Epoch just plays so much better as an MMO in my opinion. Yes there's a lot of it that isn't as authentic as Day Z (vanilla) but it fills gaps in vanilla and gives more and longer term, game play objectives. I loved vanilla for it's look and feel and how it was you against the elements and other players. Its a fantastic game for a few hours of gaming, a few weeks or even longer. But once you start to group up and play longer term you start hitting it's boundires. Once you've done your raids and scavenges and got your basic kit there's very little incentive to do anything else but kill! Epoch offers more things to do with excellent features such as the base building and the trading and these things just play out really well with groups and teams. Yea it's not strictly the same authentic gams as day z but it plays really well and offers more things to do. It shouldnt really be compared directly to day z as both aim to offer different experiences.

Im a big fan of the horde suggestions, yea its been raised a few times before but most good ideas are. Not so sure about having it at set periods such as end of server cycles but at least you're trying to tackle the resources issue that would be one of the hurdles of such an idea. Personally I hope we do see large hordes of zombies on the map in both the mod and the full release at some point.

The vanilla versionof the mod is a great place to start and you should always play it first to get to grips with the game but Epoch is a fantastic "flavour" and is popular for a reason ;)
