Shouldn't zombies also bleed to death eventually?

Having a zed "life cycle" would be amazing. Each server could have its own ecosystem, where the bodies of dead players+animals sustain the zombies. Some die out to hunger or thirst. Then get replaced by a new spawned zombie way away from the town. Maybe they could even eat there own dead lol. Maybe they could do the same to animals, those too could have there own little ecosystem. Preditors hunt and eat prey, prey eats vegetation, zombies eat everything. It could effect gameplay aswell, agroing a hungry bear could be much easier than agroing a well fed one. For OP I think yes they should bleed (and be effected by hunger thirst....everything a human would.)

    Great netcode/10

Nah he was about 300m out. I did sometimes see a bit of delay using things like assault rifles in CqC, but never anything as bad as what some people are reporting. Worst case was a guy took a step, maybe 2, before he dropped from a fatal amount of small arms fire.. Iv had it really bad in the SA though. heard a guy come into a jail with me, backed up from the main door strait into my line of fire. Even though I fired first and hit with most of 2 auto bursts, he still landed a few rounds before dropping lol. I just chalk t up to desync/lag when it does happen :)

    Great netcode/10

Never had this on the mod myself. One of our group once dropped a 5 man group fixing a bus with ASS50 in under 10 seconds. Hit and kill detection was perfect. Noticed it up close but only slightly, and once in a blue moon. Maybe theres some bugs to iron out with the new network bubble, its still a prototype really. Guess wel have to wait till beta for some major optimisation.

    new night time lighting

The shot just looks like server date is more towards a full moon. Is it a proper redo of night, maybe the start of the prep for new directx?

    Food as Currency

On the mod I once traded some guy my nvg for a morphine shot and a hunting knife....those two were muchmore valuable to me at that time than the nvg, because I was starving and had broken legs. Once a guy traded his quad for NVG, now to me the quad was worth much more (being one of the most concealable vehicles) but he was tryingto get to NWAand couldn't see shit ouside his headlights, so was happy to go on foot with the NVG. Basically we don't need some "currency", because everything is currency. Its value changes all the time depending on what the other person, or you, need. Branding one specific item a currency takes away that whole dynamic of trading. I know its hard to trade when no one trusts eachother, but that's the pub hive....always has been. On a private server you get to know who you can and cannot trade with. With the introduction of walkie talkies and channels, keeping a deent trade relationship with another clan should be even easier. No more posting sentrys because we had to organise it on global. Just pick a channel and both tune in when your both online to see if anyone needs anything :)

The spirit of day z is dieing

There was a humanity system in Vanilla Dayz mod dude. I liked it because it gave an insentive to play one way or another. Even though it was just a skin, some people would play friendly life after life trying to get it. Now there is no insentive either way, apart from a friendly player who avoids encounters is probably gonna live longer. I agree that when more features come in therewill be a bit of a reduction in KoS. Simply because that wont be everyones sole mission. The will be out to find a tent, or stock one, or look for car parts ect ect. Then combat becomes more random encounters while doing something else. Also people may be less likey to wanna have a fight when they carrying a car wheel they really need and spent a day searching for :) I agree, we should lend from real life. Blood from murders/searching bodies on hands/face (depending on weapon used. Make it washable so its not permanent. That way we get a more in depth kill system, that involves cleaning up afterwards or give away your true nature to the next player you meet. Also if blood stains built up on cloaths, could be the new look "bandit skin" That still keeps an element of suspence, you could be talking to a pro, who washes and changes cloths after each CqC/melee kill, or just kills from distance and doesn't loot. Or it does that smile and clean pressed white shirt buy your confidence. Its maybe at least an insentive to play nice ill you have the materials to cover your kills. Will alays be that tipping point where you built a camp....got all great gear....and just want some good old PvP. :)

