Right now it would seem like more players would be great. But those numbers with persistence and vehicles, forget camping and vehicles....that's all outa the window lol. Vehicles will probs spend 90% of there time waiting to respawn, and a tent you put up will last all of an hour. When the map does light up with cars, bikes, trucks ect I feel 30-40 gives a perfect balance of seeing other players but not all over the place. If I meet someone in every town it looses the apocalypse feel, how many people survived anyway? If 100 in a size of land like Chernarus, globally? That's not an apocalypse....just a planet wide riot :) Still bring it on....might drive the cost of a lower slot server down :D

 The point is that back then people didn't see it as such a negative that the game perfomed like crap on most machines. It was pushing the limits and was the benchmark for a good gaming rig. But with dayz it seems people mainly just want to bash at how badly it runs dispite the fact it, in many ways, is pushing the limits. I do think it has already taken the "Can it run Crysis?" thing though....these days is "But.....Can it run Dayz?" :) Well that's what I got from it anyways

We need a better indicator on how cold we are
Karmaterror replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I always have disliked the status messages, but at the same time I don't want a GUI like the mod had. Shaking is a good way, maybe one or 2 cold animations could start to play aswell. Suppose the argument for more in depth status messages could be made, like say Im cooling off Im cold I cant feel my fingers (at which point maybe there is a rndom delay when you try to pull the trigger on a gun) I cant feel my hands (pretty much means "Make fire now!" and when you do it takes a lot longer) But like I said I don't like the messages already, if I have to have my eyes glued to statuses all the time how is it that different from a GUI. Much better to go immersive and have an effect on our toon to indicate whats wrong aswell as sounds and animations for more clues :) -
So true....Arma 3 karts....who saw that coming lol

Da' great moments ... of organized group play
Karmaterror replied to GodOfGrain's topic in General Discussion
Its a small rise on the opposite side of the strip to where you were positioned, its just big enough for LOS on the barrack and all the buildings. Heres some shots, still there in the SA as far as im aware :) -
Da' great moments ... of organized group play
Karmaterror replied to GodOfGrain's topic in General Discussion
That's a cool net at NWA...only prob, you got no one on the hill outside the wall!! What were u thinking...that hill has LOS on nearly every one of your positions except the ones on the east side. Cycling loot could be dangerous if we had been on that hill (one of our fave spots).... Anyways a story...of group play...I call this one "A Million Ways To Die In The West" 4 person group at NWA, we have a bus, offroad and a car. The bus being slowest takes the lead, the car 2nd and the offroad (me) 3rd. Our guy in the car is getting right up the busses arse beeping. The guy in the bus decides he needs to check his map... The car hits the back of the bus....this knocks out the driver of the car and starts the bus engine smoking. I reverse and run up to see whats happening. As I get there the bus driver gets out to see whats going on and just as he does BOOM! The bus goes up and the car engine starts to smoke. Nothing I can do for the unconscious in the car so I drag the now unconscious bus driver out of range and bandage. As I finish the car driver comes too and gets out....BOOM! the car goes up. I move in to drag him away but as I get hold of him the secondary explosion from the bus knocks me out aswell. The now conscious bus driver drags me to safety and we get healed up. The car driver gets killed by the secondary explosion off the car as im being dragged. Net result...bus and car gone (including near full inv of weps and ammo). We drive off in the offroad to grab our fallen friend from the coast feeling slightly disappointed but very amused :) -
how about the servers with 8 times more loot?
Karmaterror replied to kakysas666's topic in General Discussion
Rumbled lol :D -
OK, OK....booooo....no one can get behind the guy who made Chernarus making us an epic snow map....bunch of lamers :P Survival mechanics specific to that environment A brand new map we never seen before Cloths, vehicles, weapons to suit the region New Animals to suit the region Game lifespan.... the additions to chernarus are awesome, but soon enough you will have visited every town and city. It wont feel so fresh 12 months after release. So say they give it 18-24 months after then hit us with all of the above :D Maybe im just thinking waaaaay too far ahead lol :)

Player Temperature when Inside a Vehicle
Karmaterror replied to [email protected]'s topic in Suggestions
Yep im sure they mentioned this a while back. All for it, maybe even tie it into window condition....if they all broken u actually start getting colder faster due to wind chill. Then the more you fix the better it heats you :) -
Its Rockets map though....does that count as "community", meh *shrugs* :) I wouldn't push for a solely community made map like the 3 I mentioned in the OP. I thought with this being a blank canvass so to speak they could create something of studio quality with it and give us a brilliant map. It could also come with a host of new mechanics, weapons, vehicles designed just for that landscape. It would be a sizable DLC not just a brushed up community map :)

The way I see it is I want immersion so I leave it pitch. Pitch is about right for an overcast night in the sticks here in the UK. The guys out looking for PvP want to be able to spot me easy so let them....what they forget is that the muzzle flash shows 10x brighter on my screen :D Oh and this...

