How About We Start Playing This Game?
person915 replied to person915's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think if you truly want to follow what is trying to be done here you will do all the applications in-game and in some sort of roleplaying form, but not really serious, if you know what I mean. Still, I'd like to know more about your group. From the sound of it you're truly a dictator putting a facade as a president in order for a more accepting notion. I'll see you on election day, El Presidente. -
How About We Start Playing This Game?

Silence is the beauty of this game. What goes on and is understood but not explained or said. Factions would fall as they may, and out of that people would come to their own conclusions. We are not "setting this up to have fun" we are "creating an authentic experience in-game and only in-game, making a unique world that cannot be rivaled to". Imagine as if the NCR just popped up. There was not application, and there was no thread. They are just there, and now you have to deal with them. -
How About We Start Playing This Game?

That was scary quick. -
Adds skill to the game... Because you don't need skill to play DayZ already, no. Or have I just been trying too hard? Anyway, I think adding a longbow would be beneficial, IF there are features to support it. It's a woodsman's weapon, not for PvP, so I suggest being able to fletch arrows therefore if you live in the wild, needs for ammo from looting in towns are almost diminished entirely. Adding a quiver, which is already being added in the SA, would be a great idea. Being able to retrieve your arrows. Do that and you have support for someone's playstyle that can make it really enjoyable to survive. Off Topic: anyone know anything standing about melee combat in the SA? Survival knives, hatchets, ect?

Oh... Already had evidence... :) thanks for the vid!

I assure you, my good fellow, NOTHING ON THIS THREAD IS MADE UP! Please keep our integrity in-tact.

It's double the mystery! But don't ruin it. If I said my stories were urban legends (because they're obviously all true all of them all all true true all of them) then they wouldn't be much fun. I will play DayZ today, and see if I can't find this, "closed alpha test" somewhere on the map. If that doesn't work I'll just ask rocket and go from there.

DayZ is an alpha mod. When we say, "play at your own risk" we mean it. It is unstable and it will crash, burn, and probably make you cry (but not me, of course!! heheh...). If you would like to see another example of how unstable alpha is, ask me about alpha testing The WarZ, in a pm, no one wants that here! Or, just go ask some people about alpha ver of minecraft right after indev stage. I'm sure you'll be running back to the coast by then. That is, if you ever wake up. I know how it feels to have no reason to yet seemingly being punished not being able to play this game, as often battleye will do things to me that shouldn't happen, and not let me play. Still, battleye is in alpha too.... -
Looking on some sites, even the official forums and thread here, I fail to understand just what this is. I do know it is an extension of DayZ, made by some on the dev team, but what I don't get is -what the goal is -a compilation of new features? -why it's different -what has changed because anim 1.1 doesn't help me much, so the changelog only tells me so much. Is this mod supposed to make the game more hardcore? Is it an testing ground for new DayZ features on willing subjects?? Is it a mod for minecraft??? Someone please explain, because I still have yet to find a decent info page on this after 15 minutes.

My understanding of how you came to this conclusion and about the last half of your reply's meaning is rather fuzzy to me.... And I guess we all have our different tastes in writing. Fair enough, as it did only take the time between brushing my teeth and tying my shoe laces.

We need a system so that when I kill a survivor who I've been watching on Elektro fire station roof for 10 minutes asking him to just simply say friendly as he frantically runs around with an AK looking for me I don't lose humanity, as he is a threat. A lot of people just get shortchanged and end up with a bandit skin or less humanity, which isn't fair. I have to say that when guns fire it needs to be proximity and then it should be like this: Tom fires at George. George is a survivor, 2000 H Tom is a survivor newspawn, 2500 on his way to bandithood George kills Tom Since Tom fired at George, and in proximity, George does not lose humanity, but if Tom had killed George, he would have lost humanity, if in this situation killing a survivor skin with less humanity than you would warrant a decrease in humanity. Then of course we can have all the other factors as well Basically, it's like at school, when no one wants to hit first. Well, with a system in place like this, anyone who needs self-defense can have it, and fights and bandits happen for the right reasons. This isn't a suggestion thread though, so just leave this where it be, I don't want to make this thread off-topic.

Sure, the MOD is free, but hypothetically, you need the game to play the mod, correct? So if you have not the game in which to play the mod, you will need to pay to get in which you don't have so you have in which to play the mod. Which costs $$. The process of aquiring and getting everything to function correctly has costed you $$. Therefore, the mod is free, but to play it, you are going to have to spend money in some way, some how, some where, and to some extent. If you haven't the game already. Also you still need Arrowhead for this one. Which is, as you pointed out, NOT free.

