    movement

This is SUCH a simple question. To walk whilst aiming/shooting: 1) Right-click This should aim your weapon down the sights 2) Double-tap or hold shift Depending on which you do will depend what you do on step three 3) If you are holding shift, just keep holding it down and move with your W,A,S,D keys like normal 3) If you double-tapped shift, do NOT hold shift and move like normal. Be aware you will have to double-tap shift again to be able to run again.

    No gun's in backpack.

*looks at coyote and czech backpack* I'm pretty sure I could fit some guns in there. But oh, what do I know? You should go to your nearest military surplus store, buy ALL the backpacks in DayZ, and try it with your whatevergunyouhappentohave. Post pics! :3
  3. Well that sucks. Didn't even read the OP. Have a nice life, I hope you can fill the amount of time you spent writing this with twice as much happiness, so, you know, it'll be worth a damn. You writing this, that is.

Looking for people to play with!

You better stop looking, and better start finding, because all looking will get you is YOU EYEBALLIN' ME BOY!? I woulda thought your mama would have taught you better than that! Now whaddya want before I pop out those goobers of yurs and feed 'em to the boars?
  5. I starred as "Big Mama" in a Chicago play back in '87. We had ourselves a good deal. We slept in the theater, ate mostly take-out and Chinese, but I didn't mind; I wasn't there for the food or comfortable beds. It was my dream. And there I was, living in it. Kinda made things weird when I woke up. My character was a good one; she was a 67 year-old woman who wanted to, after raising 3 kids and working two jobs in the shadow of a domineering and bum husband, wanted to go back to high school and get her GED, graduate college and get a job as a professional dealer in a Vegas Casino during the summers and as a scientist in Arizona all other times of they year. Her husband wouldn't let her. She killed him, eventually, and took her dream and finally got her GED and college diploma only to find out she had terminal cancer in her lymphoma, and had six weeks to live. She found this out while reading a science book for her new job in Arizona, and she then spent most days in bed until her final one came around. And once she was still alive, she went to the doctors and found it wasn't a tumor in her lymphoma, but a gerbil that had somehow nested itself within her. She called the gerbil Francis and took him home. Francis grew up to be the leader of a gang in Vegas, the little thing did. The old woman made her exit by getting hit by a street trolley while she was crossing the street to go into a Starbucks. The trolley was going under 15 miles per hour, but the driver was high and she was old, so my character died.... I wasn't the main role of the spectacular, but oh boy was I the star. Anyway, does that count as acting experience?

