    Lol epic pic...This is exactly what I meant in my other post, giving a stat difference between men and women doesn't work. It implies we are all the same, with no regard to the individual.
  2. I don't see anything wrong with people stashing vehicles on the map edges and stuff. Dosent take that long to search em even on foot and its better to find a nice fixed car with some loot than spend hours trying to repair a fresh spawn. More cars would just mean that those clans would have the best of the best vehicles. but at least there would be some crap cars for everyone else. Rare fuel means that the big clans will stockpile fuel inside there cars (and/or any fuel containers). Now they are just painting a target on there backs for people to join and find there camp. To me fuel is just too abundant, restricting it could make the big clans play a more defensive game. Instead of going out looking for someone to ambush they may wanna protect there epic fuel stockpile. Because all it would take is 1 guy to find there camp....put all the jerrys in one car....blow the rest to hell and drive off ;)

    Character Customization

    Id like the proper interface where you edit it, not just a list of pre sets. Id make mine look something like Tom Hanks from castaway. Big beard,overgrown hair....just need them to add a cloths item like "old sack" and I can run round Cherno screaming Wiiilsooon!

    There are undeniable physical differences between men and women, that being said it very much down to the individual. A women's athlete could physically out perform 99% of us average men. Making there be a difference isn't realistic because it doesn't take into account the individual. And after all this is DayZ...Your story ;)

  6. Kinda like the idea of "bodged" repairs...in the apocalypse I probably wouldn't spend all day looking for the right part, just something that would work. I work with cars, and do a bit of motorsport. Some of the bodges we have done were great. Once cut an exhaust pipe too short and the back box was about an inch behind the bumper. so the next morning we used about 10 empty beer cans with both ends cut off and 2 exhaust clamps to make an extender. Ran all day with no probs :D Maybe a new use for empty tin cans^^ ;)

    Correct me if im wrong but its not the DayZ SA engine....its the arma 2 engine with a lot of extras. Whats wrong with comparing it to A3? Loads of features of SA are in A3. Wouldn't surprise me if BIS gave some of there new stuff to rocket to help with the games development.

    Im holding up dead nation as serious competition. Its an early stage of the mod for A3....works almost the same way, and has many of the features that SA is promoting in the devblogs. By the time SA is releaced, dead nation may be so polished up that it will be able to compete. That's very fair, but I would say that a lot of the basics were already in place. Its not as if hes coding a whole new engine, and that takes a huge chunk of development time ;)

    This is why I like discussions...it slipped my mind that the arma2 sales have already brought big revenue to BIS. A lot of that is down to dayz. Maybe they feel they owe it to rocket to see it come to life as a SA. But as you say its a labour of love....and things like that never really get "finished". Im still swapping things out on arma 2 editor missions that I started the day I bought the game.

    you can always try asking round in global chat.....its a dangerous business, with bandits eavesdropping, and possaility of a backstab. But most of the people I play with now I met ingame, either trough global or random encounters where we both sorta aimed.....then had that moment of "I think hes friendly".....*types hi*. One guy I play with I sniped at NWA....then felt bad so gave him a ride to get some gear from my camp.....been friends playing together ever since :D

    This isn't an "Iwant an alpha now!" post, more a discussion of the new threats to the SA. As salamanderAnder said the SA will obviously be better than any mod....but....if the team doing the A3 version really has till 2020 (I know that's a guess) to polish it up and make it good. Then I just carnt see people paying good money for an updated game that's years old. Especialy when theres an alternative out there that would in essence give you 2 games for the price of 1. I have waited patiently and haven't mentioned an alpha before now. The reason I decided to talk about it now was these new things that could damage SA. I feel the window to make it a success is closing fast.....and I really really want it to be sccessfull :D

    But its dayz on A3 lol, used all the dayz files (dayzcode.pbo, dayzweapons.pbo). It is dayz, just on altis map with new features from A3. Not having a go or anything....jus sayin isn't that a bit like sayin dayz is dumb lol :P

    I don't want them to rush it but man its been literally years since BI took rocket on to make it. And now I feel its under threat from A3 immitations. Just getting it out there as buggy alpha could generate some more hype and publicity. And if ya don't wanna play the alpha ya don't have to. You can always wait for the full releace ;)

    Oh il admit there is a degree of frustration for me as a player. But those issues will effect us players if it leads to the death of SA. The thing with A3 is that when the alpha came out its like they went into a higher gear, sorting out issues that hadn't even been conceived. An early alpha would bring these things to light faster, and in turn, sort them out faster :)