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

For everyone saying that its good not to know, that would still apply. A bandit or hero identification would have to be earned either way, most would be running round as survivors with no identification either way. What they need is a more robust system to gain/loose the identification so it cant be exploited by squads. I was thinking the identification could be a facial expression or face texture. Its pretty lore friendly, maybe some blood spatter on face from an axe kill. That way bandits would have some sort of ID but could cover it up with a mask or something, or wash it off. Then when you meet you can ask them "why you have a mask on?" maybe try get em to take it off to prove they haven't killed. Same could go for hands, bloody ones after searching a body, could be washed off with rags+water or hidden by gloves. At least then theres lore friendly "pointers" towards how someone has been playing. With the option to clean yourself up after each kill or hide your facial expression with a mask it would make bandits have to think more about making a kill, how they will cover/clean it up or explain to the next person they meet..."why are your hands and face covered in blood.....and why do you have that creepy expression on your face?" :)

    No fog?

anyone remember the fog closing in when it rained on the mod? Does that still happen? It was quite realistic, if a pain in the ass....couldn't see the 2nd electro fireststion from sniper hill when it rained ;) PS, if wind and weather will effect shots....im sure we will get some pretty cool fog later on :)
  11. What if..... They made the big fuel cylinder at NWA the only source of jet fuel on the entire map....then you are forced to go to a high traffic PvP zone if you want to keep it running :) Fits with the whole Risk/Reward thing :) Oh and... I knew one day we would agree on something :)
  12. Aint that why they added stashes though....remember those pics from dean way back when..."try and spot the stash in these screenies"....he was stood right in front of one and it was nearly invisible. That's why you only leave some basic loot in the tents, they only decoys, your good stuff is buried in the impossible to spot from the air stashes :) With ya on the barns thing tho, that's failed me a couple of times....log in....DOH! THB that's the main reason I don't see barricading for bases working. They gotta let us get through a boarded up window quickly with an axe.....a bricked up door....sledgehammer (takes less than a min to make a man sized hole in a wall if you are determined). So whos gonna put all that effort in to fully barricade a house when its so easy to get in and you have no concealment. Much rather have a well placed tent/stash. Its just as vunerable but benefits from having no lootable buildings near to draw players, and compared to a house its concealment factor is off the charts lol Opps think I strayed off topic a bit there....yeah base counter for helis is stashes, cant see them from the ground let alone the air, or camp under a roof :)
  13. Going places quickly, with the downside of being noisy and exposed sounds like a great endgame to me. Its just a "holy grail" item, something we can all strive for. Learn to camp smart man. Theres tonnes of ways to stop a heli seeing your stuff..... Small white barn will fit UAZ SUV and pushbike + quad (bit of a squeeze and a 5-10 mins of "wiggling" them in. But then you have loads of item slots as a base that the heli cant see. Pitch 3 tents....put some random junk in them....then make 3 stashes nearby.....decoy tents haven't failed me yet. This is the type of thing it adds to the game... tactics in camping, another different sized different speed target, a longer term goal for survivors, A choice....inexperienced pilot finds heli for first time....but just found an item hes been after for ages....risk it or not? I remember a lot of people in the mod used to crash on takeoff, was hilarious when they would win the firefight only to crash the heli moments later. Now that was without the ToH controls that are a level above Armas. Guess Im saying that they killed a lot of people in the mod....and if the whole 7 day respawn that it used to be comes back, they will be such a rare sight :) PS we aren't talking like 10 fully armed attack helis, just one armed one per server....if gets destroyed hela long wait for it to reappear so on....
  14. Indeed they are not. They are more of a burden after a while than land based vehicles. Fuelling them, repairing x amount of glass because someone had a go with an ak, leading people back to your camp, hard to hide, the list is huge when it comes to drawbacks of having a heli. And as OP says its not easy firing from moving platform. I (only once) had a huey roll up on me as a freshy. Predictably they hit auto and rotated for the gunner....that gave me time to get behind a tree. 1st door gunner opens up....creaming all his ammo over about 30-45 seconds. Heli pilot then spins it and lets the other have a go....he too wastes all his ammo. While its going down the one piece of the heli I can see (tail rot) is waving up and down as the inexperienced pilot tries to fight auto, instead of knocking it off and creeping or trying a quick pass or two. The only people I can see thinking they are are the guys that never had one....they only saw them cruising round in the sky....some sort of angel of death. But the guys inside the heli know full well how exposed and vunearble they are.

