Anyone wanna team up in UK?
boxman80 replied to kylebeed (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi there we're the BSB Network, a social gaming community that has a good number of players supporting Day Z. We're hosting many smaller groups within the game and presently undergoing the process of organising a larger scale community group within the game operating fire teams, safe zones etc. We're a stable and established community that was setup in 2002 (so we're not a fly by night ad-hoc clan or anything!) and we're just a good community of gamers looking for fun games. We have no age, skill or time requirements, all we ask is for players to be fair and have a bit of common sense. We use TS3 and have our own community website with members from all over the world. Most of our members are over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but we do have some mature younger players too! If you're interested in joining in our groups in Day Z go to our website or hop on our Public TS3 server any time; www.bsbnetwork.com Our recruitment/advertisement topic on this forum can be found here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/48408-bsb-network-recruiting/#entry462503 -

Nice topic, well done sir! I guess where I'd call home or I feel most comfortable is just outside of Zelenogorsk. I spent my first weeks playing heavily around this area and now it always feels like "home" as I pass through.

I'm not against PvP, that should be in the game but this game should stay true to it's genre and objective of zobie survival. Personally i dont mind PvP I jsut think the game should be more than just a race to the NW airfield to get an AS50. I would have said in an idea world that all military high end grade weapons , or at least their ammo, and equipment (ghili, NVG etc) are made rare than rocking horse shit. But as people will ultimately endeavour to find them maybe it would be wise to take them out in favour of more meelee, home made and common civilian fire. If that means PvP using markorovs then so be it, that's much more intense anyway. Or alternatively, as in most good Zombie literature Ive read and movies/tv I've watched it's always been a disadvantage to use fire arms, this should be reflected in game. Using guns should be like a dinner bell for the zombies. Maybe those who want AS50s and what have you could have them (again with rare ammo) but they should pay the price, whereby firing a shot would spawn several waves of intense zombie action around the player shooting. That would certainly make the environment much harder to survive.
-
We would be interested. Would be good if you could nip onto our community forum to discuss the idea with our community @ www.bsbnetwork.com
-
You're welcome to join in with our groups. We have several serious fire teams and lots of more relaxed ad-hoc groups playing regularly through out the day and night. We use Teamspeak 3 and have over 1200 registered members, 200 of which playing Day Z. More details can be found on our website @ www.bsbnetwork.com

Maybe it wouldnt necesarily mean you couldnt do certain things if you didnt have the knowledge of that particular "trade", but perhaps it would be significatnly easier or quicker, for instance, if you character was a mechanic before the outbreak for him/her to repair a vehicle. Maybe less parts would be needed. Just off the top of my head I can think of quite a number of useful "knowledges" or trades fro characters that could improve in-game performance and encourage team play; Doctor/nurse/Vet, Animal trainer/handler, Policeman, soldier, Fireman, Bus driver, Civ pilot:ability to fly small aircraft, Engineer, Mechanic, Builder/Handyman, Criminal, Woodsman, Chef, gunsmith, sportsman/personal trainer.... all of these trades would naturally have various phyisical, mental attributes and knowledges.
-
Intersting concept and very good suggestion. It certainly would encourage team play more as it would mean that not every play could do everything, i.e. fly, survive the wilderness, give medical attention, be profficient with all firearms, repair all vehicles, therefore it would mean you would need a team of players who were useful at their particular "trade" in order to survive long term in an orgnised fashion. Maybe these traits could be also aquired over time or expanded by finding various books or maybe even traded between alive players. Again it wouldnt exactly discourage "kill on sight" but it certainly would reward team play and co-operation.
