    Tents and Camps and Goals / what I miss

    Beans, I too really...really want tents back. I cant wait to set up a camp somewhere in the new north. Already scouted a lot of good sites. The one thing I worry about is that a lot of people want tents to be un-lootable by yourself, or simply deleted upon death. To me that destroys the whole point of setting up a camp. It should persist until its destroyed by a player and be freely lootable all the time, just like the mod....well that's my opinion anyways. The barricades could make for some interesting gameplay, while I don't really see them as a base building option I would like to seal up some doors in a big building to keep zombies out then try and hold it for a while. Keeping players from breaking down the barricades, and patching them up as zeds claw at them....could be awesome :)

    Ok so from my time on the forums before the SA came out I was of the opinion most players wanted an all together more hardcore experience. But a lot of the additions they are making seem to ditract from that. Here is a list of some of the things that I feel are anti-anti-game....if that makes sense lol... 1, The abundance of military buildings. 2, The healthy ststus 3, 1:1 mouse input The amount of mill buildings has more than tripled since the mod, that makes me feel like they are taking a leaf from overwatch's book and trying to make guns readily avalible. The healthy status just robs a huge element from the survival side of things. Anyone remember being badly wounded in the mod.....having no meat left or any food. Then your only option was to hunt or push into a zombie infested town.....even though you had blurry vision and washed out colour. Now with SA its just a case of bypassing that town and waiting to heal over time. Some tweaks like making it take much longer to heal and much harder to obtain could help I think. The 1:1 mouse input to me is just blatent dumming down of the engine to pander to the masses. OK so I get most people want what they are used to....a stupidly fast, gamey style control that while user friendly does nothing to emulate the restrictions a human being has as regards movement. All that being said there are things that keep me hopefull... 1, Wind effecting ballistics. This is to me a real anti-game feature. Makes it harder to shoot and maybe even require some research to become accurate. 2, Weather effecting your toon. Again brilliant, really adds depth to the survival features. 3, Infections. This I feel is a true anti-game feature. Allowing us to die without fault on our part really will drive home what dayz should (to me) be...a brutal unforgiving world where even if you do everything right you can still fail. So what do you think....is dayz still the anti-game? or is it moving towards a more user friendly experience?

    FINALLY!! WHOOOOOOOOOO now we are getting somewhere.... 1, Its third person perspective.....third person perspective allows you to see around more freely by definition. 3rd had nothing to do with controlling your AI army....that was the command map ;) Third was third, just another way to play arma. 2,so your butt hurt....we get it.... you KNEW that could happen upon joining that server....yet still made the choice to join. We shouldn't gimp the view because your upset. 3, Weeeeeak.......you agreed by clicking on the server.....maybe we need a box for people like you...."warning you may be shot in a manner that is only possible in 3pp.....because guess what.....your joining a 3pp server"....."do you agree?" 4, Again not telling you to go play first....im literally curious as hell and want a real answer.....if the goal of this mod is to make 3rd behave like 1st....why not play 1st? ....its obvious you don't like 3pp. 5, On a 1pp server I never have to worry that someone has eyes on from a place where I cannot see if I look hard enough....in 3rd they can.....harder pvp.... In 3rd they can run behind a wall then wait out of los with los on me and know exactly when il round the turn....not in 1st though....harder pvp... Now....using your ears....this is how you beat 3pp users, even if you are using 1st. Its easy to tell if someone is inside a building by doing the proper scouting and listening ;)

    Yep tents only stay on the server you place them on (mod). Id guess itl be that way in SA aswell :)

