It would make life a lot harder for them if it was to be a persistent storage container with an inv of its own. But because items already persist on there own there would be no need for it to be a persistent container. Itcould be just a more immersive way of having loot spawn. I saw a while ago the idea to grab items (ala fallout/skyrim) and move them around. Now if we had something like that, and say moved a bloodbag to a fridge. there could be a trigger that adds conditions to items within the fridge. Like keeping bloodbags cold, meat fresh for longer ect Bottom line for me is they abandoned this in favour of making every item persistent....so now all we need is a model with interactive door and conditions for items that are within that model :) -
I see your point, but the op's 20 hops in a night dosent qualify as light hopping IMO lol Wow that's a big distance compared to how quick it gets traversed. Trust me though its <10mins that run....wouldn't that be about right to negate your hop timer ? I don't follow roads so much, I aim for vybor (the west side where that mound covered in trees is) then head west with a touch of south and pick up the dirt road that leads there. TBH I do know that area well, was one of my mod campsites around there....devs messed that one up with tent city tho lol

They wont be removed....needed to guage server performance I think. Always try and fight them outside if you can. When they run at you stand your ground....dodge as the do that leaping attack then swing for the head. If I hear a zombie I just leave the building and wait for him outside, then go back in to loot once hes deltwith. Safest way atm The range of there hits seems a little high atm so maybe when your aginst the inside wall its still managing to be inside the zombie hit radius. -
Its never 5km from NWA to that new tent city place.......is it?? Iv always found that a nice little run, the dirt road for it ends to the west or vybor right? Well I can see vybor from nwa and the road aint aint that long haha Get them legs goin man :)

Maybe they could just use tent tech and make some new models(though im sure iv seen pics of some models) And then randomly spawn loot inside them. Id kind of like it the way cars spawn loot now, so you open the fridge door, then there are loot items on the shelfs inside.... or open a draw and folded cloths item inside...or open the wardrobe door and its vertical as if its hanging up.......talk about immersive :) -

My motivation is really from the point of view of the person sniping not the victim. See my post above this for how I came up with the idea. Not saying snipers are the boggie man, I don't mind being sniped and snipers should always be in dayz. I just want some challenge in taking my shots. Everyone has there nests....and knows ranges to key structure (fireststions, hospitals, schools) or up at NWA I know, from my nest, which hanger I have to throw the zeroing up and just use centre scope. The thing with milldots (thnking DMR from the mod here) was that it was a little harder to track a moving target with a milldot than full horizontal line. No resting that line on his head and waiting for him to run into the shot...there were often times you could lead, fire and realise it was slightly high or slightly low. That's much less likely happen when your zeroing is where it should be and you use that horizontal line :) -

I like the idea of an animation. Maybe he lowwers the gun ant turns something on the scope, then it goes back to scope, total bout 2-3 seconds....get the adjustment wrong....anothe2-3 seconds to swap it again. Glad I aint the only one who thinks zeroing makes it too easy. I suppose your right, some people would want the snipers to be inaccurate so they don't get shot as much. My real inspiration is Arma 2. I made a firing range at NWA (with like helis and planes) was to train my mates up for online Dayz, wasteland ect. But while firing at the pop up targets we came up with some rules. Zeroing was just making any little competitions a farse....always going to sudden death...one lasted like 30 mins before someone missed. So we changed the rules, not allowed to zero, had to knock it down to 100 and use the scope. The competitions suddenly became interesting. Like I would miss my 3rd out of 5, the opponent missed his 4th and evens it up. Was just so much more entertaining :) -
It was raining at tent city and i didnt wanna get wet lol, also didn't wanna take a mismatched cloths (im a sucker for sets). there were looooads ofttsko, but the gorka was confusing the pants and jacket match but ones called "green" others called "flat".....why not just call them both green lol

stop looking for the tent...trust me...the game knows you want one lol Start looking for a scope or something then ul find it :P I didn't know there was one at NWA, where abouts is that one, I saw the one in tent city in western woods earlier. you could run there from NWA to increase chances per hop by 50%. If you don't mind hopping that's cool, but I think it takes away from the achievement of finding something..I cant server hop...found me a nice private hive today :)

Not 100% sure but I think they did do a change to the night lighting a while ago. As far as im aware people can still tweak gamma. There are some advantages to having a darker night than others, spotting muzzle flash for one. But yeah if you want a level playing field at night id wait a bit longer for the new renderer :) -
Well im feeling this thread right about now... This is an older one but I felt the same when I had him... I like getting to a stage like this, if basebuilding were in id be starting work on a campsite about now, but the server I play has no persistence yet. Now the challenge for me is how long can I last.....and not letting zeds get a lucky hit and ruin something. Anyone else still struggling with the sexy looks...lets see pics :)

Ahh I see, im not very knowledgeable on guns....why ya never see me in the weapon threads. My experience withguns (being from the UK) is .22 air rifles, paintball guns and one go of a big hefty farmers shotgun. Seen as its realistic aswell lets have it....no more easy mode....rangefinder and remembering what the mill dots mean would be much better:) -

Would just be cool for a laugh, and if its December only (using global loot economy) it could become a thing for people to try and keep there santa suit/hat as long as poss through the year :D

Just wait till they bring out ATV's.....god them bridges best be on the fix list. Havent had the chance to drive a v3s yet, was this road an old mod one or newly added one?

