I know they all blow up in Arma 2, in the mod im not sure though. I once emptied 2 m24 mags into the Zelen one and nothing happened. But when i shot the Berezino one with AS50....big bada boom :)

My advice....download DayZ Commander. Its great, what it does is let you check that everything you need to play is in place, then gives you a server browser with loooooads of options. 1. Download and install DayZ Commander 2. Go to installl/update tab 3. first make sure the beta is up to date 4. then make sure dayz is up to date (or install a veriation like epoch or overwatch) 5. set up server filters and pick one 6. enjoy :) Also be sure to start arma 2 and OA on there own before trying to run dayz....that sets up some required player files and stuff. 6 launcher is another alternative to commander. Commander is just the one i prefer :)

What error/message do you get when joining? Did you connect trough Dayz commander or Arma 2?

Yeah i shoulda started with why im against short day nights lol. For me, with the way the engine works, the light is always changing. There is no set "day" lighting or set "night" lighting. The sun and moon pass over the map and thats where our light comes from. The problem with a faster day/night is that the shadows and stuff would move very quick. The way night decends would look all gamey and unnatural, AKA Fallout or Skyrim. And because the light is dynamicly changing then the stages would pop up too quickly with rushed obvious transitions. Your solution does work to have them play during day and night. For me its an imersion breaker though ;)

Dont like the idea of skills trees myself, but it does make sense in a way. So ok you learned to fly a heli....great, but when you die how is that knowledge magiclly transferred to this new toon? We already loose all ur gear and stuff, but thats not too valuable. The phrase "Knowledge is power" comes to mind. If we did have to gain the skills required to do that thing again, after death, i could see value of life going up tenfold.

Locking every server presents problems. Some peoples window to play would only allow them to play at night....or day. Thats a bit unfair imo. As i understand it server admins wont have access to the server files...so messing with servers like putting on 24 day cycle wont be possible. If it does work like that and they carnt mod them, they would be puuuuurfect :) Personaly i like to find one where i can start my play session in the late afternoon, and play till its been dark for a while. Then i get both :)

The only advantages to the public hive are for people that want to swap server to ghost or loot. nd il give ya the "i loose my stuff if my server dissapers" thing. But pretty much every major problem could be cured by private hives. Admin abuse can happen just as easily on public hive servers. And huh?? a private hive would force you to play at night. You wouldnt be able to just swap servers for a day one. When night falls thats it....its night...no running from it :P

Max sense player here...well a tiny tiny bit away from max. That to me is "dumming down" the features introduced for a realistic feel. Removing free look and just letting us look round quick with a gun completly removes a layer of immersion. Its much quicker to just turn your head to look at something than face it. This is echoed in the game now....take it away...its just another generic shooter (which seems to be what some people want lol) This game shouldnt feel fluid imo, its something people are just too used to. Most engines could learn a thing or two from arma. Its not bad if it adds to the immersion. And like iv said if you move the mouse "properly" it will accuratly depict what your hand just did. Your accuracy will not be effected except in situations where you attemt to turn too fast. Seriously....something that adds a level of skill to shooting...prevents unnatural twitch shooting and rewards keeping your cool. Yet people moan and want it to be like the rest of the fps they play. This is not an fps game...its a mil/survival sim, keep it as a sim!

Well rocket was a modder, and then got taken on by BI after the success of the mod. But most comanies will spend up to 5 years developing a game, usually behind closed doors. This is bieng developed with player input. That helps the devs focus on what the players want, not wasting time on a feature that in the end, people dont like. I prefer this approach to just hiding away and then launching a game without any feedback from those who are going to play it :) -
Yes buy them lol, and not just for dayz mod. The editor will give you hours and hours of fun. Also you can share the missions you make with your friends in seconds, without them having to download a thing. As far as getting it for dayz mod. Id say yes, the SA wont have as many features as the mod for quite some time. So you could use the mod to get used to the map, and gameplay of the engine. Plus if its a year till beta, then thats a years worth of fun form Dayz mod :)

The universal one size fits all solution....for everything....private hives ;) Controlled by a "shard" of the main database they will be un-modable, and you plain wont be able to run away from things like... Combat Night time Areas that have already been looted Basicaly give us private hives! then all of it goes away :)

Nothing to give you an advantage.......seriously?? So the whole not dying to the guy who had you bang to rights isnt an advantage? Being able to leave a server, reposition on the opposite side of a valley then return to combat isnt an advantage? -
There will be other factors besides gear to think about for the victim. If getting the health status is a lot harder #, hen loosing some gear to a robber might be preferable to loosing that status. Then theres the....they wont be able to take all your gear so you might escape with some stuff. Also when stamina comes in, you may want to survive the encounter regardless of gear, just for the map progresion. Item degridation will help....but only when we have super rare items. So say you see a guy with a very....very rare gun. You might not want to Kos....you may want one of only 6 of those guns across the public hive. Shooting wont be an option, as you wont want to ruin it and have it go back into the loot tables. Same with any super rare loot. Kos will always be there, but item degridation has huge potential to encourage robbery over kos. But it wont be item degridation alone....it will be that combined with zombie threat and loot spawns. Think if they added 20 or 30 junk items to the loot tables now. Suddenly your chances of a weapon or ammo go right down.

If so could you not have posted there....or at least linked the other one? lol Im confused reading this....but im confused most of the time :) EDIT - I found it, was the angry rant one. You know i think the title got it locked, the mods here are quite good and will let you discuss pretty much anything, as long as you present it in a good manor(even if its something bad). Try be a bit more diplomatic and im sure it wont get locked again. Oh and avoid slanderous comments like "Dean the lying salesman".

Did you get the info from Dxdiag? If not try this to find your series number... 1, Hit start 2, In the search bar type "dxdiag" (without quotes) and hit enter 3, On the DxDiag screen, hit the display tab 4, On there somewhere (i think in top left) should be your info

Its a bit early to say its broken...its not even finished lol. I think another motivation is, if gear degrades, then you will have to go out and find more over time. So instead of saying "wohoo i got everything....il never venture out of the trees again" its more "oh crap i need a new hoodie/pants/gun" That way the endgame is a constant struggle. Not like in the mod :)

Iv heard people complaining about the first one but never seen it myself, in hundreds of hours over A2,mod and SA. Thats completely logical......free look is you turning your neck to look at something. Much easier than turning your whole body. Last one has never bothered me, but carnt you just play with x/y sensitivity to compensate?

While i carnt say for sure, i have explored most of the new roads (and train line :)) to the north. It looks very unfinished, with concret floor areas clearly ready for building placement. I am egar to see how the north evolves, a new city would be nice with a few extra small towns. Also on the heavily forested hills at the extreme north, i would love to see some secluded manor houses and stuff nestled in the trees :)

I think its good that the survival aspect is coming to the forefront more. I remember way back when Rocket said he wanted to make a survival simulator. But that they added the zombies to make it more "mainstream". So it makes sense that those features should take priority. Personally i wouldnt mind if we could only find pistols in Dayz lol, i would prefer not to have all these military weapons and make it focus more on plain survival.
