  1. Yea I'm not used to the hush hush of this - its killing me. Would like to see some type of trailer, zombie, weapon, anything honestly - hell, lie to me, show me DayZ MOD and tell me its the standalone at least rocket!!!!!!
  2. Reasoning behind why this would be a good addition to the standalone (skip if you're not a long term reader, jump in at overview.) Ok well - I was crawling over the web looking for more and more information about this secretive DayZ Standalone I keep hearing of - anyways... was watching some Dean Rocket videos with questions and answers.. a hour long thing - I know, I have no life. Anyways... on to the topic. Mr. Rocket said he wasn't sure he wanted to add a group spawn, because this takes away from the disorientation of the game - man I couldn't agree more. He also mentioned that possibility of having underground bases, and that which could be a spawn point of players, NOW THIS, I agree with. I would be highly annoyed if I was in a shoot out with several players and they simply had some buddies "spawn in" on them. If their base is over 4 clicks, not a big problem. I know he said he also didn't want any NPC's or NPC interaction within DayZ, BUT I ain't talking about adding them for the purpose of interaction - its only to established a means to respawn at your base. Now that I've explained the basis of this suggestion - I'll stop wasting your time and explain the suggestion. OVER VIEW Once you've established and base (under or above), and joined a faction (since he said there would be factions within DayZ that are in game supported form what I've seen from the videos) you will have a area (that you constructed) at which you can store/place survivors you've encountered. The term survivors within this post means a NPC at which you've come across in the game, that you can take to your camp, so when you see it later in posts you'll know. The spawns for finding survivors could be put into the same par as finding a ghillie suit or something of that nature in terms of "rare" or rare like findings - they can be found in residential areas, they will be just stationary and crying/quivering, as to alert you to them slightly. Once found you will be able to interact with them - here is the interesting part, they will be able to use the majority of the scripts from the dogs (if we ever see them) for the survivors. Survivor trust must be gained, AND they will flee from bandits / not trust these guys regardless of the conditions (giving incentives not to be a brat in game.). Once you've gained a survivors trust you will be able to ask them to follow you - you'll want to get them back to your camp. Once they are at the camp you'll be able to give them a command to rest (these survivors will be non-combatants.) LETS RUN THROUGH IT So now lets run through it. We found a survivor - gained his/her trust, got them to follow us back to our base... great... why? Well - when a member of your faction gets a 107 .50 CAL round to the face, and takes 37,000 damage... he will have the option to spawn at the base, or on the shore line. He WILL NOT have the option to spawn at the base if no survivors have been found and stored at camp. Sleeping bags must be found also along with the survivors. You won't be able to spawn at your base if there is a active fight for a period of time (just like the combat logger, just a expanded area it will cover) What else is needed? Sleeping bags! AND Spawn restrictions!!! Sleeping bags! The construction item that should be needed could be something as simple as finding a "sleeping bag" - once you found a sleeping bag placing it at your base, and linking it to your faction will let you use it as a spawn. Survivors within a bag show it as full, empty open ones are not. Spawn restrictions!!! While the base is being raided, meaning any shots that are fired within or around the base - the players of that faction will be unable to spawn at that location for a period of 30 minutes. This suggestion will do several things for the dynamics of the game. 1) Keep players disorientated as Rocket wants - you'll spawn with the same regular load out - not your old gear, and your buddies might be 10 clicks away from you, but you'll still be "at home". 2) Give players incentives to be good. 3) Give bandits the opportunity to follow players that are good back to their base if they are not careful with the survivors. 4) Give bandits the opportunity to set up ambushes on survivors (adding a danger dynamic). 5) Give players a reason to team up and work together - or the END GAME to establish and safer and better strong hold. It should be hard or a item/tent/underground construction requirement should be met before the spawns are allowed. pseudo code example (I am by NO MEANS a programmer so enjoy and laugh it up) If faction created (joined group) Player in faction if spawn option open spawn option at base survivor check spawn if survivor check not = null spawn [worldspace of faction spawn construction] spawned survivor removed - 1 if no faction created (no joined group) if survivor option = null (no survivors) shore line spawn survivors could come preloaded with the dog scripts - trust must be gained, follow, wait, and go away (survivor will return to start point or disappear depending on range). I'm sure I'll keep adding more to the post - I'm drunk and decided to wing it... Constructive criticizers are welcome. I hope this thread is liked enough to stay at the top and perhaps get Rockets attention... I'll go over searching for typos in the morning and remove drunk rambles...
  3. Yea that shouldn't be hard for them to do the mechanics of that one since the combat logger is also in place. I didn't think about people using the spawns to get back into action if a raid is active. Its not like they will have 20 survivors - I'm talking these things should be worse to find the mountain dews... but I agree with that entirely. The logger for shots fired in a base should be something along the lines of 30 minutes or so I think also.

    Looking for Ghillie Suits.

