I do like the real time system at present but I must admit it has it’s draw backs that affect my enjoyment of the game and also dictate if I will actually play it or not. I’m in a similar position as the OP and I can only really game in the evening meaning I get a short period of day light and must play the rest in total darkness. If I’m early stages of a character I tend not to play at all as it’s just not worth it as I can’t find anything I need. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not crying, moaning or whining, just putting my observations forward and offering a couple of things to consider. I think there needs to be better balance in the over-all approach of the game. As some already said the present water/food requirements are unrealistic if the game is played real-time as you shouldn’t need to eat/drink as much as is required. Also think of it in terms of map size - it isn’t actually really that a map, meter for meter this entire region with several “cities” within it is actually smaller than the town I live in. So some elements such as food/water requirements and map size are clearly geared for representation where as day/night cycles and time are real-time. This seems like it's causing unbalance with players getting the worst of both scenarios instead of a balance, which I beelvie teh mod is meant to be about. To me it makes better sense to take the same representational approach as the developers of the GTA series did with San Andreas; the “state” was scaled down better by having a sense of perspective, partly done by having shorter day/night cycle. It felt bigger as the it took “longer” to get from one side of the map to the other and that added a sense of realisim to the game. It wasn’t meant to be taken literally in my opinion, just a form representation. If DayZ adopted this approach it would make the map feel bigger and also makes eating/drink cycles a bit shorter or actually matches in with what the game already requires and therefore actually add a better sense of realism to the game. I don’t think drastic action would be needed, maybe just having 2:1 ratio for time. Again this isn’t a criticism and I love the approach Rocket is heading with this game and think he has a built a fantastic mod around a truly unique inception of a game!

Momentum is really picking up now with some coordinated games taking place over the last week. Our band are presently fliting between Cherno and Electra to rendezvous with clan members as they spawn and keeping equiped. We will be hanging around this area for a couple of days and then pressing north. Members and friends are still welcome to join us as we move north but will have to either follow us or meet us at pre-arranged destinations. Visit our website or TS for more details www.bsbnetwork.com -
I bought ARMA2 CO purely on the strength of this mod and I know a couple of otehr clan members who did the same too so it's not too surprising. Well done DayZ mod team.

at present theres 5 members playing, i havent been on much this week cos of work but i havent seen you on our ts server when I have been on with our lads and your account says you have only been on 80 minutes....? It's a mostly adult clan and you have to remember our lads arent going to be on 24-7 but most nights of the week around 8pm gmt onwards you should see members on. Also it's worth checking the other channels, particularly the social channels as our members tend to be more social and use different channels while they play. -

Warden/peace keeper/ Militia idea
boxman80 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We’re still very early days to be honest with you which is why I say it’s a great time for motivated people to get on board and help focus our efforts and shape our DayZ campaign. Fundamentally this game fits the community of gamers we already have well, as our motto kind of indicates; “strength in unity”. At this stage we’re more about strengthening our numbers and creating a foundation of familiarity (within the game and new users) and developing team based co-operation/tactics so I’d guess our first approach is to engage within the community and attract as many like minded people as possible to help build this foundation. From there I would say our long term goal is to provide safe areas/zones for our members and like minded individuals and to enforce our own ethics/codes of conduct within the game world. Naturally long term I would say this may need to done aggressively when dealing with certain types who are counter-productive tour goals. This will hopefully be fun as well as useful for everyone involved though and could go on to produce good clan mates and friendships! -

our clan is aiming something similar and is based on 5-10 guys who already play together in our clan (on other games) and are trusted and therefor "solid". You're welcome to come on board and help establish the game witho our clan and establish our DayZ campaign. We need good people like yourself with good intentions to try and get things done properly. If you're not interested or want to do your own thing then no problem and good luck. My details are in my signature. -

After playing the game I have a few suggestions.
boxman80 replied to MR DELICIOUS's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Fantastic suggestions! -
I think the original idea is a good one but I would say make it less mlitary, or indeed hav ea wide veriety of AI civillian characters/vehicles that randomly occour throughout the map to create atmosphere;(very occasionally, maybe once every 24 hours) e.g. - civiallian and military choppers/aircraft appearing occasionally - vehicles being driven in the distance, - boats on the horizon or sailing by - random gunshots maybe even crashing sometimes to give some loot
-
I imagine it may be difficult to implement into the game and could cause lag, but if it could be pulled off yea its a cracking idea! A persistent roaving zombie horde (or maybe a couple) would be fantastic!

European survivors clans/big groups?
boxman80 replied to Bober077's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi, we're The BSB Survivors (part of the multi-gaming clan The BSB Network - www.bsbnetwork.com) We're presently in theprocess of setting up our group with around 5-10 members currently playing this mod. We have our own TS3 server and website to co-ordiante and obviously already have a trusting and organised team of people (as we all play together on diffrent games). You're welcome to join us with us. Just visit our website and get on our TS server. It's a good idea to make a post on our forum with your game times etc Like I said we're actually in the process of establishing our Dayz team and organisation so now is a good time to get on board to help establish this campaign in our clan. Hope to catch you online soon -
Where do you get the DayZ servers from? Our clan would be interested in hosting one.