Once upon a wonderful morning in Chernaurus...

Imagine if as you crest the hill you see movement in the town below. As you look through your binoculars you see a bear haymekering zombies left and right, they kill it eventually only leaving a few zeds in the town....mmmmmm epic loooots....then you hear the low growl of the lead wolf in the pack feet behind you :)

Vehicles & how I think they should work ingame

One thing I really hope is that we cant lock them in the SA.....it would kill my endgame.. Find epic camp of top group on server(or friendly group, anyone really)>> Move all there cars to a diff location>> Hold for ransom of one can of mountain dew depsited on NWA tower at a precice time>> If not pic of smouldering wrecks goes on server forums 5 mins after deadline :).....(if its a friendly group they get an extension...bandits group no mercy)
  19. Nope, that's all controlled by the central hive/server. The high loot servers basically means they restart often to refresh the loot. That's the only power an admin has atm, kick, and restart :)

Vehicles & how I think they should work ingame

I could so go for that instead of mounted guns. With us having ToH engine parts then hopefully there will be a bit of sway/drift to any auto-hover function, add to that rifle sway, and while possible a 1000m headshot compensating for heli drif and weapon sway and windage and weather would be a one in a million shot :)

    The 5 Rules Of Dayz...

Iv said that to myself so many times in-game... "what was..."...."Did I just hear...." *raises weapon* :) So true....game knows exactly what you are looking for....no one knows how....no one knows why....we just know it does :D

Vehicles & how I think they should work ingame

OK what bastardisation of dayz was your flavour? epoch?....overwatch? Get ya self on a vanilla mod server, no black hawks, worst youl see is a huey, and only the one on each server. I don't mind the door guns on those because sitting in that seat is a death sentence. Alls it takes is a well placed half mag from an assault rifle and bye bye gunner, pilot if ya get lucky. Good snipers love it when they hear a heli approaching. I agree land vehicles should remain unarmed....maybe armoured, but not armed. They have a massive concealment advantage over something like a heli. Not to mention how much quieter they are. Another thing is don't be surprised how hard it is to shoot from a moving platform as apposed to shooting at a moving target. If I had to choose between heli door gun trying to hit a survivor as heli makes evasive vs being planted on the ground with a rifle compensating for the helis movement.....il take ground with rifle any day :) Defo up for cobbling together cars. Id like to see them actually missing bodywork and stuff....."improvised bonnet"....."improvised wing" ect ect, get our rides looking properly post apocalyptic :)

    why not fun?

I met all my dayz buddies in game. Most back in the mod, our group was well known as a friendly group on our private hive. We gave lifts, med help all sorts. Had a lot of combat aswell due to two large, well entranced, bandit groups. My best dayz buddy actually started things off by getting his friend to join the server....then making the mistake of telling him what direction I flew in and to go look for my camp....and not to tell me he said that. Only prob was he typed all that into global :) It was an old trick and I knew never to fly directly towards my camp when crossing the map, id actually flown off at about 90 degrees and circled in off map. After a quick warning that our group was about 6 strong, and ready to deal with him and his friend if necisary, I took him the car wheel he needed. From there we got to know eachother then after about a week I showed him the campsite....and just to be sure asked the whole clan to be there as a show of strength. That was all about 2 years ago now and we still play the mod together, even though most of the rest have quit. Playing friendly dosent mean playing dumb. If you play smart you'd be surprised how well things can turn out :)
