky and find some undamaged, but might need quite a lot. Could help to reduce kos and by god you'd have some tense player encounters. I could have nothing but shotgun to ease your suffering...
  17. Sounds like a deathclaw. Might be fun but somehow it doesn't fit with DayZ.
  18. Sounds fantastic. But I have to agree with badbenson and riggsuk. The problem is that no one puts any thought into dying, its no big deal. For me that cant be right. Even if it them ages to gear up, they don't think twice about attacking someone and risking it all. They just respawn and go to all the usual places to find gear again. I don't know how you make people value their characters life without ruining the freedom they have. I hear the phrase "Don't get attached to your gear" alot. The whole point is we're meant to! I'd like to see average life span alot higher. Sorry loads of posts while I was typing :s
  19. For base building, there could be spawns of sandbags and wood piles. Like an ammo pile but just like 300 sandbags or a 50 planks. You could pick up as many as you can carry or whatever and then then there could be an otion to "build wall" or something which uses a certain number of them up. The size or type of construction would need different numbers of sandbags. You could do the same for other stuff. You could build stuff out of wood found in farms, or combinations of different stuff. The number of units in any one spawn could be random and the difficulty in transporting them would mean you wouldn't have bases springing up all over the map too quickly. You would need to have limits on vehicle capacity obviously, It would give people something to do other than gear up and then find a way to die. Imagine, if you spent long enough you coul have a whole new town built! Not sure what restrictions there would be with servers though. Is there a limit to how many "objects" you can have?
  20. I had no idea the zombies used to be like that. Thats just how I want them to be. If the zombies have already been calmed down because everyone complained then there's no hope. Its seems the majority of players don't play DayZ because its a zombie survival game. They play because they want it to be be an open world deathmatch. For those of us that don't kos and have more of a role play idea about the game, we may just have to accept that it will only work in private servers. When developers change a game because of what the community ask for I just despair sometimes. What makes any developer think that giving the players what they want is a good idea? They should just make the game and we play it. If we don't like it we don't play it. And thats the problem isn't it? Sales. It comes down to a need for the game to be played by as many people as possible. Even this one. I have thought for a long time now that if Rocket made this game the way HE wanted to, it would not be played by half as many people as it is now. If you were to take money out the equation it wouldn't matter how popular it was or whether he gave people what they wanted.

    Falling Apart

Also worth noting that with fraps a video of 2 min is about 1.3 GB. So you need lots of hard drive space for big vids.
  22. Shadow Man

    Falling Apart

No idea about streaming I'm afraid. Fraps does have an impact on performance on my pc, but if you have a new build then you may be ok.
  23. There definitely needs to be craftable weapons that you can make before you get hold of a gun. Bows and spears are good. Perhaps the most primitive weapon could just be a stick or branch from a tree. Would require you to beat zombies to death but its a good start.
  24. Shadow Man

What was your very first ever DayZ death?

A true zombie death. Panicked frenzy of fighting for the door, being battered to the ground, crawling in desperation for the door as your brains get smeared across the floor... YOU ARE DEAD