    Exodus

On this day, I took my followers and I led them to the promised land. I led them from coast through country, all the way to the peaceful north. This is our story. Let's get one thing straight first. I don't have any followers. Well, an exception as myself. If I didn't follow myself, I have no clue as to how I could accomplish anything. And I have... accomplished things, so it calls for the assumption that yes, I follow myself. Moving on. I find myself in a constant state of wanting something new. An experience, or something of a sort like it. So, being bored of the original DayZ map, but not knowing what else to play, I settle on challenging myself with something I've thought of doing for a while, but never actually got to doing it. Go north. It was that simple, in both idea and action, that I would first amass a sustainable amount of gear and loot, and escape to the woody wonderland of fairytales unknown. Just because I've never done it before. So I took the quest. And I would never have guessed what came after. We begin our tale -yes, I'm nice enough to share this story with you, so know it's ours- in the infamous city of Elektrovadosk. A coastal town, Elektro is known for 3 things. Not in any order, the first being its abundance of car parts. The second, shares number in firestations, one by a power plant, and the other near a church. Makes sense to have 2 in an industrial town. The third- PvP. Players. Killers. Looters. Sometimes in the form of a sniper, watching from the hill. The hills have eyes friends, and not once have I not doubted that. So I try to keep their gaze. Surprise them. Show spontaneality, so that they may be too interested in what comes next to try and end it all. But today, the hill has its eyes closed. ---- Whenver side-chat is enabled on a server, things always tend to happen differently. Me, being in one of the few vanilla servers left of DayZ, was surrounded by an abundance of inexperience of which I hadn't a clue. So when I saw people asking locations in Side Chat and there being an answer, there were answers I didn't like. Where are you? Elektro. - I just found like 3 tents in the store. - You should come. Deciding even before spawning, I knew that I was going to do whatever it took to survive. I was going to protect my property, and that's how it would work. I wouldn't pillage, no, but instead think carefully about the best course of action. And so thinking then, I knew it was going to be killing him. I made my way to the store, picking up this and that, here and there. Eventually, it came to the point where I used side chat to my advantage. I was trying to extract information, as I was pinned down on the firestation roof. I knew he had a hero skin. If that was true, I would kill anyone who didn't and give him atleast a chance if he did. I see someone run past. Not in a hero skin. But... once he'd gotten the zombies off, he'd said in chat it was him. Not important. My heart was pounding but it was over now. I had a double-barrel shotgun with a few mags and I intended to be a true and humble survivor. I wasn't out to be the CDF, or anything, so that's all I needed. ---- Earlier in town, I'd seen a motor bike. It was a very structured mission at that point. Find the man. Kill him. Find a toolbox. Repair the bike. GTFO!! ---- He had tried to run in the office building before I told him to get out, in which he kindly did and took to running, followed by the rest of the town behind him. Once he was out of sight, I relocated to the pub, putting myself on the second floor next to an inlet between the door and a dresser on the same wall, in the very back room at the end of the hall. I waited 30 minutes. I misread his inexperience as a deceiving bandit type. Walking out of the pub, I'm not soon to hear the pounding of feet, and see a man in civilian clothing running from zombies. Duck and cover! Those were the first words that came to mind. I didn't see a weapon, but he may of had one. It looked like he saw me. I knew he saw me. He was hiding in a bush. I couldn't get a shot, and my own problems were sneaking up behind me. I hear a growl and look to my side, seeing a zombie. They'd come up on me after I threw a smoke grenade at the fellow, in hopes to flush him out with the impending zombie threat. Still, they were there, and they were pressuring ME instead. Alleyways and tunnels are the best thing about Elektro, and I quickly lost them, then looped around so I could face the man that needed to be eliminated. I saw him, and he moved onto a wall with a zombie coming up behind him. Pellets already loaded, I aimed and took the shot, watching the blood splatter out of his torso. He was bleeding, being chased by a man with a shotgun and zombies not close behind. I ran after, and lined up another shot. The next one went sailing at his legs, and I heard a crack, followed by a squeal, which after a time he fell over, apparantly realizing his legs were broken. I continued running past, dropping my trail on the dying man and letting the zombies finish him off. I was sorry. But it was my defense. I left his body untouched out of respect. To this point I was wondering, because not soon after am I trapped up in a hospital shooting at broken glass with zombies on the other side, do I think about the hills. Are they watching now? Laughing? Either way, I picked up my arse and ran back to the bike. I got on it to see what was wrong. No fuel, and that was it. Having a fuel can in my backpack, I filled it up and got back on. The engine started up, and my heart started to race. But the bike was knocked over. I didn't account for that. It threw me off. Back to the hospital, sure the hills were laughing now. After the zombies were dead and the area around the bike was cleared, I went back to it, and turned the handlebars, turning the bike upright, and I revved the engine and gunned down the road, as my own little soundtrack in my head played whatever song I thought at the moment. And I laughed at the hills. Laughed and laughed and laughed. Until I busted a gut. ---- The next step was simple: go north. I knew what road to start on. I turned off the coastal highway onto the road leading to Pobeoda Dam, and took that for a while. I just kept driving, feeling the wind free on my face, smelling the fresh air lacking of salt, and enjoyed sweet victory. I was going to win. I knew I would. It's safe to say I didn't know exactly where I was headed, because I didn't but I just kept driving because I knew I'd get there. Through town I went, dodging the cars in the streets and zombies that spawned. I was losing myself in my thoughts when I see there on the side of the road: