Still here and enjoying Day Z as a community. One of the longest playing organised communities on Day Z, join us today @ www.bsbnetwork.com

Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. If you're interested check out or website @ www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!" 212.187.246.58:9140

lol cool. I've heard a few stories like this over the months but never seen many videos. Id say this is the best video I've seen of this hack/abuse. It's clearly wrong and a cheat but makes for entertaining videos ans stories.

With the full standalone release of Day Z, am I correct in thinking we no longer see commercial brands such as Coca Cola, Pepsi and Heinz in game? I think it's a shame that we may no longer have these products in game as I will forever associate Heinz Beans with Day Z! I'm pretty sure there will be a good portion of the community who are the same - maybe some kind of sponsorship could be worked out! I personally prefer HP beans myself though! What other brands would you guys like to see in game?
-
The TS server is laid our purely for groups to use, regardless of their servers. You will find that most groups are scattered across different servers, but this isnt always the case, sometimes they are on the same server and are either participating against another group in our BountyHunterZ event or they are just simply escaping one big channel with too many voices in it!

I'm worried, will standalone be on steam?
boxman80 replied to arvalap's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree I agree and you can thank our Windows 8 super-fan friend Karmann for his digression on the technical capabilities of Windows 8. Personally I think the legal wrangling of Steam and Windows 8 are relevant to Day Z and steam since it's something we could all be facing soon pending outcome. . -
The goal in Dayz should be survive, not pvp
boxman80 replied to ElysionField's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If you watch any good Zombie or post-appocalypse movie or read any good book from the genre you will see that the zombies and surviving the environment soon takes on a secondary role to surviving against other survivors. A big part of this genre is not only surviving against the environment but also watching out for the psychos and dangerous people who are around too. Therefore I think the PvP is quite appropriate within the game. The way I think of it is naturally there are two types of people in these scenarios, those who simply wish to get by, doing what they do avoiding the zombies and surviving the elements - these in the movies or books are the good guys. THen there's the pyschos who just want to cause trouble and kill. These are the bad guys. I hear what you are saying about the military grade weapons though and there are far too many of them in the game mostly due to all the scripting that goes on and with them it's far too easy for bandits and makes this play style far too tempting. I do think this will be addressed in stand alone better. -
I'm looking for a group of mature players.
boxman80 replied to Sulforic's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hi there, we have a group of Day Z gamers @ the BSB Network (www.bsbnetwork.com) We are a stable and well established mature/adult gaming community. We have a few fire teams set up already and loads of informal ad-hoc groups that play online all day everyday. Our members are predominantly UK and Europe although we do have a couple of US and worldwide players though! We use our own TS3 server (check it out now to see how active it is http://www.bsbnetwork.com/servers ) for comms and play on our own servers as well as a couple of whitelisted private hives and even some Day Z Redeux servers. We're always open to decent folks, we have no restrictions or requirements other than fair play and common sense. Hope to catch you in-game soon! -

Just wondering if Rocket or the team are prepared to discuss further the clan/group facilities that are to be implemented into Stand Alone initially and for the future. I read in recent statements and interviews that initially we are likely to have some kind of affiliation system such as an item of clothing or more likely an armband to help identify groups and encourage more social play. Coming from and representing a large and well established gaming community I think this is good and obviously a step in the right direction but I would love to see much more group/clan features being built into the game. I think I can probably speak for every stable clan and community out there when I say If not immanently, we'd would like to see it to be on the road map for somewhere down the line. I can understand there will need to be cautious with this and a balance is needed whereby this doesn't come at a cost of sacrificing the community open style and sandbox style of the game. Just off the top of my head features such as; - Ability to have uniforms/items of clothing identifying clans - Maybe tattoos/flags and nice customisations etc for characters would be a great feature - Ability to establish bases/strong holds for bases, so camps/bases can be identified in-game - Ability to track some stats on groups ideally via a website. Perhaps in the form of having "notoriety" to identify strong communities/clans or even bandits and lone wolves! - Perhaps ability to leave your "mark" or tag somehow in game or maybe have an in-game messages/notice boards/graffiti relating to communities or clans to help build notoriety or reputation. - Maybe even expand upon ideas such as our own Bounty HUnterZ event by having system/game controlled events such as a bounty system on random targets or communities based on a stats system, whereby active players are randomly targeted for bounties in the form of equipment. Just off the top of my head here, feel free to add your own ideas, but the top and bottom of it is what are the plans for guilds/clans immanently and for the future of Day Z?

