    While I don't think there should be a singleplayer (as its incredibly dull), I would argue why not? Dayz is a sandbox game Paraphrasing rocket...."We don't want to force people to play a certain way"......"Multiplayer only!" I do see it working well for new players to gain some survival experience vs environment/zombies, then taking that to there pvp sessions. But in a way that takes some of the greatest moments away from the game. The learning curve should be done under pressure, under threat at all times....baptism by fire....bandit sniper fire :) As a seasoned player I would jump into a singleplayer mode as long as the environment effects and zombie counts could be tweaked. On that note maybe they could use the old mod method of spawning zeds in an SP mode....think about it, it wouldn't be an issue of knowing someone was there....no zombies would spawn besides where u are......they could have 1000 per city dead rising style. I still hold out hope for a very basic (maybe in depth if devs in good mood) editor at some point. Just to create simple scenarios with zombies like placeable spawn points for them, the players and spawn time/numbers values :)

    DayZ + Spintires?

    Even if they just looked at this for inspiration it would be awesome....not sure how hard it would be to get the terrain to behave like that in this engine....im guessing HARD lol. But even just something similar, much more basic ability to get bogged down offroad and such....anything to make vehicles more realistic im all for! Race 07! pffft..... dig out GTR2 and do some real racing :D

    Lock server on start for 1-2 minutes

    Not 100% sure on this, but I don't think the server starts all its processes/functions until at least 1 player joins. Was like that in the mod, the 1st player in let it load and hit ready....then the mission started...all players after that didn't have to go through the ready up screen. It may work sort of the same way in SA except that screen has been removed....maybe even the reason for the char resets if its putting the toon in before all the server side stuff is active :)

    bleeding with more lasting impact

    I like this, maybe a suture kit to use to almost completely stop bleeding on more serious wounds aswell. If the suture kit took a lot longer to use than a bandage, the bandage would be the goto for in a combat situation, then later in the woods stitch it up+ fresh bandage and bleeding would stop within 30mins or so :)

    Spawn hubs

    I say no to this just because, having another set of eyes with you is the biggest advantage in dayz. Now with a system like this your 20-30 man group could spawn in and be just a few hundred metres away from each other...all hooked up in under 10 mins. Then you loose a few in a battle....no probs il just spawn within a few hundered meters again and wel regroup. Its sort of overpowered, especially when 30 of you is 75% of the server pop. The running and meeting up is a huge part of dayz gameplay. The tension of wether it will work.....the feeling vunerable while you are alone. But to be honest my group (around 8 if we are all on) have long given up rolling together. We split up, do our own things then if one of us comes under fire we call out for help. All our guys converge from different directions (wherever they were an the map) and we have never had a +20min response time. Basically I don't see the run to meet people as a bad thing....it slows the speed at which you get something better than top tier gear. And its not that bad atall, 20 mins max to meet up even if one was in one corner and other in opposite corner. Work on getting better that a "5min lifespan" and youl be doing fine. When you survive for days/weeks/months, that little 30mins-1hour spell at the beginning is no big deal :)

Those whowant immersion can join a server with it disabled, and those who don't care join a server with it on.....simples :) Refinement.....Still based on a server setting....lets call it "GlobalRadio" GlobalRadio1 = Anyone with a walkie has access to a global style channel for txt only chat....voice coms restricted by range GlobalRadio0 = Walkie coms voice and txt restricted by range

    Kamenka spawn pretty please.

    I loved that spawn aswell but it wouldn't work now. Think about it this way in the mad you could hit every town on the way to NWA....that was the first mill spawn. Now in SA its.... Mill base just north of Kamenke....2 Baracks Zelen.....2 barracks + jail And that's before you are even halfway to NWA lol IMO get rid of all what I listed, Have only baracks on map at NWA again, then reinstate full costal spawns. Give us back the dynamic of pushing to the NW corner from any costal spawn, Also keep medical stuff on the coast to give us a reason to head south again....then north for ammo....then south for meds....then...you get the idea. It worked so well il never understand why they messed with that flow :(

    I agree that more unique identification would help this a lot. But I would argue that impersonation was just as easily possible in the mod. It was often seen through in ways like how the person speaks/type, there inflections and/or vocab. Another classic example was bandit groups changing there names each night. Sometimes it worked, but a lot of the time it was pretty transparent when a perfectly sized group logged in, at around the right time. The more I think about it, and even from an immersion point of view, impersonation could have its place in dayz :)

    I really like this idea, maybe if instead of spawning fruit/veg just in houses, they spawned it in greenhouses or little window gardens. Then we could have to go to a city to find the seeds we need for our farm up north. It could be kinda like the old mod dynamic of having to return to the coast if you wanted medical supplies :)

    Yes! And not even for screenshots....they bug the hell outa me. To me they are 10x more intrusive than the old mod GUI...not that I want that back, really I don't want anything on my screen while playing. Besides....we have pretty much everything on the inv tab :)

    About base building and base raping.

