    New spawn idea (best one?)

I find that sometimes the location can be more confusing than good. "Wilderness? WTF? Lemme respawn...." McCullins was killed. "Airfield? But I thot you don't spawn at NWAF or NEAF!!!???" McCullins was killed. "Otmel? Well where's the islands?" McCullins was killed. "Kamenka! Oh hell no, not doin' this!" McCullins was killed. *sigh* "Wilderness again...." McCullins disconnected.

NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]

People with NVGs would camp the spawns waiting for players that had enough gear to be able to make the trip came rolling in. They'd take them out. That's what I think. It already happens at Elektro, the difference being that it spawns players often. It happens at Stary. At NWAF. Then there's just more people with NVGs to camp the others.

NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]

You don't seem to understand this. If you have NVGs. The current ones. You see. At night. EVERYTHING. As if it were day. Now here, Charlie, the unlucky guy with no NVGs, is struggling around in the dark with his chemlights and flares, trying not to bump into zombies that are as black as the ground around him. Yulonda, a girl who found some NVGs, could easily take Charlie out, no problem, without Charlie ever seeing her, knowing she was there, looking at him for maybe even 20 minutes. Yulonda sees Charlie, sneaks up behind him with her NVGs, and carefully aims at his head. She pops him, and he falls over, shocked and dead. Sam, a few meters behind, the unarmed bambi Yulonda let go, saw the flash, unaware that Charlie or Yulonda was even there! Yulonda escapes back into the night, after firing a few shots at Sam, who ran into a zombie on accident and aggro'd a ton of them. ---- It isn't a matter of a better weapon. With a chemlight or flare, you might as well be ringing a bell and shouting over direct "COME AND GET IT, BANDITS, FREE FRESH MEAT HERE!" While those with NVGs slip in and out undetected by anyone, and with the goggles being so rare, there is usually no one that stands a chance to them at night. I've killed players with my Winchester or Enfield that have had AKs and M4A1s. Hell, I've killed 6 guys outnumbering me with an M14 AIM, and they had DMRs and MK48s and knew where I was the whole time! Like one of these posts said, NVGs requires no skill to use. Weapons do. In the right hands, an CZ is just as deadly as an M24. That doesn't happen with chemlights and flares to NVGs. On a server I play on, they removed thermals and NVGs from the game. Night time is a lot more fun because everyone is on your level, and everyone there agrees. They kind of like playing at night at that point. http://dayzmod.com/f...no-more-bambis/ :P Look at the link provided above the quote of your post. Lol, ain't nobody got time for that! But seriously, I just don't want to. It doesn't make the game fun, when you go NVG hunting. I did it once, and the only reason was because I was at such a disadvantage to those who had them at night, and it was stressful and stupid and ended with broken dreams and a clan more than half dead from my friend and I. It is just not worth my time, and I could be so much more productive looking for other things, or having adventures than wasting my time hunting for NVGs I'll lose to a bug or glitch, or random bandit. I don't want them removed because I don't use them. I've had them, a lot, just found them when I wasn't searching, or was given some. I still don't like it. Either nerf them like Minecraft fire so it's like using flares or chemlights at night without the glow, or take them out. You can't say I want them removed because I don't have them. I find it as if ArmA didn't have NVGs and DayZ came out, no one would care anyway. We wouldn't be having this discussion. No one would really want them because they were never in. It's a luxury like spawning with a gun that when was removed, players complained, but it fixed a lot of newspawn PvP, and everyone lived with it anyway, so here we are a few months later, still playing the game, still enjoying it. You should look at the response to the first guy I quoted. I think it'll do more than rewriting it again.... ;) Wow. Flame. I feel the heat. Luckily, I don't subject myself to anger like you do (well, maybe if I do it FIRST, on occasion. We're all sinners). Demented logic? Read just about every reply above you. Make sense now? No? You should read some of my forum content. Just about everything I've done has been very well received and you can look at the beans I've gotten for them. I expect something like this to be rejected as, again, the example with spawning with a gun. You just don't want to let it go. I don't understand how people can think that someone with NVGs is at any point even near the same level as someone without it. Before I repost the same things that I explained above, just read it. You see, what you said, removing and M4 if I have a Winchester. That is demented. But that's not what I said. That's not what I meant. That's very far from it, and I think I've proved it. Suggestions about supporting new playstyles; subjects I thought about for weeks, when the subject matter came up. I always wanted to stay true to DayZ's form. Always. Never go too far. If something's not broken, don't fix it. These are the things I keep in mind. Just... expanding. Like how bear traps and different kinds of raw meat and boiling water did. My suggestions, built the same way. And people liked it. So why not this one? Even so, it doesn't matter if it IS a horribly bad suggestion, as there is no reason to respond like that. I will tell you, I'm not an idiot. All the time. We all have our moments. I've been a good community member and have given a lot, yet you tell me to get out, after ONE post that was not even a paragraph? You most likely have not even read any of my longer works. I guess now, with this, you are getting the chance. I even copied and pasted after each quote (still learning multi-quote) just so it was one post. But, we all make mistakes. I know that. So if this was a mistake, I understand. I really do. ----- So, who still disagrees with me? I don't mean about removing NVGs, I mean about that my logic is skewed, that it doesn't make sense? All of you think I mean that every weapon more powerful than another should be removed, if "my logic" was applied to the game. I don't. Do you think that now? Have you calmed down? Have you looked at it in my perspective? I think that I've done a very suitable refutation here, so let's see if I left anything out when you reply and say something about this that I didn't mean.

