    From this post I don't think you understand the reason for the timer though.....sorry but its not just to punish them....its to preserve combat. Sure this sytem punishes them but it punishes me aswell....why? I want them to remain in game and REACT when im stood 2 feet infront of them....that's immersion. You are completely right they don't want to fight, but as it is now they still don't. They just gamble. Now if they could be kept in game they would have to fight....and that's the point....forcing the situation on them that they are trying to avoid :)

    While I agree with a live timer, the teleport thing could be bad for the hunter aswell. Especialy on private hives when they finally come. When someone logs I like to mark that pos, then when they rejoin I know where they are, or at least there AO. That gives me a big advantage, one id loose if they got randomly teleported somewhere else :)
  4. I have to disagree with that. Your camp is separate from your toon. But both have perma death, is actually more annoying to loose a weeks worth of basebuilding in seconds than to be KOS'd lol :)

    nothing like that atm, but that would be fine. At least with that I could stop a logger from disconnecting. Atm we can disconnect from our avatar at any time. Just he stays in game for 30 secs for the free yolo kill ;)

    45 seconds was a small price to pay, for more immersion and the ability to keep a logger in game. How is this sytem the best it can be when it allows for such an unimmersive moment as slaughtering an npc....that's failing at its task...completely lol. Not to mention rockets aversion to NPC's and him saying everything in the game should be a result of player interaction. Then he adds a system that kills interaction outright. 30 seconds is nowhere near enough to get to them if you engaging at a sensible range. Need to be able to keep putting a round close to them as you move in to keep them in game ;)

    in-game Sports

    Saw someone post a pic of the footy field and I thought "at least give a physics enabled ball that we can push around". More sports would be great, as long as its just simple stuff, not sinking time into making a golf course when we need respawning zombies and such :)

    This is an excellent idea....WE NEED THIS! Hiding a boat was always hard on the mod, sometimes id camp by the water, put my best stuff in the boat, then log at sea out of view range of the coast. That kept my gear really really safe because no one ever checked out there, even if they had a heli. But what I wouldn't have don't to pull that pbx outa the water and tow it back to a better more concealed campsite.....have some beans :) EDIT - little after thought...as far as light boats like the PBX go, maybe an option to drag it by hand aswell. Could drasticly effect your hydration and hunger levels so that its not exploitable. But you could use it just to drag it into some trees just off the shoreline to hide it :)

    really?? we had tents wire fences and tank traps in the mod....could knock up a pretty convincing looking camp with those tools....oh and sandbags ;) But I gotta say no to safe zones, they would actually be death zones lol. You could run in and then that's it...you aint getting out past the 20 bandits in the hills just waiting for you to cross the "holy ground" border line :)

    For me this combat log system is flawed because it doesn't preserve combat. The player is still disconnected from there avatar strait away and all chance of interaction dies. For me your way still has that problem....they can still just DC and get out of the situation, all be it with a penalty of spawning on a random hill. But its still just a punishment....in my eyes we need a system where the player can be kept connected to there avatar, with the chance of having a log out attempt denied. That way we are preserving combat and making them face the situation they are trying to escape :)
  12. If the camp dies when the player dies there is no point to building the camp whatsoever. The whole point is that you can go to a relitivley safe place to regear because you put in the effort in the previous life. Think about it this way...your survivor has perma death. But when you create a camp you are creating another entity. That entity can survive independent of your toon, but it also has perma death if someone trashes it. They are even exposed to KOS, for example someone could level your tents just for the fun....not even to take your gear. Also this is a persistant world. If we start deleting camps when players die then its not persistant at all....should we also delete cars you've fixed (when they come ofc) because hey you could just run back and regear? :P

