    Zombies should respawn after 7-10 minutes, not immediately

    Being a mod vet im used to the rapid spawns and wouldn't have it any other way. Zeds need to be a threat is thrown around a lot in the forums....then when they actually are this starts happening. I really hate the idea of being in a town in dayz with no zombies. That could happen even with the devs intended system. Rapid close respawning that makes you have to be quiet and use stealth, is the best way IMO. If its unplayable because they wont stop coming try this... Whats happening (I think) is you shoot zombie A....shots draw B,C,D...ect...lets say up to H. By the time you are dispatching zombie H, A-C have respawned and hear the shots Try just using melee in areas that spawn a few zeds. Firing a gun, in a town, in Dayz, should be suicide.

    Defib a dead person

    Im against this one, had my fun with the norrins revive script back in the arma 2 days. Want a proper medical system based on realism for dayz. Defibs should only work as they do IRL, we should have to check the pulse of our fallen comrade to determine wether it will help or kill him. What happened to transferable skills? If defibs bring people back to life for the sake of gameplay then that's breaking that mantra strait away. To everyone that goes for the old "a splint/morphine insta fixes your leg" defence... How do we know they aren't going to make morphine a temporary measure, working as it would IRL dulling the pain so you could at least stand and limp around? How do we know splints wont take time to heal a broken bone, regaining mobility bit by bit as it heals? Maybe it could become a wearable item, that if taken off to early can result in a fresh break. So I say make defibs function properly as part of a very in depth medical system :)

    Dayz needs pvp free servers

    If you have just been shot 10 times after saying "im friendly damit!" I can see the allure of PvE servers. I even tried on once for that reason....I just wanted some interaction and surviving. Left within 30 mins, honestly its just so dull. All the emotions dayz elicits in people are down to the constant threat of PvP. Theres no tension at all, that whole feeling of being at risk dissolves instantly. Well that's what I found anyways :)
  5. Sad that the hive has gone but private hives were always my preference anyway. Thanks for all the helpful posts in this thread, been off the mod for a month or 2 so iv missed this game spy thing. So at this moment is commander usable or is direct IP connecting the best bet still?

    DayZ Commander Problem with game

    Have you tried waiting for the server name to turn white (can take a while).....I think if it doesn't turn white then DZC is still verifying version. Beta up to date? Did you also reinstall Dayz when you reinstalled commander? Checked the files are there? Think its c>Program files>steam>steam apps>Common>arma 2>@dayz.......or....Arma2Opperation Arrowhead>@Dayz Did hear that since gamespy whent down commander wont work. Anyone can confirm that??

    Plenty of people have explained that perfecting things comes in beta....not alpha.....so explain why you would expect ANYTHING to be perfect pre beta? You could have spent 5 mins on google to see what an alpha was....read the roadmap.....watched a devblog....read a forum response that explained it.

    Il add to the whole cross platform thing.....it wont work if they go that route. Its been tried many times before and I cannot think of one success. Dayz will help console players against PC users because unlike most "twitch" shooters its more tactical. Often there is no actuall combat, just hunting and the kill. With games like BF a console analogue stick can never match the speed of a mouse. But mark my words within hours console players will be moaning that they cant keep up with PC players in CqC ;) PS inb4 merge....this thread is no more serious its just your initial opinion is different from the popular opinion....not new thread worthy to me sry :)

    Performance = Engine upgrades and making it actually us ram properly. As for a console release I say good. A console "version" often differs from the pc version of a game. Anyone remember the PS2 version of BF2.....was a completely different game. Im hoping they do something like that. Keep the PC version really in depth and just filter some stuff for console to make it easier on the controls. Keep an open mind though guys....the more money they make the bigger the chances of a Dayz2...with its own map, building models ect ect :)

    I explained this in another thred...to you aswell lol. Why spend weeks polishing a feature that the next feature may break. Makes a lot of sense to keep feature A in its simplest form with as little to code to inspect when feature B breaks it. Only when all the features work in harmony can they start refining each one....make sense? For the thread....hate to be that guy, but there is a suggestions section for ideas ;) Some of mine are... Degrading skills that are learnt from reading books and degrade over time, must study the book to keep the skill high. Bash/Shove From L4D Workbenches, and loads more lol

    My response to dupers.

    Duping is terrible. It would kill the chance for things like your group only having one sniper rifle, and even though you want it yourself, you would give it to the best sniper and take his weapon to upp survival odds. Dupers aren't playing for a survival game, they are playing to "win"....something that's technically impossible in dayz lol. You did the right thing blocking him, seems like some kid convincing himself "everyone else does it...so I will". The remark was pretty in tone for the language he was using. I think we can all remember a time we said something in the heat of the moment we regretted later on.

    Some great stories here, and some hilarious ones, keep em coming. Nice to see some starvation ones creeping in...wouldn't have seen that before loot respawn went from restarts to the new system. Its finally becoming a survival game, keep up the good work devs!