boxman80 replied to arvalap's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Im sorry you feel that an opposed opinion to you isn't that of a grown up. I personally believed being able to respect a difference of opinion is a mark of maturity and intelligence. As I keep stressing, I'm not targeting you personally, I'm not even calling into question your knowledge of Windows 8 or even how good an OS it is; I'm simply replying to the statements you are making directly to me and backing them up with information. What more do you want? I think anyone with a bit of common sense reading this back will have no doubt who the grown up here is. -

boxman80 replied to arvalap's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wasn't offering my opinion on Windows 8 (which personally I don't like) I was simply pointing out there are some serious issues that may have implications on Steam within Windows 8. Like it or not, that is a matter of fact. I also don't feel I have reacted badly, I'm not the one raging, calling people liars, making assumptions and generally bashing people with opinions that differ from my own... -

I fail to see how reading and simple referring to credible articles in industry magazines and websites is "uninformed". In fact, isn't that kind of the opposite of uninformed? You are the one who failed to read the article and obviously hadn't read the other articles that have been circulating over recent months as you attacked my post claiming it was to do with technical draw backs, I'd say that's uninformed. May I ask how you know I didn't bother with win 8 for long enough? Can I ask what is even the relevance of this my original topic, which again was referring to the very real legal issues that are ongoing regarding in 8 and Valve? I'm not interested in a dick measuring contest with you over who knows the most about Win 8, nor am I intentionally trying to upset you by bad mouthing Windows 8 .... I will of course reiterate my "intention" of my original statement; there is a very real and unresolved legal issue and concern from online retailers, particularly gaming related to the market place licences within Windows 8.My point is this could go either way or at the very least could be become a factor at some stage of all game/steam developments. It's such a serious issue that a recent article in Micro mart questioned the future of gaming on Windows. I didn't write the article, so before you shoot the messenger again because you are upset that people would dare question Window 8, I suggest you blast Micro Mart for not spending enough time on 8. I would also suggest you get yourself up to speed before you call others "uninformed". -

boxman80 replied to arvalap's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We've had access to Windows 8 for months now, that's nothing special there are plenty of partners who have. Funnily enough, I haven't actually used steam on it myself as I work at work, I don't game at work. However I was also suitably unimpressed as to not bother dicking about with it on my personal computer and having to fart about with it. Now that's something that's something called personal choice, based on MY EXPERIENCE. I personally have enough of messing about with compatibility issues, unknown errors and general fault finding during my day job to open the door to it on my own time when I just want to get some games in. I'm not bashing anyone else who does want to do this, kudos to them, I just don't. As for "hating" Windows/Microsoft, that's ridiculous, I genuinely just really don't care enough to hate. I use, some things I like, some things I don't I have no doubt 8 will be as widely used as every other MS operating system has been, good or bad, so everything will eventually settle (even without you setting the record straight!). There's always a mass panic about what apps will be working etc etc etc,....... it's been the same for as long as i can remember, hardly worth pissing yourself on here about though. If you want to be a Windows 8 crusader that's fine, go and spread your gospel across the internet, I would however suggest targeting places a little higher up the food chain than the Day Z forum though mate. I would also advise not shooting the messenger. Just on a personal note, I think you are out of order to insinuate I'm lying about using Windows 8, I'm not sure what it would achieve to do so - I'm not the one who thinks it impresses people. -

boxman80 replied to arvalap's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have used it myself, we're also a Microsoft partner.... I don't want to get involved in a debate about Microsoft or the Windows operating system as frankly I don't care, it's boring, I do that sort of stuff for a living and I don't come here for it. Now, you talk about common sense but did you read the article? It's not about drivers or any technical restrictions, it's about how Microsoft plan to to emulate Apple's I Store and restrict applications such as steam by forcing them to buy their own restrictive licences because they want more control and a finger in a very lucrative market right now. The article is from the propositions outlined to Valve themselves who have hit out and are seriously looking to expand into Linux platforms now. I've read several interviews from Gabe Newell bashing the propositions over the last couple of months so don;t bash me because Valve Don't want to play with MIcrosoft.... -
