    improved hunger and thirst SA

I have trouble with your wording. How about restating your post in clear, paragraph form, and including these in your arguments: -what they're doing now -how what you suggest is different -the problems or otherwise inferiority of the other system based on: -how your suggestion is better -mechanics and basic suggestions Not necessarily in that order. Anyway, we (atleast I) don't want this whole complex system of equations and computations in DayZ. You can incorporate the same stuff you are talking about, but in simpler terms. Basically, it would involve each food type having an energy value. Player energy would then be an equation. The equation would be a simulated version of how much energy (glucose) can be used from that type of food(s) that has been eaten, involving multiple variables, some being how much water has been taken in (as you use water for digestion), and the energy levels of other foods, coming out to equal the total amount of energy the player has, in which case negative energy can occur. At that point you just set a value at which when the equation reaches (it would be negative) they player dies, due to starvation. You can then set the energy value to affect other things, such as running speed, ect ect. Now I've never made a game so there's a lot more going on than just this, but for what it's worth energy would not be to hard to code in, IN ITSELF. When you put everything else DayZ is into the game, it can get difficult, especially if the energy values of food change after certain conditions, or even the fact that the food would have to be able to support the value, and the game would have to be able to run it correctly, all taking extra coding. But that's how I imagine it will work. Simple computation of values affecting others.

How to pick up acu backpack off dead body???

You're trying to pick up the backpack without being in the gear menu. All options involving backpacks on dead players that you can see with the scroll wheel will take you to their backpack gear. You need to enter the dead player's gear, scroll down the items list of items they have, and the backpack should be near the bottom if I remember correctly, otherwise it's in the list, but I don't know where.
  3. Oh, wait, I didn't see the starting gear. If you want people to join, you need less starting gear. A regular backpack, maybe just a bandage and painkillers. Never give a player a weapon or means to navigate themselves. People play Namalsk for the hardcore aspect of it, and that's why the community is so avant-guarde. It'll be hard to find people to play, sure, but you just need to go around on the forums, post in topics and have your server info in your signature. If you can, start a quality server group for newbies and ect to get them introduced to Namalsk, It's great to have some special catch on the server, but don't make it more weapon spawns, or vehicle spawns, or whatever. It needs to be unique and fit in with Namalsk gameplay, and not change it. With that, good luck.

    DayZ Standalone - crosshair

It's just another file that takes up space on my hard-drive. I don't feel bad about saying that because it doesn't look like it took tons of time to code it in or make the design, and hopefully the dev team didn't and they wouldn't care if they removed it whether their own choice or from community pressure. We all kinda got the jist here, so let's not make this a discussion about CODKIDDIES (my god the word just sounds stupid) and keep the thread posts down until we can discuss it more when someone comes in and disagrees.

Are people seeing what I type?

Color is based on perception because theoretically, "color doesn't exist". Color is visible light that gets reflected off a surface, so we identify them as such. Basically, everyone is seeing the same color, but how we perceive it is different, in the much same way as chicken tastes the same to everyone with tastebuds, but some people just don't like the taste of chicken. Shades of blue and navy blue, or periwinkle, or navy blue compared to black, and such other things. Is it tan or is it vanilla colored? Is it gray or is it black? It all depends on how we perceive the color. "Colorblind" folks can't percieve color. They can see it, but they cannot identify the differences. It's like seeing a pencil and a pen and not knowing the difference, not being able to tell. So the channel colors are what they are, and there's no way to really prove what color they are, because you could be wrong, and you can't prove that it is that color, since it's all based on perception. You just have to give a general idea of what it is. At that point it's just communicating on what is most understandable to whomever is receiving the information.

