I also went on a Ghillie quest today. Spawned near Berenzino so first grabbed netting from some wrecked boats. Really easy to get I found 4 from one spot and 6 in another spot. Then the burlap hunt began. Found 2 in Berezino industrial section so thought 'Wow this is going to be easy'. Well no, it wasn't. Went to about 5 or 6 small towns on the east coast (Polana, Gorka, Dolina etc) and had very little success. In the end I found another sack in one of these small towns whilst going to 5-6. Got lost, did some more running. Ended back at Berezino (lol) but was on a different server as I'd had lunch in between, found another sack there. So far I have the hood and the bushrag and can't be bothered to get anymore. The ONLY places I found the sacks were industrial locations. Never in farms/residential for all it says it can spawn there.

I'd probably just go to the Winchester, have a pint, and wait for all of this to blow over :D

So I recently started to play DayZ again. Last time I seriously played was in the mod and had some awesome times there. We used to be a group of 14 active people on a server of about 50 people MAX so we made up a lot of the server. It was a private server so there were a few extra guns/vehicles (not everywhere like those stupid PvP servers). But there was the Huey, the little 2 man helicopter and the big russian transport helicopter (forgot the names). We were probably some of the WORST players you would ever meet but we had great fun while it happened. 2 enemy bandits shooting at 4 of our guys? No problem! Just fly in the helicopters and 10 other people and wipe the 2 enemies out - literally losing 10 out of the 14 people ourselves while we did it. Then picking up our dead guys and regearing. Such fun! Then SA came out and we all parted ways. But a few days ago I decided to play again on the SA. After 3-4 hours I found an orange, a banana, a fire extinguisher and a few old clothes. A long with 2 zombies. This was in a mix of Cherno and smaller villages further north. Where is everything????? (Tried multiple servers)

I think you are wrong in my opinion. In my view there are no overpowered guns in this game, overpowered guns would be powerful guns that everyone uses all the time. That is why you get OP guns in CoD/BF because you can respawn every time with the same gun therefore its 'power' will be exploited due to people using it over and over again, then it becomes overpowered. But when you have to turn the map upside down and inside out just to find one of these guns then it isn't really overpowered, just deserved. If a gun that was common was also very powerful then yes it would be overpowered in this game, the reasons why AS50s were deemed overpowered was because people would find one the duplicate it to the ends of the earth so they became as common as any other gun. But if in SA the AS50 or similar was re-introduced with a proper loot chance and no duplicating/hacking then I would have no problems, I would label it as a powerful gun that would be highly sought after. It would keep the game exciting because you would hear the definitive crack in the distance then you would look at your Lee Enfleld and think that it's time for an upgrade. After all, no matter what gun you have you are still just as vulnerable if the enemy has his wits about him. It wouldn't be overpowered, just powerful but still very beatable. I just don't want to see the most powerful gun in game to also be a fairly common gun because then there is little excitement in that.

Competition: Best DAYZ joke will be put onto a one-off hoodie and given to the winner
JoeM (DayZ) replied to DAYZ Store's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well whenever me and my friends step on to the NWAF I always say 'See you in Cherno guys' And everyone is talking about reloading their hatchet but they have missed out the 'My hatchet is out of ammo!' -
Risk vs Reward OP. I know you were panicked but if you managed to keep a level head you could have had all his gear, imagine it! You should have stayed hidden waiting for him to turn his back and start shooting or trying to loot the crash site. When he is doing so charge down to him and send a hatchet through his skull. Ok you got antibiotics, but you could have had all of his gear, and I imagine he would have almost full gear. Instead of this post you could have been writing one about how happy you were to be fully geared for the first time ever.

Worst sins of Dayz master list
JoeM (DayZ) replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Playing on a non vanilla server is a big sin! Having all those added buildings/loot/vehicles makes it no fun for me at least. But I guess people will do what they please. -
How we will have to change our play style due to the new Zeds.
JoeM (DayZ) replied to m.w. vindicator's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When you mention zombie hordes do you have any idea on how many there will be in the horde? I really hope it's something you have no hope of fighting unless you have around 5 people with LMGs. I want to see hundreds and hundreds flood over the hills and the only chance to get away is to run run run (unless you have a vehicle or sufficient fire power). They would attract so much attention though its untrue. But it will be awesome! Also like the idea of the 3 levels of alertness of zeds. -
Haha, I accidentally clicked 'Quote' on my post instead of edit. So I ended up just quoting the whole thing again.

