    Buzzards flying over dead bodies.

Zombies will slap you to death, and walk away, but if you go unconscious for any reason, they will eat you. They need to be trying to eat you, or trying to kill you. PICK ONE, ROCKET! :P
  2. I'm noticing a couple of motifs in a bunch of posts here: -Elektro -firestation Yet we still go in anyway.
  3. I go into DayZ Origins. I'll skip to the problem. I'm wearing a ghille suit, go into a supermarket, find a crossbow, get it, then get behind a shelf, crouched. I switch to it, and my screen goes blue, and I fall over, dead. No shots, no nothing. Just a ghille, behind the store, with an empty crossbow in his hands.

    DayZ Origins: This is Magic

I found a heli. I tried to get in. After the third try, I dropped over dead. FFS
  5. I know there's a link, but I'll do some explaining. DayZ origins offers a unique experience with the ability to create and customize your own vehicles, introducing a new system of salvaging parts, creating all sorts of useful and innovative combinations. There is a story-driven factor involved, giving the world a new depth and creating new conflicts to face, such as a community similar to Crawford in Telltale Games' The Walking Dead which can actually be infiltrated given a talented player. New story factors, zombies, and skins have been added making the newest addition to DayZ's mods one of the most worthwhile yet. While spawns are a bit dodgy, having 2 fixed spawns and a random spawn option, you can eventually find that if you want to live past 5 minutes, you might want to choose random. Supplies are scarce, making ammo, weapons, tools, and gear very precious, and PvP more tense. Conflicts often end with one or both players running out of ammo. Strange vehicles can be seen: armored buses with plows on the front, helicopters made with car doors, yet the ability to scavenge and build your own vehicles still seems like a myth. Strangely, a few player bases can be found scattered about the land, keeping you guessing as to how this happened and how to do it. Be careful with whatever you do, because bugs are rampant, such as dying when getting out a crossbow, or getting in a chopper. Still, Origins will give you tons of fast-paced action gameplay, to keep your heart racing. It will introduce you to things that you have no idea what they are, keeping you guessing and trying to uncover the mystery. The story-driven factor of this game is of intense rivets in the machine of it all, and the players still have yet to find what it is! Thirsk offers another snowy environment like Namalsk, but a bit less military and more rural. Frequent logging stations are found around Thirsk. In my first gameplay, I ran through the forest a lot in the dark, stumbled upon and airfield and got held up by two young gentlemen. We became friends and were going to ride out on our new motorbike and their ATV when we got teleported by hackers and razed by machineguns before we could move. Was still fun while it lasted, though! It also seems there is only a few spawns very close to eachother. Spawn killing is an issue, but expect to find people to team up with! Isla Duala is a new African-style DayZ map and offers a change of scenery from the usual maps. African vegetation and wildlife can be found all around Isla Duala, as well as weapons for what is from warfare between countries on the small continent. Sporting a rich lore history, a bunch of players may remember this map, as it claims to be "the most played island on ArmA 2". In DayZ, the map doesn't really match up too well. The engine being an ArmA engine, forests of jungle are difficult to make, as if they are too thick, you can't move through them, but if it's too little, it doesn't look quite right. As in most new DayZ maps, spawns on Duala are a bit messed up, the most common having you swim across a small sound to any sort of useable land, where you can easily spawnkilled (but usually are not). The only spawns are in the southernmost country, which is disappointing. Full of oil fields and military bases, this section looks like desert with a few trees on it. I could see how it would be amazing playing it in regular ArmA, but the value of it in this mod can't really be appreciated. I have yet to make it up to the northernmost country, where it should be very lush and green, and tourist oriented, as PvP encounters are frequent, but actual fighting, more as just seeing others. Full of brown siding building with green doors, players will find themselves frantically trying to lessen their shoulderwidth and fit through the door to get away from zombies chasing them. This is a giant debilitating factor in the map, as military loot spawns mostly in these kinds of buildings, so if you don't go in them, no military loot. On the other hand, you go in them, and you get pinned. This glitch has been around a while, and hopefully in the next update we'll see our characters lose weight so we can actually fit through most doors. All in all, Isla Duala seems pretty good, but for me did not offer much of anything away from Lingor. Players can expect to often find their own objectives in the map. And remember: All pretty pictures of the map were taken in the north! More when I get to play them (more)!

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution

Then what the hell should we do? Because obviously what we have now... is not working.

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution

I think I edited the post after you replied to it, before I saw this one. BE can't be used for the standalone, I don't think, so anything reguarding it is pretty much irrelevant. Anyway, if it isn't we can always make a software that gets around this disadvantage, the user side of it. Easy solution, a little work to get there, but a lot of reward afterward.

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution

MOST servers have contact info. MOST of them. Actually, A FEW of them. I've been around a TON of servers finding ones I like to play on; very few had contact info. So what do you do? MAKE THEM PUT CONTACT INFO IN! You cannot just assume people will be responsible. Hey, some people don't think to put it in there. You have to help them, atleast. And if you are right about turning off buttons and all that, then there's the argument that rocket and his team are redesigning the server architecture, so in the standalone the engine may not allow something like this to happen. If it does, then there is still, again, the argument that atleast we have a system in place so that when it is able to work it does, instead of dodgy emails, TS servers and all that. We need something, and it may not be perfect... BUT WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NOW. And as long as there is no official announcement about how the SA will deal with reporting/dealing with hackers and offensive players, this is what I'm giving them. It's worked for tons of games before, and there's a reason for it. the dev team is full of good people that will make sure this is done with benefit for everyone and doesn't rob them of money or anything. They do work right. And all the BattlEye stuff is pretty irrelevant now, since it's been pointed out that BE will not work in the Standalone because it's for ArmA. Atleast that is my assumption, otherwise how could it know to ban someone from all "ArmA" servers, if it was not specifically designed?

