    I had the same problem when I first got my copy. bought mine from gog.com - thought they sold me a bogus key lol. turned out for some reason when I first installed the game my cd key wasn't saved to my registry. I uninstalled ArmA and DayZ, then defrag'd my registry. reinstalled ArmA and DayZ and the problem was solved...until the "bad serial blah blah blah" message popped up. all it was, was the MAIN files for ArmA in both locations in my registry had \\ at the end of the filepath when it should have been just 1 \. just delete the extra \, save it and you're good to go.

    hmm. well I logged in today, looked left, my leg broke then I was dead. had to run almost 8,000m back to my body...but other than zombies walking/hitting me through walls it's still pretty awesome. just have to remember it's a mod in alpha stage and still buggier than a house in the south with the windows open.

    DMR/M14 AIM (handy they take the same ammo :) ) G17 most survival tools - no NVGs, GPS or rangefinders yet though

    so I logged in today, looked to my left, my leg broke I got the pass out screen for about 1 second then DEAD. now I understand at any time we can lose our gear...but losing everything just for logging in is ridiculous. I spent hours farming my gear and had some nice trades lined up. you might not care, but I'm PISSED EDIT: well I got lucky and was able to make it back to my body and grab my gear back. and my camp was still intact so in the end all I lost was time...but still...

    someone offered me NVGs and a ghillie for the FAL + 3 mags. still waiting to hear back from him on that, but if he changes his mind I would trade FAL w/3 mags + M9SD for NVGs and Rangefinder :)

    so I was just running in the woods on my way to Stary when I came to an open field where I spotted a downed heli. as I approached, I noticed a 2nd downed heli in the same field! I found 2 M14s with a few rounds, a silenced PP-19 or whatever it is, a FAL, a FAL with night vision scope AND an M107 and some DMR rounds between the 2 helis . I traded out my AKM for the FAL-PSV4 (night vision scope) and grabbed the M107 and DMR rounds. I ended up ditching the M107 when I got to NWAF because I found a DMR. sadly, I found no NVG's between the 2 helis and NWAF. curious if anyone has come across 2 downed helis in the same field though?

    I know the M14 is really good, but in the end, the night vision scope won out for me. if I had an alice pack instead of just a czech pack I might have tried to figure out a way to come out with 3 rifles but I'm happy how it turned out. if I manage to come across some NVGs I might ditch the FAL since I have a DMR now.