    Oh man good counter points there.....oh no wait....its another attempt at belittlement....so sad. Also love the way you tell me to answer peoples points then reply without a single relevant point to my arguments. Even thoug it was a direct answer to your question.............. Practice what you preach buddy :P I will answer your one question/point. Having some magic fog of war is gamey as hell. It would ruin immersion on a big scale, even forcing a blur or PP effect will just look completely stupid.....evidenced by the vid for this mod. Heres a list of all the points you apparently missed.....maybe il post this way from now on.... 1, 3rd is intended to see around/over things by design, changing that is breaking it not fixing it....insert counterpoint 2, you accept that you will have any scenario that could arise from 3pp happen by clicking on that server.....insert counterpoint 3, If you have agreed to this ruleset why are you so buthurt that people use it against you? 4, If you want 3rd to emulate 1st so much why not just play 1st and be done with it? 5,There are less things to factor in when playing 1st person combat vs 3rd..primerily your opponents lack of vision....insert counterpoint

    Quote me saying I like to peek.....you really are taking out of your rear end there sorry man. I in fact always (in futility it seems) tell you guys that I use 1st for combat and in cities. But as per usual people either don't read or just hear what they want to so I fit into there little 3rd user stereotype. So again a direct answer to your question.....something I seem to have a hard time getting here lol You should be able to see those things when in 3pp but not when in 1pp.....you make that decision upon selecting your server. as I have said quite a few times. Basically, seeing things that way GOES HAND IN HAND WITH 3PP.....WHAT WERE PEOPLE EXPECTING LOL NORMALLY in 3pp you can see things in this way NORMALLY in 1pp you cant ITS ALL NORMAL ATM, IT WOULDNT BE WITH THIS MOD That's my point, people are now trying to break 3pp to make it like 1pp......THEY ARE DIFFERENT BY DESIGN !!! As for the wallhacking thing...........Basically the point I was trying make was that if 3pp is like playing against wallhackers....then is it not logical to assume its gonna be harder against wallhackers than against none wallhackers??.....if anyone answers no to that they need some help lol Saying pVp is harder in 1pp is flawed logic 101, and simply a biproduct of ego :P The pic aradia posted shows exactly why its harder ;)

    That is completely fair game....I clicked on a 3pp on server...I expect that can happen there. If it was to bother me so much id go to a 1st person server. There are many ways (as iv said) to counter that trick you are using.... 1 check the windows and pop ur ass while your waiting for me to come through the door. 2 pause outside the door and carefully listen for the sound of breathing, or a "shuffle" of feet as you reposition to scope more 3 since everyone has it....sit in the corridor and do the exact same thing so I can see into your room...or outside the widow....anywhere I can get los inside. Theres many more that depend on situation to be effective but they generally work every time. Well except using 3rd to scope round, I don't use 3rd in cities I wanna see properly where my gun barrel is pointing. The bottom line for me is that you can combat any of this with patience and tactics, and MORE EFFORT, just seems some want a safety net for if they do something silly....like barrel into a building they haven't even bothered to do a risk assessment on :)

    Because your fixing 2 things....one that isn't a fix its a break. You fixing the clipping issue.....then breaking 3pp with some strange gamey fog/blur whatever that pops in and out of existence. Yes fix the clipping but no need to rush to this mod because it does that. Basically one real problem is fixed....then an imaginary problem is "fixed". But that breaks 3pp. Oh come on....nothing to do with other games. It was the direct comparison of dayz mouse movements to that of common fps that started the whole thing off. When in reality those games had it wrong and arma actually made an effort for realism. As for end bit.....3pp requires a lot more skill than 1pp....just try tailing someone in both views and see exactly what I mean, you cant get half as close when they have access to 3pp as you can when they only have access to 1st :)

    Because it should be done right...I could build you a garage in a day....or spend a week doing it to a much higher standard. Impatience will mess things up more that help imo. Community impatience already saw a half assed combat log system put into effect because they had to put something out there to stop the whining. This could end up the same, so much complaint that they add it just to clam people down. Then we end up living with a half asses system for ages. Yes your post is so in depth for combatting this imaginary problem, its not just a transparent attempt to belittle 3rd users that anyone with a brain cell or 2 to knock together can see right through. How about some counterpoints to my arguments instead of weak attempt at propaganda :P OK so why did we need 1:1 mouse input if what other games do is irellivent. It is relevant, it dispays how that view, used in other titles is managed. Its there for a lot more reasons than just "corner peeking" or whatever. Its so much more. Would help a little if you gave me some counterpoints to work with, other than saying im defending corner peeking or finding obscure relations between my avatar and view point :)

