So last night I was playing on a public hive server, and after I discover the winchester now makes just about triple the noise it used to, I decide to die. While I was bleeding, I went to dinner and didn't come back for a few hours. When I came back I was on the "You Are Dead" screen and the player list was overlaying it. I respawned. First thing I noticed was my hands. My ugly, bare hands. This was on a no-third-person server, so all I could do was free-look and see myself without my beautiful sacrament to my good deeds. My hero skin was gone. Now, here was when I got confused. I wasn't on the server when it got restarted. I have NEVER killed a player, lest even hit them with a single bullet or anything at all. I've never been a bandit and this server didn't change into a private hive. Yet now, my hero skin is gone. My humanity is set at 2500 (I don't know what it was before all this, but it was higher). What did I do last night? And what, may I ask, to get myself stripped of my hero!?

Progress update: Got an enfield and an m1911. Couldn't find any enfield mags for the first time in my life. Once I do, heading over to stary. Edit: lost my hero skin too. Didn't kill anyone, and haven't been playing on a private hive. anyone know why? Edit: Found two, not one, but two, bikes at Cap Golova and am in Stary. Add me on skype as cjdow22

I've been all around Chernarus with no profit but a PDW and a DMR. I'm just going to restart my character; it doesn't seem worth it to continue after I just did all that with nothing to show for it.

good computer LOW frame rate NEED HELP PLEASE!
person915 replied to dumbidea's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Graphics performance depends on many things. How much RAM you have, how much RAM your video card has, how good your video card is, your processors and a few other factors. You need to make sure they match up. Also, turn of Vsync if you have not already. Your internet connection may be at fault, so if you can try running ArmA vanilla and see how the performance goes. You can probably get away running ArmA with just one GB of RAM on your video card, but you won't be able to run it on very high. I have 8 GB of RAM (1 on my video card) and dual processors, but I can only run it on medium. -
Today, travelled ALL THE WAY from NW airfield to the east coast and near Berezino, still not finding any vehicles, even a bike. I'm having such a good time....

Progress update: Joined in before school hoping to be able to get in the airfield. It was nighttime and raining. I didn't have any flares. Bleeding, I ran all the way to the firestation and bandaged myself up, now on orange blood. I have steaks and there's usually cows or goats around, so I should be fine. All I know is: never doing that again.

Protecting the Citizens of Chernarus: Hope prevails

Progress update: Headed east and then north, circling back northwest near the NW airfield. I STILL did not find a vehicle, but I found a crashed helicopter site. I got a MK 48 with 3 ammo boxes, only to have them taken away when my MS decided to spike and got me kicked. Joining back I had the 1 M249 ammo box that came with the gun that was also at the helicopter. Finally, after a few times logging back in, I got to the helicopter, but couldn't find the MK 48 mags. I picked up the nearby DMR instead. I headed over to the NW airfield, got spotted by yet another zombie through the woods, then got kicked for ping again. Then I went to bed.

Progress update: These updates let you know that this group hasn't gone dormant. So yesterday, I found a bike right next to my spawn. In under and hour, I had a tent and was ready to go start a camp. But while I was heading back to the backroad where my bike was hidden, I got shot. Having shocked myself and bled out in a doorway earlier, I couldn't really hear it. But as I started crawling up the hill in hope I'd miraculously survive, I see many, many shots fired into the hill next to me, not one actually hitting me. Then he reloaded and took me down. Based on the facts, probably some scared player wasting ammo, or a bandit grubbing for loot. Either way, it was a kicker. BUT, now, I am pretty well equipped in this life, and am searching for a vehicle. Even though I have been from Cherno and looped around the coast to Zelenogorsk, I still have yet to find even a bicycle. Perhaps today's server restart will send some vehicles my way...

No picture links. For anyone. Use imgur, it's not that hard.
-
I don't... do things like that.... Please do not post links. If you wish to post a picture, please use imgur (www.imgur.com) and copy the BBC code into the reply box. Thankyou. P.S. I'm not trying to go against your post or anything, that's your opinion or whatever, but I already get enough spam emails a day from who-knows-where asking me to confirm emails, that I don't need another set of 100 from a phiser link, which for all I know that could be one. Well, sure, a community page would be great (for what I think a community page is), but I have pretty much nothing right now. I don't even have the supplies in-game, because I'm coming back from a break, nor do I have an application, system, rules or anything. So keep an eye on me, and when I'm ready, I'll come find you. Please note that I don't really have any way of paying online until I get a bank account set up. I have money, but no way of transferring it digitally or writing checks or anything. So if that's required, I pretty much am sunk there at the moment.

