What guns would you like to see in SA?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to WBK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe fill it with blood from a dead survivor, squirt someone with it and watch all the zombies charge towards the poor guy. Would be epic. -
Grab some tents, place the tents on the island. Pick up a fresh spawn in your Chopper, act all nice and say you will take him to your camp where he can get gear. Fly to the Island and land, tell him there is high end gear in the tents. Watch him jump out, fly off and enjoy the fireworks on side channel

When you say no loot do you mean NO loot or just no useful loot?

Nothing except for cans spawning?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Gking19's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's really not too hard to find survival gear. Spawn in, go the supermarkets and you can get a few cans of drink and food. Once you have a hatchet, matches and hunting knife you can hunt for yourself and there are a lot of animals around. -
Why don't people leave the coast?

It's for dem antibioticz -
All that most of us know is that will be out within 2 months (I believe that was said by Rocket). But if it's not ready, then it's not coming out. I trust they are working really hard on the game though, really hard. So credit to them. All we can do is wait. And it hasn't been a project that has been going on for a very long time. It is a game that has had under a year worked on it by Rocket and small team, it is remarkable that the release will be so quick. Some games take years to make, I know they had a start point but even so...

Hello! I'm new and a noob -

I can't really help you with downloading info. But I can help you with the game, here are a few tips. Find a well populated Vanilla server, what I mean by that is a server that has no artificial extras. There are a lot of Private Servers out there where you get starting gear, added loot and hundreds of vehicles. These do not give you the true DayZ experience, they are just easy mode servers where everything is given to you. But this game is all about your own journey with it, I would advise not to team up with someone who is experienced it will probably ruin the first experience for you. If you can find someone else who is completely new, get on Skype or TS3 with them and teamup. Learn together. It is what me and my friend did and it was awesome, we didn't have a clue but when you're dying and losing all your gear every 15 minutes you quickly learn what to do and what not to do. I can now survive for days of game time with little difficulty. The more you put into the game, the more you will get out from it. There is nothing like finding your first gun after hours of looking, with the immense sense of reward that comes with it and 5 minutes later 'Pop' you've been head shotted by a bandit you can't even see. You will feel so frustrated, you will probably close the game and feel like removing it from your computer. But you will be back on in the next hour giving it another chance. I don't want to give you too much help about the game because I feel it would ruin it for you. But I can tell you some things about the HUD. On the right hand side of your screen, around the middle right you will see an Ear and an Eye icon. Next to these will be bars coming out of them. This shows how loud and how visible you are to zombies, the more bars, the more visible. This is dependant on movement and the 'loudness' of what you are running on. If you are too visible or too loud you will get zombies chasing you. Try to make yourself as quiet as possible, don't run on roads, run on the grass next to them. Running is louder than crouching which is louder than proning, you will need to utilize all of these to get good survivability. Then you get in the bottom right hand corner an icon of a Thermometer, a bottle, a blood drop and food. Thermometer is temperature, but at the stage of the game you don't need to worry about it too much. The bottle is your thirst, as you spawn in it will be full and will slowly empty, when it is empty you need to drink otherwise you will start losing blood (health). The blood drop is your health, Infection, thirst, hunger and getting hit by zombies or shot will lower this. When the drop is empty, you die, when it is low you will fall unconscious at random times. Also you will get blurred and discoloured images. To get blood back you can eat preferably meat, and to a lesser extent canned food, or to get full blood back another player has to give you a blood transfusion, which requires a blood bag on the other player. This is only a mod though, there are a lot of bugs and general problems with it. However it is still very enjoyable, IMO. And remember trust nobody! -
Well the DayZ mod is mostly done client side, simply put, your client tells the server what is spawning. Therefore if you wanted an AS50, all you had to do was get your client to tell the server that you have an AS50 and there you go, an AS50. The SA game will be server side, the server will tell your client what is spawning. So if you want that AS50, you have to hack directly into the server itself to give you an AS50. Scripts you could download off the internet, simple as that. To hack into the server takes a highly skilled person who probably has better things to do with his time. EDIT: Does anyone know if duplicating items has been directly tackled for SA, that is a gamebreaker for me.