Agreed the mod had that ability aswell.... Need an AS50 mag......none anywhere...die and loose rifle....1st crash site...mags...no rifle lol

Iv only killed a few in the SA but the first was defo the best. Very early alpha, im heading to NWA when I see a guy run into stary market. I went to the door and waved at him, he waved back so I went in. There were a couple zeds on us so I took care of them with my trust axe, then asked if he needed anything. He said he was hungry so I gave him couple opened tins of stuff. I said goodbye over direct and left the store, completely buzzed with adrenaline from the meet and happy it ended well. Casually jogging towards the treeline, then all of a sudden the guy comes barrelling past me full sprint axe swinging away. I stopped thinking naaahhhh I just helped him hes not trying this. *Whack* blood starts pouring off me...."right! that's it you little sh1t!" I started strafing round as I pulled out my own axe and we begun the dance of death. A good 10 swings each and down he went. I wasn't sure if he was dead as his body "slid" through a low wall and I thought he was crawling. Vaulted the wall and smacked the body 2 or 3 times to be sure. Lesson is just because some of us are friendly....dosent mean we wont kick your ass if you try something :P

Ifyou toon does get wiped (not whiped ;) ) upon joining another server like that touch nothing, log out and back in again. The server hasn't connected to the database properly so puts you on the beach. If you keep playing eventually the database will update with that information and your guy is gone. That's why log out strait away while you have the chance and find another server that has got a connection(you will know when you get your old toon back) -

Blind log outs spoil immersion, the guy may have been tailing you to make contact....you logged out and he got pissed off that he didn't get some interaction after all that effort so decided some gear would do. A live system where you cannot do anything bar interrupting it would be much better IMO. That way he could of seen you sit to log....that sounds so wrong lol...and then either shot at you or winged you to break the logout. Not only would that guy have got a much better experience that shooting a bot, you would have had the chance to react. Im tired of getting close to people then have them log out....leaving me with a glorified punching bag. I know many disagree and see the blind logout as a better option. But anything that can leave an uncontrolled avatar in the game for any amount of time not only goes against the old plan of no NPC's (that's essentially what your av is as you log) but also is a step back from the mods system of no log out near players and shots near cancelling the timer. The blind log out should be a backup in my opinion if people try and alt f4. For proper log outs let my prey stay and react somehow to me being there :) -
I admit dayz has some great PvP moments. And I like the constant threat that im under form login till logout....no breather between rounds or anything like that. However I don't class it as an FPS, in fact it dosent fit into any defined class of game I can think of. But the goal of a PvP game is to kill stuff, in this game that isn't the goal unless you decide it is. There are no scoreboards, no K/D ratios or other such likes. Is dayz the best Survival/MMO/FPS/Fishing/hunting/Zombie/Walking/Gathering/Basebuilding/....you get the idea. In the end its gonna have so much that it can be whatever anyone wants it to be:)

WB philly Well... Vehicles!...guess that's why ya back lol, keep in mind the aren't persistent and only 3 per server. Persistence has arrived with 2 tent styles, it causes an issue with loot spawning apparently, gets wiped every Wednesday, but you can keep your gear if you pack it up before maintenance. Canabalism....you can now eat people but beware....you will get a brain illness that causes you to laugh or cry every now and then. Less chance of getting it ifyou cook the meat. Theres a rangefinder.....so that's nice A few new guns and locations (I wont spoil locations for ya) but we got a cz something rifle, ak's, AUG. Tonnes of new items. Can now grow stuff but I haven't tried that yet, fishing and hunting is in....maybe that was in before ya left though. Oh and if you find a lockpick you can now lock doors and gates. If you find a locked door youcan bash at it with melee or shoot it to open it. That's about all off the top of my head, theres a lot more, il let everyone else fill in the blanks :) -
Send in a mole...or a few Few players to run around until he gets jumped by them. If they type in direct then clan tags would be seen, or just the way they do things. Then that guy can relay location, description, numbers ect... Its not 100% but I think its about the only way to identify players atm...get them talking. With run speeds what they are the response time to that location would be pretty low...maybe before they finished playing with the victim. Then all swap in that server wearing orange raincoats and charrrrrrge! Life....finds a way :D Only new players cry hacks when they die...when ya used to dayz first thought is "damn it!....I knew I should spent more time scouting" lol