    The answer to this is same as it was in the mod for me.... If you want a server to build a camp on, go private hive. The people jumping in and out of servers, anywhere on the map makes it totally useless on the pub hive. If you don't care about camping and just wanna run round shooting stuff for a bit....go pub hive. The painfull truth is that, while its a great concept....the hive itself is immersion breaking :(

    We don't need a hero/bandit system, for a few reasons... 1, It would be exploitable. Clans could travel to the safe zones, trade with eachother, earn hero status....then go out and act like bandit scum lol Look to the mod for president. 2, You can build a reputation on a private server as a trader, medic, hunter....whatever you want. If you always log back in with same name people will get to know and trust you. That's more realistic and immersive for me than earning a hero status that makes me easily identifiable as a good guy. Safe zones just goes against everything dayz....IMO. From the moment you log in till the moment you log out you should feel tension. Besides I could see a lot of happy campers around these safe zones. Trading is one of those great moment for tension, will they try to backstab? will someone see us and try something, and new for the SA....was someone listening to the frequency we arranged this meet on? Making a safe method of trading would take all that away. More Zombies....HELL YES. Devs have said that they want and plan for that. Im guessing we wont see much movement on that until they decide they have all the core features in. Then as they optimise and refine we should see those numbers start to rise. If you search around there are a lot of threads discussing many of these ideas. Some I think even got dev responses explaining the thinking behind leaving certain stuff out :)

    My 2 cents....the kill logs are worthless. All you could do is see who killed you...that doesn't give any evidence whatsoever on weather they were hacking or not. It just proves they killed you. Like others have said butthurt clan members would just kick the last guy to kill them and justify it with "must have been a hacker" On the mod nearly every player screams hacker at some point. The private hive I used to help out with had more than enough of this. However 99% of the time the accusation was false. After checking the logs it was clear there were no hacks involved, much humble pie munching :) So whitelists are a built in feature of private shards for SA? If so that's brilliant....kudos devs :)

    I would have loved to set up a private shard, but at those prices no way. Is that the plan for the game as it moves past beta and into full release aswell, or will the server files have to be released at some point for modding purposes....opening up the option to host ourselfs?

    So ya mean just like IRL using you map means you have to have a limited ability in other areas. All this from someone who screamed immersion and realism over the 3pp debate... Lets take a look at your post a couple back because it illustrates the type of player you are... 1. You can have that 2. Irrelivent to this game.....when they are making bj sim 2016 then that applies. We want immersion on the things that apply to this game...orienteering is a big part of a survival skill set.....receiving head is not. Nice try on the deflect. 3. This is you in a nutshell.....don't want put myself in danger....I find it funny that you used realism and immersion to back your 3pp stance...then have a second monitor open with a 3rd party map...LOL. This exposes a pretty carebear attitude IMO 4. So you flipped to the back of the book and got the answers (3rd party map), now you don't need to read the book (in game map)....the phrase "hollow achievement" pops to mind :P You make stupid arguments then make the opposite argument in another thread.....quite ammusing

    Damn if people rely on 3rd party maps so much then they need some orientation lessons. The igame map as it it can... Give you accurate distance to target when sniping Can give you accurate distance to target when traveling Can tell you exactly where you are (using town names or terrain formations) 3rd party maps are for the lazy who don't give a crap about immersion. Man up punks and survive with the tools provided....not the paint by numbers child versions online...pff...this makes me wish they would randomise the map somehow each week making online maps useless

    This guy was no bandit....and no koser. KoSers have the balls to open up from distance and risk starting an actuall firefight. Bandits will get creative....handcuffs and bleached fruit or something. This guy.....this guy falls under Coward...plain and simple. Had to wait for the 0 risk moment and act. Im sure this is why a lot play the game. They like the idea that they don't need skill, just to bump into the right type of player and boom...easy kill....kinda like the combat log system :)

