    Too hard since 1.7.5.1

This thread does not require a lengthy reply, as the OP spent less time writing the post than it takes to go to the bathroom, and not even wash your hands afterward. Remember when it took 5 mins to get killed by 4 zombies constantly slapping you? And one monkey zombie would see you randomly while all other zombies that were closer wouldn't? And no one was really afraid of zombies at all? Getting away from zombies was just a formality? People could fire all their AK into you in town and not worry about getting overly swarmed? All fixed in the new patch. I hate it when people who play a game complain that it gets harder. It's another challenge, IMO. Either STEP UP, or GET OUT. If you aren't skilled enough to take this game by the reins and overcome it, you don't know what a game is and you shouldn't be playing this one. This is what survival is about. Living through all the s*** life throws at you. You aren't always meant to be fine. Life is suffering, and those icons should not always be green. Live with it. Or die, because that's where you're headed now.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

Don't forget they can hop in a chopper, execute a perfect take off, fly around, execute a perfect landing, (assuming the player knows how, but the char is that smart), jump out, get in a .50 cal mounted machine gun, shoot some stuff and get out without being shaken up or getting a headache, run for hours and hours like an olympic runner, all while being a badass.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

Trust me, it's not that hard, and it wouldn't take a fracking Navy SEAL choke hold.... Even so, the zombie infection has gone on for 5 YEARS. You learn a lot in that time.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

Punching a zombie would be stupid, but if you notice, they seem to only want to eat you if they knock you unconscious, otherwise they just slap you, so it'd be more like a catfight you'd be getting into. Seriously, though, I'd leave punching for players and pushing/kicking zombies in the face for... well.. zombies. The main character of AMC's The Walking Dead exhibits how, even though immensely outnumbered and freshly thrown off a horse, you can still get away from zombies using the heel of your boot, and climb into a tank- and this was in episode 1- not to even mention how those zombies are 18x or more deadly than DayZ zombies as (though they can't really run) one measly scratch will kill you in the long run. And, no, players would not turn around and bash you with their gun till dead, because here's how I imagine the mechanic would have to work: The one who is being strangled would have to be still, and the other would sneak up. Then, you do a Solid Snake-like CQC move in which they cannot use their weapon, or, being more realistic, it'd even be possible in real life to tackle them, sit on their back, use the inside of your elbow to choke them and the parts of your legs to hold their arms down. And trust me, unexpecting, that move would be easy enough to pull off. As for punching players, you're right, it takes tons of time to KILL players with a crowbar. Number 1, that's why you break their legs, run, and have them bleed out, and 2, that's why punching should KO them. It doesn't take much to KO someone with blunt trauma from your fist, provided it's in the right place, and anyway, these men/women are strong people. Hell, maybe when you sneak up on someone you should just be able to whack them in da back o da head and give them a concussion. Either would be plausible for me. Better?

STOP MAKING MY DAMN THREAD ABOUT FRANKIE!! Stay on topic, I do not want to continue this discussion and it is not in relevance to the thread to have 1 and a half pages of it.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

First off, having that term in the title attracts a lot of attention to this thread, like you've shown here, as you came and posted this, instead of actually focusing on the main point of the thread. Secondly, what do you want me to say? Newspawn? Freshspawns? Nothing has a ring like bambi (even though I don't like the term myself, and NEVER use it outside of the text boxes), and the thread title would be irrelevant. There will always be newspawns and freshspawns, but with the ability to choke out your fellows without a weapon, you've gone from stumbling ewe to one tough bastard, in about the same time it takes to load in.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

I don't like frankie's videos. And I heard the term bambi before I knew he came up with it.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

Because a bambi is a player that spawns without a weapon. The player is now the weapon

    DayZ: Tactics

This is a guide that will explain DayZ tactics and behaviors for decision-making and more. It will attempt to enhance your experience through understanding both your and other player's actions. The current version will be placed below, above a spoiler containing the guide. It is advised that you don't read the immediate version until release, as revisions may make a great deal of difference. V 0.1

