    My issues with .55

Who are you to tell someone who has logged over 500 hours into this alpha (speaking about OP) to quit the game for now when he merely critiques it and vents his frustrations? Of course it's important to keep a positive vibe since the game is still in development, but I agree with OP in the sense that feedback - positive or negative - should be taken into consideration. After all, players who have over 500 hours of playtime probably like the game dispite of its flaws and just want to see it get better in the future..

    Nvidia 660 vs 870M - Performance Troubleshooting

Hmm that's too bad. I don't have any performance tweaks for you to try - however I would recommend you to check out the Passmark GPU and CPU performance lists in the future and stay away from GPUBoss as it literally tells you nothing useful. According to this list (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html) the GTX 660 scores around 4100 points, whereas the 870M scores around 2400. Just to set your expectations right, your desktop card is roughly 1.7 times as fast so it makes sense you notice the difference. I believe cards like the HD 7770 (scoring ~ 2100) are the bare minimum to run DayZ standalone. Anything slower than that will hinder your gameplay experience dramatically. The 870M is positioned just slightly above that mark so it makes sense you don't get amazing framerates even when you lower the settings. On top of that, the game is pretty horribly optimised as of now which doesn't help at all.. I don't believe your cpu is the problem in this case as both your desktop and laptop CPUs are properly fast. Hope this at least helped you understand things a bit better!

    Video Card Suggestions

I'd go with an AMD R7 260X or the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. The 750 Ti requires a mere 300w power supply, but otherwise something around 450w will do.

can people subscribe to my youtube channel

I don't think begging for people to sub you is a good way to get a loyal subscriber base :). If the content is good enough people will subscribe eventually. I see you have no DayZ content yet anyways!

    Dayz mod (vannilla/epoch) or standalone?

Aahh see that's where you mark a crucial point. Enjoyment.. in the end that's what it's all about right? This is why I still play the mod. I bought SA the hour it came out on Steam but I've only played it for a few hours. I keep track of the updates and watch some livestreams every now and then which is cool, but in terms of pure value and fun SA doesn't come close to the many options of the mod yet imho. I hope modding will be the calling for DayZ SA just like it has been for the original DayZ mod. I just really get the vibe people are too scared about DayZ SA being ruined when modding is gonna be allowed - afraid it will become the next DayZ Overwatch or Epoch. "But that's not what DayZ is about, it's about survival! Go play Call of Duty or get lost!" This vision I feel is a problem. In the end, why do we play games? For fun! Now I enjoyed vanilla DayZ, DayZero, Epoch and Overwatch.. all of these have something different to offer varying from hardcore-ish realistic gameplay to massive pvp action. I feel if DayZ SA is going to stick to this 'hardcore survival attitude' it's currently got going for itself it would be a huge waste of potential. And don't you dare tell me "then DayZ is not for you". I can make that judgement perfectly fine for myself. If only people wouldn't be so afraid to have fun..

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Yes, it will run You might want to upgrade your GPU to something like a GTX 750ti (~130$) or an R7 260x (~100$). It all depends on your budget though, but either of these cards will give you a good basis for DayZ. If you opt for a more powerful card you will in turn need a better power supply, whereas these 2 cards should run on most power supplies (bear in mind, R7 260x requires 1x6 pin connector). Yes you can run the game.

    DayZ unplayable on GTX 770

Yeah, reason number one why I don't even really bother playing SA as of now. The main point I worry about is wether performance will actually be better or not in future development of the game..

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Invest in a better graphics card like an R7 260X or GTX 750ti. Be aware that buying more powerful cards requires a more powerful power supply unit for your system, although these two examples should run on most standard power supplies (1x6 pin connector required for the 260X though). Buying either of these cards (or something equivalent/better) should prolong the lifespan of your system when it comes to gaming..

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

I gave you the answer to that. You will probably get around 15 fps on average, if you're lucky a bit more depending on the area. You actually want to get around 30 fps for fairly smooth gameplay, and you will get about half of that. So yes, it will lag.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Okay let's clear this up. I ran some benchmarks on an integrated HD 4000 graphics card which is quite simular to the card in those laptops, though the HD 4400 is about 20% faster. This was my test system: These were my settings: I got the following results running 5 to 6 minute tests in different areas.. Benchmark in large town: 19 fps average Benchmark in smaller town: 19 fps average Benchmark in forest: 17 fps average I expect you to get simular results to this, give or take a few fps given that your cpu is slower but your gpu is slightly faster, so you're looking at a 15-20 fps average at best on low-normal settings. Up to you to decide wether the game will be playable or not.

