I agree that dayz has twitch elements, but I feel like 1:1 encourages players to play less tacticly and more "twitch" style. Mouse accel used to actively discourage twitch style play, biting you in the ass if you tried it. You could still do very fast mouse motions, but cross the line of "controlled motion" to "twitch", and get punished. That's where I make the distinction. Controlled motion - you have to think about what you are doing every time you do it, being carefull not to move too fast. Twitch - no thought just snap mouse off muscle memory and fire hoping it got there. In a way it used to be anti-twitch. Activley dicouroging that common style of fps play, making us favour a tactical approach that gives us the drop on the enemy. That's how it should be, not teaching us...."hey....don't worry if you get snuck up on......you can just spin round and pwn him in 0.1 secs." :(

I went for a Turtle Beach x12 Didn't want to spend a bomb and this was £40 so it ticked that box. Sound quality is great, although my system has some problems recognising it as a complete headset. It still functions perfectly just PC thinks its separate components....no biggie. And im sure its usable on x-box aswell :) All in I give it 9/10.....looses a point because pc wont detect as a headset :) EDIT - just had a look at the box, and it says 360 and pc compatible

Guys....this feature will inherently bring a plethora of glitches....expect it lol The features have to go in to create the bugs. Real major bugs would be addressed now, but a lot will linger till the bug fix drive that is beta...be prepared. Im really excited to see this feature. Im sure those herds are just for show pics. In the mod most animals spawned one at a time. Sometimes you would see 2 mayyybe 3 if ya knew where to look. Wandering what tools we will need to actually get food from them, many times I shot a sheep in the mod...then realised I didn't have a knife....or no matches. Hopefully some things will be multi-use. So we could use an axe head to gut it, but just like opening a can, the results wouldn't be as good as say a hunting knife. That way having the right tool is rewarding, but its not the end of the world if you aint got it. Survival is improvisation ;)

What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.
Karmaterror replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
My list for December.... Proper zombies....Theres more than enough time between now and then for this new studio to drop a hell of an update. With that many peeps dedicated to zombie AI I think some peeps will be in for a surprise. Vehicles....Not just ported mod vehicles but re-worked dayZ SA ones. Not to mention a new repair system, and judging from the food drink system that's gonna be epic. Mayyyyybe direct x 10/11....Huge thing for the engine.....lets see moders do this ;) Hunting and Enemy animals.....In the mod - animals just wander aimlessly and don't react to anything. SA - dean has said animals will be like reverse zombies and trry to avoid you, also we can get hurt by some. Modders are great, but while those pirates have some crappy ported mod stuff, im more than happy to keep that in the mod. Il wait and watch as the dev team hopefully improves on each mechanic one by one. I hope each one they do crushes more and more of the negative...."too slow" people. It isn't going slow....its just they aren't throwing in things just to make it "enjoyable". They are focusing on more core elements of the engine to make it perform better. Oh and at the same time doing zombie AI, and trickling in content updates like items and such all the time. I -
Hmmm if you have the "healthy" status....logic dictates you are both energised and hydrated....id chalk this up to a bug maybe? Like the one where you don't see the"healing" or "healthy" status even though colour is returning to the screen :)

Have the devs addressed the gamma night vision issue?
Karmaterror replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
If clouds off>gamma 75% >brightness 75% Doesn't let you see (at least a little) one of two things is happening.... 1, Server is in a stage of the lunar cycle where it doesn't give off enough light to light anything....or... 2, You are in that time just after the sun goes down and the moon hasn't risen yet. (in this case 45mins-an hour should see it come up) then the gamma trick will work again ;) I love the pitch black. I think its very realistic and actually makes torches/lanterns/chemlights and flares (when we get them) very usefull, nothing like hearing infected everywhere in the mod but only being able to make out a shadow against the sky, or having one sprint out of the void into your little lit area, was awesome:) -
So how much of a thrill do you cheaters get when playing DayZ?
Karmaterror replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
YES You do need to find an excuse to stop for a bit lol How can you have logged 900hours on a game that's such a shell of its mod predecessor lol If the game as it is now is that enjoyable....try Arma 2...all you will miss is 2 zombies in each town ;) Iv got well over 1000hrs in the mod but only 60odd in SA. I just cant play it for more that 30mins at a time...not till theres proper zombies, enough of them, base building, hunting and vehicles. Its just so boring atm. With those it catches up to the mod a lot. Don't get me wrong, the main feature for me atm is food drink system....and that's such a vast improvement from the mod I cant wait to see how well done the other systems are :) -
Have the devs addressed the gamma night vision issue?
Karmaterror replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Dosent matter if ya gamma is up or down...a light broadcasts your location either way. I thought pulling out the renderer was going to help with this....maybe I got confused though :) PS I hope we never see those floating on screen waypoints in-game. We should have to actually look at the gps screen just like the compass :) -
What dayz could have been without zombies
Karmaterror replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
In there current state they do nothing for the game...this is true. But if they can make them a threat again, they will add so much more to the game. They can be the ones slowing us down constantly...making a trip to NWA feel like an accomplishment....not just a hold of the w key for x minuets. They are the ones that will make looting hard and challenging. It wont be run into that house for loot....itl be can I run into that house for loot? Do I have the ammo to get upstairs then fight my way out past the infected coming up the stairs. This way we have to fight for loot not just scavenger hunt it. Id count dayz as having no zombies now.....compared to the mod there may as well be none. And look where that's got us, a PvP fest. Now Dayz does seem to be adding to the environment to make it a challenge. Im sure temp will come back...then theres these 7 or so diff infections. Balancing during beta can make hunger and thirst a challenge, not to mention food already exists that can kill us. So the environment will be a big enemy. All those bumping into people unaware, and the indecision that follows have, to me at least, always been present in dayz....in fact what made it great. I don't get how no zombies promotes that, nor do I get how no zeds would mean less pvp. Its generally agreed a big threat from zombies would go a long way toards helping with pvp.Turns it into an "us vs them" scenario, instead of every man/group for themselves with no common enemy :) -
Iv noticed that since this new patch I don't have to right click something in my inv 8 times to get the context menu up. Sometimes there is a small delay but I can chalk that up to my connection being crap. OK so iv had a can of drink that never ended...but that's the only issue. Apart from that its a big improvement. Is it to do with the guaranteed network messaging? If so kudos devs....best new feature so far, cant express enough how irritating it was to have to click so many times :)

