Suggestion :Stop asking about Standalone Release

I suspect it will be delayed a while yet if Rockets recent statement on the developers blog is anything to go by.... If they are still making decisions to core architecture of the game such as it being server based now, I'd say we're still quite a way off a playable release.

    Zombies.. that can smell

Good idea, adds another element to consider when surviving and of course give you a reason in game for good hygene. Washing and regularly fidning or washing clothes to decrease zombie detection is someting that I'd like to see in the game for sure. Good post fella!

    [BSB] Network Recruiting

Our new Taviana server is now online, feel free to join the fun!
  4. For you, me and many others true, but there's still enough core elements to appeal to the masses (look how popular private hives are - not all of them are there purely to control hackers!). This is particularly the case for new comers to the game too who are initially intreagued by the environment. Once the you get accustomed to the game you soon get desensitised to the environment and want to play more PvP!
  5. Hi you're welcoem to check out our servers, we run two servers presently, a public and a private hive and we have lots of community and clan memebrs that are willing to let you run with them or help you out; details in my siganture
  6. "Tiny Hippo", LU425 is Public Hive.
  7. We will also have a Stand Alone server up on the day of release!

The Counter Sniper - 25 kills unbeaten.

I'd be interested in publishing a series of your Day Z videos on our website if that's ok? Be nice to hear from you, maybe have you post some tips or something, both regarding in-game sniping and video editing.

Cool video mate. You got any more?

    Who's excited?

Meeeeeee, I'm pissing in my pants! Particularly looking forward to the clan features, an increased map size (that's unique to Day Z and not just an ARMA2 map, so its all OURS!), tighter game restrictions on cheats/hacks and most of all........everyone being on a public hive again! Good times!
  11. Hi guys, good luck withthe group, sounds insane fun! Glad to see you're about the fun, you guys sound like the type of group we're looking for for our clan Partnership scheme. It's aimed at decent folks who play fair (no cheats/hacks etc) and have fun. We're particularly interested in Australian/Russian clans and communities having representation within our community to refer our memebrs from these regions to, as well as obviously hearing from interesting events and activities of such clans. Clans such as yours would undoubtably have some cracking stories and videos from your PvP exploits and could possibly make for some interesting clan v clan friendly scrimming and competitive play. The idea is to expand our own contact network, as well as that of our members' and affilaited partners to provide "preferred" servers and clans to members of our community (presently 1600+ registered members) that aren't already affiliated to clans on various games, including MincCraft, BF3, Arma 2 & 3, Day Z, Call of Duty series, Path of Exile, League of Legends, World of Tanks, End of Nations, CoH (1&2), war Z, C&C TA, Combat Arms, AVA, Project Blackout, Left 4 Dead, Football Manager, Planetside 2 and many more! Full details of the Partnership can be found on our website @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com, but geneally it aims to increase our contacts, share resources and increase our communities exposure to other gaming clans. The benefits include; - links to your clan website and servers via our webiste - oppertunities to promote your group via our clans forum and website - referal of relvant gamers towards you as one of our "preferred" clans on the game(s) you support - various inter-clan gaming tournaments and event - forum & web hosting - TS3 hosting - general support We are stable and well established (since 2002) with over 1600 members, so we're not looking to poach members or anything sinister like that, this is a genuine scheme that has been started with the best possible intentions for all invovled, offering our own stability and resources as a platform to help gamers intergrate between clans/games, In return all we ask is some links back to us and our own servers and some kind of representation from yourselves within our community. We are also particularly interested in hearing from gamers who are interesed in being invovled in the adminsitration of our gaming community and have experience in' - Game server administration - TS3 advanced administration - Website news and blog publishing - Gaming reviews If you are interested just give me a shout and we can discuss it further. If you guys aren't interested, no worries and good luck with the Clan!

  13. yea I agree, I play in our communities Day Z clan often as wella s playing lone wolf and often find myself at the mercy of teams groups and organised players when I am alone - and I'm no great ARMA player! Would you be interested in maybe creating a tutorial or even a series of simple examples (video or written guide maybe?) on how to setup "training" scenarios like you have described? I'd love to punlish something like this for the members of our community who play lone wolf (with credit to you of course!).
  14. That's a really sound bit of advice, well done sir
  15. Would you guys be interested in joining our community @ The BSB Network? We have a partnership scheme aimed at decent mature and fair clans that are well established, to be a part of our community as "Partners". The idea is to expand our own contact network, as well as that of our members' and affilaited partners. We aim to provide "preferred" server and clans to members of our community that arent already affiliated to clans on various games, including Day Z. Full details of the Partnership can be found on our website @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com, but geneally it aims to increase our contacts, share resources and increase our communities exposure to other gaming clans. The benefits include links to your clan website and servers via our webiste, oppertunities to promote your group via our clans forum and generally refer relvant gamers towards you as one of our "preferred" clans on the games you support. Other benefits we aim to offer is various inter-clan gaming tournaments and event and we can also offer to clans that need them, forum/web hosting, TS3 hosting and general support. We are stable and well established (since 2002) so we're not looking to poach members or anything sinister like that, this is a genuine scheme that is being started with the best possible intentions, offering our own stability and resources as a platform to help gamers intergrate between clans/games, In return all we ask is some links back to us and our own servers and some kind of representation from yourselves within our community. Old Bastards Clan is looking for Rivals!!!

