I dearly hope so at least it wasn't a "LUL I DID A BAKFLIP GUISE SO 1337 STEP BAK PRO P1Lo7"

You're a tool for believing servers could be safe in the first place. Hackers can hit any server at any time, even a whitelisted private hive could be cheated on however the most likely place script kiddies will wreak havoc will be on public hives. They are just not to be trusted. Just because it says 'safe' doesn't mean shit, what are they gonna say no our server isn't safe from hackers? I can't read eh? Well here's your OP summarized: 1. Just died lost a ton of good stuff 2. Story telling, hopes raised by chopper crash crushed to smithereens by hacker 3. More story telling, angry from death and getting spawn killed by hacker. People leave. 4. The guy teleporting to people and killing them must be a hacker! 5. I thought it was a safe server, fuck the hacker and this mod, wasted my time so now I will be a troll on DayZ. Sorry if it came across as a whinging sob thread but come on man look at it, if you take out the first sentence of the last paragraph it is literally the definition of a 'rage quit from hacker' thread.

Shit happens and nobody lives forever. Surviving is just prolonging your inevitable death, which can come at any time in any form. I kind of liked the premise of Project Zomboid, that you have already died and you playing the game is just telling the story. "These are the end-times. There was no hope of survival. This is how you died.". I like to think this could be applied to DayZ as well.

Isn't it also kinda pathetic to get killed in a videogame then go onto a forum to tell your story and vent, like a small child throwing a tantrum after they drop their ice cream.

NZ servers always attract hackers for some reason, I only go on them when there's nobody or a couple people to be safe. If the hackers are annoying you could go to a private hive. http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/1872/nz06.png

DayZ Developer blog 26th April, Video from PAX and our latest "building"

I was scrolling to see if anyone else wanted to call it Скадовск / Skadovsk :P would it be too much to ask for a train station named Yanov? -
how about if you come within 100m of your corpse it disappears and all your loot is gone. I guess you could tell your friends to go get it but if you play alone then you won't be going back for your loot.

Ban appeal | DayZ German Hometown server
Chris529 replied to Lord Vacuum's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I think it's ironic that servers ban Russians when you think about Chernarus being the main map, and you have to either learn the Cyrillic alphabet or memorize all the places. It's pretty intolerant but if it's private hive they can do what they like. They usually ban if someone starts typing or talking in side chat in another language, because nobody knows what they're saying. -
what's the best loot you lost from a untimely death caused by yourself or a friend.

I took a hacker's stuff while he was afk (I assume it was, ghillie, all tools even radio, as50 TWS and PDW SD) but as I ran off but not 10 seconds later I exploded. -Once I made the mistake of trying to swim onto the shipwreck at Rify, sudden death and lost m4a1 CCO SD with most tools, rangefinder, ghillie, coyote backpack and PDW. -I tried to take off in a huey that was somehow wedged between a couple of trees, it flipped up into the air and exploded killing my friend on the ground and myself. Didn't have anything spectacular but we raged. -One of my first WTF deaths was I was somewhere south west in a town waiting for some zombies to pass, prone on the ground with Ak74 kobra and some other stuff. I felt like a king since I was still pretty new. It was fairly dark and this zombie came out of nowhere for no reason and knocked me out and I died. -My friend ALMOST killed me once because he was panicking shooting at a zombie and I was on the other side. He broke my leg and I had very low blood but I didn't die, I would have killed him I had ghillie, coyote, bizon SD with a few mags and again a lot of tools. -
this happened to me a couple times a few months ago, once was at NWAF there were zombies around but they would never aggro on me and the other time I can't remember where I was but same stuff. It was all pretty random and everything else was fine, no desync with good ping etc. so I don't know if it's happening more often with the new patch or if it's just an old bug

Loot 'injected' by server. Is this common?
Chris529 replied to RunLikeHell's topic in New Player Discussion
Sounds like a hacker to me -
he better have been using a crowbar or it's not him
-
A good place to start would be to go into the options ingame and turn everything down to the lowest. If your FPS is still bad then I don't think there's much to be done, but whatever you do please don't go looking for FPS boosters etc or you could get screwed over.

I did that only I was trying to sneak through a town at night and I fired my shotgun, it was not good. Probably better than the time I alt tabbed to check zeroing distances for the DMR for 10 seconds and came back dead.

Dayz commander only showing 8 servers
Chris529 replied to Ompuff's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
this happened to me recently because it hadn't downloaded the server list yet and would only show a few servers that were in my favourites. Clicking refresh all servers fixes it, unless he has a different problem. -
What's the current state of hacking?
Chris529 replied to Luke42_02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
usually I stay away from higher population public servers because hackers tend to go on and kill everyone, low population should be safer. Private hives are usually safe. -
Some people are beyond dumb.
Chris529 replied to LeastDionysus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lol some people are just seriously terrible shots, a private hive I play you spawn with an m9sd, there's always some bandit wannabe hanging around the spawn who blasts 2 mags at you. You don't die of course it might mess you up badly but I usually just crouch and take careful shots while they waste all their ammo missing. Similar thing happened while I was on a Namalsk server, I was at some army base and I found a corpse and took an ak 74 off the corpse (swapped hatchet I had because derp) and some dude was crouched emptying his m9sd at me. I ran around him for a bit while he struggled to get hits and I eventually swapped to my m9sd and knocked him out in a few hits. I said something obscene over direct at him and emptied 8 bullets into his unconscious back, killed an aggro'd zombie but when I turned around the dude had combat logged. -
I'm pretty sure that's global for all servers on the latest update
-
I turned my firewall off, not really recommended but if you are careful online and have good antivirus software then that's an option.

I still don't think adding more zombies/making them stronger will do anything to make players work together. It's all one big competition, and making it harder to survive is just going to put more and more pressure on players to take whatever they can whenever they can. This would include shooting your newfound friend Larry in the head and taking what he has, because if you wait any longer you'll have to face a ton of super zombies to get supplies. so far the only thing i've seen to get people together and work towards a common goal, is sometimes when a server is almost empty people use side chat to get together and go fix a chopper or something.
-
definitely don't need hitmarkers, people would just spray bullets at anything that moves to check if there's someone there. pretty much this
-
then again this was the same friend who also got scammed by someone on steam called "Steam Administrator" and got his password. He also got ripped off $200 from a CD key site and didn't even call the bank to get them to reverse it. so it was probably him more than Norton being dumb
-
I have not heard good things about Norton, my friend said it installed onto every PC on his home network and he couldn't figure out how to get rid of it.
-
come to think of it i've done some stupid shit too, I've disabled my anti virus once to let a program run because it kept stopping it. Turns out, that isn't the best idea and I had to reformat my computer