    Too hard since 1.7.5.1

Go fire a gun in Kamenka, and tell me how it works out. The floor was unseen through the bodies of those monsters. It seems like there are a lot more now because they all come for you. Anyway, I agree that they shouldn't be able to pinpoint it. There needs to be some investigation, you know? Not aggro at a gunshot, but slowly wandering toward it, tell they can actually pinpoint the shot, then get into the building and investigate some more. Only zombies that see the player should aggro, and zombies that hear should just investigate. IMO

What is the problem of Dayz?

You're assuming things. Give me some statistics. I want a real percentage to back up the "most of the community is playing as bandits" statement. Also, I don't think that you meant "bandit" as in "it's a PvP game". That to me doesn't make it a PvP game. LoL is PvP. Is it a bandit game? CoD is PvP, is it a bandit game? So PvP does not necessarily mean it's a bandit game. It seems to me like since I don't agree with you, you are trying to make another reason to say that. I dunno if you truly believe PvP makes something a bandit game or not, but I know that's not what you meant originally, or you would have said it. You might mean it now, and that's fine. Then you start talking about problem and solution. There is no problem here. Bandits are not a problem. Imagine DayZ without bandits. Nothing happens. You say no one cares about the zombies: play the new patch much? The zombies are definitely more of a threat and people have not adjusted yet. Bandits are sniping MUCH farther away now on account of the aggro, and as a result missing much more often. There is no problem here. DayZ tells it like it is: IF random strangers who did not know eachother washed ashore of a dead Russian country with no fear of consequence and found guns and bullets, most of them would start killing eachother. If people were neighbors or friends, the game would be different. It is the fact that we are all individuals that both frees and binds us to a cycle of shameless killing. Sure, there are things that can be improved upon, but bandits shouldn't be punished, (I'm saying this and I'm not a bandit) and they are not a problem. It's just something that comes with the game, as much as the zombies. You have to survive and overcome any way you can, which is what this game is about. No fancy mechanics are going to stop them. Reduce sniper ammo? They'll use AKs until the find enough on bodies to start doing it again. You just have to adapt, survive, overcome, or be one more bloody mess in Elektro's streets.

What is the problem of Dayz?