Evening, we are The BSB Network, a social gaming community for fair and mature gamers. We have several clans and groups (including our own multi-game clan) supporting Day Z (among other games) and your group sound like the sort of clan we are looking for for our Partnership scheme. We'd be interested in having you invovled in our community, having some friendly scrims and competition between our groups. As I say, we have our own group of BSB internal clan members playing Day Z as well as a several smaller groups that use our community as a base (our servers and website). We'd love to have a decent group like yourself have representation within our community and taking part inour events such as the "Bounty HunterZ" event and "Hungry Hippo Battle Royal". Obviously regular friendly competitve play on locked or private servers would also be encourage between all relevant clans/teams too. if you are interested please feel free to contact me, details of our partnership affiliation scheme can be found at our website @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com Hope to hear back from you John
  17. Its a good idea, we run something similar withinour community called "The Hungry Hippo Battle Royal". Details on our website (see my signature), it's open to members of our community (don't have to be in our Day Z clan) and affilaited clans. We;ve ran it twice so far with good results.

    Chopper hiding spots

Ive seen a few people saving choppers on the islands off the coast yea, it's not a bad place really. Other than that I'd say on a roof in a remote low yield village/town. Ours is usually kept in a series of random places off map in camps with lots of foilage.

    Will DayZ Stadalone Survive ?

Then everyone you know are idiots I'm affraid to say lol

Some little things to Improve DayZ

You're forgetting the game is based on ARMA 2, there was no need for "jump" in a serious military sim. It used to be quite common for tactical games not to feature jumping (Raimbow Six series, Operation Flashpoint etc). It probably wuld be useful for Day Z though, I just dont want to see it leading to loads of people abusing it with "bunny hopping". I like the idea of a wave or a point though, good idea. A lot of people use teh "friendly dance" or the salute in-game to denote "friendly" though, so I guess a wave is a good idea.

    Music player?

Have you seen the shit-box cars in game? lol I'm suprised they even have headlights!

    looking for clan to join

No worries, there's no obligation to even join our in-game clan, there are a couple of otehr clans that use our community as well as many individuals. Hope to see you in game soon.

    Street Vendors

The beauty of this game is it's sanbox and people can trade/swap/peddle their kit if they chose to do it and however they feel is best to do it - and that makes it far more interesting! What would you prefer to do? Ask around , make a few contacts and arrange for a swap/trade at a "safe zone" with someone you hardly know, knowing anything could happen and the whole trade could turn into a bullet festival at any time? Or go onto some boring inventory screen and acrue "currency" or safely aquire equipment that you should be getting the excitement of finding/stealing/looting? Which do you think is the better game experience? It's a no brainer - D ay Z is about players creating the experience!

    Will DayZ Stadalone Survive ?

The private hives are a double edged sword. They have played a massive part in further developing the mod (hives such as Redux in particular) but it has fragemented, divided and diluted the community into isolated pockets quite early in the games life, so thw veins of diversity that have helped introduce new features and expand otehr possibilities within the game, as well as providing a safe and stable game, have also meant we've moved far away from a "standard" version, often in various different directions and tangents, openning up more and more problems. It probably couldn't have went any other way than private hives though, once the hype had brough the massive influx of players to an environment that didnt have adaquet exploit/cheat prevention and not enough servers. Ultimately, private hives are the way to go (as we've seen with similar games such as MineCraft) , but i think early days of Stand Alone, particularly as the game will be more of an Beta test, it's important that the community are all playing the same version publically . This will help prodice both a better stable base game as well as galvanise the community foundation.

    Will DayZ Stadalone Survive ?

I think we will see what seems a massive influx of players again come release of Stand Slone. Naturally some of these will be new players or returning players who are draw to the shiney new release, but I think it will be largely down to the community being refocused on public hive servers. Private hives, while they are fantastic in their own way, do fragment this community and dilute the players and I feel we are yet to see a good balance between activity and "safe" gaming. All that's happend is everyone and their brother has rushed out for their own private hive on the back of the problems caused by the massive influx of players and now painted themselves intoa corner by not wanting to go back to publc hive and now it seems there are more servers and private hives than there are players! (Well almost, but you get the idea!) I think stand alone's release, at least short term, will benefit from the refocus of players being forced back to main hive, this will undoubtably see it succed in it's first 6 months alone! Longer term again I think it's hardcore fanbase is secured enough to make the title a success, especially of the title makes more of it's sandbox heritage like Minecraft did.
