  1. Combat logging and stuff can wait IMO while they address more basic issues. Spawn killing is a none issue to me, thats down to where you log out. Log out in a stupid place and you are likely to be killed on log in. Pick a nice safe spot in some trees good chance you will live.

    Just wanna sneek my own little question into this thread... If you open a can with the driver/axe....anything except a tin opener...do you loose some of the food from the can? I have opened a few with a screwdriver and they are never full after :(

  4. Ugh again...really. ATM you arent experiencing dayz....your testing a stripped out, cut down version of it. If you want to play the game, and experiance it, you should wait till it comes out, not buy into alpha and moan about things that have been identified as issues years ago, and have planned fixes. As iv said many times before there isnt really a need to fix gameplay elements yet, not untill all the games basics are worked out. Whats the point of curing server hopping now.....when we will all be loosing our toons to database wipes, and patches. As i understand it there is still a lot of work to be done on the servers. They need to perform properly and be able to handle more players. If the servers arent up to scratch everything else should wait untill they are. Then when we have great stable servers start adding content....then finaly balance the game out addressing combat logging/server hopping, balancing loot tables and damage values. rant over :P

    I do agree with this. I always played vanilla z, never bought into servers with extra military baracks everywhere. But thats sort of what we got with the SA, waaaaay too much military. I was acctualy for less military spawns in SA lol
  6. Well dunno about that, I used to play private hives where 10 players was enough to have a good few engagements each night in various locations. Dont forget everyone is still finding there feet in SA so when everyone is used to surviving you will see a lot more population up north. Edit - BTW im never on the coast lol. Its something that stuck from so many hours playing the mod. Get off the coast quick as and stay up north....acts as a buffer to keep you safe from players that just find a gun and shoot people till they die.
  7. Well theres a few hot topics that have the community devided atm. Things like 3rd person vs 1st and day/night cycle speeds. Iv seen quite a few people say it could be server options, have 1st only, 3rd only and some with fast day night some with 24hr cycle. But this makes me wonder, with having so many diffrent servers could it splinter the playerbase just as we saw in the mod. If you think of dayz commander the options (ignoring heavy mod servers) are like - Dayz Dayz Namalask Epoch Orogins ect... If the devs have many servers with diffrent options it could end up the same way except instead of the above your choices are - Normal Normal with fast day/night 1st only, normal day/night 1st only, fast day/night 3rd only, normal day/night 3rd only, fast day/night And that only takes the view and day/night into it. Theres other things people have suggested to be server options that would add to the amount of server types. I think the devs need to find a good balance and keep all servers universal. That way we shouldnt break up players in a similar way that the mod did.

    Splintering Players Trough Server Options

    Oh yeah its a complete hypothetical, just wanted to raise the question and see what people think. Would a universal server setting be better, keeping us all playing the same game. Or would having different settings break up the players over different variations, making some (most likely the very realistic hardcore modes) a bit devoid of players.
  9. For me 40 on chernarus is just about right, can even feel a bit "busy" sometimes when you see survivors every few mins. My perfect population on a server is about 25-30, enough threat, but maintaining the isolated, apocotyptic feeling. I tried 75+ player servers on the mod, but it just felt like battlefield all over again, except you had to find a gun lol

    Are there Explosives yet?

    Im pretty sure theres no explosives in yet. Either was hacker or maybe we can still make buildings go down with throwables. Like how poeple used to demolish churches with smoke grenades :)

    I dont think that means you will be able to take gear from a private hive to a pub. Just that the hive will be managed by the Dayz team, keeping it regulated properly.

    Have patience, adding things like wepons is pretty easy to do. Fault finding server and coding issues takes much longer, and thats what needs fixing first. As a complete guess id say itl be a few months till you see a lot of new content added.....but i may be wrong :)

    Hahahah we use this tactic, but as an insurance policy. 1 of us (usually me lol) runs on the road with normal looking gear and an axe.....while my friends follow me about 200m into the trees with rifles. That way when we meet someone i can be confident to just wave and see if they are friendly. If they are at least 1 of the tree dwellers will show themselfs.....this will spring a trap if thats what it is....but always 1 is concealed for cover. Dirty bandits using it as bait....tut tut :P

    Splintering Players Trough Server Options

    I suppose what i mean is that, the players all broke up on the mod....ran off to diffrent variations. If most players opted for fast day night, it would leave the 24hr cycle servers a bit empty, Kinda like vanilla z servers emptied when things like epoch came out. I Just dont want it to end up like the mod where you carnt find a populated 24cycle because everyone is on the fast day/night servers

    Private hives are the way forward to help with a lot of dayz issues. They already have a system planned that give you a small instanced hive as part of the whole. That should keep private hives in check and vanilla.