Lemme hear what you guys are after - looking to find a few ghillies guys. Not sure what the general value is compared to other items - so lemme know what you guys want for them and I'll see what I have...

    MrGoldenrods Gun Shop!

Looking for 2 ghillies, DMR or SVD + ammo. I got items in stock, lemme know what would be reasonable.
  6. You guys are talking as if I'm suggesting the first set of NPCs to ever be placed into DayZ - there is going to be dogs. I'm not interested in NPC interaction honestly - this post is about a spawn system and how it should work if you have a well established group and base. More of a end-game suggestion. I think I'll have to reformat my post to get the point better along - I'll do that over the next few days... BTW that game - some parts seem interesting - surprising what the arcade is capable of putting out now-a-days.
  7. I'm not saying go on a bot spree, be able to give them guns, and have personal body guards or quests. My suggestion as to these are very limited, rare bots will simply add a whole nother' loot hunt to the game. I couldn't agree with you more (in regards to player interaction being the soul of this game). You will be able to tell the "bots" (survivors) right away since they won't be activity roaming around - instead they will be a random rare loot spawn, simply cowering away in their house, so to speak that you can interact with the only true goal of adding a additional spawn location in your base. To be honest - having everyone as a beach-lander is not very great for the situational balance in my opinion. My boys will come pick me up if I die in that Huey, or truck - and we gonna gun down anyone that even looks our direction (If they don't look, they don't threat - so we leave them alone...) - regardless of location or play (bambi, bandit, hero - don't look now :D ) as to where these random chance interactions of end-game players wouldn't have even typically ended up on the beach in the first place if there was a spawn system - I know some guys head back to the beach for parts and so forth late game, and some would for the bots also, but having the ability to use a rare survivor find (they should make it so a group of 30 working together, even with restartin' their server ever 10 minutes they STILL have trouble finding a sleeping bag and or survivor). I can understand where you are coming from - I really can. Most of the PM's I've gotten in regards to not wanting bots seem to be the one man, two man teams... The only real difference in this scenario, is that end-game large groups without this option will just drive/fly to pick up their fallen comrade, which honestly maybe they ain't even operating out of a close location so they might have to still take a trip back to base to pick him up... if he spawns there.
  8. There will be no flaming here sir. You don't really rise from the dead and just spawn at your base - you will be a fresh spawn, just as if you spawn'd on the beach - the only difference is the location at which you spawn and the survivor deduction within your base from your faction. Keep in mind that camps might be a whole lot harder to find if they are indeed underground also.

    =HA= Heavily Armed

Just a quick side note about hackers... public servers with 35+ players - chances are you'll get teleported within a hour or two of play time and they will try to mass-murder everyone... :X They don't seem to like lower populated servers - they want to just ruin everyones day. Makes for a nice change of pace if ya' get away - sometimes the teleport helps ya' get closer to a new location anyways. Hackers are ALL OVER. Saw your all's clan real late... would have tried to join. Old school Arma ACE/ACRE guy here - been playing DayZ for 3 months or so.
  10. Yea I think it stays in the terms of rather logical - if players want base spawns they've got to work for them. Any suggestions feel free to chip in if I think they are good ones I'll add them to the OP.

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

Hell - No. Having peripheral vision (which is what 3rd person view supplies) is a must in this game. I don't want to be limited to first person view. There are Pros and Cons... Pros are people won't be able to peak corners without really looking, see over small walls or roof-top ledges. The only real advantage is PVP and making some zomb spotting..., Wooo. Cons tunnel vision that I wouldn't have IRL because I have a thing called peripheral vision... First Person only would kill it - rocket already explained why 3rd person should be allowed...

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

Screw you guys. I worked hard to get my current gear, I don't play with a tent or vehicle for storage on public hives because I don't settle down in one server, to often my craps gone from past experiences when I return a few days later - and the one tent that kept going crazy I ran over every time I came across it, having unlimited gear makes the game boring... All thats on my back was taken from looting, besides a few bandits that ended up having a long day after pop'in shots my way (current character is only 3 days old and I don't want to spend another 3 days again because YOU GUYS admit to using and abusing bugs.). I found my SAW in a loot spot, and found my M4 SD in a loot spot. Why should I have to give it up because others have been abusing bugs - need I remind FOR A ALPHA PHASED PRODUCT. Leaving this amount of CRAP on the servers for statistical review in my opinion could even help to stress test long term settings for the standalone, given that people still use tents and don't just dig in the ground... Wipe the tents, wipe the vehicles - fine.. whats the big issue with letting players keep the current gear they have? If they die someone else down the line will take it, if duping still is not possible, or perhaps they will have it already and just hide your useless bodies. ;) At this point of the game, just because you've vehicle whored and established yourself and want that fresh "Damn I need matches" feeling - doesn't mean a none abusive player such as myself should suffer a reset. I will state again - before you set up your 120 and 81 mortar flame cannons in my direction - I SUPPORT A TENT/VEHICLE WIPE. I'll be the black sheep. Zero F's Given. :D

