As im sure the rest of you have, iv been browsing round the games during the sales trying to find something good. I like to read the reviews, normally more than just the first page to try and get as many points of view on the game as poss. While I was reading the reviews for some sort of airship game I stumbled on this one (very racist) review that I wont repeat word for word. But the gist of it was the guy gave his ship an EXTREEMLY racist name. He seemed a bit pissed off that he had actually received a one week ban from the game for doing so. I on the other hand was very happy to hear that. It made me think, here on the forums people can be given temporary bans for insulting others, beng racist ect. Now wouldn't it be nice if the people that use racist chat ingame could receive these type of week long bans form dayz. Some sort of system to monitor global chat for overly racist/offensive terms could issue a 3 strikes then week ban. Now I do understand a lot of this is the server owners responsability, and they should police there community as they see fit. But that dosent mean that the devs cant try do do something about it aswell. Could you guys get behind some sort of filter that could ban on the use of racist terms. Or do you think its our responsibility to respond to that sort of issue?

I wish you would all stop belittling it.....it is not a joke, Its not funny. It may not effect YOU.....but there sure as hell are people out there it DOES EFFECT. Belittling it is something to be ashamed of, and an insult to those who actually have to deal with it. You know what.....I can only assume MOST you guys have never had to console a loved one or friend who has been the victim of racist remarks. Some of the horse shit....."They should take resposability for themselves".....fuck off! They don't know its going to happen....it just does....by the time they log the damage is done......real damage. But hey fuck them right....who cares what pain it can cause, they should all grow thicker skin. As long as it dosent bother YOU fuck the rest who it does.....Because stopping people saying N****r or C**n would so drastically change your gameplay, and infringe so badly on your freedoms......BULL....SHIT! Step into a grown up world for 1 second....where we make concessions like this to ensure the majority of people are not caused discomfort or pain. Yes im getting angry now as this does strike a nerve for me from personal experience, and I wanted to show a certain someone that most aren't like that and would jump at the chance to be rid of it....guess I was wrong.

And I will be kicking and banning for racism....no warnings. What about all the other servers though, I cant do anything there. Im not lazy and im not thin skinned. But iv had people come to me in tears on steam because of racism(most recently in dayz)......that's the real world effects it can cause.....and that's mild compared to what you can read about online due to racism in games.

For me they have to persist. Long term survival is my goal when playing and vehicles help towards that with transport and storage. If I loose it on a restart I would rapidly stop using them for the effort/reward ratio. I don't really mind hoarders keeping it all somewhere asthey can save mea lot of work as a lone wolf. Instead of ferrying parts (hat I cant carry all of) back and forth id much rather head off into the woods and start camp hunting for a fully fixed car, maybe even some tents to load it up from. Then if im feeling mean destroy the rest (usually don't do that hehe). Also its much better to find a tent with a pick of weps and ammo than have to loot it all yourself. So even for us lone wolfs hording can be a plus. The pushbike.....meh I want it persistent....but for completely selfish reasons. Its my fave form of transport in the mod. Quiet, good offroad, no refuelling and by far the best to hide. You could hide a bike in a tree by cherno and it would still be there after a good looting session on a high pop....try that with a truck and see if its still there lol

Another sidestep lol The only one that sorta answers the Q is "limits player interaction"...remember the Q was...."What would you LOOSE from the dayz experience?" not "is it hard to do" or "why not".....simply...."what would you loose"....if you don't type racism....then nothing is the answer. Seriously, the only way its going to limit people is if they go around hurling racial insults. If you don't do that you would have NOTHING to worry about. You could still do EVERYTHING you currently can in game. So whats the big deal in making I dunno 20 or so words in each language off limits? Why is that so bad for the game? Someone always has to take the first step....and say no to it. OK so time consuming and expensive are good points for doing voice....but txt would be much simpler. At least that's a start. But as I mentioned before....they have a place to go and put where your guy is, what server, and they will unstick him.....that's gotta be hellish on time and expense. So when that's no longer needed (eg full release), why not divert those resourses into something like this? Damit im back in again....I need to do a reply with no questions lol

Yes lets stop fighting hacking aswell....because ya know...it will be worked around like everything else. And since I asked it you have expertly side stepped it like a political guru....because the answer we all know is nothing....you would loose nothing. But it could help people who may be less thick skinned than you. Yes they are different games but both keep a record of chat ......they are at least the same in that respect. I never tried to directly compare them as games. Im not talking about bad language....the game is 18+....swear all you want. Just don't use racial insults, you could say shit or fuck or damn it, but not N.....or C... or a plethora of OBVIOUSLY racist words. Like I said to the other guy there are ethical lines the devs have drawn ethical lines in the sand....features wont be included because of that. If they can make a system to stop us combat logging and that be supported. But a racism ban system be met with resistence is a sad day in my opinion. This is what the world is coming too....people more interested in a virtual avatar than how some words spoken can effect others IRL.....genuinely makes me sick. Anyways I leave this issue for debate, iv said what I wanted to say and defended my reasons for thinking that way. I hope the devs at least think about this issue as development goes on

Racism isn't a freeking feature....it isn't "in the game" the game is just lacking preventative measures to stop it. You missed my point....the reason those features wont be put in is becauseit crosses some ethical line for the devs. That line should have racism on the same side as rape ect. Not on the OK side of the line. So not being able to be racist will QUOTE "cripple player conversations" to you....REALLY? That's the single biggest exaggeration iv ever seen.