I think you may have misunderstood the point of the game. I kind of agree with the first two points but I don't think there are lions in where it's set, maybe bears and wolves would be more fitting. About number 3 and the shoes. Yes your feet will adapt but it will take a long long time IRL and usually in game you will not survive that long, in that time it will be painful to run barefoot everywhere over all terrain. Go outside and do it now. You will not come home with hardened feet, you will come home with sores and cuts. About number 4. Why not wear a motorbike helmet? It will probably offer some protection against zombies if they hit your head. And a lot of the loot will not be ingame for you to use. You will be able to use it but there is little point for a lot of it. It is more of an immersion thing so you run into a house and it feels like someone actually lived there. Number 5, what you have proposed would kill the game. There should be no unlocks, unlocks make no sense.

Would be funny if it was more like the real guy :(

Do you hide bodies you come across?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Owain1122's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hide bodies that still have decent gear on them. Then when my victim runs back he can't get anything back. It also removes potentially high end gear from the game so not everyone is running around fully kitted up. If I have stripped the corpse fairly clean then I will purposely leave the body there for maximum trolling purposes. -
Infection is no problem at the moment. I have a fully kitted character, started all from scratch. I have an M249/DMR/Rangefinders and 5 boxes of antibiotics on me and 2 in a tent. I haven't been infected once this life. Just make sure you don't get hit by zombies, then it really isn't difficult.

I admit it, I prefer vanilla DayZ!
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are still some private hives that are completely vanilla i believe. -
Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
JoeM (DayZ) replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not really, all those people are in private hive server with starting gear hundreds of choppers etc. etc. etc. -
Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
JoeM (DayZ) replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game is supposed to be unfair, the hardcore gamers are supposed to have an advantage over casual gamers because they can put more time into it. Anyway I know plenty of casual DayZ gamers that get on just fine with it, any semi intelligent person can get around the bugs and inventory with some direction and common sense. It is supposed to be hard but if you play it right it isn't difficult at all. All it takes is some common sense. Common sense on loot - Well highly trafficked areas are going to have very little loot, isn't that obvious to anyone in a zombie game? Difficult zeds - Again it's a zombie game, you would be a fool if you anticipated that they would be easy. They now require a KoS approach or 100% sneak approach. Infection - Infection is actually fine if you play smart, don't let zombies hit you. Antibiotics can be found in a lot of places now I've found, found 2 boxes on one loot pile in a barn. Of course you will be lucky to get them from hospitals, they are highly trafficked areas. -
As long as the animations aren't clunky and look fairly realistic I will be happy.

SA: Scarcity of fuel and ammunition or cars and weapons?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Owain1122's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I want to see a lot more melee weapons. Knives/Bats/Clubs etc. I want to be pretty happy when I find a simple rifle (Lee Enfield) and I want to be ecstatic when I find a military grade weapon. I also want ammo to be a lot rarer than what it is. -
One Thing People Aren't Excited About in the Standalone
JoeM (DayZ) replied to JustThatEpic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not too excited about Utes. I never played the mod but from what I hear it is just some kind of PvP mess. I'm worried that it's PvP background will contaminate the game and turn the whole thing into PvP again. I hope it turns out to be a place for camps for high geared groups. -
I admit it, I prefer vanilla DayZ!
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vanilla DayZ is quite simply the best DayZ. I was horrified yesterday, on DayZ commander I noticed a server that described itself as a 'Learning server' where new players were meant to go to learn to survive. I joined it out of interest and I will say that there can not be a worse place to learn! First off it is described as PvE ONLY and if you got to a certain humanity you would get kicked for killing too many players and then I noticed what gear I spawned in with. M4 CCO SD, Makarov SD, Coyote BP, Food, Drink, All medicals, All tools and Rangefinders. I spawned at Balota and went to see if I could find anyone, but as soon as I reached the air strip I saw at least 15 helicopters I sat there thinking 'WTF is this?' sure if you enjoy that kind of stuff go for it but this is in no way a 'Learning server' for the real DayZ. Horrible experience, terrifying especially that people on this server clearly didn't have a clue how to play. Asking questions like 'How do I bandage myself?' or 'How do I eat food?' -
why isnt there more push bikes in dayz ?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think an increase in push bikes would be a little OP and would make the game too easy in the current state. Because they are, for some unknown reason able to travel at phenomenal speeds especially downhill (70 km/h+) when realistically a fairly untrained person should only be able to travel at 25 km/h tops. -

JoeM (DayZ) replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, this is what I think. Infection struck, some were infected and others managed not to get the infection. All the non-infected got in their cars and travelled to some imaginary Country north/west. They took most the cars, the only cars left are the damaged ones that could not be repaired in time. -
Don't know if this has been addressed, sorry if it has. How will loot cycles work? Will loot only spawn on server restart or will it be a similar system to what it is now? Same question with zombies.

Blood splatter on clothes to tell humanity?
JoeM (DayZ) replied to Buckit (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They should turn into pirates and be forced to use cutlasses! Also they should get a parrot on their shoulder that talks all the time!