I see a 2nd gen i3 and B75 motherboard chipset there. Why if I may ask? And you will be re-using an old hard drive since you aren't buying one? Just wondering.. To answer your question; invest a little more money into a better graphics card, get something like an R7 260x or a GTX 750. If you do that the game will run pretty good . The GT 630 you chose isn't really great for gaming. Edit: I've seen you post 3 different systems here on one page. Next time edit your post rather than posting 3 times since we can't really help you like this.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Game is somewhat playable on lower settings. Don't expect miracles, performance will be shaky. Will run as good as standalone can run on any machine, period. Of course you already knew that. Running on a macbook? Anyway as long as you don't plan on running it on native resolution it should be somewhat playable on lower settings. Can run the game on low settings. Again, don't expect miracles when it comes to the performance.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Game will run pretty good on high settings  You don't have to apoligize for having an i3 or anything for that matter. In fact current i3's are actually pretty good.. but the fact that you have 6 gigs of ram makes me think you have a first gen i3. Anyway, hardware-wise the best way for you to make DayZ run even better is to further upgrade your graphics card and invest in a newer cpu like the newer i5s or equivalent. While the GTX 460 may have given you a huge boost, its a 4 year old mid range card. There are way faster cards available at this point, though as you said the GTX 460 is still powerful enough to run most modern games at least decently. If I were in your situation I'd just stick with what I have untill I can afford a new system altogether. Tweaking the graphics settings in DayZ itself is always an option as it costs you nothing but a little time :). If you're looking for better performance you could check out this thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/ Otherwise just crank up your in-game settings and see how much your system can handle ;).

My Dayz Frame drops, freezing and stuttering

What are your specs? Honestly it could be many things. Could be your laptop overheating, could be that you're using the wrong windows power/energy profile resulting in a downclocked cpu or gpu. Have you experienced these problems in any other games or only DayZ? Have you altered your DayZ settings in any way? Have you been using the same graphics driver, and have you tried updating it? Some more information would be nice :) . In case of those two examples I gave, you may want to monitor your temperatures just to rule that issue out. I would recommend HWMonitor, you can run it in the background while playing the game. http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.25-setup.exe It shows the maximum temperatures of your CPU and GPU as well as other components reached during play. Things like the weather or different surfaces you put your laptop on can have an effect on your CPU and GPU temperature. High temperatures can result in hiccups and much worse performance. To verify wether your CPU is actually running at full clock speed, check with CPU-Z. http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.70-setup-en.exe Generally when a laptop runs on battery the CPU downclocks itself to preserve battery power. Sometimes these power profiles get mixed up resulting in lower performance even when the charger is plugged in. CPU-Z shows your CPU type as well as it's core speed which is what we're looking for. These are some really basic things, hope we can get some more information to work with. In the end it may be a DayZ related problem, but as of now I cannot tell you.

dayz screenshot of fps on low-end laptop

All right, I actually just finished the post. Added/edited some bits here and there. I just really want to emphasize how important it is to really back up your claims especially when you want to help other people ;).

dayz screenshot of fps on low-end laptop

@d.walker43 I've decided to do some benchmarking myself to compare my results. I used my IGP with the latest drivers to get as close as possible to your specs. Your system: Core i3 4010U 1.7GHz (Passmark score = 2525) Intel HD4400 (Passmark score = 533) My test system: Core i5 3570k 3.4 GHz (Passmark score =7168) Intel HD4000 (Passmark score = 455) These systems are somewhat comparable in performance. Your graphics card is slightly faster while my cpu is over twice as fast as yours. You mentioned you ran DayZ at medium to high settings which resulted in an average of 40-50 fps in open/forest areas whilst you got about 25 fps in towns. My DayZ test settings: I lowered my resolution one step compared to yours since I didn't get the 1366x768 option. Otherwise I used mostly normal settings and disabled most rendering settings so there can be no confusion. I left my interface resolution at 1080p native. Now for the results. I used the FRAPS benchmark tool to get a min/max/avg framerate in 3 seperate benchmarks. Benchmark time was about 5-6 minutes for each run playing DayZ like I normally would. First benchmark: Svetlo Second benchmark: Smaller town (don't know which one) Third benchmark: Forest and open fields As you can see my framerate is quite consistant no matter where I go. I get about the same average fps in towns and forests. I'm quite surprised my fps are actually slightly lower in forests than in towns like Svetlo, but this can probably be clarified by natural dips and highs in framerates. My min went to 0 for a few seconds during the forest benchmark and my max went to 53 when I died in Svetlo. I really wonder how your laptop is supposed to get 40-50 fps on average like I've seen you post a few times, since I only manage to get half of that - about 17-19 depending on the area. I'm running on even lower settings than you do, but at the same time my IGP is a tiny bit slower than yours. I doubt my IGP is the problem in this case though. I could probably pull of some 40 fps screenshot as well when looking towards the sea or certain specific areas but that is in no way representative of my average performance. Now I do not mean to attack or provoke you in any way. I'm simply wondering how there could be such a difference between these two systems. One screenshot doesn't really prove anything in my book, especially when you want to advise people into buying the game on certain systems or not (referring to the "Can I Run DayZ Retail thread). Perhaps you could do some test runs yourself so we can see what is going on and if there is indeed a rather large difference. Was the game playable for me? I guess it kind of was. I wouldn't play it like this myself but I can see others being happy with it when they really have no other option. Still, I'd be very hesitant to recommend people into buying and playing DayZ standalone on a system with such low graphics performance. As long as we all tell them the truth, it's up to them to make the final decision. When we spread misinformation it becomes a different case.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Okay well if that's the case thats some really good news since that would mean almost anyone can play the game.. it still sounds rather optimistic to me but you seem sincere :) .
  18. Salva (DayZ)

