I think if you get shot anywhere with a 9mm, you should drop your main gun and clutch the point of impact. Then have to run/limp (if leg shot) for your life....running gets slower the more blood you loose until you pass out. And lets face it....if its true realism you want then 1 shot to chest should imobalise you into a sitting position (maybe let you keep your pistol in hand for defence but very shaky held in 1 hand while other clutches the wound) . 2 shots to the chest and you pass out. 3 shots and its over. As far as snipers/assault rifles go any hit to anywhere but the leg should kill, maybe let chest shots pass you out with death within 2mins, with a leg shot you should not be able to run and have to sit up pushing with 1 leg as the other drags on he floor (again main wep dropped instantly and pistol in 1 hand while other clutches wound, and very shaky aiming) But I think if it was made that realistic people would moan soooo much. There has to be a balance between entertaining gameplay and realism.

Im a big fan of creating custom scenarios in the arma 2 editor. and would love to be able to do the same in dayz SA. Just a simple set of tools would do. as now, the ability to place structures fortifications and so on. Then as far as zombies go we would just need something like "zombie spawn point" marker, could be tweaked for number and rate of zeds. As normal they would wonder...unless we added a "zombie attack location" marker, this could make the zeds instantly rush towards that pos on spawn. With just these 2 tools we could create epic survival type scenarios, or just 1 place on the map with an incredible number of zombies. Rocket's success with dayz is mostly due to the fact that BIS mad an extremely versatile game that could be highly edited. Without arma 2 there would be no dayz This mentality should be passed on in dayz SA. Sorry if this has already been done....searched "editor" and alls I found was about map editing (making new maps completly) :)

maybe it could effect what you spawn with. like someone with a military background would spawn with m9 pistol and camo cloathing....civillian background could spawn with more food and drink supplies...and a medical background spawns with (you guessed it) medical supplies :). There could be a number of backgrounds for each type and maybe more types, that's jus what I could come up with after reading thread. ohh and a mechanic/engeniring background spawns with a few random parts and a tool box, hunter could be another. Rly like this idea the possabilities are endless :)

Yeah I know, I mentioned fooling players at the end. Tried to focus on zeds in my reply as most of the OP was about zeds ;) -
I would love to see this map in dayz.....but (theres always a but lol) There is a reason BIS Gifted the arma 2 engine to Rocket. IMO They want there new game to be what it was intended to be.....not have massive sales due mainly to a mod. And by keeping them seprate they will have 2 titles to market rather that people just choosing 1 or the other because they get all the maps in either one.

I don't have many issues with the current stealth system. I play it like the old metal gear solid games on ps1...where all the guards had FOV shown by a cone in front of them, Jus imagine the cones and try to stay out of them. Crouch walk/run keeps me fairly fee of zed trains. If I do accidently wonder into a zed FOV thiats usualy when I hit the deck and try to back up around the corner I jus turned. Would defo like to see zeds investigating dead bodies, and distractions with meat and so on would be great. You could achieve the candle in a house thing by throwing a flare in there, but a candle would be more elegant and probs not as easy for players to spot. I would like to see an "imitate zombie" button....then a zed could see you and not react, unless you got too close then you would be identified as an imposter lol. That could also fool players from a distance, if you were hopping round like one of the zeds :) -
No more will the tractor be the laughing stock of all dayz vehicles!

the crossbow is rly cool thing.....whats your server...I wanna play there!, but I think it maybe makes it a lil too easy if you can get them incapped from 200m away. Id rather see a "disarm" button that had a hand to hand disarm with a chance to fail....this wap people with no gun would have a way to disarm a highly geared player if they managed to sneek up behind them. Could also present another option when your running around a city and you turn a corner only to be touching noses with another survivor. In this situation one guy may attempt to shoot instantly, but if his gun didn't have enough damage to knock you down you would have a chance to hit disarm and take his gun clen off him :D Obviously this would be short range like say 1-2 m away, could be real challenge for bandits tired of just shoot on sight play. -
Have to agree with enforcer and other posters, what you are describing is wasteland. Wasteland isn't even a mod, its just a mission file. You should defo try it out...still has food and drink, also has money to spend at stores all over the map. And.....no zombies, jus what your looking for. For me though Day z needs zombies. I play both arma2 and dayz and love them both for different reasons. but imagine if you didn't see anyone for a while in dayz, some days iv played all evening and only seen 1 person. During these times the zeds keep me entertained.....and sometimes catch me out :) especialy with all the new stuff to make em harder, knockdown, infection, increased damage per hit and so on.

