Newbie guide - fast way to learn to play DayZ
AIRCAV replied to frosti's topic in New Player Discussion
Bullshit. All admins cheat just as much as all players cheat. You're making a sweeping, unfounded statement. Come over to Balotabuddies.net we've got a great crew of people, and several flavors of whitelist servers. Our admins rock. AC -
I found mine in a 5 month old thread ;) AC

Duncan, that behavior is normal. I've always had to make fireplace, step back, look at fireplace bring up context menu, light, step back look at fire, bring up context menu, cook. AC

Which firewall, and which antivirus? Include the name and the version. Its possible that disabling the AV or the firewall isn't entirely stopping them. Killing the process is not likely to be a good approach, as both should have protections against that built in by design. If they didn't, a malware author would find it very easy to circumvent the protection by simply killing the appropriate process. Often times with firewalls you need to use a gaming mode, or open the ports used by the game. I'd suggest reading the user manual for both packages, particularly any sections about gaming. Then google the ports needed by Dayz to work. Unfortunately, I don't know what they are. Hopefully this post might point you in the right direction. AC

Is the raw meat in your external inventory? You can't cook meat that's in your backpack. Also, if the fireplace is under a tree, it's possible that the volume of the tree's "hit-box" is enclosing the fireplace's "hit-box" that you're trying to interact with. If you're trying to light a fire that has already been lit, and either extinguished, or gone out, it will only light for a second or so, then go out, but it is possible to cook meat on it if you're fast enough. You haven't mentioned your equipment, if you have matches, and an axe, have you tried making another fireplace somewhere else? If not, you could always try to cook the meat in one of the oil drums which can be lit (there are some in Berezino, at the tents, and also at Starry, at the tents). Morning FHB :) AC

1.7.5 - Cows will now run for their lives
AIRCAV replied to Play (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bloodbags should be removed completely. They're as fragile as ice cream. There's no electricity in dayz. AC -
Haha thats ok, i got over it

Hacking isn't the solution, and spawning items is hacking. You should start playing on a private, whitelisted hive. AC -
Looking for a friendly Private Hive server
AIRCAV replied to Holograph's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
balotabuddies.net 3 whitelisted servers (so far); Australia, UK, and US, and our own Teamspeak server. AC -
Note that the dots on the DMR are a little funky, unzoomed spans a wide range of distance, zoomed-in is the middle segment of that wide range, not the extreme end. Sensible if you assume that zoomed-in is designed to cover the most frequently-used engagement distances, confusing if you expect something else. The wiki page lists the conversion from range to dots. I'd also consider downloading murcielago's shooting range ver 2, and practicing with it in single-player*, so that if you do need to use the DMR in anger for pvp, you aren't inadvertently using the wrong dot- which would be short lived, and probably annoying. *I think you actually have to run it in multiplayer LAN, from Arma 2. Hope this helps, AC

Balota Buddies whitelisted US server is still running on version 1.7.4.4. Hey Steak, warm up fraps, we're gonna have some stupid fun with these... AC

M136 and 3 rounds? Thank you barracks!
AIRCAV replied to AIRCAV's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh well, at least it made me giddy as a schoolgirl when I found them. I'll take them to a tent and install over the mantle. Assuming it'll fit of course... Thanks for the information about the bugginess. AC -
Do you guys have multiple bindings to your L key? I have never had a problem turning a flashlight or a g17 on/off. AC

Humans in good health regenerate blood; but not at the edge of starvation, and especially not dehydration. AC

Nothin' like Christmas spirit. His coyote backpack > your self respect. Happy new year. AC

You're smokin' a bunch of crack looking for hope, salvation, or meaning in the mod. There's no story, no point, and you're going to die a pointless death. If you're lucky, someone will have killed you for the gear you carry. Welcome to the bleak wasteland that is dayz. The best game I've played in 30 years. AC

Don't try to kill zombies with the lee enfield, it's crazy loud. You should search the forums for tips for new players there are hundreds of posts with the tips you need. AC

If you need to use more than one mag against another player, you're both doing very silly things. 3 mags for primary, 2 food, 2 liquid, 1 blood bag, 2 morphine, 2 painkiller. 4 sidearm mags, 4 bandages. That's all you need- and it all fits in your 12 primary inventory slots. AC

Try balotabuddies.com The clan's so good, I happily play there at 300ms ping from West coast US. AC

The hard part here though is that you and your clan-mates all actively chose to participate. You all knew the server was clearly hacked, but instead of immediately quitting out, your choice was to hunker down and to start to shoot the incoming looters. The tables were then turned when the hackers- who presumably had also "hunkered down"- then began to play *their* game. At which point your clan all (presumably) combat-log. You then come to the forum to complain that you lost all your high-end loot. If you play with fire, expect burnt fingers. But there's a lesson here too; if it seems too easy, it probably is. Stop, pause and think- "am I the mouse, the cheese, or the cat?" next time, and perhaps you'll be able to walk away. Hope this helps, AC

Found a Chopper Crash Site...No loot?
AIRCAV replied to CaptainIcy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are now three kinds of crashed heli, that I've seen (not counting the fourth, which are those that steak and potatoes flies). 1 and 2 are; Mi17 or Lynx, crashed, burnt out hull, no smoke or flames present. No zombies spawn. These are new low level loot locations. The third is a crashed lynx, smoking (visible during day) and on fire (very visible at night). 10+ zombies will spawn if you walk within about 200m. This can be avoided if you drive a vehicle right up to it. This is the helo crash with high end loot; likely to be picked clean already, also likely to have hostile bandit sniper close by. Hope this helps. AC