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution

You mean 3rd party tools and all that? We should not need them. Anyway, I do not realize DayZ will need its own way of detecting hackers and all that, so GUIDs will most likely be extinct, entering a new way of identification for that software.

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution

You can use a command to see your own GUID, no one else's, probably for security reasons. And the reason you say you won't do it while your sleeping, ect, is why rocket & co. needs to hire their own guys, or get some volunteers. Also, people do report every time they get killed but that doesn't matter. Because first off, BE would keep track of your reports, in which an excessive number of reports for the same reason with no real backup would be fiercely ignored and you would be prevented from sending further reports in. Also, the system would not be automated. After a certain number of reports there would be an investigation and warning, and effective system possible to mark the player, letting others know they have been identified as a possible troublemaker, hacker, ect. Admins would be able to keep track on their own time. Still, protection for the most popular hours (when everyone's awake) of a server's runtime is better than no protection ever at all. About the expense of BattlEye that I forgot to answer. You could have either rocket's people get the reports and administer punishment, since BattlEye is for ArmA, not DayZ, and when DayZ goes into it's own game I don't really think they can still use it, which is what you are saying. They can make their own banning system and all that, and hacker detection, if they choose, or use their own BE equivalent.

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution

That's an issue though. Not everyone is responsible. Running a server is hard. This makes it easier. Easier to be responsible. Also, the people have to be on TS. I say that as long as the server is running, the admins have to be connected to the contact program. Even so, you can just report it and save it for later. There are a lot of opportunities to be able to report someone, but not being able to see their GUID, the only thing you could tell battleye is that there was a hacker on this server at this time that did this that you don't know the name of, and they can't really do anything. I do support SA only having official servers as that way people don't abuse power, and that way they can assign people that will run the server correctly, or have a team dedicated to this kind of thing.

Hm, how about setting a waypoint teleports you to that location? A banner pops up on the bottom of your screen like a news broadcast, the channel AAC, the headline ALL HAIL THE HONORABLE RUSTLER!, the scrolling text "This server sucks cock!" in various colors, as you watch a man in a hatchback phase through your parked Ural and goes over 200MPH down the street, while you see a GPS pop up over the news banner, apparently a guy named stranger talking about an operation? Oh, no, this is just another DayZ glitch. It's fine everyone. Wait, we all just died for no reason? Another glitch. What, it was a nuke you say? Oh, that happens. Nothing to worry about.... I'm not an idiot. I don't think those things are hackers and don't assume I do.

Wow, you are gonna keep your hero skin for a while now. Theme: Details matter. You failed to put 'negative' or 'minus' before 100,567million HGAH. Also, if you are going to make a joke, please make it more entertaining. That's all I got.

What if its an enfield? I have heard such horrors of servers doing this.

It's because you've gone on servers with starter kits. DayZ knows your better than that. Listen to it!
  19. Play Utes for a day. Just one. See how it goes. I was too, and then I did Utes and some ArmA, and now I can dispatch anyone with a reasonable gun from a reasonable range. I take pride in the fact that unlike a lot of the DayZ community (not pointing fingers) I'm one of the players who is actually good at the game, and don't miss for 5 minutes. I guess that never happens because I never pick up a sniper, and if I do it isn't ever farther than 500m or so.... Still, that's smart enough to do.

    dayz original?

DayZ is not an original game, and I agree, zombies have been done to death. Been waiting for the next stage to come in, because before zombies popped back up it was more knights and vampires. BUT. DayZ is unique in that it offers experiences that are completely authentic and no games have been able to offer or effectively. It has no UIs, GUIs (barely), or in-game mechanics, but it works well that way! In fact, I've always wanted them to have audible and visual representations you see about your character instead of using icons, but still have them available (incase someone is deaf or something). In that way you'd go even further down the NO GUIs road. Other than that, you do forget, that DayZ is a mod. A mod. Not a game, like Project Zomboid. That's saying enough to give it immense credit. There's that, and DayZ is basically the Dead Island that we all expected and we all wanted. I thought DI was going to be about the tragedy of it all...based on the trailer. Big letdown...

I've been up there tons of times, routine looting. I've been up there tons of times, strange happenings. Both statements are true.

    A Tragedy Has Befallen!

Was just kinda weirded out. My friend found 1 in Elektro, one outside of Cherno, and I found 2 again in Elektro by the power plant.... Same day, no server restarts in between.

    A Tragedy Has Befallen!

This one is good. Nice, easy whitelist and fast if you get it done in the middle of the day (in the US), but that's saying something because if all the admins live in UK then it'd be evening to late there. Good ping, considering my connection has to cross an ocean and US internet SUCKS, nice people- and a strange amount of bikes.... Oh right, and you spawn with default gear, vehicles are pretty hard to come by, and there are no donor perks!
