PSA: If you put "No KoS" in the title of your server, I'm going to favorite it and stop in every day to kill at least one person
Chris529 replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
I'm just not buying the idea that KoS is a big pain in the ass to bug testers, sorry. If you truly want to bug test, join a low pop server with your friend and get right on it. I think the chances you notice a bug and then are immediately shot by someone is so tiny that it's hardly a reason to support no KoS servers existing as they are "bug testing outlets". That is, I don't think "no KoS servers are great for bug testing because you have much less chance of being shot" is really valid. High pop, no KoS or not, are always going to be riskier than lower pop servers, that's the truth. The absence of any possible murderers is safer than a guideline advising people they shouldn't shoot on sight. Also remember that doesn't mean no killing, someone could say they're gonna team up with you and shoot you when you turn around. -

I'm lost. You're saying we need no KoS servers to bug test? It's just my opinion, but I'd say people who bug test are probably friends meeting up with that in mind, not strangers who are somehow willing to waste bullets instead of playing the game. I'd also say you're more likely going to find a bug during a panicked CQC incident, you shot the hell out of a guy but the beans in his pocket where you were shooting were undamaged, and his gun was undamaged despite being shot to hell. -

They're asking a bit much, getting in on an alpha that's limited enough without taking a lot of PvP out of the equation. IMO they should play it 'properly' until it's more finished. I don't see where the anger is, I guess OP is just using the rules (can't make him not KoS) to spite the people on non KoS servers. The server is only in trouble if he kills someone and they do something about it. -

Actually, I'd say OP's side of the fence is much calmer than the other, if you count insults as angry. I reiterate: Do you guys get this riled up when a hacker breaks the rules and kills everyone? I'd hope not. If private hives are coming for SA, then no KoS servers are coming. -

I doubt they would enforce it, it's probably just advertising for people who don't like KoS to come and play there with similar people. (how boring) -
DayZ doesn't manage global bans, BattlEye does. They won't unban you for saying sorry though.

fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game
Chris529 replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
The idea is the zombies are too tough to fight alone, so you group up to make it easier, right?. So you find some people to stick together with, now the zombies are no match for you and your group. They are easy, it gets boring, then what? Buffing the zombies might get people to work together, but then it's not individuals roaming around bored of easy zombies, it's groups of people instead. This could be better though; it would be awesome to have completely player run factions fighting each other, making alliances and forming huge groups etc. Thanks to clothing they could make a uniform for their group, paint vehicles, the sky is the limit here. -

I personally don't see the correlation between the game being harder and players being nice to one another. I think it depends on the type of zombie, typically either alive or dead. DayZ is using the infected/living type, so they should be as fast as ordinary people and have similar sensory capabilities. The problem with the slower ones is you can just run away and they aren't too threatening. Also bear in mind it would be very bad performance wise to have hordes of zombies instead of a few quick ones here and there. -
early alpha OK it's alpha, but IMO it was an early alpha months ago Maybe progress wise it's fairly early but still

I don't really think this is a solution to coast campers, nothing is stopping people from running back down from the north and doing the exact same thing. What's the difference between a fresh spawn doing this and someone from the North? It's not going to reduce the number of people who do it, it will just make it take slightly longer for them to get geared up & start killing. Meanwhile the people who would go to Balota so they have a good chance up in the North get screwed over; now they are even less likely to survive the trip to bigger and better things. It's not worth it. If people lack the brains and the balls to go North and just want to sit around at the coastline wasting bullets, let them. It's not like we can stop them anyway.

they rage quit and the corpse vanished

Got run over by my friend in the night because I was crouched in grass I don't own SA but i've played it, dumbest death on there was again at the hands of my friend. He thought I was someone else and he panicked.

Super secret backup for VIPs? :D

I don't think there's too much difference to be able to tell. Sounds would be the best, grumbling stomach means very hungry and panting or wheezing means your throat is parched

Regarding the people complaining.

It's a mixed bag, whinging/whining threads are inevitable but a lot are just trying to be helpful, pointing out different things. Hopefully we see more of the latter, especially when things die down a bit. It's too much for some people, they expected a finished game or something but got what they got and aren't pleased. Also inb4 whinging about whinging threads ermagherd git out -
Damn, I was going to inb4 people inb4'ing people calling alpha, too late :( It is an alpha though, just sayin'.. ^j/k, it's good to report things like this so it can be noticed and adjusted accordingly, BUT it's to be expected and will be fixed so don't make a big thing out of it. Also I think this is the wrong section, might have to go in general discussion? It's just this is the mod area now, not that important though.

I think this is a good idea, but the other is probably not worth all the effort if it's even possible.

1st post, asks for hitmarkers in dayz, provides no arguments for his idea. He seems pretty legit guise.

^ yep middle mouse button or enter, it's probably easiest to use the mmb.

Handguns/sub machineguns only of course

Smart, so when you shart your pants you can wash them while you finish the poop ;)

Been suggested a lot but it's still a good idea, drive bys would add much more.