    DayZ: Tactics

This aims to take away from that by showing players it can be beneficial and interesting to explore different playstyles and thinking about things in different ways. It gives guidance of atleast how to get started, as well as to the new players for what they should watch out for, basic responses, ect. It is also to get people to stop complaining. For instance, if you realize what you are doing and what you are getting into, you can't complain for being sniped in Elektro. You went there, that's what happened. Deal with it. And to say that you can stay alive so much longer and still get good gear by being safe and doing the right things. Of course, that isn't always fun. Sometimes you just wanna do stuff and react as it happens, and I don't believe people should play this way all the time by any means unless they thoroughly enjoy it. I also don't want people to complain about it anymore, so I'm showing them there is an alternative.
  15. This is a suggestion thread because it is a suggestion to a problem. It is not about private hives but about all servers, and is just as much a suggestion as "rocket, put lazer cannons in the game!". Teeheehee. I'm quite sure that all of us here have some opinion of hackers. Whatever that opinion may be - is irrelevant. As you are all quite aware, it is fairly easy for any hacker to come into a server, whether BattlEye protected or not, wreak havoc, and leave, pretty much unharmed and not at all scared they might be caught afterward for this particular offense. So I thought of a solution to a few problems we have here. NUMBER ONE: WHERE ARE THE ADMINS? In servers where these hacks have been going on, you always seem to find one thing- actually, a lack of one thing- admins and moderators. When said users are online, these things don't seem to happen. So how do we substitute for the time they aren't on the server themselves? GET A DAMN "CONTACT ADMIN" BUTTON THAT PEOPLE CAN PRESS IF THE SERVER IS ATTACKED! I suggest doing this by having the button available client-side so that the hacker can't hack the server and remove the button. The client then connects to the place where it contacts whoever the button is connected to, and it alerts them. Of course, the button should have some options you click, like why you are contacting the admin, how urgent the emergency is, ect ect, so the admin knows what they're dealing with before they get in. NUMBER TWO: WHO'S HACKING? I CAN"T SEE THEIR NAME! ArmA makes it easy to be able to change your name at will, without any hassle at all. While a nice feature, this makes usernames absolutely worthless in identifying players who hack and punishing accordingly. So what can we do? First off, names need to be like sex. They cannot be changed in-game until you respawn. Secondly, we need a base username to log into, which can also be displayed in-game, so that we have an unchanging way of identifying players, so that when we do find out who is hacking, we can follow them. Once we have this down, it opens up for something else. In many, many, many, many games, there is a simple feature that has provided tons of solutions to these problems. May I present to you, the "Report" button. This button, once pressed, would simply ask you to include a reason for reporting this player, whether it be offensive language, racism, hacking, glitching, ect. It would then send a report to not only the server admin, but BE too, so they can look out. The admin can now follow this player and be aware of potential dangers, and submit their own report if they believe something is wrong. After a few reports for the same offense, BE can then take the threat seriously and investigate themselves. An action can be taken. A conflict can be resolved. SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE REPLYING- -Trolls will be ignored. -Flame posts/wars are not tolerated. -This thread is for further developing on this idea, NOT discussing what to do about hacking in general, feeling about hacking, or any off-topic crap. -Any off-topic posts will be ignored. -Posts without following basic punctuation and grammar will be ignored. Not worth time decoding. -This thread has the intention these features will be implemented in the soon-to-be-released DayZ standalone, not the current mod. Think about what this means and how it relates to your post.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