You're looking at my signature, bro. The sig is a response as to whenever and wherever I can fit in -without being unreasonably cheesy, ridiculous, or ruining the freshness of it- "in my book" in some corner (usually catty) of my post. Wait for some brave soul to start reading this WHOLE thread and by the time they get to this my signature is completely different and these posts will make no sense.

But I have been actively playing a lot more hours than killing and have not gotten any skin change before, even on a private hive with a survivor skin that I killed no one on playing for about 10 hours. Does it only regen to survivor, nowhere passed that?

I hear, from the birds (and sometimes the bees) of a small group of people who stay around Elektro and kill all the bad ones, they tell me. But it may be just one. Just one who moves quickly. And how do they see him? Moves faster every day. They don't see the bullet. Is he one itself? Tell me if you know him.

This. Is. DayZ! . . . . . . . . . . Alpha mod.

They're probably never on Skype because they're playing DayZ and Skype takes up your bandwidth. So they turn Skype off. To save bandwidth. -
This does not make sense to me, what you are saying. I'll do my best to explain this well, so I don't mess it up and there's no confusion. So don't think I'm making fun of you for explaining it in this manner, it's more for me. Tom plays DayZ, Tom plays on public hives. Tom is a bandit on public hives, and wants to see how much humanity he needs to become a regular survivor again. With the new updates, Tom cannot see his humanity. Tom joins another public hive, but still can't see his humanity. Tom joins a private hive where the debug monitor is shown, so he can see his humanity, but Tom already has a regular survivor skin again. Excited, Tom rejoins his public hive server, and sees he is still a bandit. Tom looks up and finds out public hive characters do not carry over into private hives. Tom does not want to play on private hives, he wants to play on his public hive, but see how much humanity he has. This is what I'm saying. You cannot see your humanity on pretty much and licensed public hive, and when you join a private hive, it doesn't matter because your character won't carry over from before and you will be a survivor again. What I think you thought I meant was that when you die, you get all your humanity reset. No, I did not mean that at all. If this doesn't clear it up then just explain what you think I mean.

I dislike these "monkey hoppers". They see you from across a soccer field when you have less than 3 bars of visibility or hearing, along when no zombies, even facing you that are closer see you, and then make you run or shoot it, attracting the zombies that are actually near you. I say, either fix them, or get rid of them, because right now they don't work how they are supposed to and are annoying.
-
At that point it wouldn't matter, because a private hive would have him as a regular survivor because it doesn't save previous character data.
-
In this game it takes away just about everything in DayZ. Fear of players, watching your back, because zombies are not much of a problem. Only time I got killed by zombies was when I suicided or got my legs broken and started bleeding from just 1 hit from 1 zombie. Sure, if you have PVE you can count on other players trying to help you, or ignore you, but people always find a way. Zombie trains and barricades will be common. I always say: those who want a PVE experience, rent your own server and lock it. Play with your friends. Or find one that does that. They exist.

I would take out blood from meat stakes. Since you cook them, most of the blood is gone and the veins shrink really small. If they don't shrink in reality I'm sorry, but all the meat I've eaten doesn't have really big veins in it, so I assume. The purpose of the IV is that so you can hook up the bloodbag to the IV, or the IV stand, and administer it that way. The blood would be held in on the stand, and you would prick your wrist or arm with the tube that injects the blood. Also, I think we should add bloodtypes to the game. Not much is more difficult than having to find a little O Negative out of 3 hospitals! And of course, players will have bloodtypes and have to match, or risk death matching the wrong bloodbag. I'd like it to be you have a possibility of not knowing your blood type, but considering our characters washed up on shore, they probably don't live there, so no hospital records can be looked up to find the bloodtype of your char....

I think there needs to be a harder way to get blood as a lonewolf but not from eating food. Actually, I'd suggest upping your bloodcount by .1 every 2-3 seconds on ratio, but in actuality it goes up by 1 every 20-30 secs (ect), so it registers the change only once every so often, so the game doesn't lag with your blood constantly increasing by a ridiculously small amount. Maybe when it reaches a point where it would go up by 5? The human body constantly produces blood for the cells that are lost and when injured to replace what has been bled. Including a VERY SLOW regeneration feature and REMOVING getting blood from eating seems ethical, don't you think? As for something like bloodbagging yourself, maybe needing an IV first?