Better Inventory Interaction Since Patch?
Karmaterror replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I think a lot of the stuff we see pioneered in dayz could find its way into future arma games. Imagine an arma game with a detailed vehicle repair system. Or a battlefield full of hungry soldiers with uh-60's dropping food crates. Not to mention network improvements like this one :) -
Realised I miss one of the mosted hated "feature"
Karmaterror replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
You guys seem to be using side chat more for evil....some of used it for good. I was the guy offering air taxi for people, always eventually getting backstabbed for my heli lol That's what made tents so great aswell, I could stash all my gear, take nothing but a macrov for zombie defence then set out to be a hero, informing everyone over side that alls I had was a macrov so theres not much point shooting me for gear :) The community thing is so true aswell. On our private hive groups gained a reputation, some made pacts and stuff, others would broadast to new spawns they would happily hunt any bandits if given a location....like someone else said it made it feel more "alive". We just need a way to introduce it so it cant be used for trolling, and fits into the game. IE a walkie to be able to use it....or have walkies function as the do now, then add a mobile phone or satellite phone that grants access to sidechat....gotta be a lore friendly way to have it :) -
I was having a go on SA last night, after about an hour or so I find myself running through the woods. In the distance I see some power lines that cross my path. I instantly drop to crouch, and begin approaching the middle of the gap between 2 pylons scanning for zombies. I leave a bush close to the wire and start crouch walking under them.....so I wont startle the zeds. I clear the wire completely baffeled as to why I haven't seen one zombie....then it hits me....your on the SA. What a waste of a tactical power line crossing lol :) Anyone else got any facepalm moments where they forgot they were in the SA?

Realised I miss one of the mosted hated "feature"
Karmaterror replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
I remember in the mod we could mute players....if I remember right that muted there side chat voice....but not txt. Now if they made both mutable, we could stop the trolls, by leaving them to troll themselves.....counter trolling lol :) -
Realised I miss one of the mosted hated "feature"
Karmaterror replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
That's a dangerous game...I like it though. I saw a good idea that having a walkie could open up txt only side channel. I think that's a good way to have it, but make it fit into the game world better. Could still just have the ranged voice comms based on frequency, but for txt its server wide if you have a walkie :) -
Those times when you forget your playing the SA :)
Karmaterror replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
Grammar natzi :P....but seriously....*hangs head in shame* :) -
IMO this is just as valid a viewpont as the many threads that bash the devs. Theres so many of em out there, Its nice to stumble upon one that just expresses thanks and supports quality over speed ;)

Came expecting another of "those" threads....pleasant surprise :) Have some beans....and devs....what he said^ :)

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Karmaterror replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Will you please do some research...or at least read ffs... Ongoing core work... Direct x 10/11 support Proper muti-core support 64bit servers Ongoing zombie work ENTIRES STUDIO WORTH OF DEVS PUT ON THE JOB Now with that in mind....what else do you want them to do?....oh wait...you want all the rewards of that investment and work to happen overnight......TOUGH....IT TAKES TIME. /endrant -
Do some research... Whole new studio working on zeds Diff teams work on diff things, that's why you see track suits added before features We are 13% into dev time, give them a chance....at 50% (entering beta) we should see bug fixing come right to the top of the list :)

I feel like someone is watching me.. wtf?
Karmaterror replied to Mr Jizz's topic in General Discussion
Sooo is this for real or troll admin? If its real then W....T....F! I don't want to know im being watched....ever. I want that adrenaline rush as the first round impacts the floor feet from me even though I thought I was alone. This would be a big immersion breaker for me....please be a troll admin not a feature :) -
Updated last week....check official boards at top of forum for changelog :)

Don't let em get to ya. I have been reported as a hacker to my old mod server admins many times by people. I always used to admit my kills, so maybe I asked for it lol A lot of times the admins were listening in on IRC and knew it wasn't a hack. On the odd occasion they weren't id get flamed for ages. Even people trying to warn new joiners about the "hacker" whos online. Then when ya get some backup in the form of posted log entries....they rq lol Bottom line is most dayz players think that if they didn't see it coming it was a hack.....99% of the time its a legit kill lol

Imagine if we pulled this off for a couple of hours (er lol!).
Karmaterror replied to mooky32's topic in General Discussion
This is awesome, great idea. I really hope in the end the zombies are so many in number that we cannot do things lie this. Tried it a few times on the mod, I went with some friend to secure a small town....I took 5 m249 belts....my ammo lasted about 20mins lol :) Devs bring back those relentless zombies that never stop....Great way to burn some ammo and get experience firing guns outside of PvP encounters :) -
What's the longest you've gone with a single DayZ character before dying?
Karmaterror replied to Speightinator's topic in General Discussion
I had a guy from about 3 weeks after alpha till about a week and a half ago. Some A-hole spary and prayed me at NEAF lol Wasn't much actual in-game time....maybe 50 hours, im on 60 hours now so that's my best guess, he also survived a gear giveaway on the forums which was cool....and very surprising :)
