OP is a bit confusing to me, first you say its not helping KOS at all, but then say a shotgun is useless to you now as it ruins all there gear......seems to be working even in its prototype state. Once its improved, polished then balanced it should not only achieve the goal it was designed for but also add another level of depth to the survival aspects of the game. Lets face it the survival is what pulls in most players, not the action :)

Solnichy to Berezino is never 40mins even following the coast wih no compss. I got from zelen to svet in under 30 mins the other day....ok i had a compass so it was a strait shot but even without it wouldnt have taken much over. OP get exploring, the more you do the more the map shrinks. To echo the sentiments of other posters, this isnt a game where you spawn, gun in 5mins, shooting and firefights within 10 mins. Its a game of patience, much running and managing food drink levels, hence the "survival" part of the game. Basically be ready to sink in at least an hour to get kitted up, then another 30 or so to find combat (if thats what you want). But the aim isnt to fight.....its to survive. As someone else said, want a strait up fight in Chernarus, with instant access to many guns and forced PvP in small areas.......play Arma2 ;)

Well id say the update we are waiting on will be handling some of that. Its gonna have cooking and animals if I remember. So that's 2 things off that list. Iv had to accept battleye ToS popup a couple of times so theres the additional anti-hack going in periodicly. The simple zombie respawn mechanic is already in and im sure iv seen wood piles around, and stones, gathering resorses. I think they have made a start on most of it, when the new update hits most of that list could be done save a couple of things. That's a hearty list, and zombies is described as "ongoing", but rocket did say on rezzed thing that the new team were a lot closer than he hoped nav meshing the world....that was very good to hear (lets not forget how big of a world Chernarus is). Id save judging this list till the update drops as it may take care of a lot of it :)

Fair play lol I mean all the time, no landmarks, no coastline just woods....everywhere. Maybe you have to chase down a boar and fight it to survive because you went the wrong way :D Even with full random I could drop in, go "oh look its Vybor" and carry on my way. Maybe randomized within specific areas could work. Some sections of the coast, some in the greenbelt but not too close to mill spawns. But enough of them that spawn camping isn't doable. The few spread out along the coast in the mod were enough. I was never spawn killed there....just always bolted for the treeline lol

Hmm remembering suicide via zeds in the mod...wasn't too hard to kill yourself :) For random spawn points im against it, maybe its just from all that time spawning on the coast, but spawning in an inland town just feels....wrong....cant quite explain it. I think if you really wanna disorientate people spawn us in the green belt of woodland around the map edge lol. Imagine trying to determine where you are when your only reference is trees and the sloped floor. Plus I think it would feel more "survivalish", spawn in the wilderness, find civilisation, loot then push for the coast. Don't see them doing it, but always thought it could of been cool, might stop that belt being used for campsites aswell.

I say the EA was a brilliant move and has helped the game no end..... Without EA we wouldn't have them taking over a new studio dedicated to zombie AI Without EA we wouldn't be seeing the size of the dev team doubled Without EA we wouldn't have a team of mass testers (currently what.. 1.5 million strong) finding bugs, robustly testing new systems and features, and more importantly how these features effect the server and database under load, not just in a closed 20-40 tester environment. Without EA we would have a tiny team working there asses off, as triple A studios eventually fumbled there way to something generic but enough like dayz to pull in the masses. Without EA we would have the hype and popularity die down, we already saw the mod become quieter towards the end. Then we wouldn't have had the sales figures that allowed for everything I mentioned above. I rest my case :) -
I wonder if when we can cook stuff we will have to eat even less. Combining stuff and it being hot could make one decent meal last you a day, 3 square a day gets you the healthy status lol :)

im from the full 24hr cycle camp......I want the server im on to reflect what I see out of my window. I know that's just me and a lot would prefer a short one. But this is dayz!....the anti game! if its night it should be so for 12 hours....not less just because people want to experience it all in a couple of hours ;) A one hour night gives no time to actually enjoy the darkness. A planned mission from my campsite to NWA can be a 2-3 hour affair, Id find it immersion breaking to have that one mish account for 3 in game dayz. Not to mention prep for the night. Finding a nice server in the mod that went from day to night during my play session wasn't to hard. But if night only lasts one hour (or 30mins for a 1 hour cycle) then the added features wouldn't really have much time to take effect. Im not against them adding the faster time though.....each to his own. But I hope it dosent kill off all the true 24hr cycle servers. 64x just feels so gamey....id have thought it would be adjustable.....but not that much lol. That's gonna be like someone turning off the lights every 30mins or so :)

You will need Arma 2 and arrowhead installed to play the mod. Don't uninstall A2 lol ;) Cant help with 2nd part.....not that tech savvy, but I cant see it being an issue :) -
Pfff....origins.....once again taking it all together too far lol This is why it was so hard to find a good private hive, vanilla server....