    Build 1.7.4.4 Rolling Update

No they put in a script block so you can't put on a ghillie or camo suit you find... lmfao.
  14. Hey guys - rather new to hosting and I have a server that me and my friends use. We are becoming rather well established on cher - but are thinking of trying other maps. If I do a map change will this wipe all the old data from the first map if we later switch back? I'm using DayZ.ST if that helps. I tried to search but had no luck. Only found information about if you are coming from public to a different private hive map... which I already know the answer to that. Thanks in advance.
  15. I just wanted to pop in and say I also was a survivalservers.com only and THEY ARE TRASH! Very very slow customer support, server runs ok, but lame server over all. Nothing spawn'd right in mine. I think its great to see this type of feedback on the forum - forcing companies to try harder will not only make them better, but give us a better product for the same if not lower cost. DayZ.ST is not bad.

    Increase view distance.

I just love how everyone above is like "Yea I lost from FPS" or "Man its in options." ... you guys ever watch the before and after of your adjustment? Lmao. Locked - sucks. I been looking for how to increase it also, not just slide a bar that says I can now see 4000 meters... ain't working for me. I'd like to see it increased, but like mZLY is saying, pros and cons. Be able to see people a lot better sometimes with a better draw/render distance, game would look better for the computers out there that can handle it. Would give snipers another sharp edge to use - but the longer out the longer the round takes to impact, and the more you need a static target.
  17. Right I get that it will be a new map so no data will be on it. So if I switch back to a old map that I had before, and attempt to do a restore from one of the backups I wont be able to bring the server status back? Or will it simply remove my server backups if I switch maps?

    Day Z Patches

Yes, I ran 7.3 for a few days, but wanted to jump on a private hive server with a buddy, so I took the risk and down-graded back to 7.2.6, and it worked fine. Didn't have to restart or anything, simply select it from the DayZ Commander and reinstall. I later went back to 7.3 when he wasn't around... no issues man.
  20. "Assisted by [Fluxley56( or 58...)]" 2) Describe your experience! Walking along being a nice guy like always, and I hear a far off shot. Didn't think it was for me, it was. I was bleeding pretty bad, whoever engaged me must have been a click out almost, took cover - and waited for this new combat system to cool off (thank god guy was far off and perhaps not interested in spending any more rounds on me) logged off, logged back on and was bleeding out.. unconscious, logged back off and called 911 (You guys). Was patched up in now time, hard a reliable, knowledgeable group of players to play the next 3 or so hours with, was nice not worrying about being shot in the back. 10 - gave aid, gave ammo, rolled around as a none-bandit pack.

My DayZ Adventure for the day.

"* [NEW] New Combat System If you fire a weapon, someone fires a weapon near you, or a bullet/object impacts near you, then you go into combat. During combat, "ABORT" is disabled. If you ALT-F4/close anyway, your character is considered "combat logged" and instantly killed and leaves a body." Good luck adjusting bro.

how to trick carebears into a death trap

I love what the internet is turning into. This is great. With the aid of google the OP'er can google big works, find pictures, and display to the world he is the most creative person alive. I had no idea I could attract people using these manners... they are by far the deepest techniques I have encountered in all my days. I was wondering why... I kept putting freakin' drank sodas, and empty food cans out there... they wouldn't go for it, but these new players... at which I was trying to entirely turn off to the game by conducting a senseless killing of the spawn area... oh they are in for a treat. Trolls saying friendly to lure people into a ambush... thats why no one can even use voice chat. If your Alpha, grab your balls and tell them to come to the damn church for a shoot-out. Oh wait... that'd be risky on your part, that care-bear might have a axe or a pistol...

    US 3221

Hey guys I ain't been playing DayZ forever - but today I was banned from this server (the automated ban) it started for something odd like a script. My blood/water/tempature would not move (still currently isnt decreasing) on my screen. Atleast in game I believe it is because I was tap'd by a zombie and passed out - with 12000 blood, and full food water icons - whoever I was running for over 15 minutes nothing reduced in shade from green to red in regards to food. If this was the reason I was kicked - 1) I like the server and would like to keep playing on it and 2) how do I go about fixing this issue?

    US 3221

Just throwing this out there for my own benefit - nothing against the server, but the "admin" contacted me VIA PM asking for my GUID to give me access to the server... is this typical to remove a ban? Isn't the GUID something that I need to protect and not ... give away?

    Zombies are too Powerful

Watch Frankie run around on youtube. Its retarded - he has such a easy time evading them even with hes agro'd a crap ton bro. Take advantage of them walking slow in doors if a long flee is less attractive... don't be linear in your escape if you've got that super marathon zombie on your heels.. Eat meat... The End?
