Who are you to tell someone who has logged over 500 hours into this alpha (speaking about OP) to quit the game for now when he merely critiques it and vents his frustrations? Of course it's important to keep a positive vibe since the game is still in development, but I agree with OP in the sense that feedback - positive or negative - should be taken into consideration. After all, players who have over 500 hours of playtime probably like the game dispite of its flaws and just want to see it get better in the future..

Nvidia 660 vs 870M - Performance Troubleshooting
Salva (DayZ) replied to Caatalyst's topic in Troubleshooting
Hmm that's too bad. I don't have any performance tweaks for you to try - however I would recommend you to check out the Passmark GPU and CPU performance lists in the future and stay away from GPUBoss as it literally tells you nothing useful. According to this list (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html) the GTX 660 scores around 4100 points, whereas the 870M scores around 2400. Just to set your expectations right, your desktop card is roughly 1.7 times as fast so it makes sense you notice the difference. I believe cards like the HD 7770 (scoring ~ 2100) are the bare minimum to run DayZ standalone. Anything slower than that will hinder your gameplay experience dramatically. The 870M is positioned just slightly above that mark so it makes sense you don't get amazing framerates even when you lower the settings. On top of that, the game is pretty horribly optimised as of now which doesn't help at all.. I don't believe your cpu is the problem in this case as both your desktop and laptop CPUs are properly fast. Hope this at least helped you understand things a bit better! -
I'd go with an AMD R7 260X or the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. The 750 Ti requires a mere 300w power supply, but otherwise something around 450w will do.

I don't think begging for people to sub you is a good way to get a loyal subscriber base :). If the content is good enough people will subscribe eventually. I see you have no DayZ content yet anyways!

Dayz mod (vannilla/epoch) or standalone?
Salva (DayZ) replied to ordomalleus25's topic in New Player Discussion
Aahh see that's where you mark a crucial point. Enjoyment.. in the end that's what it's all about right? This is why I still play the mod. I bought SA the hour it came out on Steam but I've only played it for a few hours. I keep track of the updates and watch some livestreams every now and then which is cool, but in terms of pure value and fun SA doesn't come close to the many options of the mod yet imho. I hope modding will be the calling for DayZ SA just like it has been for the original DayZ mod. I just really get the vibe people are too scared about DayZ SA being ruined when modding is gonna be allowed - afraid it will become the next DayZ Overwatch or Epoch. "But that's not what DayZ is about, it's about survival! Go play Call of Duty or get lost!" This vision I feel is a problem. In the end, why do we play games? For fun! Now I enjoyed vanilla DayZ, DayZero, Epoch and Overwatch.. all of these have something different to offer varying from hardcore-ish realistic gameplay to massive pvp action. I feel if DayZ SA is going to stick to this 'hardcore survival attitude' it's currently got going for itself it would be a huge waste of potential. And don't you dare tell me "then DayZ is not for you". I can make that judgement perfectly fine for myself. If only people wouldn't be so afraid to have fun.. -
Yes, it will run You might want to upgrade your GPU to something like a GTX 750ti (~130$) or an R7 260x (~100$). It all depends on your budget though, but either of these cards will give you a good basis for DayZ. If you opt for a more powerful card you will in turn need a better power supply, whereas these 2 cards should run on most power supplies (bear in mind, R7 260x requires 1x6 pin connector). Yes you can run the game.
-
Yeah, reason number one why I don't even really bother playing SA as of now. The main point I worry about is wether performance will actually be better or not in future development of the game..
-
Invest in a better graphics card like an R7 260X or GTX 750ti. Be aware that buying more powerful cards requires a more powerful power supply unit for your system, although these two examples should run on most standard power supplies (1x6 pin connector required for the 260X though). Buying either of these cards (or something equivalent/better) should prolong the lifespan of your system when it comes to gaming..

I gave you the answer to that. You will probably get around 15 fps on average, if you're lucky a bit more depending on the area. You actually want to get around 30 fps for fairly smooth gameplay, and you will get about half of that. So yes, it will lag.

Okay let's clear this up. I ran some benchmarks on an integrated HD 4000 graphics card which is quite simular to the card in those laptops, though the HD 4400 is about 20% faster. This was my test system: These were my settings: I got the following results running 5 to 6 minute tests in different areas.. Benchmark in large town: 19 fps average Benchmark in smaller town: 19 fps average Benchmark in forest: 17 fps average I expect you to get simular results to this, give or take a few fps given that your cpu is slower but your gpu is slightly faster, so you're looking at a 15-20 fps average at best on low-normal settings. Up to you to decide wether the game will be playable or not.

I see a 2nd gen i3 and B75 motherboard chipset there. Why if I may ask? And you will be re-using an old hard drive since you aren't buying one? Just wondering.. To answer your question; invest a little more money into a better graphics card, get something like an R7 260x or a GTX 750. If you do that the game will run pretty good . The GT 630 you chose isn't really great for gaming. Edit: I've seen you post 3 different systems here on one page. Next time edit your post rather than posting 3 times since we can't really help you like this.

Game is somewhat playable on lower settings. Don't expect miracles, performance will be shaky. Will run as good as standalone can run on any machine, period. Of course you already knew that. Running on a macbook? Anyway as long as you don't plan on running it on native resolution it should be somewhat playable on lower settings. Can run the game on low settings. Again, don't expect miracles when it comes to the performance.

Game will run pretty good on high settings  You don't have to apoligize for having an i3 or anything for that matter. In fact current i3's are actually pretty good.. but the fact that you have 6 gigs of ram makes me think you have a first gen i3. Anyway, hardware-wise the best way for you to make DayZ run even better is to further upgrade your graphics card and invest in a newer cpu like the newer i5s or equivalent. While the GTX 460 may have given you a huge boost, its a 4 year old mid range card. There are way faster cards available at this point, though as you said the GTX 460 is still powerful enough to run most modern games at least decently. If I were in your situation I'd just stick with what I have untill I can afford a new system altogether. Tweaking the graphics settings in DayZ itself is always an option as it costs you nothing but a little time :). If you're looking for better performance you could check out this thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/ Otherwise just crank up your in-game settings and see how much your system can handle ;).

My Dayz Frame drops, freezing and stuttering
Salva (DayZ) replied to IamSE4N's topic in Troubleshooting
What are your specs? Honestly it could be many things. Could be your laptop overheating, could be that you're using the wrong windows power/energy profile resulting in a downclocked cpu or gpu. Have you experienced these problems in any other games or only DayZ? Have you altered your DayZ settings in any way? Have you been using the same graphics driver, and have you tried updating it? Some more information would be nice :) . In case of those two examples I gave, you may want to monitor your temperatures just to rule that issue out. I would recommend HWMonitor, you can run it in the background while playing the game. http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.25-setup.exe It shows the maximum temperatures of your CPU and GPU as well as other components reached during play. Things like the weather or different surfaces you put your laptop on can have an effect on your CPU and GPU temperature. High temperatures can result in hiccups and much worse performance. To verify wether your CPU is actually running at full clock speed, check with CPU-Z. http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.70-setup-en.exe Generally when a laptop runs on battery the CPU downclocks itself to preserve battery power. Sometimes these power profiles get mixed up resulting in lower performance even when the charger is plugged in. CPU-Z shows your CPU type as well as it's core speed which is what we're looking for. These are some really basic things, hope we can get some more information to work with. In the end it may be a DayZ related problem, but as of now I cannot tell you. -

All right, I actually just finished the post. Added/edited some bits here and there. I just really want to emphasize how important it is to really back up your claims especially when you want to help other people ;).