Oh, look, one of these threads. OP, be prepared for a bombardment of posts. Anyway, here's how I see your viewpoint: FOR SHIT. We all have our opinions of this game, and we don't "all know this has just become a bandit game". Don't speak for us, because, also, you're answering your own question in the OP, derailing the "discussion" before it left the station and taking it down a turn you didn't even want to go in. DayZ isn't a bandit game, my opinion. I met a guy with a biplane in Taviana, gave him a blood transfusion after he disarmed his hatchet. I had an M1014 with 3 8rnd Slugs itching to leave my barrel. I didn't kill him. I didn't want to. He could find his hatchet after that. A few minutes later I saw him being chased by a zombie. I through a flare and shot the thing, then gave him my hatchet through the airfield fence. He didn't kill me, either. Sure, there are the times I sneak up on the Elektro snipers with my hatchet, but you need to understand that people like that will ALWAYS be there, doesn't matter what game or anything. There are still people who aren't bandits out there, and they dominate more than the bandits do. So there, that's all I got. I gotta go to school, see ya later.

NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]

Hopefully they'll be removed soon. It's not fair at all to players who don't have them, as those who do have a SERIOUS advantage.

    New spawn idea (best one?)

How do you simulate waking up easily? That's why you're already standing up. Ready for action. Also, if you wake up, "Bettuh find ta map, an' a car".... well you don't know what the hell is going on. You don't know what this place is, who these people are, and why they're attacking you. The only reason that you can survive longer in DayZ than normal is because BEFORE we load it, we know it's a zombie mod. If I made games, when I make them I'm telling little about it as possible, and making it very multi-impressional for TONS of interpetations, to equal that no one really knows WTF is going on. I'd most likely advertise it as a normal game, like the Sims, but not in the way I'd get in trouble for false advertisement. Not only that, but having 10/100 clients of my game with extra files installed for a zombie apocalypse would be quite interesting... especially when they figure out that it isn't supposed to happen...

Dayz SA using more than 2 cores

I had no idea hippies could be so knowledgeable about computers!!!! Thanks, Shaggy! BTW: By a new outfit, your old one looks like you had it since the 70s!

    Abusive admin sat down

This shows that when you assume things without any prior knowledge, AND you choose not to learn about it and have a clear opportunity to do so, you look like even a bigger dick than who you were talking about. I have no idea what YOU are talking about, because you failed to make an intelligent post. BTW, when you reply, IF you reply, I'm not flaming with you, so just keep that in mind.

Dayz SA using more than 2 cores

I'm still a bit stupid. What's hyper-threading? You mentioned it, so don't go telling me to look it up.
  12. I think that not having ragdoll makes it harder because things clip through walls and all that. How I would do ragdolls in the SA is have zombies eat other zombie corpses to clean some of them up so you can have some ambient garbage disposal instead of them sinking into the floor or disappearing completely, because too many ragdolls = worse performance.

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

This is a good idea, and again, it adds to the idea of what these mechanics would do. The player who is tied up would now be neutralized truly, and can be done with what they wish. Bandits can kidnap people, heroes can take someone down and tie them up, no longer a problem. Perhaps there should be slight specialty items to support this playstyle, like one of those choking threads to increase the success rate of strangling (since you don't have to use your hands, and it's stronger), steel toed boots, and of course ropes (which should have the player be able to get out of if they "struggle" enough, which executes a very noticeable animation, and handcuffs, which there's not much getting out of without the key or steel pliers from a friend. I think that these ideas fit into DayZ nicely, as if people could simply clock out their opponents, there'd be a lot more going on. Ransoms. Kidnapping. Hostages. Sheriffs. So much more, all in the DayZ spirit!