    DayZ Standalone - crosshair

I think the crosshair is just too static. It doesn't move, at all, if I remember correctly. And in that way it's too big. I will disable it the moment the option is available.
  8. This is why I've always loved Namalsk guys. They really understand DayZ survival. :) I wasn't actually going to play DayZ till the standalone, but this may change my mind.
  9. There are so many servers that do this DayZ players don't even need help finding them. In fact, this isn't DayZ, even. You can get everything you'll ever need in 5 seconds, and then everyone just death-matches. It's not even DayZ. It's not even survival. It's like wasteland. It's like WarZ. I know, I should not even utter that name in these forums in other than the discussion thread, but it needs to be said here. It's a great server, why? Because normally, while you're scrounging around for supplies, you have everything and have the opportunity to kill everything which you normally wouldn't. But that's the thing. You got it on no skill. You get it from a modded server, not from hard work, and can replace it in 5 seconds. Come on now, if you're gonna make a special kind of DayZ server, make something that ENHANCES the gameplay, not CHANGES IT COMPLETELY. Otherwise branch off, and call this damn server something else besides DayZ. I'm sorry, but I'm tired of spending 3 hours trying to find a vanilla server for any map, ESPECIALLY Panthera, and especially one that doesn't get hacked every 2 days.... People like these servers because they can come on, blow stuff up easily and get off. They don't care about your server. They're just there for a "one-night stand" kind of deal and leave it in the dust when everything's blown to shit. It's something they can trash and go to a new one easily. THAT'S why. You want people who care about your server? Cater to the people who care about DayZ.

Are people seeing what I type?

It's green in the ArmA 3 Alpha. Most likely it was intended to be green, is just failzorz.
  11. person915

Are people seeing what I type?

Green? That's the most fucked up shade of green I've seen. If it said it was yellow-green, I might accept it, but it's a damn faded yellow, so...

I want some old school Dayz!!

Promoting degression of the game is not appreciated, sir. If you want this, you will have to host your own server. Because there's probably only dead servers that run this version now, so no one will even post to tell you because they're forgotten.
  13. Oh WOW! A wasteland server with zombies! Mr. Owl, how far can you get from actual DayZ in it's own playerbase? Hm, let's see. A-one, a-two, a-three... *crunch* That was my brain dying from disappointment. Please stop dividing our playerbase. I have no problem with people who want to play this way, but that's ALL THERE FUCKING IS ANYMORE.
  14. person915

Are people seeing what I type?

No, yellow is group chat. I'm almost certain you're typing on this channel because 1) It is the default channel when joining a server. 2) You did not switch channels for sake of not knowing how. Group chat is a dull yellow, and vehicle chat is more of a bright almost-orange. Dull blue is global chat, and near-cyan is side chat. White chat is direct chat. I think I got all the chat channels.
  15. Does it say in the Terms and Conditions that they need no proof to support the claim that you've "crossed the line" on one of their rules? If not, that's BS. "So... uh, we can ban you, if you do something wrong... in our eyes.... And we don't have to prove it... just have to say you did something wrong. And you'll have to buy another game, so... yeah." I would contact the server admins that you usually play with. My ex-friend got server-banned from Rape Dungeon for ESP hacks, when he didn't, and it was most likely because he had a generic name "Kevin" at the time, so it would be easy to mix up names. Actually, I'm fairly certain scripts show player IDs anyway, so they must have just screwed up the numbers. They probably reported it to BE or something.
  16. I see a problem that is apparant in DayZ, and is most likely to get worse. We can agree, wholly or somewhat, that Dean's first intentions of DayZ was in some part, whether large or small, as a social experiment. See how people would react, and live. Well, there's a problem here. Now, I for one support the idea that if you washed ashore a foreign country with no law, military, or anything in place, didn't know anyone, didn't remember your background, and didn't speak the language, you wouldn't give a hoot and probably would go shooting people gung-ho. BUT Everytime I play DayZ, I think, "OK, I can get matches, a hatchet, and a knife and escape to the woods and survive." But then what? The game just isn't INTERESTING at that point. There's no more challenge. You're away from zombies, and away from players. But the lack of engagement isn't the problem. It's the fact that it is what people would do in an apocalypse, but it's shit boring! When you play a game, you do it to have fun. In real life, you'd mill around the camp, watching perimeter and hunting when you needed, occupying yourself. That can't happen in DayZ. The need for engagement forces us into action, and we end up getting hurt or worse. It isn't like Project Zomboid where you're thankful to live a few days in peace, or can skip time ahead, where actually days only take less than an hour. And one of the biggest time-consumers in PZ, is building a home, but you can't do that in DayZ, and never fully will be, and here's why: Time doesn't stop. Of course, once PZ goes MP it will face this problem too, but think about it. If you had a home in DayZ, you would be there forever. Let's just say you logged out in it. Well, IRL, you'd be defending and living in that home. But you can't, because you've "logged out". Someone can come and take it, and you can't do anything about it. I'm still asking myself, "How do we make day-to-day surviving fun, and how (when we get to it) will we handle making player bases?" Right now, I don't see an answer, and it's putting me off of the standalone. It wouldn't be zombie survival, and I can see why Dean and Co. are taking a more MMO approach to it, because you act as an adventurer at that point, always seeking excitement; it's never enough to just survive. So discuss, community, and don't feel like you have to respond directly to me. I want to hear what other people think and come up with. I once heard from someone that if you have an opinion, and it can't stand up to everyone else's, then your point is invalid. So if you come in here and say that this isn't a problem and everything's fine and the small article I wrote is invalid and/or not enough for you, prepare to be challenged, because my point is valid, SO DISCUSS IT!

