Sniper Rifles don't need a nerf. This is why..

I'm not sure permanently reducing visibility is the most viable solution to sniping, but I do agree that nerfing and/or removing sniper rifles isn't the way to go either. In the pinned standalone thread (as well as another thread "make snipers work for the kill" present the best options for limiting the power snipers currently possess. Outlined in these threads are suggestions of making sniping more difficult in the way of introducing more random scope movement, heavy breathing, and increased bullet drop so that it will take skill, practice and some small degree of luck to successfully hit targets from extreme distances, as apposed to point and click kills. I think that introducing constant fog in your idea may be a bit extreme, as well as figuring out wind drift and the coriolis effect may become convoluted, but I think that a lesser implementation of the latter may be a better way of dealing with this issue. But perhaps fog could be introduced at higher altitudes on the map as well as during seasonal changes, to throw a further bit of unpredictability into the mix? I think that a combination of these features may be a great addition to the SA. Sorry if this was written too formally.. I tend to get my fancy pants of when writing :/

Tidbits, nicknacks and other fun items.

Great idea, love it! Things like dog tags at mil bases, journals in houses, medical reports of infected patients in hospitals could add depth to the story of Chernarus for those who appreciate it. Maybe there could even be items that will initiate a kind of treasure hunt, like a file found in a mil base which would mark the location of a secret loot spawn on a players map after reading it, or even just a rough sketch for players to work out the meaning of on their own?

K, my bad. Didn't mean to get all apache on it. Will search more thoroughly in future. Humble pie taken.

Dogs picking up and tracking survivor/bandit scent?

What if tracking dogs couldn't do much damage to the player, but once reaching them could bite their leg/tear at clothes reducing movement speed, letting the owner get a shot? Also once you are being attacked by a dog, aiming will have the pain effect making it harder to shoot the dog off of you? As a flip side, maybe once the dogs become close to the player they're tracking the dog will begin barking, letting you know you're close but also warning the person being tracked that they're almost caught? That way once you hear dogs barking, you'll get that sense of fear that you're about to get screwed, kind of like when you hear zombie growls out of nowhere.

    Guns and Mags

I like your ideas, particularly about static unique gun spawns. Would be nice to see ammo clips being able to be combined with others to save inv. space, like combing a clip of 5 and a clip of 2 to make one clip of 7 etc.

    Log Out Conditions

Good idea Alex, I like it. Maybe the server will keep you logged in for a little while after the server doesn't get a response for a set amount of time? Servers would have to be more stable to prevent people dying because of unexpected crashes etc though. People might find ways of getting around it but at least it can be made harder to do. And I didn't mean to repost, I did search and not find anything. I wasn't going to assume it had been talked about without finding anything to say it had been. But if this is entirely unoriginal I'm happy for admins to lock it. ;)

    Make the nights brighter!!!

I agree that it can be far too dark on servers sometimes. I always turn up brightness and gamma if I don't have NVGs. I understand that night time adds atmosphere, but honestly.. I don't think on your average night you "can't see further than your hands", or whatever. I'm not saying that it should be as easy to see during night as it is at day, but I think it should be "difficult", not impossible, to see at night. And who uses a flashlight? You might as well just shoot yourself in the face! ;)

    Log Out Conditions

I've been playing DayZ for about a month now, and while I've have had a great time playing and experienced more tension from a game than any other, I've found that the realism is often spoilt by people deciding to log out just as they are about to die. While this is a great way to keep your stuff, it isn't really the point of the game to survive in such a way. So I thought a way to prevent this kind of behaviour would be to introduce a few conditions for logging out. These might in include that you may not log out when.. - Being actively pursued by a zombie - For 60 seconds after being involved in combat (i.e. taking/receiving damage from a player/zombie, firing your weapon or being fired upon) - In certain areas to prevent loot camping/server hopping. I would love to hear some constructive feedback about this, I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets irritated by going in for a kill only to have the other player magically vanish into thin air. Also, apologies if this idea has already been presented, I did search for it but couldn't find anything. Happy gaming, and good luck out there!
