DayZ Super Fun Adventures! EP1: Sniper

    Whats going on Jan 17th? ... 0.0
  2. finkone

    Should i play now?

While you are waiting, fix your signature. OP - With Arma III getting released this year, and DayZ standalone shortly coming to a release point as a alpha stage, I can't see Arma II having much more shelf life to be honest. I've played Arma II, countless mods, and so forth for the past YEARS on it - and my digital copy will some how be stored to collect dust once these two games get released. With that said - you will see the Arma II modding, and community grow very, very small once they get their hands on Arma III and the DayZ SA. Wait. Check out Project Zomboid until then - its still in its early release, but a interesting game thats young also.

DayZ Super Fun Adventures! EP1: Sniper

    Simply awesome. Enjoyed it.

    Just saw Rocket again.

Has to be the best thread in all of the forums, well .... second to the Jan update postings.
  5. Pick the hardest mode - and check out some of them cross-winds, its sweet when ya' have to crab walk the helicopter just to keep your bearing because of crosswinds. Using the foot pedals and making minor corrects are the keys to flying in ToH as it is IRL. I have a ten fold easier time flying around in DayZ as compared to ToH. DayZ = arcade fell in regards to helicopters. ToH = even landing in a slightly windy condition, exciting... and thats not even with my DayZ gear at risk.. I could only imagine... :D
  6. I got you covered - awhile ago.
  7. QUESTION ROCKET You stated that there will be a closed testing for the standalone. Does the closed testing have a estimated date of end - for example... there are in general a few reasons for closed testing. 1) Closed testing is performed to gain the over all opinion of others for balance, and adjustments reasons. 2) Closed testing is performed to correct core game mechanics errors/foundation fixes. 3) Closed testing is performed for performance gauges of actual live connections in relation to stress testing . 3) Closed testing is performed for final tweaks, and is going to be put out for general public soon. I was just wondering if DayZ SA falls into a category at this point for testing, or if it falls under some, if not all? Not asking for a release date - just wondering about the status of the SA at this point honestly, can also give a rough idea for someone in panic mode like myself. Thanks.

    Interview with Matthew Lightfoot

This is the most useful set of forum admins and teams I've ever seen.
  9. I was drunk, with some friends, and we decided to morph our last names into viking-ish warrior names. We had a lot of axes, swords, and beer that night. I ended up with FinKone. My house was trashed - even my poor oak tree out back...
  10. Won't be long now.... I'm going to have to make the choice... to chain you up... keep you around for company, talk to you... Or kill you and remember you for who you where... BABYDOC NEEDS INFO ASAP!
  11. Sweet looking forward to it. Thanks for taking your own time and effort for the sake of others mental well being. We are all slowly turning, and our only cure is information about DayZ... :| PS I personally wish I didn't have to tuck my damn pants into my boots... 1.5MIL USERS HOT DAMN
  12. 10 minutes left - don't you dare pull a Rocket! I'm completely interested in this audio. Edit: Give or take a few minutes... ;|
  13. On topic Nice to see some news, and good news at that! Someone showin' DayZ SA on stream is gonna have a retarded amount of fans... See how happy your fans are for simply photos, and some details? This could have happened a lot sooner. I'm assume the cans, spawn system, and that table cloth have been made for awhile - it would have put a lot of water onto a out of control fire. Off topic In regards to Rockets twitter about Arma II and its ranking on Steam. Arma II hits high on the steam sale, due to DayZ SA delay - BIS ain't stupid, its a win win for the company, still wouldn't be surprised if they forced you to delay on their behalf. They give you more time to release a better product, and get to make more money off the Arma II game... for those that say people don't pay for the DayZ mod - that is a thing of the past 1.5mil is big. Arma II didn't hit that high of a sale for no reason - or because all of the sudden its "in"... Either way - looking forward to the future now slightly more then I was earlier today, seems sad - I know. Can't wait to see footage of people playing, I can already assume I'll not be one of them anyways. QUESTION Most likely a dumb one - I wouldn't have a render distance of my show case either.. But that photo of high up - over looking the map... ... removed draw distance perhaps...? ;D Add wind for long guns - I don't care! I just want to see further! PS - Rocket I started watching that old interview - HOLY HELL MAN. You've got to start puttin' some weight on man. You can tell this games sucking the life out of you. If the zombie apocalypse starts because of some odd mountain dew/long hours of coding death... ITS ON YOU.