    Do we want vehicles?

    Wouldn't worry about that in the SA. Our private hive admins came up with a script that respawned any vehicle in the "wasteland" map boarders on restarts. If they can come up with something like that im sure the devs will aswell :)
  15. I think tents/ persistence + vehicles will solve what you are taking about. Doing something meaningfull as a group - Vehicles are great for that, you can all split up and look for the parts, and its a great reward if you succeed. Carving out a community - Tens will facilitate that a bit, add barricading and you can make a nice place to call home. With a group that can grow fast, but as is the nature of the game it can all be lost in an instant. We even getting horticulture to add to that now. Trading - That's already in, I like that its not all packaged....like enter trade mode and no one can shoot or something. Adding items only increases the trading options. Services - Say you fix a car, or heli then you can offer transport. Its risky as hell but again I like that ist realistic, at any time you could be backstabbed. That helps towards the tension and fear. I want all the same things in game, I just think that the current plan will deliver it all :)

    I was a bit like that, wasn't trying to die by running through electro but had same guy for about 4 months. It will happen....when you least expect it, or you will let your guard down. Has the paranoia started to build yet? I eventually died by letting my guard down. I saw something move on NEA....decided it was nothing, then got shot in the back point blank in the prison lol

    Not sure if dayz db has updated stuff for the SA, but it used to have each guns audiable range. AKM's were 180m so if you fired that in a small town, be ready for the horde. The horde wont stop either because the fresh repawing zeds her the last shots from you killing zombies and run at you again. Im sure that may be what people are misinterpreting as "pre agrod zombies". Swap to melee if you want to live.....then you can mop up all you startled without pulling more. Its just managing agro, something I hope stays in the game :)

    In-game Currency

    A trade centre....in a town....in dayz.....BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH As you guessed I don't think this will ever start to happen. They would get surrounded and sniped, then have there "trade post" looted by a group using a concealed campsite. I like there being no currency, I lets items have a dynamic value. Its like mosley said, if you are starving to death then your gun is worthless....a tin of beans though. NVG was one of the "holy grail" items in the mod....but still, I rank a vehicle much higher. I willingly traded mine to some guy on the mod for a quad and thought it was a great deal. He was happy to be able to see (lil story about that at and). But obviously to him, at that time, the NGV were more important. The story of quad guy and the nvg - So me and my 3 friends had got nice and entrenched on a server, we all had a ghillie on and a set of nvg at the time. We decided to head to stary for a loot run, parts for an offroad and ammo were top priority. We get to about 500m out and start scoping round for activity. Alls quiet, no zeds around (thanks for fixing that SA!) so we head in. All of a sudden the entire hillside lights up as a quad crests the road into town from the south east, heading for novy. We dart to some bushes for concealment and start spreading out. The quad dosent stop at novy but drives strait to the mill tents. We start to close in around the tents, confirming he has no NVG we decide get as close as poss and try for a friendly encounter. Slowly we draw in, he heads to the market on foot and we follow his movements. 100m...50m...20m...I start to see my teammates again and as he exits the orange hose into the street we circle him. Trying to avoid the cone of light from his Remington was a fun game, and we did quite well. All of us got to about 10m, maybe less, then one of the funniest moments from all my time in dayz. The guys remmy flashlight lands on one of our team, he quickly turns to run no doubt crapping himself after seeing a ghillie suited DMR guy that close. As he turns his light lands on the 2nd guy (me), another attempt to turn and he spots our 3rd :D Then...the toon instantly stops moving and slowly the torch beam,in the same manor mavin from hitchhikers would hang his head, points at the floor in defeat. Im 100% sure he was expecting some ruthless close range execution, but we talked to him and ended up sending him on his way with an ak, 2 mags and NVG...in exchange for his quad :)

    What lags less? DayZ Mod or Game?

    For me the mod lags much much less. Not sure if that's just a standalone networking issue that needs optimising though. Video card wise, both about the same. The mod is a bit smoother based on me having to upgrade my rig for sa as a quad coore with a 2gb NVidia card just wasn't performing like it did in the mod. Gameplay wise....mod hands down for now....SA is catching up quick though. In another month or 2 I see it actually starting to surpass the mod :)

    I hope that its the start of a server setting panel in the browser. if it is I hope that... A, That becomes an icon B, Another icon is added that indicates Hardcore or Regular That way server admins can run whatever they want. HC gameplay with 3pp, HC 1st only, Reg gameplay 3pp and Reg 1st only. Your char could swap to and from servers with diff perspective, but only within there own difficulty. I know it sounds like a lot but that's only 2 server settings :)

    Anything based on server retsrts would be far more exploitable than whats being described here IMO. This cures the ,ods issue of running back and forth, because if you don't remove the loot nothing new will be able to spawn there, and the system may pick a different location to spawn a new item. It randomises looting a lot in comparison to the mods system :) PS...people starving to death.... BRILLIANT!!