    How Do We Manage This?

"Slated for the end of this year" Statements like this don't matter. The same can be said for how people just ignored how we were using finite fossil fuels as major sources of energy with no plan to find an alternative solution. Still, even in the standalone, the forest will be boring, and surviving will be dredging, and camps won't matter, which is the main part of why I have a problem with the fact this happens.

    How Do We Manage This?

Zombies hitting you while running would not solve any of that problem -_-. The woods are still boring and your base is vacant when logged off, but zombies can hit you while running. See how this doesn't match up? I'd like that feature, but it just doesn't fit here. ------- Surveillance of a base is boring. Joining a clan: "OK, you need to guard the base for 1 & 1/2 hours while we go on an operation and have fun. There are no zombies around, and players aren't likely to come, but have fun!" "Bu-" *they all run off, but the newbie" "FFS, I'm not doing this." *newbie logs off* I mean, having a base set up in Elektro, it'd be fun, because you have encounters and danger is everywhere. But safeguarding a base just because and it being say really far north is just fucking boring. It's not like living. You're just staring at the ceiling. You know if you die, you can come back to the base and pick up whatever's left, then make a new one fairly easily. If someone was coming after the base, it'd be fun, but when you logged out, not so much. Also, joining a clan that big is just stupid. It's bound to have people that are "not of the best quality", will fuck up things for everyone, hard to establish relationships, is hard to manage and gets rid of the true aspect of organized teamwork, and to put those specific arguments completely aside (as in if you rebute on those I won't comment) there's the fact that a lot of people don't enjoy playing that way and organizing a group that big is ridiculous just to sustain one or a few bases in a video game, which are more valid arguments than opinions as were the others. What I'm saying is that in an apocalypse, every day is a struggle and you miss so much because time goes on without you in that world. You can't experience it all. Not to mention it makes the drolling things incredibly boring, and it ends up with a few blown up cars and some bullet holes in you, just because when you're playing the game you want a thrill. I believe making the survival miserable (meaning zombie hits are most likely to either infect you after just a scratch, or leave you virtually unscathed, food and water are scarce, ammo too, among other things such as weather effects and issues, bla bla bla) will help the fact that after so much time the game doesn't demand that much and you go off on a redneck adventure and get yourself killed. Unfortunately, it doesn't help that your camp can get raided even if you logged right next to it and there's nothing you can do about it, even if you could have taken out the unarmed player that came charging through the woods and randomly found the place.

    Usual cause of death: Bleeding

No, this is a completely normal and annoying occurance, not bad luck. For instance: I once had a character in which I did not get hit by one zombie for 50 minutes, then got hit once, and instantly started bleeding out, and didn't even get hit again after the first hit. The chances of bleeding on your first to fifth hit are indefinite, and just something you have to be prepared for.
  23. That's your problem, is dial-up or the 20mb download speed. I have a 5gb cable and I get a very decent connection