    Not asking for warz at all.....an alpha is a test version not a complete game. You would get the game for a little cheaper by participating in the alpha (1 bonus) and no one finds glitches and bugs better than players. Arma 3 development moved on leaps and bounds when the alpha came out and I think SA could benefit form the same. People saying the game sucks when playing the alpha I don't think would be taken seriously by anyone who knows what the purpose of an alpha is ;)

    that wrong key message is because you have other non dayz mods installed..... 1. launch arma2 OA 2. got to expansions tab 3. disable all mods (including dayz) 4. launch dayz commander 5. make sure latest version of dayz and beta patch are installd from install/update tab 6 . make sure your search filters are set correctly....eg. not hiding some servers and so on now you should be good to go :) That acceptable key thing is because all good community mods have whats called a bisighn.pbo....if the server dosent have the same file in its mod list it will bump you to the main menu with the message ;)
  18. I can see this working well just as described in OP. The cars could be empty of fuel because, if zeds are after you, you aint stopping to turn off the engine and lock the car :D. Also different types of fuel would be awesome. Maybe for aviation fuel you could keep a kind of crashsite....the site dosent spawn loot but you can syphon a small amount of aviation fuel from each one.

    A Few Suggestions For Standalone

    YES MORE MAPS!! So many ways they could be introduced. You could travel off the roads to maps that aren't islands, then out to sea to access maps that are. For the ocen scenario id have a few buoys out in the sea say 4 if you have 4 extra maps. You would have to sail/fly to the buoy, then scroll on an addaction menu (like the ones used to repair vehicles) and there would be an action to "follow buoys to Taviana" or w/e island it is. Loadscreen hides the server swap, and the hive saves ya gear. Vehicles could be more problematic to move between maps, but maybe with a script you could delete the veh your leaving in from the Chernarus map, then spawn a fresh one in the new server as you join.

    Exactly...new players will have no idea that you could be playing dead, and in some cases where, if say you were running, a bandit may take a few slow steps to shoot you and keep running with his train. But if he sees a body and has a train the effort of loosing the train and getting to the corpse could be too much....and he just runs on by. Sure it would be nice to keep all loot but, id take playing dead and keeping my toolbelt items than dying outright. Maybe a new drug could be introduced...like an epi pen but opposite effect. Makes you really look dead. We could have to harvest it from...oh I don't know a tree....or a specific plant....maybe an animal like a toad.

    sea bases in SA

    Couldn't agree more about all this thinking that people in Chernarus are all poor. I mean seriously, think about it. Theres office blocks in Chernarus right.....those offices must have a manager.....and in turn a CEO. You don't really think that the boss of a company is gonna show up to work in a old yellow hatchback do ya. Not to mention its all farmland.....farms aint cheap...not by a long shot. I think the problem is what id call "residual propaganda" left over from the bad blood between the US and Russia. Anyways back on topic. More boats would be great. I already like to store my best gear in a fishing boat then drive about 2-3000m out to sea to log....no ones ever found my boat so far hehe. Theres small boats with MG guns on in arma, maybe add one of those, wouldn't be much different to having the huey. There are a few good civilian boats out there on the community sites for arma eg. armaholic. Including Yachts, Sailboats and even a Sea Cat.... Hell theres even working submarines (not that im saying they should go in ;)).

    It sounds like your getting spotted a bit too easy, always try to be stealthy. If you pull zombies around then everyone will follow them to you. And if you see a player with zombies after them play it cool. Chances are they too occupied with the zeds to see you if you sneak in closer. And I always have a pause behind a wall or something to catch breath before kill so the sights are good. Also as mentioned the editor is a great tool for learning anything arma. You tube has hundreds of tutorials.

    Temperature for sure, its not needed anywhere near as much as it should be. I remember when I went on Celle and had to stop most times it rained and build a fire.

    Sounds great, could have similar stuff with hand to hand, grab and hit style. Maybe make everyone a righty, so both survivors could grab, then have a blow for blow untill one gives up and tries to break it. And id love to see 2 survivors slowly circling with knifes, trying to gab eachother :D
  25. I like the idea of "cells", iv wanted this for a long time. A while back I di an idea about including some community maps by leaving the roads off the main map.....but being able to then leave that map for another....just awesome. Could the map changes be done simply by a script that atomaticly logs you out, then into the new server, all hidden by a loadscreen. On a private hive I could see multiple maps joined together working well, but would it be difficult with public hives? just thinking that it not only has to save your gear but also the map your on, also any keys for safes would be useless in another public server group. And all for safes, only issue that always pops into my head is...what if someone kills me while I have my safe key but dosent take it. Maybe if the key is not on anybodys person and isn't in the game world somewhere, EG on a survivor body or inside a car, then the safe could be emptied and the key returned. Its a lil how tent cleanup works atm.
