Yea - when you get in, get away from the main cities - its not to bad when ya' fresh because you don't have much to loose... but playing on low population servers, and taking your time to look and do a 360 degree check every minute or so its good. Breaking contact when someone attacks you is not to bad... you'll see. Surviving a close encounter from another player, is thrilling.

You was flyin' for maybe... 6 seconds? That all adds up to over all experience as flying and you only get better with time... :D

Yea I got DSL right now, using a wireless connection, several walls between myself and router. DSL connection plugs into the phone cord, which is routed miles away to another larger router box and then my guess is to the companys station... thats a lot of middle men for a slow connection I've got... I still manage 1MB download and I think 350KB upload... which now a days.. is crap. Not sure about Hughes net - do a google internet speed check and see how fast you're going...

PVP is - what some would say the core of the game. Trust only IRL friends... There are no PVE ONLY servers, you can find servers that look down upon PVP, but it still happens in game. Trust me - its fun, the adrenalin rush from sightin' your first player is gonna be a real heart pounder' :D

I think its possible. The sales end what? Jan 5th?... something like that... wouldn't be surprised to see a release date then or shortly after... wouldn't surprise me if BIS applied a little pressure to old Rocket, to keep him quiet until the statics of the downloads slow down for this reason... Perhaps... *chin rub*

... Could use duct tape to quiet your ruck so you make less noise when moving... put it all over crap that jingle-jangles. Not saying make your character a ninja or anything - but it would be kool I guess to see this type of pointless detail into the game. Duct tape used on the end of some magazines improves pull time from the pouch - and could perhaps lead to faster reload times... Sure I could come up with more ways, but I don't really feel like contributing much right now. :D

I already have my phone set to follow his twitters, have to check his reddit, check the DayZ offical website (which has been updated with a kool xmas video) and also check on the forums because so far hes not had a single, main place for news input to his people. Thanks for registering just to tell me to use pending notifications to fill up my mail box... I think I'll keep doing the follow that I am currently doing... which is... check forums, check reddit, check twitter, check DayZ Offical website... which is a pain.

I see no problem with the asking for more information - he stated he would be giving us a update if the game was delayed right away, and that the game would be out before the end of the year. So if his would be customers get upset if it doesn't come out before 2013, and hes yet to at least say "Hey guys, not this year" ... Thats a pretty big fault in my own opinion. I hate checking every day for a game that I really want to play. I ain't gonna lie - every day for at least the last month I've visited this forum when I've woken up, and before I go to sleep. With a few days left in the year, and your last true statement about the production status of the game being a riddle, a shade of grey... when he said he'd inform us if its delayed... is just bad. So with that said I'm still checking - unless I failed to investigate the internet enough for the answers... I haven't seen him say himself, that its delayed, and last I heard DayZ was coming out in Dec of 2012...

More importantly I was talking in regards to the temp, water, and food UI - why have the one thats "going to be coming out" also...?

My favorite is hitting both the B, and V key when you don't want either... Lol.

Wrong signature file. Arma 2 missions.pbo - helped him out. These types of errors don't get recorded in some server logs. :| Had him close out and restart computer - since this was a recent install, this could have a negative out come if not done. Had him go to steam, right click Arma 2, go to properties, click on local files tab, and run a verify integrity of files. Result was 2 corrupted files that where downloaded and replaced. Had him go into Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead to do the same method. This was most likely unneeded but might as well at this point. Note that Arma 2 will still work correctly even with this issue, because most the time it gets support from the combined operations folders (Arma 2 OA), but DayZ also uses the mission.pbo file from Arma 2 not just Arma 2 OA. Upon completion of this - he simply started to play and enjoy DayZ.

Sometimes players must sit in the lobby, rather then join the game right away until he gets the message stating that BE is updated, and running. The very first time I tried to play DayZ - I'd join right away and BE wouldn't start up right, and I'd get kicked. After sitting in the lobby for a bit (had to do it several times because I was auto-kicked for idle) it stated that BE was updated, and running correctly....

Ok for the painfully over-looked approach then. You using a wireless setup? Are you able to see your connection as you join? Does it appear to hangup? Have you restarted your machine since installing all these items? (the game software itself?) The reason I'm asking the above is because we've had several members lately since the update, having computer specific issues similar to these that prevent them from playing (hanging up at the waiting on creation while joining screen) while they would have a family member on a entirely different computer, on the same connection - playing without issue.

You are running the current verisons, so thats not the issue. You are using DayZ Commander - just double tap and make sure it enables the MODs required to play DayZ itself... To do this load into the game, attempting to join - once it kicks you (you should be at the multiplayer screen) back out to the main menu (press cancel in lower corner) from the main menu - you should see the follow listed in the upper right hand corner... arma 2 beta expansion @DayZ If there is anything missing, go into your expansions tab at the bottom of the main menu. From there - make sure the following are checked... Arma 2 Arma 2: British something Arma 2: Private military something arma 2 Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead beta expansion @DayZ Now regardless if you've got the Private military DLC, or the Brit also - it should still be listed from my understanding. I don't own either of these also but they are listed. If there is anything else listed in addition to that - unselect it. The only ones I've listed are whats needed. If for some reason you don't see Operation Arrowhead, Brit, or Private expansions, the issue could be that you have not yet run them as combined arms. To do this, you need to be in steam. I would walk to through this process, but I haven't done it in so long. Googling something along the lines of Steam Combine Arms how to should bring the desired results. As Fraggie stated... DO NOT download programs that assist you, DO NOT download programs that promise to increase performance... If you are still having issues, PM me - I'll walk ya' through it on steam chat (voice) if ya have a mic, since getting someones problems solved now a days with text can be a rather slow, and barbaric method... ;D