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

I'd like to think these ideas are different as I wish them to blend in with the rest of DayZ, like melee with the hatchet and crowbar. I don't want to rely on use of UIs, special scripted events, only equations like those that keep you alive or kill you when a certain size bullet enters a certain part of your body from a certain distance at a certain speed. Like the other combat of the game. And, I'd also like to think, that unlike other ideas, this does not pertain specifically to the requirement of a completely unarmed body, nor does it pretain to the simple different style of killing. It is a way to 1) not lose humanity 2) neutralize targets quietly 3) give new players a chance against armed ones 4) support a new playstyle and get players thinking in different ways 5) provide more options than the linear "the only way to remove a threat is to erase it off the face of the earth"

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

I had a hatchet, started getting shot at in Elektro. Bandits at the barn who really didn't need to be in Elektro at all. I snuck around and saw the guy against a tree, scouting out for me. A man with an AK had distracted them, so I went around them on Dobry keeping to the trees. They didn't suspect a thing. I got to him, hatcheted him twice, noticing his M14 and coyote backpack, and see his friend run in. I hid behind a tree, and, not thinking, tried to run out at him. What I should have done is grabbed his M14 and shot his friend. If things had been different with these features, I would have gone for the silent strangle or disarm and taken the weapon, and maybe his friend wouldn't have seen the death message and not shown up. Even so, this is more proof that you get opportunities to use this kind of thing often and can be an effective way to go about doing things. Sometimes it won't work out, like the bandit friend, but with an M24 and M14 shooting at me, and sounding alike, I could only presume there was only 1 guy, so it was not a bad assumption at all. Things are more likely to go better in these situations.
  16. person915

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

Again, success rate. Shoving and kicking are desperation moves, when all else fails, or you have that one pesky zombie on your tale, like said in the OP. I assume you are referring to Quick-Time-Events, in which I agree, I wouldn't like to see them in DayZ either. What I would suggest is adding some sort of reflex option though. Because, think about it: You are sniping, when all of a sudden, your player starts struggling, and you think "WTF is going on?". I believe the player should have to realize they're being attacked to be able to react, not figure it out while their character is doing it. Maybe just a simple click (that isn't telling you to do it on-screen) would suffice, and at that point your character would start struggling, and yours and the other's success rates would sort itself out. I think that counter moves should be something the victim will have to do themselves after they get out of the attack. I also don't believe these moves should have cooldown. As they are very strenuous, I think they should lower the success rate of future moves for a set amount of time by a significant percentage, by making you exhausted, like when your character runs for a while.
  17. person915

    NO MORE BAMBIs!

That's why most things require one or more of the players to be still, as in, either they trust you, or you snuck up on them. If you are in pain, panting, thirsty, hungry, or moving fast, your chances would be less likely to actually execute the move. Keep in mind, that the success rate should be far down anyways, as no one is a melee master by any means, and to simulate the specific circumstances requires the assumption that things will go wrong- a lot. I believe that these moves will be hard to execute anyway, without even hoping for the success rate to be in your favor. I'd like to point out, also, that none of these moves kills anyone. You can disarm someone, sure, but unless you get the gun out of their hand right away, there's no chance of it going anywhere but to the floor after that. Still, these moves are to give newbies a CHANCE, not a definite way or living, as well as give other players the ability to neutralize a target in a different way than killing, like say a hero would do. If you think about it, even if the moves fail, more often than not, you still would end up on top IRL, and still have the advantage you had before to take the guy out if all else fails. Not to mention, unexpected combat would be the essence of this to work. Two players in the same house or coming around corners might not end up how you think, even if one has a gun. You can still run away then, and live, like you should have a chance to.

    Too hard since 1.7.5.1

I don't want them to waste any time on the mod right now, until the SA was released. I'd say to put off all support for the mod until the SA, IF we had a release date for the alpha. but we don't, so..

I always thought they should interchange. Clawing would take down blood and biting would get you infected, and maybe we see some amputees running around now? But anyway, I was kinda like "When they are hungry, they should try and eat you, and when they just ate (someone else) they should ignore you." So then they try and kill you to eat you, or just try to eat you alive. And stuff.

Lost In Taviana - Who Is Mr Smith ? LOL

You find a guy in Taviana, and shoot him. There was nothing really special about this, or that entertaining. It needs more substance. Like next time, watch him a bit more? See if he actually was trying to kill your friends, or talk to him, prank him, or freak him out. That's the material you need.
