A better and more relevant example would be nice. If I need weapons to survive in a harsh environment and all I have is a piece of junk handgun, I will take an assault rifle off someone else if I can't find one. Whether or not it's over their dead body, well I will do what needs to be done to live. If I went into a camp at night and killed everyone in their sleep but it turned out they had nothing of value, THEN we can start venturing into mental repercussion territory. Also maybe people don't feel bad about being 'dicks' because they ARE 'dicks', it's what they do. I bet remorseless killers would thrive in such an environment as DayZ, because they will kill without going nuts over it. I really don't want to get into this again, so I just want to say I agree with this Fair enough being in a group has many benefits e.g. safety in numbers, lots of support, ability to get things done as opposed to going it alone. That will help with people just shooting on sight. As for the names, as long as my name doesn't just pop up and incite KOS on me because I did a few bad things then I guess I agree.

Banditry ≠ griefing Someone isn't a griefer because they got the best of you and took your stuff, a griefer is someone who will screw you over for fun. If we didn't have people killing each other in DayZ it would be bloody boring. I don't kill people if I don't have to because it makes me feel bad for them. I don't really care so much if I had no other choice or they attacked me first. Yet despite this the game is supposedly going to force me to go crazy about killing a complete stranger, as if I just murdered my family with a rusty spoon? Pretty much this. If there's no drawbacks for being a friendly survivor, but there are plenty of drawbacks for being a bandit, then it isn't really a "play how you like without restrictions" sandbox game. What if nobody chooses to be a bandit anymore because it's got too many automated features that make it not worth playing? There goes the fun of being shot at, there goes the paranoia of stalking through Cherno at night. Things shouldn't be interfered with. When infection was changed, if you complained that you kept dying you were told to suck it up and adapt to it. Trusting randoms and getting shot in the back of the head and then complaining? I say suck it up and adapt. Hopefully in SA there will be more things to do that need 2 or more people, so you will be used before you get shot (or you can convince him you aren't worth killing, you don't have way better stuff than him).

You can go as fast as you like on a straight, clear road but there should be more consequences than a simple tyre change and some engine parts if you fly off the road into a tree.

it's easier to be a bandit because you never put your life in the hands of other people. That's just realism and no matter how unbalanced it seems you can't place restrictions on people after telling them they can play the way they like. If there was an apocalyptic scenario today the people who won't last are the naive and gullible who try to be good for the sake of it. It's a predator/prey scenario, bandits are the cats and friendly survivors are the mice. If you want to be a mouse then expect to be hunted by hungry cats. Don't get angry with the bandits and punish them for playing on the weaknesses of others.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to "The Problem". I don't like bandits so I'm going to support 'features' that make the game less fun for them so it is more fun for me! Epic clap for you guys, making DayZ worse one step at a time. Exactly, so if you kill someone their stuff might be covered in blood and if you don't disinfect all the stuff then you risk getting all dirty and sick. I also feel guilty if I kill someone who was innocent, no need for a system to be introduced to force people to play a certain way in a SANDBOX GAME.

DayZ isn't already coop? If you mean spawn with friends etc I say no play it like a man and find each other the old fashioned way.

or maybe people will learn not to rocket down curvy roads at 100 km/h when their car is rendered useless wrapped around a tree.

It.. it's beautiful... >download tech demo >commence fapping

that sucks, the best part about darkness is the panic you feel when your last flare goes out and there's zombies chasing you in the dark.

What if every time you log in it takes a screenshot, when you die it cycles through the images from first login.

[SA] Suggestion to "remove" corpse running!
Chris529 replied to robim's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think your corpse should disappear if you come near it, but this sounds like it would work better. Even if the gear doesn't get broken/zombies don't mess with it, with SA there will be hygiene to worry about so I guess all items would eventually be tainted. -
I guess if you have an idea where they were heading you can try to get there and wait for them, or if they have a certain vehicle you could keep an eye out for it with a chopper or something.

How many Australians play dayz?
Chris529 replied to Horseyspc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not a really good question, I'd say majority of the players are split between America/Australia/Central European countries. Fair enough if you were asking about Somalia, but not Australia. I am assuming this because every Aussie I know who actually plays vidya games has DayZ or is at least planning to get it. -
The worst thing ever about DayZ/Arma
Chris529 replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know right, sometimes I'll be walking somewhere outside and I try to look around. Then I remember real life doesn't have an alt key :( -
I get what OP means, in order to use melee you have to get close to the zombies but in doing that you risk infection and death. That said, I don't think melee is useless. As long as you can either get them while they are unaware (night is so easy because of this) or 1 on 1 then you should have no issues. The problem is a mixture of melee being risky in the first place with zombies getting lucky hits, and the rate of infection / amount of antibiotics that can be found before you die. by lucky hits I don't mean being shit and missing all the time, I mean those moments where you have a shot lined up and it twitches like a spastic nutter, you miss and it gets you.

Doesn't sound like a very good server with admins that do that sort of thing. So if you find a sniper rifle just drop it to avoid camping so you aren't playing the game wrong?
-
I don't count fishing boats as actual boats, just useless floating wastes of fuel. PBX would be awesome though speeding up rivers doing 70
-
very good idea, would make boats way more useful

fill with piss for instant infection

Why do peoples actions need to dictate their appearance?
Chris529 replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought the wanted poster idea was okay, but who will be putting them up if you are dead? Dead men can't talk. There could be a skilled bandit stalking the lands, leaving no-one alive and you would never find out. To be frank, I think bandit skins are crap. It won't change in the mod but for the SA I hope there is a much more subtle way of determining if someone has been naughty. By that I mean bloody hands from searching corpses or leaving a machete in someone's skull; not a new set of clothes that cries "shoot me in the head or I'll kill you" you instantly acquire from shooting a few people. I don't like to generalize anything, but when I imagine a generic "keep bandit skins in" post, I think of some gullible carebear, who has been taken advantage of too many times and demands help from the game to mark all the baddies. Usually these posts have some obscure reasoning to justify having skins, I'd say the most common one is "IRL you would be a complete nutter shaking and hallucinating if you killed someone" (by this logic PTSD is instantaneous and occurs in 100% of murders/killings). Some posts are just biased to shit, the tone of some reeks of "I hate bandits in general and will do whatever I can to put them at a disadvantage". To those annoying carebears: I'm sorry you thought you made a buddy but he shot you when your back was turned, but it's time you hardened up and learnt from your mistakes instead of making everything suit you. Bandit skins are terrible (deal with it) but yes we will throw you a bone in SA with bloody hands (hopefully) and custom clothes. I guess people will dress how they play, by that I mean for example a well armed bandit might want to wear camo and webbing/tactical vests to help them in fights. If people had more stuff to do together, more of a reason to be cooperative, then there wouldn't be as much banditry. That's why putting a skin on bandits doesn't work, people still distrust each other and now there is 1 group of people who will be shot at by everyone else. That doesn't fix the problem since there is still nothing more to do, it's just a desperate attempt to get people to stop killing. -
My brother was kicked why am I ?
Chris529 replied to Darkdeath17's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Obviously if you were on the same account then both will be banned, if you each have different CD keys then it must be an IP ban or something. Post here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/131116-chocolate-milk-namalsk0741-private/ if that's the same server -
Who isn't into choking? speaking of choking 'ain't nobody got time fo dat' should be able to smack them over the head or something more efficient.
-
yeah temporary would be okay for explosions or lots of shooting but nobody wants to play a game where you will go deaf until death. It's one of those realism aspects that would take much more away from the game than it would ever add.