    Kill on Sight - Complaining

    Personally i dont play to kill people. I play for the survival aspects more. Interacting with layers can have a lot more reward that killing. Teaming up makes you more effective at....well....everything lol, All my dayz friends are people i met ingame (mostly in the mod) and we now play together a lot. I remember the first guy i trusted with my camp location....was so nervous for the first night, but when i logged back on i found like an extra tent up with loot and a new vehicle :) Theres also a bit of satisfaction to helping a newbie gear up then cut them loose on the world. The other side of the coin is when (in mod) iv helped a fresh spwan gear up, flown em all over to get military loot, then they shot me for the heli grrrr. Irony is that most of them crashed on takeoff lol. Theres up sides to both playstyles, but i just feel bad when i shoot someone for no reason. Also some really cool stuff can happen when your trying to be friendly, and managing to turn the tables on a backstabber is really rewarding :)
  17. Theres no problem for if you have to log quickly....theres hundreds of enterable houses with beds that you could just run to....wait the few seconds while you fall asleep then log out. I really like this idea, adds immersion and completly stops combat logging. Also helps against server hoppers if it takes say 15 secs to go asleep....then should take 15 to wake up and get outa the bed. So if you did it in the baracks then as you wake theres 15 seconds for the player thats there to react. Maybe even make em yawn when they wake as an audiable que to the player that someone logged on really close and will be combat ready within the next 15 seconds. This idea would acctually make me want to play public servers more, iv always gone for private hives because of ghosting server hopping. This is the first time youl see me say id like to play on pub servers and its this idea that makes me want to! have some beans!

    Christmas Patch Idea

    Ok so christmas eve maybe a little late for this one, but maybe next year.... Let us cut down and drag some new type of tree, that only spawns on the map december time. We could decorate them with empty tin cans and any other loot you can think of...rags, canned food, whatever. People could leave em in towns as presents or bait for other survivors. Or put it at your camp for decoration :) Also maybe one reindeer wandering around per restart, and if you kill it theres a santa hat on the corpse. There could only be a few santa hats around, then ya wouldnt wanna die if ya know that could be the last one you will see till next december :) Add any other fun christmas type ideas you can think of..

    Another way to find loot?

    This was suggested in the mod section a while back, personaly i like the idea of finding bodies to loot. But apparently rocket wants everything to be a direct result of players interacting, and random dead bodies detracts from that :(

    Rare TANK in the game

    First off....no tanks plz lol Second Dayz wouldnt exist without an engine as openly moddable as the arma 2 engine was. That was what allowed for all the scripting involved in dayz. So modding as a whole is a good thing. I do however think that mods should be kept out of the SA as it isn't what arma was. Arma was for building missions and enjoying them with friends. This is a diffrent animal, it gives us tools to create our own missions within the "sandbox". BUT PLAESE! Stop with the private hive bashing. The concept of a private hive is brilliant and solves a lot of fundimental problems with dayz. What you are acctually on about is "mod servers" most of which were private.....but there is a big diffrence. A vanilla private hive, IMO a much better way to experience dayz than pub servers. The devs know this, hence why plans have already been made to accomodate private hive servers.

    ts not just when you swap servers though. The first server I chose did it every time you logged back in, after I abandoned that server and found my current I have no issues ;)

    Account reset randomly twice in under 2 hours?

    Try and find a server that saves properly and stick wit that one. Many servers have reset me to coast. Im playing on "-=FOX=- FOX COMPANY GAMING" always saves my toon.

    Some servers out there will bump you back to coast every time you join, its a bit of a minefield atm. If you find a server that works id stick with it. Im playing on "-=FOX=- FOX COMPANY GAMING" and its always saved my toon :)

    Does any one else feel burnt out already?

    There is only a fraction of the games total content in atm. I think when vehicles, bases and respawning zeds/ loot with full loot tables of hundreds of diffrent items comes in, It will get a lot more interesting for ya. As someone else said atm patience is key. If your already feeling burnt out id say maybe dont play for a while, maybe a monththen come back and see all the new stuff. Then next mont the same and so on. Im trying very hard not to do this to myself lol. Iv capped myself at you can fully search one town each session, then log. Also trying not to play every night, maybe two or 3 times a week. Too much of a good thing me thinks :)
  25. That hack report section wouldnt have been for SA reports. Im sure once the anti-cheat holes have been plugged up, and the systems turned on. They will open up a new place to report hackers. Not much point having one yet as so many features to combat it arent implemented.