smoke. Not that thick black kind, but the other kind. It was a chopper crash. Was I even that northwest? Not caring, I looted the thing. I found an SVD camo. No mags, but I didn't care. It was an SVD camo! To be honest, the SVD camos turned out to be a joke. Just about every chopper crash I went to housed atleast 1 SVD camo, all with no mags. I cried. Then I found 1 mag. 1 mag. 1. Still. Chopper crashes were EVERYWHERE. It seemed there was atleast 1 between every town I went to. I had the same routine. Pull over my motorbike, sneak in, and run back to it like a maniac and peel out of there. It was a good plan. And you know, I was going to be a humble survivor with my double-barrel on my back, but things changed. And change is good. I enjoyed ramboing myself down to the core. ---- The next highlight of my adventure comes during the roaming of the chopper crashed. I found an M1014 and an M24 with 1 mag. The M24 was a favorite of mine and my gun sucked (the SVD camo was in the motorbike. Well, it actually got eaten by the motorbike) so I took it. Turning around to go back to the bike, I hear a rev of an engine. It wasn't like the ones I hear all the time. The ones where I have to think, "Is that a car IRL or in game? Is it a car at all? Am I even hearing a car?" I knew it was there, and it was coming straight for the chopper. An M24 with 1 mag, and a Ural just popped into view. There it went, on the road. It passed. Oh, wait, no, it stopped, and someone got out of the driver's seat. They were holding something in their hands. I couldn't tell what it was. The next thing that happened was the most sloppy and idiotic string of events that have ever occurred to me in ArmA during combat that I feel I'm lucky to be alive. Mistake number one: I assumed since the player got out of the driver's seat, he was the only one in the car, especially since he sprinted toward the crash, and there were noobs everywhere on the server. Well, he was the only one, but it's still wrong to assume. Mistake number two: I shot at him before he started looting. This is actually debatable, since I believe the reason he was running toward the crash is because he saw my motorbike parked next to it (which I thought was somewhere else, not there) and he thought I was looting. Dunno why he would think I wouldn't of heard the car. I shot at him. Once. Twice. Missed both times. He runs to the other end of the chopper, and I'm at the cockpit section. The Ural and Bike are at my right, and open field left. I try to locate him to take another shot. I wanted to pick up the m1014 on my left but I couldn't risk the time when I couldn't see. All of a sudden a flurry of bullets come my way. How did he move without me seeing? I look to my left and his friend in a ghille shoots me. I fall over, dead. ---- No, not dead. I passed out. And now mistake number 1 from them, the ghille runs toward me. I get up, and shoot at him. Grazes his shoulder. My leg is broken, but I stand up anyway, which saves my life. He comes up right next to me, and I use my last M24 shot to send a bullet into his heart from a range of 2cm. He falls over dead. I killed Sam. Sam was a good man. I talked to him a little bit in side chat, and we joked around some. And I just killed him. By dumb luck. Quickly, I bandaged myself. I had low, orange blood, and I used morphine to cure my broken legs. I knew I was still in combat, but I wanted to regain some blood, so I tried to access my meat in my bag before I did anything else. That's when he came. I saw him sprinting. My fingers mashed the keyboard, and I hit 2 other buttons before successfully getting out of the gear screen and starting to run. He was shouting in side chat at me about killing his friend. He was chasing me, running behind me with a hatchet. We ran around the chopper and I tried to pick up the M1014. I failed, and almost got hit as the hatchet went sailing past my head. We ran some more, until I decided to run for my vehicle. I thought it was on the other side, so I was going to run there, but instead I thought it'd be better to run toward his vehicle, and act as if I was going to steal it, so he would get in and leave. The hills were hysterical. It looked like something out of some messed up movie. A weary, blazened and beaten traveller of myself, being run after by someone who just pulled up in a car out of no where, and had his friend shot. "You killed my best friend, you bastard! Get back here! I run faster than you!" With a sniper in my arms and him getting a slow gain, I half-believed it. So I jumped in the Ural. After several attempts. We circled around the thing, until finally I got in the driver's seat. Down the road I went. But it wasn't over. He got on my motorbike, continually yelling, and chased me down the highway. --- I knew that he would chase me and he could keep up with me. I knew I couldn't make it past the roadblocks in town with a giant Ural. I knew that I was faster offroad, so I took that option. Over the fields I went, laughing all the way- HA HA HA. Chills run down my spine, I think I'm doing fine. He crashes my bike and I get away- HA HA HA. Or atleast I think so. He got off it and started running toward me, then realizing he could no longer do anything, ran toward some trees to lose some infected on his tail. I laughed with the hills. I could have stopped, gotten the gear out of the truck, and shot him. But I kept going. Thoughts of gear on the ghille friend and getting my bike back occurred to me. Even as the guy's death message popped up on the screen, I kept going. I didn't turn back. Because a man has to know when to fold. And so that's what I did. I looted more heli crashes. Found a DMR, and an M4A1. Most of the guns in the Ural were replaced by those to make room for bigger and better things. I now had an M4A1 with 23 mags, a DMR with 31, and an SVD camo with 24. I was doing alright. The Ural had a tent, so that was my next goal. I rode until I found a nice little crossroads that I couldn't think of anywhere else I had seen anything like it. So I got out, found a place, pitched the tent and hid the Ural a safe distance away from it after unloading some gear. I left it pointing toward the road. I left it pointing toward the road because I knew my journey didn't stop there. I had reached the north, the land that was promised to me. I led myself and I proved myself. I had an adventure and an experience. But life goes on. So now, I find myself on the hunt. I will hunt them. I will find them. I will kill them. I am the shark, with the shark's tooth, and it's razor sharp. This is my domain; watch where I lurk. Watch from the hills. And the hills will watch back. KEEP OUT.