That's pretty arrogant imo.....It was just suggestion to improve realism in a game where realism is the goal. Yep, your both right, maybe just a simple skin change to a pile of parts instead would do the trick. @ Taco, The end of your post is basically what im getting at.....jus make it a few more parts. it wouldn't all have to be done in 1 day....just as now in dayz sometimes it can take me a couple of days of play, maybe more, to scavenge everything I need for say a heli. Glass for them can be a particular pain in the ass lol. -

I didn't mean pull the engine....I meant pull the main rot if it was left as a 1 piece ;). This could also act as a buffer so a pro team couldn't join a server and have a heli within 30mins....they would first need a car to carry the main rot to the heli..And the car would take them a while to fix with the engine being harder to make. Unless ofcourse if they felt like dragging a main rot all the way frm an industrial to the heli lol -

agreed....something else that needs broken down^^. though my knolege of helicopter main rotors isn't as good as with cars so wouldn't know how to split that. maybe leave that as a 1 piece but u need a car to transport it. Maybe drag it to the car and then load it, akin to the way the BTC logistics script lets you drag and load ammo crates in arma 2 vanilla. -
make the effect diminish twice as fast in rain. (if I remember that's what screwed them over in walking dead lol

Hi My idea is that each server host would actually host 3 servers. One Chenarus, 1 Celle, and 1 Taviana (or a different selection jus 2 more maps). the if I say drove right to the end of the dead end road to the north west I would be swapped to the Taviana server. Or if I drove to the end of the coast road in the south west I would be swapped to the Celle server, with all the lobby and server selection hidden by a load screen (or even with a lobby so you could take a break) This could even become a feature.... each month or so feature a new community map. Maybe even let players vote for which one they want. I do realise this would be a mammoth task with how to move vehicles with map swaps, and how to make it auto join the server. It could also result in people camping the transition spots, but its not too different from looting NWA. Think that's about it :)

someone mentioned an old bank....I like that...like you could take a key for a safe deposit box in the bank. It would have to be 1 key per person or 1 player could just take all the keys. Could be a good way of making highly geared players re-enter a city aswell. If the say killed someone at NWA and found there safe deposit box key they may want to go back into the city to see whats there. -

I love this idea, but i do agree a spikestrip sould be hard to make. maybe having the hammer as a seprate tool could be good....forcing players to decide which tools they need to take with them for the mission they are going on. we shouldnt have enough toolbelt slots to carry every single tool we could ever need....smoe should have to be stashed away and brought out when needed. -
Oh yeah....also thought this could be a way to introduce limited edition wepons that you can only get from the addon maps....then when that map swaps to a new one you carnt get that gun anymore unless that map comes up again. These weapons would slowly be lost as people died from zombies and would become more and more rare. Also could do limited edition outfits. Like the way namalask has the snowy ghillie....that could maybe offer more concealment against the light grey buildings during city play.But would be rare if namalask wasnt the current addon map.

Been thinking about this a bit and yeah they wouldnt be able to polish another map before the releace of standalone. Buut this could be a post relece update...maybe 6-12 months after the game is releaced to extend its life. Id say that after a month of playing a map you have visited most of the best places and it starts to get old....roaming round the same places looking for the same things. i would not say i was just starting to make progress after a mont ;) As for topography....id want something diffrent not something jus like chernarus. the length of the imaginary travel to a new map could be as long as you want.

Hi guys, my idea is simple.....an Auto-walk key to save holding w for what can sometimes be a very.....very long time. I like to travel primarily on foot with a sniper rifle on dayz....I find that cars can attract too much attention and fueling helis can become tedious. Also auto walk is found on a lot of RPG games so would fit with the transformation frm military simulator to zombie RPG.

Could do something like a bit of tape on the boot of the player skin.....when u look down u see B+ or whatever on the tape

lol, loving the tool and the knife ideas....maybe a key would be a lil more elegant tho ;) , and ok holding w aint hard....but try holding it for like 30-40 mins over an 8k run :P

Still enjoying DayZ on uk300, not a single hacker since i joined and this server is becoming a much more intersting enviroment as the player count is stedily rising. So come join a diverse and friendly community, and enjoy DayZ as it was ment to be played.....vanilla.... and hacker free :D -

Ok, a hacker joined our sever maybe an hour ago {zfg} Public Server. We have a good community and he was exposed quickly so we all logged to lobby. I did not whitness the hacks but i have a screenshot of him boasting in lobby about how his hacks wont be in the database because he sends data to the server telling it hes walked not teleported. If u need to see the shot i have it on my steam profile, just add Karmaterror, and its my most recent screenshot. We are all now offline thanks to this douch, we are to afraid to log back in incase he jus kills us all. Any help would be much apriciated, tnx. Server Was: [ZfG] DayZ 1.7.2.6 Public Server (Debian/Wine/Local-DB) Name of player was: Sausage Time: 16:30 UK time And i have jus seen the attatch file so have attached the screenshot. -

Thanks for the replys guy, seems i have a pretty solid case to take to the admins as he re-aranged a city while he was on! Will defo see that he gets banned, i will never understand the mentality of hackers. Tnx again :D