    Camp hunting happened a LOT in the mod. It was the best way to get a heli....why check spawns on a 20+ pop server when its bound to be gone. Its not silly to follow logic and check the viable landing sites in the wilderness. Same for cars, check the wilderness. I can only guess you didn't play much of the mod, if vehicles were abundant clans would repair....drive to wilderness....shoot out tyres....and use it for storage. In the SA they may also be able to spray it green. Wether they are abundant or not within a few days f a server going up you will have much more luck in the woods than in the cities. When you amp hunt you do have specific ares in mind....that clearing is big enough to land in....theres thick trees to hide vehicles there and there...ect cct....its an art not a lottery :) Its not silly for clans to hide there cars in the woods..... Its not silly for a lone wolf to instead of spending a couple of hours looting for parts.....in a place he could be shot...to spend that time checking likely camp sites for a fully repaired vehicle. The risk is much lower and the reward much greater....simple logic ;) Guess wel have to agree to disagree on this one....and wait and see how the devs decide to do it :)

    Sniping for the Layman

    This is a pretty good guide. Only thing I disagree with is that hiding in the cranes is a good idea. Because they are man made you stick out in the ghillie whenever you move say...past a window...or take a peek over something. Personally id feel so much more exposed up there than in a tree somewhere. Theres a lot to be said for concealment over cover :)

    Rookie needs help!

    This^ Arma 2 is packed with tutorials that pretty much all apply to the mod (barring command and squad training ect). Infantry training is a must IMO, and maybe do the heli training aswell...just incase ya run into one on ya travels :) PS,Editor is your friend aswell. Drop in a huey....heli practice. Drop in a car and some barricades....driving practice. Some enemies and objects....Shooting and inventory practice :)

    Well no car even these days charges via solar power.....they need a lot more energy and have to be plugged into a power source. Then you are back to fuelling a genny to provide electricity for the car. It wont be a clan only item....once they fix it it is ready to go on the map somewhere. So its not about it being hard to fix its about tactics. A lone wolf is much better camp hunting to find that clan camp with 8 cars and both bikes....all fixed and ready to use. Clans would be much more effective hunting the spawns. Making it easy to fix it helps solo player, from a fixing a car found at a spawn point of view ....but also helps the clans to amass stupid sized fleets of cars. In the mod one group could have every single car avalible.....but that's never set in stone....alls it takes is one lucky person to stumble across there camp and its all gone....and that one lucky player can cherry pick. This leads to clan wars over the vehicles, something that would be a none issue with an abundance of cars....it destroys the value of having one. As for fuel, im ok with fuelling stations not running out. Its a gameplay thing, theres always a risk in stopping to fuel up....bandits can camp the stations easily. Fuelling a heli alone was the worst...ya looking at 20-30 mins with 3 20L jerrys. So you broadcast to everyone within 1000m that you are heading for fuel, then have to be exposed running back and forth with the cans. The only tweak I think they need with fuel is to make aviation fuelnly at airfields...upping the risk of operating a heli. Then just have the normal gas stations do car fuel :)

    Mod Rocks....id say buy it. Pros for mod Vehicles Decent zombie numbers Most things work well Tonnes of other maps to keep you entertained when bored of Chernarus Cons Much more open to hacking (can be stpped by joining a whitelist server) Mods of mods of mods....be sure to find a true vanilla server if you want something like the SA Glitches that will probs never go away....NEVER DRIVE AN ATV OVER ANY BRIDGE LOL I still go to the mod atm, SA just isn't a ZOMBIE game yet. The survival elements already surpass the mods system....but the mods system still works well. Id recommend vanilla dayz, the other mods seem too over the top. The vehicles are a big selling point, fully repairable with a range of parts that can also be individually damaged. One other thing to remember is that although you would be buying for dayz.....Arma 2 is one hell of a game. The editor will let you create pretty much anything you can dream up. Road race from cherno to NWA with ya friends....no probs. Meatgrinder 200 vs 200 in Eloctro with tanks and jets.....you got it. I think BI realised the potential of the editor with what was done during the A2 years, hence why A3 promotes things other than mill missions. To sum up, a big thumbs up for the mod even though SA is catching up quick, and in some places already overtaking :D