    I agree with that, no way if this happened for real would people act like this. You would be in such a constant state of fear, banding together would be the only way to feel safe. Im sure it would bring out a lot of the us vs them attitude and make us more likely to work together. Its only when two groups with different values meet that skirmishes would ensue. But as it is people don't play it like that, they play to get a gun and shoot people, as is the main focus of pretty much any game with guns in it. So concealment is a friendly players greatest ally at the moment. Id love to run up to everyone and just say hi, but I know I wouldn't last long if I did :)
  14. From my experience in the mod this game needs all the play styles I think... hero, bandit, base builders, medics everything. My group had a couple that really like pvp, me and another guy prefer to base build and take any pvp as it comes. A lot of the time we were split up, but having both styles in the group had big rewards. Say if we got shot on a materials run, we could call in our pvp duo to try and get revenge and save our gear. Or if one of there pvp fest NWA missions went sour, they new they had the base we were maintaining to fall back on. I think in the end there will be roles to play beyond bandit or hero :)
  15. For me storage is a great thing. On the mod building up a camp can take time and effort, but all that can be undone in seconds by a hostile group. No matter how well you hide it, someone will find it eventually. Some groups get a vehicle and make a hobby of camp hunting. As long as they can be raided and destroyed by other players im all for them :)

    Well to report back on this one, I haven't missed my pack once lol. Now maybe that's just the state of the game atm, if basebuilding was in id need extra space for a tent or whatever they add. But as far as plain survival goes its just as easy without one. Heres what im carrying atm without a pack...

    Iv found myself living in the west recently, NWA, Zelen and that base south of it keep me sorted for loot. Its surprising how many times a lot of those places haven't been looted, even when the server is busy :)

    All I can say is that how can you know the formula will fail....when you don't have even half the variables. Loot seems to be the biggest issue, but it wont spawn like this when its finished. I don't know how it will, but im sure it will be akin to the mod just vastly improved. They have shown what they can do with the food/drink system, if they deliver a loot system that is equally as well thought out, and well implemented, it will be brilliant....patience people. What we have now is just for testing, for them do spawn locations in building or whatever. Later it will all get mixed up and have different chances of spawning. The mod was all about luck, and chance. You could go to a high value industrial....hell you could go to 3 , and still not find that part you were after :)

    Its evolving well this idea :) I like that aswell, no regen unless you are nice and hydrated/fed when you log. Id even advocate a ridiculously slow regen time for sleeping. Say at least 24 hours to regen and you carnt regen past 75% while sleeping or something :)

    So basically you can save yourself the 5 min wait by reading for 2 seconds before joining a server :P I do like that other idea though...If your on for a really really short time like 5-10secs then don't get the penalty. That's to short a time to loot or do anything constructive so why not :) EDIT - Call it miss click protection :)
  21. She's said twice that loot would replenish, just the time is debated. So there would always be new loot for players new to the game.... The rarity of said items would be the same for all players ;)

    Creating parties!

    Personally I like that meeting up takes time...its authentic. In the mod me and a friend have sat a place to meet, and that was our first nights play. Sort of both loot our way there in our own time then log, next day do stuff as a group. I guess what I mean is that being in a group is one of the most advantageous things in Dayz, so it shouldn't be gifted. We should have to work for it :)

    Sleeping suggestion

    Id say that a fair choice though. Do I want to keep playing and risk death, or log and come back at it tomorrow with some more HP. Im pretty sure people aren't going to stop a fun session and not play for a full however many hours to regain there blood when they could just respawn. I think it adds realism aswell....no meds? only option is to sleep or risk it :) EDIT - also if you wanted to sleep free of exposure chance, then there would be a risk in finding a bed, from both zeds and players.....unless you have a nice tucked away camp. Then its a risk to get back to camp on your low hp :)

    Hmmm...*reads topic title* ;) Id expect stuff like this for a while yet. Maybe its linked to the zombie collision problems, who knows. Best bet take a break for a while and come back a little later when the teething problems are ironed out. Dayz is still an infant learning to walk in my eyes :)
  25. I really really like that idea. Maybe many different items could serve the same purpose, so for example. If you need some wood to make something, you don't specificly have to find a piece of wood that's made for the job. Any piece would do if you had a knife to carve it into shape. But if you didn't have the knife you would need to seek out the right piece of wood for the job :)