    There are more elegant ways to fix camera clipping... As for the first point....that's what 3pp does, in (pretty much) every title its used in....its a given. Saying its broken because of that is like saying saussages are broken because they have pork in them....it dosent add up. And that's my point....apart from the camera clipping it works fine, once that's fixed its a fully functional "as it should be" 3pp view :) Id call that a question....not an attack. I would like an answer....why not play HC if you don't like 3pp....not 3pp in arma...I mean 3pp in general. Because 3pp in arma is like most every other game that uses it. And that's why I say its not "broken", it works as it should....its just that some don't like the way it works period. OK iv already started saying "most" games in light of that ;) But should I make the list of games that use 3pp normally....could take a while ;)

    Ugh facepalm....haven't attacked anyone. An im discussing how greying out areas (the very foundation of this mod) is breaking 3pp view. That completely on topic, if its not then mods I await your wrath :P How exactly am I attacking people by having a different point of view? Oh and im not defending corner peeking....im defending 3rd person view as a whole. My point still stands that when you choose to join a 3pp server you are choosing to play with every pro and con that go hand in hand with that view......do we need a disclaimer on these servers for some that explains 3pp and what can happen if you CHOOSE to play on it. And the point that 3rd is intended to let you see more, greying out stuff is breaking it. Give me a game where they grey out areas in 3pp....give me a counter argument to either of my basic points....

    I think you too are confusing what im saying....yes camera clipping is an issue.....3pp view is not...it works as it does in every other game its been used in. Changing it to grey out areas that are not in direct line of sight is by definition.....breaking it lol What im saying is people that don't like the inherent ability to see more of the world that 3rd allows should simply play 1st.....seeing more of the world is what 3pp is intended for in every title its used in. Dayz is no exception, just because some feel its chep or cheating is not reason to mess it up. Again....the server is advertised as £PP enabled....so why complain about things that go hand in hand with that view when you agtreed that's how your playsession was going to be played....seesh lol

    what EXACTLY is BROKEN about 3pp as it is? to me its exactly as it should be.... If you are referring to making walls disappear this has nothing to do with 3pp, its a camera cipping issue. And is also not a problem exclusive to 3pp, it happens often in 1pp when just running round house interiors :P

    Ok so how is it "cheap" when the server is advertised ad 3pp enabled....3pp is 3pp, its not different game to game, its a constant. OK so the camera angle may be different but the world is never greyed out, or fogged. By clicking on that server you basically agree to take all the pros and cons of 3pp. Now you can win gunfights in 1st vs 3rd users.....they always have to expose themselves to take the shot, and with the animations we have that's not a split second affair. You should be aware completely that rooftops could have snipers on them, your duty is to observe the common places often, looking for that shape to pop up against the skyline. You should be doing this every few seconds, and moving in a mannor that denies line of sight from the common spots. This level of awareness is hard to maintain, and yes sometimes they get the drop on you, but people will get the drop on you sooner or later in dayz no matter what view your in. This is why I personally think pvp is so much harder on these servers....iv tailed people on HC servers in a way that I never would have been able to on 3rd. Its just all together much easier to do on HC. The friends thing is a pain, but that's like that in any game. I got friends who will only play 2 ....yes 2! of the entire what10 or 12? L4D2 levels. Is a pain in the arse to have to play the same one for the 3rd time because the guy who just logged on only plays that map.....but isn't that friendship, we make consesions to be able to spend time with our buddys. I swap between HC and reg a lot for just this reason :)