ZOMBIES : I Want more Zombies

For a idiot like myself, in technical terms... I have no idea what a damn section is, if 5 is bad, or if 1 is good... I like the idea of swarms so to speak, I don't like the idea of slow ones - this is a entirely to open of a world to be truly "boxed in" you'd have to be a idiot. I don't like the idea of "stronger ones" - next thing you know if that gets carried away, it will be resident evil. Head damage for the win. It would be cool to see some heavy ballistics knock down not to balanced zombies, to have them slowly stagger back to their feet and continue pursuit - not all of them should have the ability for sprint speed, but most should.
  15. Let me start off by saying, sorry to the admins and mods of this forum... I cannot control myself any more. Thats why he had to go quiet on the release for the standalone. BIS sent him threat letters in the mail... There is a copy floating around the internet some place... and I quote... (Boy this one might get me in a little trouble. :D) "Dear Rocket - we @ BIS know your modz free. Ppl buyin' Arma II like hot cake 4 free mod- har har!har!! DO NOT TALK TO YOUR FANS! WE LIKE SELL HOT CAKE! Very important you wait until hot cake sale over on Jan7th before doin' N E thing K? So lets milk cow K? We know ur plaze of work. Think bout it... think bout it Rocket. LOVE - BIS PS - Plz consider adding the animals we talked about again with free time #3 animal iz must!! Photo enclosed in paperz!" Attached photo that was recovered...
  16. Played for a few hours on a DayZ+ Whitelisted server I found posting on this forum. Within the 2 hours, I have 2 tents, 1 MP5 SD, M9, M4 (iron sights), loads of food, loads of water. The zombies are a threat if you are in the mix, down in the city... and I have seen people fall victim to them that tried to engage me... Its a nice mod of a mod over all honestly. The zombies are not a threat if you understand the sorry mechanics of them - IE dragging through buildings to loose, tree sitting, I'm still quite able to do a run through of a town without being careful what so ever and making it out just fine. It does make you worry slightly more then normal, and food seems slightly harder to find if you ain't looking in the right places. Over all I love the addition of skins - which these should not feel rare in a game like this - in this mod they are not. Enjoyable. If you do want something slower paces, try 2017...

    English explorer in DayZ.

Double tap ctrl doesn't work on pistols sadly. ;( I'd enjoy bumping into you - love the in character crap. I often go with a slightly redneck approach which I find fun. I'll have to upload some...

    Just saw Rocket again.