Now this is a very good point....what to class as racist and what not to. Obviously its a highly personal thing and is different player to player. However im sure there are a damn good few words (that im not going to type) that people could universally class as racist remarks. That's where I feel they should make the start. The word "black" has is far too common to be considered a racial insult alone. But in a certain context yes it could be. That would be where the player decides weather its worth reporting it, or letting it go. If it was reported the devs could issue the ban/warning. I mean hell they got a place to report your server and where you are stuck and they will free you, they really should have time to deal with(by the sounds of this thread) what would be very few reports about it. That could also be the place to drop evidence of voice comms racism. But still....what do we LOOSE from our dayz experience if racism was filtered and punished??

Then lets add rape and sex and blowjobs......see.... it doesnt work that way. Anything dosent go....the devs have been clear on that....there are things that will not be added.....I feel there is a way to remove racism....I feel they should embrace it. You never answered the question....you just say it wont work.....my groups l4d2 server kicks for racism....it is possible and can work. Now...what would we LOOSE if you couldn't say racist words?

Im with noble savage on this one, getting to your friends IS the early gameplay of Dayz and should be a struggle. Although in experimental I see no probs with making V3S spawn everywhere for testing. It would be like exp is the place to get raw data on features, then stable is for balancing and achieving the corrct gameplay :)

All for this one.... "got morphine??" "Nah but there was a wheelchair in that house give me a sec" :) Maybe they could make broken legs take a lot longer to heal so a wheelchair would be usefull. Morphine could be the quick fix....then a splint that takes some time while you can only walk. During that time it heals quicker if you sit in a wheelchair and roll yourself around :) And like you said bandits can push people off cliffs or down hills ect.

I just cannot see the logic in.... This isn't prison simulator, and btw.....racial slurs in that environment are more likely to get you shanked than aid in survival.

Freedom of speech does not encompass racial slurs. Im not implying canabalism is ok but it has president in survival situations. What about that movie where the plane goes down and they eat some of the survivors. Based on true story if I remember right. Give me a survival situation where racial insults are key to survival..... All the stuff you mentioned is players improvising with the mechanics......if its poss why not include a suck dick animation.....because its a LINE not to be crossed. I feel the same way about racial insults....they area line not to be crossed,and if poss should be fought by the people creating the environment.

Well the devs do draw lines....you cant do ANYTHING to players.....being racist drops into the category of unacceptable to me (along with other things the devs have deemed unacceptable). So stooping racism isn't good game design....hmm struggling with that one. You can be mean as you like....whats the issue with just avoiding racism. Something that can have a profound effect on its victims. You misunderstand....I meant its there resposability to remove these players....IF THEY SEE FIT. By no means should you be held accountable for what someone else says and I never suggested that. What I trying to say is its up to you how you run your server, if you don't want racism then its up to you to weed it out. But I think the devs should take a more active role in combatting it. Not leaving server admins as the first, last and only line of defence. That's not maturity....that's ignorance...welI... IMO. It doesn't bother you sure.....there are many whom it does and would greatly benefit from an environment free of it. If it started up at your place of work and clearly effected another employee.....would you be so quick to say hell it dosent matter because I can take it....forget the guy who cant. This game has been for me for years now.....I will always play dayz (well until that day in the distant future when I eventually tire if it) but racisim isn't a feature....it adds nothing and should be fought at every turn. Not for you but for those who it effects.

Its some airship game on steam....guy names his ship something very racist, then was being racist in chat.... so they gave him a weeks ban. Now racist player names, words in chat ect is a good place to start, on some basic level, of combatting the problem. And NSA....come on....server chat logs to notepad....keyword search. Im sure someone could make an automated program to perform that job say each time a server is restarted or something. Then strikes/bans issued. I really just hate how people think its OK to spew racist garbage in game environments....where they wouldn't anywhere else in there day to day lifes. Why not send a message that "you know what.....just like everywhere else.....its not ok here either"

That's the kind of shit im on about! That needs some basic level of policing IMO How hard is it really for GSP's to screen welcome messages....share the load....they do server messages and devs do in game chat....just something that says "we do not condone racism and will do something to try and combat it in the public environment we provide"

Well this absurd and unrealist idea.....is already implemented in another game..... so its neither of those really ;)

Im not rubbed the wrong way, same as you I don't mind what happens on there servers. Was just my point of view on playing it that way :)