    New Player, Desperately Need Help

DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM! You are at a stage when everything is new. Things at this stage can only be experience once, so take your time, and figure things out. Just know that your problems are common, and can be solved with experience. Remember how this time feels, and most of all, JUST KEEP PLAYING!

    Civilian Items, Weapons, and Bandages

Chernarussian are farmers, not many are hunters. The rest are workers. I would make cities have an abundance of pistols, some farms have shotguns, and some homes (that aren't farms) have rifles. I would also track loot displacement on military movement in effect of trying to stem the infection including guns, ammo, and equipment. The primary focus of weapons outside the city should be in hoes, scythes, machetes, pitchforks, and other forms of melee weapons. Slingshots, maybe? Things of that nature.

    Exodus

The motor cycle was just as fast and had more maneuverability. I did go off the road and circle back so I was behind him, but he was just a little bit faster than I was, because my motorbike was awesome. And with low blood and everything that had already happened, I wasn't about to push my luck.

Are you referring to my old signature? Aww, I didn't know people actually paid attention to me on these forums. But seriously, are you?
  11. Well, not exactly. You don't glitch through the roof, you simply access the action through extendo-arm reach, in which when the option becomes available, the animation happens of you getting into the pilot seat, since ArmA is an animation-based game. It's really circumstantial. There may be no way to get on the chopper, depending on how it's parked.

    Forum account problem

If I were you, I would get a transfer of data on to a new username so you keep your posts and post counts.
  13. OMG, 400 vehicles! We definitely don't have any of those! And there definitely isn't one with 1,000,000 vehicles I saw in the server list in Commander. And I definitely don't play on them. Ok, that last one was true.
  14. Ok, I'm not going to even read the OP, because I know your problem and I know how to fix it. What you need to do is get John Cofay from the Green Mile, kill a whole bunch of rabbits, then get him to bring them back to life. The resulting charge of life from the miracle will generate enough light to blind 15 elephants and a monkey. Just one monkey. Then of course, all you need to do is repeat the cycle infinitely. Edit: Ok, I actually did read the OP and all that, even before I wrote that. IDK if you can put searchlights in DayZ, but I think you can add light elements with coding.

    Bloodline

No drama? But I heard Lashawnda was dating Brad but Lindsay was jealous so George tried to calm Lindsay down and Arnold got hurt because they forgot to pick him up from the airport after he got home from Hawaii because they were in the hospital after Lindsay hit George in the face with a hot curling iron for trying to calm her down, in which Lars at the hospital came in and told Lindsay to go to therapy, and her therapist turned out to be Max, her ex-boyfriend, so Lindsay went home to do her own form of counseling and blew up the whole entire clan base, killed a bunch of people, and scripted the whole server till it crashed. 17+, bitch please. :P
  18. There is a way to get on the chopper. If you are on a base building server, get some scaffolding. If not, then you just need to get into the right place and you'll be able to get on the pilot seat. What they should have done is put it on the international hotel, because then they'd need snipers with anti-material rifles or satchels to take it down. Gas station is too low.

    Abort Button Always Available

Have you kept your server holy by not overspawning vehicles, giving people everything they'll ever need right on spawn, or adding stupid buildings everywhere making loot super-easy to find? If not, then Daiza (the female DayZ god (who is currently mad BTW about next to no servers offering the female skin option)) is punishing you! Actually she's not, she's just like, OK, if they want to do that to my pride and joy, then enjoy combat loggers biaches!!
  20. person915

    So who would...

A lot of the reason DayZ is easy now is to blame for the server hosters. Disable side chat? We add it again! Remove spawning with a gun to reduce freshspawn pvp? We add it again! With a silencer! Make vehicles harder to find and repair? We spawn 50 choppers in the middle of the street and fix all the cars too, adding an overall 1000 vehicles there to make you lag! Make loot make sense? We add useless firestations and supermarkets to every town to ensure there will be PvP wherever you spawn! Ban weapons that should be banned? We un-ban them and increase the spawn rate tenfold! Added zombies to DayZ? Bleh! We removed those pesky and buggy zombies to make sure you can be focused on looting and PvP! Edit: Just noticed the  has a hitch-hiker's thumb.

    Cant repair helichopter.

Do you have the MROT and Engine Parts on you? Also, sometimes it will show it, and then disappear quickly. Is this what you mean? If so, you just have to be quick, unfortunately.
  22. person915

Why does my dayz looked washed out?

Check the saturation on your monitor. If your DayZ looks faded, it sounds like a saturation issue, since saturation is how much color is in a color. Also, I know CMY colors look muted compared to RGB, so check your monitor is running RGB, which I don't even know HOW THE HELL it could run CMY. Then, of course, it could be the value of the color, in which you check, as the others before stated, contrast/gamma/brightness.

    Tents Disappeared on Public hive.

Did you die after you pitched them?
  24. person915

    Death

The You Are Dead screen does not show blood level. Unless I missed it, which I doubt, unless a mod update happened overnight like the one time I went to a thread and was confused because what the OP was saying was then valid.