Rocket invited me over for some music... I didn't replace the face entirely because some of you might be to young to remember this flix - That and I suck at editing GIFs with GIMP. ;(
  19. Ok lately there has been a high number of threads asking if they should buy Arma II, but they are not buying Arma II for Arma, they are buying it for DayZ. I know, I know - they paid nothing for DayZ... but really guys, do you think that Arma II climbed back up to 8th most purchased game on Steam because of ACE/ACRE and Wasteland? Hell no. With that said... Pros and Cons of Buying Arma II for DayZ MOD Pros : You can play the MOD of DayZ NOW You can get your feet wet and not be so green for the standalone (learning the map and so forth) You can try to find friends that you'll be attacking the standalone with Cons: Do you have extra money? Regardless if its on sale - you are most likely completing a impulse buy to play DayZ. Do you even know what the Arma II itself is about? Have you research Arma II Arrowhead as a game itself, or just DayZ? Do you think you will play the DayZ MOD when the standalone releases? (I know I only will if the standalone is down for some reason) Pros and Cons of the DayZ MOD itself Pro: Very exciting to run into other players Very realistic in terms of zombie survival MMO Cons: Many hackers (private hives safer... but I like public) Many bugs/glitches/errors (It is a MOD after all) Many young kids now (It wasn't always KOS...) No end-game, which leads to high PVP, which is bad for a guy like you trying to learn the ropes. ;) I've played Arma II for years, and have enjoyed it. It can be a frustrating and exciting game all in itself. A lot of people popping up here - I can tell, are not Arma II players. With that said I'd hate to see them simply spend some extra cash because they can't hold themselves off since there is no news about a release... My final words to guys thinking about getting into DayZ... Since we have NO NEWS AT ALL - it can be hard, hold off. If you are doing this simply to play DayZ - just wait for the standalone. The standalone is going to be more enjoyable, with less script kiddies (... I hope.) Think of it from a logical standpoint. Arma III is also coming out this year, DayZ standalone is right around the corner... Arma II for a veteran Arma guy like myself... will finally start to collect dust... So - check back here, EVERY DAY, because the release of information about this game is in riddles... but I'd say... JUST WAIT.
  20. Everyone knows BIS has Rocket at gun point until the sales end. No point in BIS releasing DayZ SA when DayZ MOD was selling so gooddddddd (... You guys really think people buy Arma II now a days because they think the storyline of Arma II is going to be the best? No its for DayZ MOD.) Arma II was like 8th on the steam selling like a few days ago. Thats freakin' nuts.
  21. Who the hell wouldn't rage agains't WarZ? Its a joker ass game, if you feel that games got enough enjoyable content then wow... damn. As Rista is saying, the Arma II engine your client talks to the server, tells the server things. Makes it easy for script kiddies. In the standalone, the client will ASK the server things, rather then tell. As with any game, there is going to be hackers and brat kids that play to make others QQ because they QQ about real life... ;D Stating facts is however, VERY far from raging. Its called being factual... :|
  22. I ain't mad at ya' bro. But lets review the positives. WarZ is a shit engine, which makes hacking a bit easier. Piss poor, speed programing. I'm not sure if WarZ even has any type of protection (In terms of Battleye, or whatever the hell they will be using with steam) The power of private community and whitelist is a very good thing on DayZs behalf, although it does take away from me that I can't jump from server to server. Rocket stated that he will be putting more power into the hands of ACTIVE ADMINS on servers. This can be dangerous - but very good if you find a nice home, that doesn't have a 15 year old as a admin spying for his buddies. Also with the attacks that have been put onto WarZs servers - it is because the way the company conducts itself (in regards to them getting shut down several days due to attacks) and I don't think DayZ will see this type of attack as long as Rocket doesn't keep breaking his word to give us news... I've been playing a DayZ + whitelist thats rather busy lately, (30+ players is the normal day, 50 at night) and man... its enjoyable.
  23. Even though I know its not true, about FPV being forced.... If I get headaches from the SA being forced first person, I will track down each and everyone of you that supports FPV, and attempt to murder you. :D
  24. I like how you are able to tell me Arma II doesn't case headaches... I myself get them, when playing with the FPV for more then 10 minutes period, with head bob off - almost seems to be related to motion sickness, which I get IRL know ever since I've returned from Afghanistan. Other players have posted within this forum, that have lower'd head bob entirely, like myself, and reported headaches. There are registered topics on the BIS Forums that talk about the headaches in relation to this game, and a few others (Half-Life) also which seems to produce this. This is sadly also a sign of possible seizures that could in sue also... from what I've been told and not have actually researched. Several games you play come with pretitle warning screens stating that if any dizziness, headaches or other motion sickness start to take place, they advise to not play their product any more. So it is a real topic. ;)
  25. For the last time - even with it turned all the way off, head-bob that is, I still get a headache as others have supported. I shouldn't have to "tweak" my fov - wouldn't that give me a advantage over someone not ... tweaking? :D