Getting The Game? What To Know
person915 replied to Pvt. James Duke's topic in New Player Discussion
Erm... you sure? Right now, rocket has redone the inventory. This affects everything to do with it, including backpacks, guns, loot, gear, tools, toolbelt, thrown weapons, melee weapons, and not to mention everything else he will add so people spend initial money on the alpha. We know guns shooting and all will be mostly the same but polished, but that can't really be put into words except "get used to it". So looting, storing, and using items will be different. Heck, even the "f" key menu will be different because it shows ammo in your inventory, and it has to communicate with it, so since it's been redone, it'll be different. But yeah, night lights will be bad, zombies and players will kill you, it isn't like CoD... you got that part right. That won't change. -
I reccommend using TeamSpeak and/or ventrillo for your gaming needs. Skype is simple, easy to use and all, but is not made for gaming, and when I am playing and get a skype message, even playing SimCity, it will take me out and show me it because it feels as though "Hey there" is more important than "Your Nuclear Plant just caught on fire! Dispatch those trucks!". Teamspeak servers are hard to set up, but finding an already made server that will give you your own little nook to hide in and chat is always good. Ventrillo is not as good quality, network, or setup as teamspeak but is a lot more user friendly and does what it is supposed to do well. As for a clan in DayZ... well they really don't matter unless you're doing something and have a goal. Everything else I call a survivor group, but it isn't necessarily derogatory or anything... they're just not active bandit hunters or bandits. Or medics. Or whatever.

This Game Is Currently Unavailable (Application Running)
person915 replied to Mbr697's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This can be fixed. First, restart your computer. Log into steam, then go to ArmA and ArmA: OA. First, try to verify the integrity of your game by right-clicking, going to properties and finding it in there. If it works, try to run it. If not, reinstall/update battleEye and try to verify it again. Try to run it again. If this does not work, you probably have to reinstall your game, and if it still says the same thing, someone may have your CD key and is running the game. -
What are you installing? DayZ, a beta patch, or a map for DayZ? With DayZ commander, first make sure that your steam processes are closed, that ArmA and or DayZ is not running. Then, restart DayZ commander. When you go to update, it will most likely get to 100 percent, then say verifying or installing or something like that. After about 3-5 minutes, keep restarting DayZ commander and going back to hit install, and don't be afraid if it looks like it has to redownload the whole thing again, because it won't. After you restart it a few times, the info should register and it will be installed in DayZ commander's eyes. I don't know why you have to restart it a few times, but if you don't it will keep you waiting forever. Even so, you need to do this regardless of what you install, DayZ patch to ArmA beta patch or map. If the above was useless and you mean when you first boot the program, then restart your computer, end steam processes, then start DayZ commander. If it still persists, try uninstalling it via control panel, then going into your program files and cleaning up the spare files. Then reinstall with the setup and hopefully it will run. If not, try running as admin as suggested by the post above.

Getting The Game? What To Know
person915 replied to Pvt. James Duke's topic in New Player Discussion
You're getting the standalone? I don't believe the standalone is out yet, and there are absolutely no videos with standalone gameplay, I'm pretty sure. So I don't really get your details. Anyway, if you are waiting for the standalone that will be out at the end of the year, no one can really tell you because it will probably be pretty different than DayZ now in most regards. All we could be sure of is most likely that the controls will mostly do the same things. So sorry, but all "a noob like my self" should know is that the standalone isn't out yet, no one knows much about it, and that I hope it stays that way until it comes out so WarZ doesn't steal everything. -
[Resolved] COMPLETELY Resetting Your ArmA Profile?
person915 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What I wish here to do is very simple in its idea. Instead of resetting my character, I want to reset my whole ArmA so it is as if I never played DayZ on that ArmA. I have never been banned from a server, and have never had any issues with BattleEye that people don't have already for being legit. I have a hero skin but... I just want to start straight from the beginning again. Cut all ties and start free, you know? So is it possible (without getting a new CD key or going on a private hive) to fulfill my wishes? -
[Resolved] COMPLETELY Resetting Your ArmA Profile?
person915 replied to person915's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
@Fraggle Thanks for the info. I suppose there is no way to send in an appeal to ask for it to be refreshed? No use, anyway, from what Daffyy2009 says, I might as well find a private hive and make it a home server. Thanks again. @ebay Well the point of adding details like I haven't been banned were to show that I wasn't just trying to get out of a server ban or anything. Actually I might be banned from one, because I remember that one time I didn't know trying to access server controls was anything bad, considering the option was available to everyone.... Still, that was really the only reason I said those things, to insure that you people would not think I was just trying to skip out on something like that. What I'm asking though is if you can completely reset your DayZ character (in public hives) to the point where you have no gear, a survivor skin, regular humanity, and have to respawn when you go back into DayZ for the first time. But, I'll just try out a private hive, and that should fit my needs. So resolved. Request thread lock?