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Thats sounds really optimistic to me. I've seen you post that a few times now so I really wonder - where do you get said 40 fps with those settings if I may ask? And most importantly, what are your fps in towns including larger towns like Cherno?
  19. Salva (DayZ)

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

I'd guess the game will run pretty well on medium to maybe some higher settings but it's up to you to find the most satisfactory combination of settings and performance. There's room for some experimentation with the system you have which is a good thing :) . Just fiddle around with the settings a bit!

I fear the game will be unplayable for you. You can probably fire up the game but the framerate is going to be incredibly low.

You can run the game with decent framerates :) .

I don't think I would solely downgrade the i7 to get a better quality psu, only if you can get an SSD with it (SSD's are totally worth it!).The Corsair VS series is a budget line PSU, I've read up a bit on it and I haven't found too many complaints so it should be fine. Personally I'd rather spend a tiny bit more to get something like an XFX PRO650W but I don't know if those are widely available. It's not a must though, the Corsair will run your system - but sometimes spending a little bit more on a quality piece can be worth it in the long run :). When it comes to gaming the performance difference between i5s and i7s is generally really small whilst the price difference can range up to £100 when downgrading from an i7 4790 to lets say an i5 4670/4690 or even a 4440. Conveniantly enough some really good 256Gb SSD's like the new Crucial MX100 come in at about that price so it's definately worth the consideration. Having said that I want to stress again, your build looks really solid. You've managed to fit in an i7 and a GTX 770 and you could always get an SSD later on . I don't know what processor your have but I'm assuming its an AMD. Yes, you can run the standalone but the performance will be far from ideal since your graphics card isn't really powerful.. The game will run very choppy. It can give a decent indication but imho it deals too much in absolutes (either you can run it or not, whilst not all cases are that clear) and sometimes it's just plain wrong. It doesn't tell you what kind of performance you can expect with what settings either.
  24. Salva (DayZ)

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Looks solid. Not sure about the psu (there are better options) and you don't have an ssd but since you're on a £900 budget the system looks fine. It will run any game on high settings with high fps, but to be honest I don't think anyone can garantee 60 fps stable in DayZ as of yet since the game performance is not fully optimised as of yet. If you were to change cpu as you mentioned I would swap the i7 for an i5 and in exchange for that get a better quality psu or perhaps an ssd. Choice is yours, the system looks fine regardless .
  25. Salva (DayZ)

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Let's try again then shall we? Yeah your system is a kind of 'on-the-edge' case. It's certainly possible to play with those specs as you said but it's far from ideal. Good to know you're happy with the performance as it is :). Your resolution is only 1024x768? Well, regardless of that with any of those graphics cards (preferably the 660 or 270) you will get good FPS on high settings. Your CPU is fine as well. You will get good fps with that system once you're running the game on the 650 ti . Unless you're running it on a 4k resolution 55 inch tv? You didn't specify the resolution but I'm assuming its 1080p. You will get good fps on high/very high settings. It really depends on your expectation. Yes, that system can run the game but the performance will hinder your gameplay experience since the integrated graphics card in your AMD A8 (the 8570D if im not mistaken) is not very powerful. The performance of that GPU is lower than what I would personally recommend to play DayZ on (I would recommend a card at least twice as fast, about 1500-2000 passmark points compared to your 700 passmark score as seen in this list http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+8570D) but it's not impossible. It's up to you wether you wanna put up with really low framerates and settings.