New Zombie-spawns, difficulty and groups
JoeM (DayZ) replied to EndEffeKt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well teaming up is always more fun, that should be a good enough reason to do it anyway. But I find that small groups are the best, groups of 2 to 4. Any more than 4 is a handful. Make sure you all try and get different weapons then you can use all ammo types. I think we tried to get one designated zombie killer and the rest of us were loaded out with more PvP gear (M14 AIM, M24) etc. The zombie killer had an AK-74. But infection is a real problem for groups, one of us gets infected, we find antibiotics and treat him. 10 minutes later another of us is infected. Groups do make PvP easier, and IMO that is still the most dangerous factor in the game. It means one of us can loot a supermarket while another watches over with a sniper rifle. IMO, Still worth grouping up. -
AK-74 seems like a very viable choice. Fairly low noise, decent for PvP and fairly common ammo.

Viral Zeds need to be easy to indentify.
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Muncywolverine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think they do look different. From what I've found their faces have a green tint to it and they have a large amount of blood splatter on their shirts. At least, that's how I've been identifying them. -
It took you 3 mags to kills someone???

How do I improve my situational awareness?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Blippy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As mentioned before don't use grass as cover. Once you get past a certain distance grass will not render in for people over that distance. Also I find that the graphics have some outstanding ability of making people 'shiny', people and zombies don't blend in well at all in this game. I don't know why, but everything sticks out like a sore thumb, if there is no fog I can see people at over 800m (even in trees) away without binoculars, just my eyes. -
Re-Discovered First Person View
JoeM (DayZ) replied to jubeidok's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Having 3rd person sucks from a PvP aspect. It makes pushing up on player's positions almost impossible as they could just be using 3rd person to look around corners without exposing themselves, then when they see you they lean out and pew pew pew, no chance for you. They were expecting you. I really hope SA will have first person only, more immersive and much better gameplay. -
If a zombie was real then I guess there could be anything of that sort.

Will SA alpha be in a worse state than the mod?
JoeM (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have watched a few videos, read a few articles and loads of people have been saying 'Do not buy SA Alpha when it is released unless you are prepared to play a very buggy game'. But I am thinking that I play the mod, surely nothing can be in a worse state than the mod. There are glitches left, right and center everything seems clunky and in fairness, quite bad. But I still enjoy the mod, very much so. So I am just wondering if SA Alpha will be in an even worse state than the mod? Is it likely to have game crashes every 2 minutes with loot falling from trees and splatting you on the head causing insta death? Will helicopters from an entirely different game somehow end up in the game or will we get Jedi Knights from someone playing a starwars game ending up in NWAF? Ok, so those last two were clearly taking the biscuit. But just how bad will the Alpha stage be? Anyone have any ideas? -

Thankyou, helpful answer. I know it will be buggy, just wanted to know how it would compare to the Mod. But I guess it makes sense that current problems should be fixed and new problems will be created. I just now wonder how bad these problems will be. -

JoeM (DayZ) replied to JoeM (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well I was thinking that because the game engine was getting an overhaul and lots of new features, like the looting feature has been built up again from scratch. Will we get more glitches than we get now? -
Rocket said the next few months. But I TBH I really don't know when we can expect it.
-
Seem like a waste of time to me, loot is too hard to find underneath the grass. And most of the time there is little loot.

Remove attack helis entirely, or put AMRs back in the game.
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agree It seems that everyone feels the need to pew pew everything that moves now. I was on a private hive in my armoured humvee and I drove past someone who started shooting me with a Makarov......... yes....... a Makarov. I would have driven straight past him but he started shooting me when he would have no chance of doing anything much to me. So I got out and shot him in the face with my M14, next thing I see down Side Channel 'OMG that's unfair you have better gear' then he said something about my Mother... Just let the Chopper pass you and stay hidden. Those Mi-17s are like whales at turning and it is actually pretty difficult to shoot straight out of them due to the non existent stabilisation. If it looks like it's landing don't draw attention to yourself, wait till the people get out and leave it undefended then sneak up on it and congrats on stealing a chopper.