    Sorry but no one in there right mind camps a corner in dayz.....size of the map...ud be there for years waiting for some prey lol, this aint CS :P Its all a matter of realising your opponents capabilities and acting accordingly. You get to a building....don't just run round the corner and in....then cry "he knew I was coming....its all 3rd person views fault".....nope :P You could have waited outside and listened for breathing, footsteps or reload noises.....you could have popped out then in again forcing the 1st shot and gaining the intel you needed....its not hard atall to counter 3pp tricks....even when your in 1st person view. Finally theres nothing cheap about it.....its a different way to play. Don't like it.....why not play hardcore? Theres a place for everyone within dayz. But some people just aren't happy either way. To the people that don't like 3rd the way it is I say......you just don't like 3rd person view, that's not a bad thing just your preference. That dosent mean we should break it to high heaven just to make it fit with your view of "fair". For you there is a place with a different view that dosent have these capabilities. Also theres the classic....no one is making you corner peak....if your doing it....your doing it all by yourself and out of choice, its not the games fault ;)

    See now that's "breaking" 3rd person....as it is 3rd functions exactly as a 3PP should ;) The one thing I cant get past is that why does it bother any 1st person user what happens on a 3PP server....it will always come back to that for me lol If its because this would make you play on a 3pp server then I gotta say tough. You obviously don't like 3PP, those who do shouldn't have it gimped and broken just so those who don't like it can use it :)

    Never tried that variation, but it sounds really good. I could see that really pissing some people off it it happened, and that's exactly why they should do it lol. Remember those mod threads "man this game sucks I just keep getting killed by zombies" or "shit game cant even find a gun"....those were the best threads, they showed why dayz was such a hit. It was gruelling, hard to the point of infuriating at times....and I loved every second of it :)

    See im not on about content, but the feel of the game and how it treats the player. A lot of decisions seem to be more focused on pleasing people, than making the game harsh, unforgiving and not user friendly. That's what we all fell in love with playing the mod, then these servers came along that screwed all that up....yes im looking at epoch and overwatch. Now SA seems to be following in there footsteps....making the thing more user friendly and offering mill loot around every corner. Anti-game (to me) dosent mean lack of content.....it means it doesn't try to be fun....it tries to be brutally difficult offering no help at all (like objectives, waypoints, health bars......healing status's.....easy generic mouse input....ect ect) :)

    Im using the term anti-game in as much as it has no turtorials, no handholding, no objectives, no rules (well very few) ext ext. Maybe your right and what i mean is..."is dayz as unforgiving/difficult as it should be?". Im not trying to pick up one issue that then says "its not an anti-game" its the general trend of how issues are being addressed. It seems more that its leaning towards pleasing the masses than being the harsh unforgiving game it should be. So sad....but so true :(

    Agree on all except full random spawns.....but i think we had this chat the other day lol Main 3 reasons against... 1, No map flow 2, Scouting an area before going in becomes a little useless 3, For peeps that know the map well enough there wouldn't be much disorientation, just disappointment or glee as to where they spawned :) With 3 that's sort of what im getting at. Should the anti-game really make its self like every other. Then loose the anti.....and just becomes another game. Or should it say no! we will strive for authenticity and not cave under pressure :)

    Blood on cloaths you take from victims.......could this be the new bandit identification?? :) I did a sugestion ages ago for blood on hands if you search a dead body, this could play into that a lot. These crazy pshco guys could finally start to look like crazy phsco guys instead of just like everyone else. It could be washed off with water or something but that could be a hard choice if you are low on supplies :)

    Im sceptical on this update atm, not tried the mouse controls yet but thats a biggie for me....best still feel like a human being not superman. For those that are finding the gamma not working.....that "trick" is entirely dependant on the ingame time of month. If its in a late lunar phase there will be very little moonlight for the gamma to pick up. A full moon night would see much better results, been this way since the mod. Could that be the solution though, make all servers have "full moon nights" that way we all have washed out greys and blacks all the time. Instead of one guy having pitch and one having very visable. Id prefer pitch black all the time but i could live with full moon nights just in the interests of fair play :)