I agree, we are much more fragile than games/ Hollywood would portray us to be. That being said iv seen things that amaze me. A friend of mine was attacked with a hammer while he waited for the bus one night, by the time I got there it was over, however dispite a hell of a lot of blood and 3 clear deprssions in his skull he was completely alert....it was weird. Iv also seen another friend hit with a shovel across the back of the head without warning. I tell you, that guy was not expecting him to turn round and start swinging. Now this guy is a boxer so I can understand he could take a hit, but the first guy works in a call centre lol. Hes never had a fight to speak of in his life but he took those hammer blows. I guess a lot is down to the individual, and there pain threshold. But for the majority of us a firm whack to the head from anything with weight would be game over :)

DAYZ MOD This is the old mod for arma2. To play you will require Arma 2 and Operation arrowhead. I recommend dayz commander to install dayz mod when you have those games installed. (and you are better getting the pack linked by enforcer for higher quality textures) DAYZ GAME This is the new Standalone version and is £20 on steam. For this you will not require arma 2 or arrowhead, just buy the game (dayz) from the steam store and play away :) -

il have another go....even tho I was wrong about the masks lol.... 9, no idea 10, maybe eventually....mod had music so SA should in the end 11, potatoes + throwing objects....one step closer :) 12, dunno, but il go with you on that one....bacon in a can sounds terrible 13, an army one? full metal jacket at complete guess lol 14, .....kids....internet....annonimity.....pent up adolescent anger....take your pick 15, whatever you want :).....kill bandits, help bambies or log out and wait for the next big patch :D

I see what you mean and while I do agree, I don't see any way to combat that. No other game can either. If I look at l4d as an example, every time I start I should have no idea which way to run, which turns to take or any of the shortcuts. But experience allows me to know that. Bar an elaborate brainwashing program after death, its just a given of gaming in general. I guess in one way or another we are all meta gamers. Even not knowing were doing it. At least with the loot being random it restricts it. Sure you know where your best chances of finding X piece of gear are best....but you can never be sure. I guess that's the best and only way dayz can combat that :) -
1, might just be the "raised" weapon stance 2, just drag both onto your toon in inventory screen 3, .....nabs.....said it yourself ;) 4, well if they insist on restricting there opponents view so they don't get shot so much....that's what happens :P 5, crowbar small point of impact....mor likely to bounce off or crush a small point of bone sticking in.....anx has more weight inertia and a much broader cutting edge, will lacerate better and sink deeper :) 6, they have said a lot....including that its being worked on...that was said less than an hour ago in another thread ;) 7,You killed me!.....and I gave you the gift of music! 8, pie.....ofc :) Hope that helps, sure il be corrected on any misinformation :)

Well said, couldn't agree more.... On topic.....VOIP, 3rd part maps, it all takes away from the game experience. But its also all on the player. The devs are providing us with the tools to have an authentic tie in dayz, and that's all they should have to. If the mentality of another gamer makes him loose out on a great ingame experience its not problem for me. Il be sat there using the walkies, searching for maps and playing dayz as it should be. There effect, to me, is no greater than any other game. There will always be a walkthrough or map or guide out there, that's just the way it is. Noble as it is to try and combat that, its about as much use as an ash tray on a motorbike :) -
Id love to see all the diving gear from A3 included. For lore it could be a diving company, or, seen as chernarus aint exactly the tropics, a lifeguard station. Have this great idea of storing those yellow cases on the sea bed at specific cords :)

I disagree, I think night is the best dayz experience. When we get chems and flares it will be brilliant. I remember playing the mod with nothing but a 5-10m circle of green light around me and the outline of buildings or trees against the night sky for orientation. Seeing a zombie emerge from the void into my little lit area was terrifying :) Don't see how 3pp is metagaming....its within the games defined rule set on that type of server. Locking FoV to resolution is fair though. The gamma lock is a bit problematic....what if I buy a new TV, il want to adjust the game settings again to compensate for my new hardware. New rig......same deal. Besides iv heard that you can just change it on graphics card program settings, so there really dosent seem to be a way round it unless something is done at engine level to make it none exploitable. -
The mod had all the barricades and vehicle wrecks clustered in towns mostly, then some to catch you out on the open road. I really cant wait for these to come back and im sure they will. Furnishing the map is something I don't think we will see till later on though. They may well be working on placement of some wrecks but with a portion of the north still unfinished they obviously wont be able to do anything up there for a while. I think they have thought about making the map more post apocalyptic, evidenced by the choice to use the old beaten down market model that wasn't seen in the old chernarus, but was on the (not very played) proving grounds map. I don't think they will put them in till they are all done though, mainly because they all get cached and loaded when player is near (if that carrys into the SA) so marking them all and writing the caching scripts will be time consuming. Not to mention the very process of placing these thousands of entities with no clipping or floating issues. Im not worried at all that by the time we hit full game, Chernarus will look a lot more apocalyptic :) PS cant wait tio be driving full speed down the road thinking "ahh I know theres no wrecks here".....then to crest a hill and barrel into either A. the wreck of a player car or B. the well placed tank trap someone built for an ambush :)

It is 21km....not 200 odd lol.......200km would be 200,000m its about 20,000m corner to corner....that's 20-21 km ;) Simple misunderstanding me thinks :) As for meeting up with friends.....that is the single most valuable asset in dayz. More than any gear piece or cloathing item. A second set of eyes is the ultimate survival tool and shouldn't be easy to get. Me and my friends usually pick a meeting point.....say Zelen. Then our first nights play is done solo, trying to make it there. The next night we all log in together and play as a group. That's not too hard or unreasonable. Just imaging the grinds of months some rpg games make you do.....just to be able to play with your friends. This game asks for an hour or less to meet up if you are determined....less if you know where you are going. Its just the boredom inbetween that gets people. I hope we never see something like group spawning....its against the dayz ethos, and would instantly give a huge advantage to groups with no effort to gain that advantage :)
