I dont know anything about the ins or outs of f o v switching, but it sounds as though you may have gotten the math for the ratio of screen height to screen width wrong. I'd check that first. AC

Namalsk for higher stress p v p, more guns and less food, all in a map about 1/10 area of chernarus. Chernarus for more of a zombie survivor map; I find it more relaxing than Namalsk. I like them both. AC

The scope's way overpowered. Uncooled thermal scopes don't work that way. Make the image really grainy (way, way worse than binocs), reduce the magnification to 2.7x, and really pixelate it. Likely the detector in that thing is at best 640x480 pixels (that's about half in each direction of minimum gaming screen resolution). Then make it useless for about half an hour after sunrise, and half an hour before sunset (look up thermal-crossover). Then, make it use, and eat batteries. At about 300m+, you shouldn't be able to tell a goat from a human, let alone what kind of gun a dude is carrying at that range. Or, in its present form, remove it. Behind the same pine. Tending his partner- I fire until both are dead; Suddenly I fall, The landscape is grey. I am unable to move, I stare at the sky. A short time passes. Quickly, I cover my wounds. How did that happen? Cooked meat chokes down, The world regains its colour. Time to leave this place. The sound of an axe, I see the red clawed hand- I died with honour.

I shouldn't need to wait until someone else actually hits me before I return fire, in order to maintain positive karma (survivor / hero) status. The game engine knows I've been fired on, I should be able to retaliate at that point, with no negative impact. Pun intended. AC

Acix, I disagree. Arma CO is probably around $20 to $30, US. I'd spend that in a pub or bar on a Friday night without thinking about it. If the OP can afford it, I'd say that there's certainly time to accumulate $30 of terror and adrenaline between now and standalone. There isn't a single other game (mod) that I can say that about, and I've been gaming on PC (and precursors, back to Sinclair ZX80) for 30 years. Just my opinion, AC

Treecancer- Based on the posts I have seen on this topic, Dayz commander might be an easier option. I started with Dayz Commander right after the initial OA install. After selecting some pretty obvious options, I was playing Dayz about 30 minutes later (slow download for the Dayz mod, and custom maps). Just make sure that you check that the install directory for your Arma2 / OA / Dayz are set appropriately in the Settings, 3rd tab in from the top right, just below the cupcake :) Hope this helps, AC.

Sometimes if there are two loot piles close together one takes precedence over the other, regardless of the observer's direction or angle of approach. This is particularly true if there's a backpack in the pile. To solve the issue, just pick up all the trash and drop it "over a bit". Once that's done, you ought to be able to retrieve the item(s) that you expect to find. Hope this helps, ac

Might depend on what time of day it is too; I think the release notes indicate that at night a building just reduces the rate at which you get cold by fifty percent. Hope this helps. Ac