Put in Helicopters, Humvee's with grenade launchers, and mounted machine guns
Karmaterror replied to over9000nukez's topic in Suggestions
The fresy with the mosin in the treeline is in a much stronger position than the 4 fully geared in the car ;) Cars are deathtraps in the mod, always have been. Same goes for helis.....I once hit the engine of the huey with a m107 round....1 shot....7 death messages as it hit the ground :D -

Karmaterror replied to over9000nukez's topic in Suggestions
This makes me think you have a completely different vision of dayz than I do lol. I never ever see you moving up to assault a base, needing the cover of a tank. From my experience in the mod people don't tend to sit at there bases watching them, the base is more of a stash site, the rest of the time they will be out looting things to put there. Who knows maybe that will change with barricading. I see engagements more along the lines of infantry skirmishes, or ambushes of unarmed vehicles. Having them unarmed makes them a great logistical tool, but a huge risk of getting shot due to noise, viability ect. Arming up small vehicles shrinks the risk factor a lot. This can be done regardless of armed vehicles, just whatever the top tier weapns are would encite the same "warlord" ish reputation. But that's is something you can have very easily on something like Arma2 or Arma 3. I wouldn't be apposed to maybe one machine gun humviee....or maybe a 2xPK Vodnik for immersion reasons. But abundance of that type of vehicle is better left for other games I think. If im hearing massive battles going on between tanks, and groups of 20 or more people I really am not playing Dayz anymore, im in Battlefield....with human needs :) The only way I see a tank getting in is maybe a wreck with a functional MG on the NWA or something. Everyone would always check it on approach, but a quick flank to it mid firefight could change the tide. Or even make 3 or 4 randomly spawn on the roads for bandits to build roadblocks/ambushes around. -
mayke steam frend in game and return in same server idea
Karmaterror replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in Suggestions
Dunno if this is what you mean but your friend could join a server, then if you go to your friends list and right click them then hit join game you will go to the same server. You can do that all ingame with the overlay. -
Thanks for the replies, this map is defo unfinished, it seems it may have been abandoned for Rocket to work on dayz, if so im glad he did. I just hope it gets revived and finished as a Dayz DLC. The towns, the layout all of it would be new to us, not even seen in A2. Some of the images on armaholic make me think of a climbing system to get to some of those snowy ledges :)

Did ya check out the link, this one is very similar to Namalsk. I loved Namalsk for the new challenges, but for exploration it was too small. This one is a lot bigger I think, Maybe not in border size but with just one coastline (space for 2 Cherno sized Cities) there is a lot more landmass to explore :)

Im all for seasonal stuff being added to loot tabes at the right time of year. Iv suggested pumpkins before for Halloween, and trees we can cut down and drag to camp at Christmas....even decortate them with anything we want...mags....empty tin cans...a real survival Christmas tree lol Beans for you I really think this should happen. From another view if players that have put down the game for a while hear theres some limited time loot avalible, it may help to keep the game alive years down the line.

Id love if we could have a gesture system akin to the SA. It wouldn't have to have everything just maybe a wave, point and surrender. A2 already has the surrender animation, so would it be possible to have it either keybound or on context menu if the point and wave animations existed?
-
haha...see ya in couple hours then *fires up editor* Il check em out and see what I can find, but can community made animations be used in dayz? Like this sort of thing....but if someone made point and wave..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C258IrOjaGQ&feature=player_embedded

Taviana-Anywhere to make a good base?
Karmaterror replied to DayzFanatic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I always find it hard to conceal a camp on Tav. The forest just isn't as thick as Chernarus so it can be hard, also I didn't see much "dirt" texture beneath the trees so makes it easy for helis to spot tents. However I did find a reasonably thick, "dirt" floor textured forest, if im remembering properly it was to the east of the southern end of the bridge :) -
Any Vanilla DayZ Servers Left?
Karmaterror replied to Daz3kPvP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dunno if anyone has mentioned "dead man waking" servers. I been enjoying my time there past few days, I saw 2 servers by them, one is a pvp with self bloodbag.....DOH!....BUT.... the other is 100% vanilla. Wouldn't say its high pop, but enough, was 11 on my first night then about 4 or 5 all logged in together while I was playing so I recon 20 odd, and that there are some groups there. Though I haven't found any of there camps yet hehe. Try it out if ya lookin for true vanilla :) -
All of this, think its hard to punch that one zed....wait till your initial shot pulls 4-6, then you keep agroing them as they respawn cos you are still shooting the last of that wave. Melee is the way forward for dealing with zombies. As a fresh spawn try looking more at industrial type sights for melee weps. Most players will dart strait for a gun spawn, so a lot of the other buildings are untouched. Basically try to be different, don't do exactly what everyone else does or yep, you wont find much when ya get there. PS, what happened to loot respawn??
-
Is there a way to destroy tents get....thinking grenades? Wait for the day you log on and some yolo crew blew the tents up then waited on a hill with LOS to end you on login. I like it though, maybe its finally viable to avoid all loot spawns and just camp hunt again :)

Increase walking/running speed while on incline
Karmaterror replied to LazlowRave's topic in Suggestions
Maybe a "scramble" animation would be cool, the speed would still have to go up slightly to make it look right, but it would givea visual explination for why your speed dropped. On the less steep ones id say jog only (some of these not so steep ones still slow us atm). So if you were scrabling, that's it, that's the fastest you would go, but if it just slows you to a jog, you should be able to push for a sprint at the cost of hydration. For the breaking your ankle thing, I feel that would be very reasonable going down steep hills. Maybe allow us to sprint, but some sort of randomised chance to fall and break your leg on a very steep decent , chance increased if its raining (eg slippy) :) No skyrim horse physics though for sure lol :) -
Yep grenades should work aswell, maybe that's the only other way to get through a "re enforced steel door" or whatever. Maybe should take a few aswell, maybe 3-4, with the door looking more damaged each time. Stashes are the way forward, since they were in the mod im pretty much 100% they will end up n SA. I used to use a little tactic of placing a tent, then leaving my mid tier gear in it....ak's, mags, food/drink. But then id build some stashes within few hundred meters in different directions. That's where I kept the good stuff like sniper ammo,NVG's ect. Even on the days when I logged in and found the tent raided....they never found those stashes :D