No, specs and optimization are two different things. DayZ will have less things the AI need to know, so that clutter is cleaned up and the game goes faster. The game will support what DayZ puts it through, such as loot spawning, car repairing, looting, zombies spawning and zombie actions, ect, making for better performance because the game is now meant to do that. I'm not really an expert on optimization, so I don't feel I've covered everything on it, but that's a basic overview. I don't believe I'm necessarily wrong in any way, but if someone wants to add on it, go ahead.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Thank god this isn't another useless thread about complaining about the release date. Standalone is in closed alpha testing, so the release date is relative. They're going to open up the test to streamers, and then the general public after that, and they haven't got the streamers in yet, so that might give you an idea. From what I think, is they're going to be fixing the major game breaking bugs, things that alpha testers catch, and balancing the game out to what it is meant to be, in case they've got something wrong. It depends how fast they work and how much they've got to fix. I'd say a month or two and it'll be out. Here's what you get if you buy ArmA 2, now: -ArmA 2, with campaign missions, and ability to run various entertaining mods, but lose support for most of these mods when ArmA 3 comes out, as well as most of the community. -Ability to run alpha DayZ MOD, full of bugs, hackers, bandits and trolls. If you wait: -A full game, optimized for your PC with a fresh community -A few hackers, hacks not being game-breaking as much -Full support for the game and frequent updates -Better features I would wait. Make your first DayZ experience count. YOU ONLY GET TO HAVE YOUR FIRST TIME ONCE, so make it count, and make it memorable!!!! I'd wait so you can experience the awesomeness of the full-game. You have that luxury with the SA being pretty close to release. But the date isn't announced, because I'm thinking they'll only announce the full-game true release, not the alpha or beta. When that happens, it'll probably have a thread on announcements titled "Devblog Update: So Yeah..." Inside: The alpha for the standalone is here now... so... uh... go nuts....
  20. Sons and daughters of DayZ, we have gathered here in this thread in congregation to celebrate and mourn the death of a once great server. It is known, mostly by my friends and I, as 173.192.200.76:3017. It passed yesterday, the day before a wonderful Panthera server, full of vanilla-ness staying true to the DayZ form, unlike most Panthera servers. Now, today, reborn, it becomes what I'd hoped I would never see. 400 vehicle, 24/7 daylight server on Chernarus. I ask why. Why, oh why have we lost such a valuable companion to our server listings? So worthy. So apt. Now gone, sucked into the void of noobishness where it lay, thinking adding these things could be such a profitable idea. Struggling, it is, to find now a server that holds itself to such true standards, not being a public hive. But it has taught us something in its passing! We must band together, us DayZ players. We must find the servers that still hold true through the madness and we must keep them alive! Slowly, we are losing our servers that seek to provide good-ole-vanilla entertainment! We cannot let them fall through our fingers! In this thread, post your vanilla, or VERY close to vanilla server addresses/IPs, and the map they are on. We must not let more tragedies such as this arise. I beg you. DISCLAIMER: This post is in no way an attempt to start a flame war, and I, the OP, beg you to be civil and kind in your discussions (even though this isn't really supposed to be a discussion thread, I need servers for all maps that I know are good vanilla, because it is seriously taking me hours to find some, then they are shutting down). This is a serious post, the goal to have a list of servers that I, and the part of the DayZ community that would also like servers of this type, can play on. Thank you and have a nice day.
  21. Remembering the time I go to Kamenka and see 6 dead bodies on the railroad tracks lying next to eachother....

    A Tragedy Has Befallen!

I never said I had a server. Ever. In that post. There are other peoples' servers posted here... not mine.
  23. As of now, singleplayer is off in DayZ which I think is stupid. I want to use the mission editor. Now I don't know the reason it was turned off, if running campaign with DayZ made some crazy things happen or not, but regardless, here's my testimony for it in the SA. People have made all sorts of creative things with the Mission Editor. I don't want it to be a mission editor. I want it to be a movie maker... of sorts. A simulator. Be able to put triggers, items, zombies, and NPCs, but with easier camera rigging and no actual mission. People have made tons of videos with ArmA using the mission editor, and they are creative and wonderful things. Allowing the DayZ community to do this would be awesome to see what they would come up with. Not only that, but you could run simulations of the game in it as well, seeing outcomes or just for fun, like miniatures that you can watch fight. I always wanted something like that IRL, but this is the absolute next best thing. It could be a form of singleplayer. If you had AI for survivors, bandits, and heroes, you could put yourself in situations, persay a bandit on sniper hill, or a group of survivors taking over Cherno. You could go in (by yourself) and play with the AIs as a test ect. As a form of singleplayer. So, please, keep the editor, and don't allow people to edit vehicle spawns, and loot spawns in an actual map, but let them do it in a fake one that no one but spawned NPCs and themself can play in. Of course, a feature like this would have to be developed if you do what I suggest such as simple camera rigging, but it'd be worth the wait, not even expecting something like this would be out when the SA releases.
  24. person915

    SA: Keep the Mission Editor!

No, I'm sorry. If you didn't notice, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Dean and his devs. Also, you do not decide what DayZ is. Those who are working on it do. If they want a movie maker, they'll add one, and you can't do anything about that. What I'm asking for is what I want, and you can't blame me for trying. Don't go trampling people's wishes or you'll find yourself in a bad place.
